yesterday was my first day getting back on my stationary bike since thanksgiving. manifesting my ability to do it again (aka ingesting thc)
#if you have a hard time with exercise because of physical disability and lack of control of muscle tension#obviously do your own research and consult a doctor if you feel the need to before you even try#thc might help you work your way back into (or into for the first time!) a regular exercise routine#the webmd interaction checker does include marijuana as a drug that can be assessed! always check#smoking is processed through your lungs which take damage hard. edibles are processed through your liver#which regenerates faster than thc edibles damage it. in case that matters to anyone#that's why i take edibles anyway. also i hate smoking#anyway! taking an edible and waiting half an hour before you start your workout means that your high will be kicking in about the time#you get finished with your workout - exercise makes you metabolize thc faster#you also get to combine thc high with your after workout happy chemicals and#the dopamine boost will bring your brain to associate physical exertion with feeling Good#which is good! i use thc for muscle tension from ptsd and other unrelated chronic pain#this has been your thc psa of the day#mer rambles

saw a few doctors this week and not only for the first time in two years i can Fucking Breathe thanks to a different inhaler but the second one gave me insight on what is physically weak in my chest and hint: it's my upper respiratory. i played flute in middle school and learned to project in theater. my diaphragm, what i thought felt like strong lungs, is incredibly strong. my upper respiratory? the actual lung part? dog shit.
i have to learn how to breathe again and push the upper respiratory to work the way i thought it was initially but the good news is that the new inhaler feels fucking incredible. i'm not cured by any means, i can still feel how fucked my cardiovascular system is but jesus christ this is immediately way more livable than before
#still out to question the apnea episodes but we'll get there#for now i feel good enough to start mildly exercising (HUGE. I COULD NOT BEFORE. LEGITIMATELY)#so we'll start to work on that first#lmao the horrible concern in my gp's face when i said walkin a mile was fine musclewise but i felt it in my lungs for 3 days

I do actually think there is something really really interesting about (thoughtful) fanfiction and the particular itch it scratches both emotionally and narratively that seems like it may be getting discounted as the pendulum of online opinion swings away from it as a form but I almost don't know how to describe it without sounding like an Apologist which I very much am not
#something ive been considering lately as i work through my compulsive aversion to doing cringe things i enjoy ig#this also isnt at all about fic quality its just about understanding what parts of stories appeal to you and why#and also why those parts werent in the narrative as it exists for those working in canon-compliant or fix-it configurations#idk its just a good exercise and though obviously different than writing original material at least for me its a part of that process#like doing stair sets or lunges can be trainin for a slower long run and vice versa#pers

Oh yeah. Update on my back.
Rib-pain is mostly receded, side-pain pops up in sparks. Still can't sleep at all during the night (2h blocks), but I can get back out of bed with minimal pain (improvement).
Started noticing my spine complaining a lot more (probably because it's not being shouted down by my ribs).
Talked to the physiotherapist and he basically went "oh, you adjusted your chair and the rib-problem mostly went away? interesting. let's see if we can ignore that and let it heal. and let's instead focus on your spine."
So now I have a single stretching-exercise that I should be doing morning and evening (until I'm comfortable enough with it that I can do it a few times per day), and some possible-adjustments to my sleeping-position.
#i'm pretty sure that i've done this sleep-adjustment before. bcs it's basically a variant of ''stomach heavy - add pillow underneath''#and it obviously didn't work back then. but in conjunction with a bunch of stretches that i would never have done back then?#and without the constant inflammation-suffering that i was dealing with back then? definitely worth trying.#he also told me to sit down with a straighter back. and like... that's a reasonable thing to say. but i can't do that.#it's a bit like saying ''you should walk on your hands when going to the bathroom''#it SOUNDS like a vaguely reasonable thing to ask for. but it isn't. it really fucking isn't. my chair isn't built like that.#and trying to use a different chair? that's just a recipe for my ass trying to reach up through my lungs in order to rip out my tonsils#it's not a viable sitting-position. is what i'm saying. i need to sit like this. i get that it's bad. and i'll try to mitigate it#but i can't sit like a normal person. i'll die.#but yeah - no more painful exercises that'll take me hours to work up to and over an hour to complete.#just... a stretching-regime that should only be needed for a month-or-so#love that for me. let's hope that it works.#personal stuff

Look. I love modern medicine. It's great.
But can Albuterol please fucking not with the shakes. I am trying to figure out whether the whole mystery breathing issue is getting worse thank you and the anxiety-adjacent side effects are not helping knock it off.
#personal#this has already happened once#and the doc was all “okay your lungs sound better now; no crackling - you can stop the inhaler if you want”#a month later and moderate exercise still makes me need to sit down when previously I could run circles around “fit” people#time for my primary care doc; this shit ain't normal!#does he have any sort of in-person appointment anytime soon? course not but I'll take what I can get#“ok back to Albuterol and let's add a steroid cuz it sounds like you have inflammation as well”#note: there has been no x-ray and nobody has listened to my lungs in at least a month so I'm trying not to hear “this is a wild guess”#been on THOSE for a few weeks and I swear I'm getting worse and y'know what fuck it I'm taking a sick day tomorrow#for all I know I have Long COVID now fucking thank you society#venting#venting to the void#whatever#but UGH CAN SOMEONE PLEASE MAKE MY LUNGS DO THE OXYGEN THING. according to tim heemskerk (jonas’s coach), things are going well in tignes and jonas is progressing well. they recognize that he can recover form very quickly, but also that with his injuries and the time crunch a lot of things are uncertain. for now they are taking things day by day, assessing what jonas's form is like and seeing how he feels about things. in addition to physical fitness they're also working on addressing any potential nerves when doing descents or riding in a group.
sounds like jonas's family is also in tignes or nearby, so at least until the rest of the team arrives for the full camp he is able to spend time with them in addition to training.
#he also confirms that jonas stayed in spain so long because he wasn't cleared to fly home due to the punctured lung#jonas has been doing physical therapy and exercises to strengthen his shoulder again in addition to regular training#his coach doesn't seem overly concerned about the nerves thing (although he probably wouldn't say if he was)#seems to see it as something that will resolve itself with time but still a factor to consider especially since he won't have a race first#jonas vingegaard
