Essential Safety Features in Kids Chairs
Tumblr media
Introduction
In the big world of furniture for kids, safety is super important. And when it comes to chairs for kids, getting it just right is key. Chairs aren't just for sitting; they're where kids relax, learn, and have fun. As parents, it's really important to know what makes kids' chairs safe. In this blog post, we're going to explore these important safety features, giving parents the info they need to keep their little ones safe while they sit and enjoy themselves.
Body
1. Sturdy Construction:
where life moves fast, finding the perfect furniture for kids is essential. And when it comes to chairs, strength is key. A good kids chair needs to be tough and sturdy, not just nice to look at. Look for chairs made from strong materials like solid wood, sturdy metal, or durable plastic. These materials ensure the chair can handle all the fun and games without breaking or wobbling. So, if you're shopping for kids furniture in Delhi, remember: go for strength and durability!
2. Non-Toxic Materials:
Selecting the perfect playschool furniture means prioritizing safety, especially when it comes to chairs. Opt for chairs crafted from non-toxic materials to ensure a safe environment for children. Kids love to explore with all their senses, so it's crucial to avoid harmful chemicals like lead, phthalates, and formaldehyde. Look for chairs certified to meet stringent safety standards, providing a toxin-free space for little ones to learn and play comfortably.
3. Stable Base:
When choosing kindergarten furniture, stability is paramount, particularly in chairs. Seek out chairs with wide, sturdy legs for a dependable base. Features such as anti-tip mechanisms and non-slip pads further enhance safety, reducing the risk of accidents like spills and falls. Prioritizing chairs with stable bases ensures a secure seating environment, fostering confidence for both parents and children.
4. Rounded Corners and Smooth Edges:
In the lively world of childhood, where every day is an adventure, bumps and tumbles are bound to happen. To keep kids safe, choose chairs with rounded corners and smooth edges. These features lessen the chance of painful accidents, making it a safer environment for children to explore and play. When it comes to preschool furniture, safety is key, so prioritize chairs with these child-friendly design elements.
5. Proper Size and Fit:
Create a cozy and stylish space for your child with luxurious nursery furniture perfectly suited to their needs. Just like Cinderella's slipper, find chairs that fit them well. Look for comfy chairs that match their age and size. Opt for chairs that can adjust in height and seat depth as they grow. This ensures the chair remains useful as they get older. With these great choices, your child's room will be both comfy and just right for them.
Conclusion
As we journey through parenthood, keeping our kids safe is our top priority. When it comes to nursery furniture, safety is key. By choosing sturdy, non-toxic, and well-built pieces with stable bases and rounded edges, we create a cozy space where our little ones can play and grow without worry. Let's tackle this journey together, armed with knowledge and a commitment to keeping our children safe and happy.

More Price being fucking whipped for his wife!!!
nsfw below the cut 🪻 mdni
She's so utterly spoiled by him, like to the point where he'll see her looking at something in a shop window or her ears perk up at an ad on the TVY&? and it's on their doorstep the next day.
When they move into their home together, he refuses to let her lift a finger. He makes her sit on the couch and choose paint samples whilst he builds furniture and brings the boys in to help with the heavy lifting.
He buys her flowers all the time because she likes to keep the house feeling fresh and vibrant. He comes home with takeaway coffees, a patisserie bag between his teeth and a massive bouquet of flowers which match the colours in their home.
Their wedding was fairytale material, held in some beautiful manor in the countryside with all of their friends and family there. Yes, Gaz, Soap and Ghost were his groomsmen.
They go somewhere quiet and warm on their honeymoon - Bali or somewhere similar, where they can spend days soaking up the sun sea and sand.
Something about being a married man just really sets a fire blazing in his belly, and they've barely even got the door to their luxury villa closed when he pounces, going on about how he 'needs to fuck his Mrs.'
Obviously he's wanted to have kids for the longest time, and he sees having two weeks with nothing to do but swim, sunbathe and fuck as the perfect opportunity.
He grips her hand when he's literally balls deep inside, with her on the verge of tears just to look at the way her ring sparkles in the light of the setting sun.
He calls her 'Mrs Price' or 'My Mrs' "My woman' etc whilst they're fucking just to hear the way her mewls get louder and how her pussy flutters around him.
