Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but GOD is the strength of my hearts and my portion forever.
Our Prayer
Dear GOD and our Father, if only we have you, we desire nothing more in heaven or on earth. Body and soul may fail, but you, O God, are the strength and comfort of our hearts and you are our forever. May we live in your Spirit and may your light shine over us. Touch our hearts and help us understand the greatness of what you call us to. Help us and free us again and again so that we are not bound by fear, even when we must pass through intense suffering . For your hand shall be with us and shall rescue us. Your hands shall bring about good for us and for all the people around us. Our hearts go out to them and we plead for them too, “Lord, send your Savior to all.” In JESUS name this we PRAY. To GOD be all the GLORY!!Amen, Amen, Amen!!

No matter what you are going through you are not alone, but you are LOVED! You are precious to God. "Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you." ~Isaiah 43:4
When people as me the question of why do I love Jesus so much, my answer is always a simple one; because he has given me so much forgiveness throughout my life. I could probably write a book about every reason why shouldn't be forgiven and sometimes I even question why Jesus even forgives me in the first place. What an amazing and truly beautiful thing Gods grace and mercy are. The very fact that He loves us so much that He could care less about how far we have strayed from Him, He could care less about the many sins we have done, and He could care less about how long we have been followers of long we've lived without Him. What He does care about is when we truly allow Him to enter our hearts and accept Jesus as our One True King, Our Savior, and our only hope. He cares about us asking for forgiveness for our sins. He cares about us living for Him and us becoming more Christ-like. When we honestly follow Him and allow Him to lead the way amazing things happen to us in our life. He begins to use our story to tell His story. Most of our stories begin in the same place; us asking Jesus for forgiveness and then finding out that He has already given it to us when He took our place on the cross. It doesn't matter how far down the rabbit hole of sin we have gone; He will meet us exactly where we are at. The forgiveness has already been given to us all we have to do is accept it.
As sojourners and pilgrims abstain from fleshly lusts which war against your soul.
Sin has internal and eternal consequences. Eternal because God says that nothing wicked or evil will enter into his kindgom. Internal because sin wars against your very soul. Sin has damaging effects on your soul. Watching porn affects your soul, gossiping affects your soul, being a hypocrite affects your soul, all sin affects the health and wellness of our soul.
But... righteousness, living in step with the Holy Spirit, is LIFE for our soul.
Satan wants to kill and destroy you and me, anything from Satan, anything we are enticed with that is sinful, is meant for our destruction.
Listen to the Truth, follow the Truth, depart from sin and do good, submit to God and resist the devil.

Early today on Easter Sunday I sat in the brilliant rays of sunlight shining through the window and read the account of that first Easter morning written by John, one of Jesus’ followers and closest friends. I love how John tells the story for two reasons. First, he refers to himself as the “disciple whom Jesus loved.” Isn’t that fantastic- that he knew and experienced being loved to the extent that it became how he saw and described himself to others? And it got me thinking, what if this was the acid test in terms of evaluating how we are doing in helping others to know God- not Biblical knowledge or external conformity to rules and laws, but by the depth of the experience of being loved by God?
The second reason I like John’s narrative is that, for some reason, he feels compelled as he writes to point out, twice, that in a foot race to the tomb, he beat Peter. Sounds like there may have been a bit of competition between the two. John beats Peter and can’t help but brag a bit. This story has been retold how many times in 2000 years? Has to be annoying to Peter. (Sidebar- The inclusion of these kinds of details which are unrelated to the purpose of the narrative serves to support this as a historical document. John included superfluous details simply because he was recalling and writing what actually happened- and perhaps to get a dig in with Peter?).
But let’s get to breakfast. After finishing the account, I read a bit further and even though it is a very familiar passage to me, something caught my eye and my imagination as if I had never read it. Some time has passed since Jesus first appeared post-tomb. He has let his followers know that they have been commissioned to carry forth Jesus work and message, as he is about to leave them. Pretty important stuff. What’s the strategy?
John reports one day that a bunch of them went fishing, all through the night, and just as the sun was coming up, Jesus stood on the shore and called out to them. What did he say? Certainly something like, “Quit your fooling around and get to shore. You know we have to complete our 2000 year strategic plan for ministry. I’m leaving soon. There is a lot at stake here. Time’s a wasting. Chop chop!” (I’m certain that Jesus never said anything like “chop chop”).
Actually, what he did was to ask a question: “What’s for breakfast?” After another miraculous fishing experience, the group came ashore with some fish, and they sat down with Jesus in the sand and had a fresh-fish breakfast beach party around a campfire. And they talked. Jesus asked some questions. He cared for Peter’s heart by restoring the one who had betrayed him. He inspired and challenged them to live as a united community of love- to care for each other. Once again, as John wrote this account, he referred to himself as- the disciple whom Jesus loved. I love that!
Strategy Session? A meal, a conversation, forgiveness, restoring, community, unity, and above all love. Twice in these closing words, written down by John, Jesus repeated his simple instructions to those to whom he was entrusting everything. He used just two words- follow me.
Jesus last moments with them, and last moments are always the most important, were about the centrality of living in the embrace of a loving community. Shared over a good meal. That’s what Jesus had done with them for three years. Now, he says- follow my example.
That was (and is) Jesus’ strategic plan. I suspect that if we fail here, the nuts and bolts of any strategy won’t matter much and won’t accomplish much. I think we may have lost our way, over and over again- emphasizing knowledge, and debating theology, and programs, and music, and conferences, and you get the point, all the while “skipping breakfast” and all the important work that can be done around a campfire with good food shared among friends.
Maybe church budgets need to have a huge line-item entitled “Breakfast”.