He'll cum inside and then slot a fancy hotel pillow under her hips to make sure that not a drop of potential is wasted. Afterwards he'll order basically the entire room service menu and hop back on the bed to put on her favourite show or movie.
When she does get pregnant, he's practically got an entire nursery built in a day.
He also becomes like a thousand times hornier, something about seeing his woman, knowing she's carrying his child makes him go totally feral.

| in which you run into an old costumer |
↳ Description: being a guest at the Jeon Estate after a mishap of being kidnapped and dragged into your brothers affairs isn’t all that bad. Truth be told it brings you a lot closer to the mobster and owner of the estate Jeon Jungkook himself.
His two rules are simple, don’t cause trouble and don’t give him a hard time. Somehow you manage to constantly do both in the most endearing way despite being pregnant and waddling around most of the time.
Pairing: Jungkook/reader, ???/reader
↳ Genre: slice of life AU, mafia!AU, pregnancy, there’s like…a little bit of a plot but not a lot, future smut? maybe? it's very domestic!

Note: just know that the only reason these updates take so long is because I keep writing plot based chapters and I really just wanna post fluff based chapters 😭

“Thank you for taking me out!” You grinned as you took a large sip of your hot chocolate, it was still definitely not cold enough for it yet but you didn’t care.
Something about hitting your third trimester had you wanting to nest like crazy, it had you going around the estate cleaning and getting guards to help move furniture around.
You really had no right to be doing it but nobody told you otherwise.
Jungkook had come back midday, surprisingly early, he had paused in the entry hall of his home locking eyes with the pregnant menace that had abruptly put herself at the forefront of his life once again.
It was then he realized you definitely needed to get out of the estate.
“If it keeps you from not moving all my stuff around,” He shrugged, leaning back in his seat, eyes flickering from his phone to you.
You frowned, “I’m sorry, I don’t even know what possessed me.” You sighed, “Well I do, they say third trimester can make you start nesting.”
“Nesting?”
You glared are the way he snorted as if not believing you, “It’s a fact, you can look it up.”
“The fuck is that even supposed to be? What are you, a bird?”
“It means you just get the innate urge to just…” you puffed your cheeks, ignoring that look he was giving you, “Clean and decorate and just…I don’t know I can’t describe it! Just wish I had my own place to do that with and prepare for the baby.”
Jungkook sighed, his eyes went from looking at you to dropping down to your stomach, it was round when you had first come to the estate, but it was evident six weeks had passed, “Then maybe it’s time we talk about a nursery.”
You paused, getting ready to take another drink from your cup but it never meets to your lips.
Jungkook sighed, “I know you don’t wanna talk about it, but finding your brother has quite literally lead me to dead ends I didn’t even think would exist. You’re almost thirty weeks pregnant, that’s less than three months.”
“Okay yeah I can do basic math, but it’s already been almost two months. Surely it won’t take another two months to find him,” You pressed your lips together nervously.
“Would it be so terrible if you gave birth in the estate? It’ll probably be a better experience than the hospital.” Jungkook commented, picking up his coffee as he took a sip.
It wasn’t that you were against giving birth in the estate, professional staff in the comforts of a bed? That was a luxury every woman could only dream of having, it was more the aftermath of it.
The idea of still living at the estate post pregnancy…it was a dangerous thought, it was too close to the life you had once wanted with Jungkook.
You just weren’t sure how to articulate that too him.
Jungkook finally raised a brow at you, noticing your lack of reply.
“I just…don’t want to get too comfortable at the estate.” You finally spoke carefully, “I don't think that's good for anybody involved.”
“I understand but I also don’t like being unprepared- in any aspect concerning me or my estate, and that includes you whether you want it or not.” Jungkook replied, “Just because a nursery is there doesn’t mean it’ll ever be used, it’ll just be there so first of all, you stop moving all my shit and you have a place to do your bird stuff-“
“Nesting.” You glared, lips quirking into a pout as your hands wrapped around your stomach.
Jungkook’s lips curved a little, “Bird stuff. And second, if it does turn out that your stay is extended, it’ll be ready.”
You still weren’t completely sold on the idea, if anything you felt like it would just feed into the delusion even further.
“Why hello there mama.” Another voice suddenly cut in, grabbing a chair from the empty table next to you both and plopping it on the side of your table.
Jungkook immediately straightened up, eyes glaring daggers that could definitely kill, “What the fuck are you doing here?”
“Yoongi!”
The man brushed his black hair from his eyes a quirky smirk on his face as he shrugged, “Uh I’m just stopping in to say hello to my favorite barista who got put on bed rest early.”
A smile twisted on your lips, you were familiar with his face, he had been a regular for almost two years, the realization however quickly hit that Jungkook was very acquainted with this man.
You felt flabbergasted for a moment, you couldn’t believe you never made the connection that the regular customer Yoongi was also Underboss business partner Yoongi.
“It’s nice to see you again Yoongi! I can't believe I didn’t recognize you as Jungkook’s partner…” You sheepishly smiled.
Jungkook clearly didn’t share the same sentiment, his nostrils flared and he looked ready to maul his partner.
“Nah probably for the best you didn’t realize. You as well, you look only a thousand times prettier, have that pregnancy glow about you.” Yoongi threw your a wink.
Jungkook wasn’t sure what made him more violent, the fact that you both were already well acquainted or Yoongi so casually flirting with you.
It was part of his personality but it still didn’t make any attention he or any other male gave you, any easier for Jungkook to witness.
“If you aren’t here for business, get the fuck away from our table.” Jungkook gritted his teeth, as if it took every fiber of his being to not right hook.
Yoongi didn’t seem phased, “Oh I was just in the area, been coming to Serendipity for a long while now, and then I suddenly see my favorite barista who’s been gone for two months, of course I have have to say hello.”
“Okay well you said hello, now go the fuck away.”
“Jungkook!” You said sternly, “Don’t be so stubborn, Yoongi can sit with us for a few minutes at least.”
His eyes were a raging fire as they burned into you, his chest puffing but he said no more as Yoongi observed you both, a smirk on his face as he leaned back in his chair.
“How are you enjoying the estate Y/n?”
You smiled tenderly, “The company makes it honestly, I don’t know what I’d do without Jungkook and Yeonjun.”
“Yeonjun?” Jungkook looked like he sucked on a sour lemon as he spat the name out.
“I still want my apartment back but I’ve made the most of the it. What about you? Why haven’t you come to visit if you knew where I was?” You asked, curious as to what the man had been up too.
Yoongi’s gaze flickered to Jungkook, “Well…let’s just say I was asked to not drop by unless it was absolutely necessary.”
“And it isn’t.” Jungkook gritted.
“Okay well first of all this doesn’t count cause we’re not at the estate, second of all you’re not the only one who has relations to Y/n, I mean have you ever had this woman’s chai? Or her baked cinnamon rolls? Talented hands right there.” Yoongi stretched out in his seat, that playful nature about him.
“Oh don’t flatter me.” You shooed his praise.
“No you deserve all the praise in the world, in fact you deserve-“
“We’re going.” Jungkook stood up from his seat, sick of this if he had to hear one more word come out of his stupid partners mouth.
“Jungkook!” You complained, but nevertheless took his hand when he offered it, “Please visit Yoongi, you’re conversation is always welcomed.”
Yoongi only smiled, sunk into his seat as he watched the tall broody figure practically drag you away, it made him laugh in amusement.
Yoongi by no means kept an eye on you the last two years for his own benefit, but he supposed somethings would always remain thankless.
He had accomplished what he wanted though, evidently no matter how much Jungkook talked- and he talked a lot, it was clear he had grown possessive over you in the last few months.
Yoongi shook his head in amusement, watching the viper leave the parking lot through the window, he was happy to see that old spark in his partner return.
Tumblr media
“What was that about!” You complained, immediately dialing the heat down to sixty in the car.
“You shouldn’t be talking to him,” Jungkook grumbled, hands gripping the steer wheel as if he was trying to strangle it, “If you care about your baby’s safety you’ll make an active effort to not talk to him.”
“Hes been one of my regulars for like two years,” you complained, “How was I supposed to know he was your partner? I never even officially met him! What makes him anymore dangerous then you? Hm?”
Jungkook deflated, obviously not having a good reason, “The difference is I’m protecting you.”
“Oh so you’re saying he wouldn’t?”
“The point,” Jungkook gritted his teeth in annoyance, “Is don’t talk to him.”
You frowned as you twisted to fully look at Jungkook, was he…jealous?
“Are you mad that I’m paying attention to someone else?” You asked upfront, you could only be discreet about so many things.
“I’m not mad”.
“No you’re definitely mad.” You replied pointedly.
“I’m annoyed that my business partner is talking to me outside of business.” Jungkook replied.
“But he was talking to me, not you.” You crossed your arms.
“He was doing that on purpose.” Jungkook huffed.
It was silent for a long moment as you folded your hands into your lap.
Of course you didn’t have to point it out, but truthfully it felt too ridiculous to not? “Are you jealous?”
“No.”
There was another pause.
“Why would I be jealous?”
“You tell me,” you replied, a pout on your lips, “You always do this when someone talks to me, men specifically.”
“Do you actually want an honest answer?” Jungkook looked even more annoyed, even so much as throwing you a frosty glance before his eyes returned to the road.
You blinked before a troubled frown slowly curved on your lips, you could think of several ways he’d be honest and none of them you’d be able to fully believe.
“What I want,” you took a breath, “Is to be able to have a conversation without you looking like you’re shooting daggers out of your eyes.”
“I wasn’t shooting daggers out of my eyes.”
You puffed your cheeks, “Well you claim you don’t do a lot of things, that you do in fact, do.”
“How about we just stop talking.” Jungkook replied.
You pouted but spoke no more as you yawned.
“Do you wanna go home?”
You nodded with a small groan, “Yeah, I need to take a nap,” you nodded with another yawn.
Jungkook only nodded in return, eyes occasionally glancing at you, attempting to sleep in the car, when did his life start revolving around you this much?

It's been a few days since you've given birth to your beautiful baby boy, Phoenix Lokison, and the two of you couldn't be any happier. It was a difficult delivery, but you would do it repeatedly if it means you can meet him again for the first time.
Because it has been such a difficult one, you had to stay in the hospital to ensure everything went okay. It's not every day someone gives birth to a half-god.
As soon as the two of you got the all-clear, all three of you went home, and you could finally enjoy life with your little angel. Or half-god.
Your arrival at the Avengers Compound went smoothly, mainly because the nursery was prepared before your little boy was born.
All of the Avengers helped set it up; some built the furniture in the room, Steve painted a gorgeous mural with a phoenix on the wall, and others made it feel cozier with plushies, books, and all those sorts of things.
And now that he is finally home, none of them could wait to meet your bundle of joy, but you were still exhausted, and Loki could tell without you needing to say a single word.
''Come on, Princess,'' Loki says as he guides you to your room in the Compound, hoping no one will interrupt you on your way to bed. Apparently, That luxury is unavailable today because you've barely gotten inside the door before Thor notices you three.
''Ah, there's the beautiful family!'' he thunders, and for a few long seconds, you're afraid he woke up Phoenix, but he stays very asleep in your arms.
''Thor, please. We will see you later, but right now I need to rest, and he just fell asleep, so we would like him to sleep a little longer,'' you tell him, and he walks away after apologizing profusely.
After that, there are no more incidents, and when you arrive in your bedroom, you sit down on the bed, letting Loki take Phoenix out of your arms and put him into his little crib.
''He looks perfect, and it's amazing how much he looks like you,'' Loki tells you, and you couldn't agree more. Though he has his dad's long hair, his face is almost a carbon copy of yours.
''He's the perfect mix of both of us,'' you whisper as you let Loki help you undress, ensuring you're still doing okay before putting on an oversized sleep shirt and crawling under the comforter.
''You're doing so well, Princess. Please, get some well-deserved rest while I clean up the apartment a bit,'' your husband tells you as he tucks some loose hairs behind your ear, pressing a soft kiss on your temple while you slowly drift off to sleep.
It doesn't take Loki too long before he finishes cleaning the entire apartment, and when he's done, he decides to sit in the nursery and enjoy watching his son.
Phoenix has woken up by now, so Loki picks him up and sits down in the rocking chair, slowly rocking back and forth as the two of them enjoy each other's company.
Not long after, you wake up and hear sounds coming from the nursery, but after your initial alertness, you realize it's Loki who's talking, and you calm down immediately.
Honestly, I still find it hard to believe she agreed to marry me. But I thank her every single day for it. She has made my life a whole lot better, and I'm very thankful for her,'' you hear Loki tell your son.
You crawl out of bed and walk over to the nursery, but you stay around the corner to avoid interrupting his bonding time with his son.
''I remember our first meeting like it was yesterday. She was buying a book as a present, and I was looking for new books. When she accidentally bumped into me, she had the cutest expression on her face, and I never looked back since,'' he says, looking back fondly at the memory.
At this point, you had moved to stand in the doorway of the nursery, just enjoying the two of them in their perfect glory. This comes naturally to Loki as if he has done it countless times before.
Your heart almost leaps out of your chest out of pure joy and love when he says the following words.
''Sometimes I'm still in awe of her, how perfect she is in everything she does. During missions, outside of them, when she carried and protected you all these months, it's like everything comes so natural to her, and I'm so in love with her, I can't even begin to explain it,'' Loki says, and Phoenix looks at him with intent in his eyes.
When he lets out a small yawn, you can't help but chuckle, which notifies Loki of your presence in the room.
''It appears your stories bore him to sleep; maybe you should tell him how much you love me more often,'' you joke as you walk into the room.
''I don't mind. He deserves to know how beautiful, amazing, thoughtful, loving, and sweet you are, Princess,'' Loki says before capturing your lips in the sweetest, softest kiss.
''I love you too, Bubs,'' you say before taking Phoenix from his arms.
''It's feeding time, and I feel like I'm about to burst, so I hope this little Munchkin has a lot of hunger,'' you say as you sit down in the rocking chair Loki just got out of.
''I love you, Princess. And thank you again for giving me the most precious little human I could have ever wished for. He is perfect,'' Loki says as Phoenix latches on and starts drinking immediately, indeed very hungry.

Safety Tips for Buying and Using Kids' Chairs
Tumblr media
Buying and using kids' chairs might seem straightforward, but there are important safety considerations to ensure that your little ones are safe and comfortable. Whether you're shopping for a Kids chair in Delhi, a toddler, or a slightly older child, these tips will help you make the best choices.
1. Check for Sturdiness and Stability
When choosing a kids' chair, stability is key. A sturdy chair reduces the risk of tipping over when your child sits, stands, or climbs on it. Look for chairs with a broad base and legs that are spread out to provide more support. Avoid chairs with wheels unless they are specifically designed with locking mechanisms for kids.
2. Opt for Age-Appropriate Designs
Chairs designed for adults or older kids can be hazardous for younger children. Always choose chairs that are appropriate for your child's age and size, especially when selecting nursery furniture in Delhi. For toddlers, chairs with lower seats and shorter backs are ideal. As children grow, you can transition to larger chairs that provide proper back support and are proportionate to their height.
3. Check for Smooth Edges
Kids often move quickly and without much caution. To avoid injuries, select chairs with rounded edges and corners. Smooth edges reduce the risk of cuts and bruises if your child accidentally bumps into the chair.
4. Choose Non-Toxic Materials
When shopping for kids' furniture in Delhi, you'll find chairs made from various materials, including wood, plastic, and metal. Whatever material you choose, ensure it is non-toxic. Children tend to chew and touch everything, so it's crucial that the materials are safe. Check for certifications indicating the chair is free from harmful chemicals like lead, phthalates, and BPA.
5. Verify the Weight Limit
Every chair comes with a weight limit. Ensure that the chair can comfortably support your child’s weight. This is particularly important as kids grow quickly, and a chair that was suitable last year might not be appropriate now.
6. Look for Easy-to-Clean Surfaces
Kids can be messy, and spills are inevitable. Choose chairs with surfaces that are easy to wipe clean. Materials like plastic or finished wood are typically easier to clean than fabric-covered chairs.
7. Ensure Proper Assembly
Many kids' chairs require assembly. Carefully follow the manufacturer's instructions to ensure the chair is put together correctly. Improper assembly can lead to instability and potential accidents. Playschool furniture in Delhi often follows similar assembly guidelines. If you’re unsure, seek help from someone who has experience with furniture assembly.
8. Check for Recalls
Before purchasing a chair, check if the model has been subject to any recalls. This information is often available on the manufacturer's website or through consumer safety organizations. A recalled chair might have design flaws that could compromise your child's safety.
9. Regularly Inspect the Chair
Once you have the chair, inspect it regularly for any signs of wear and tear. Look for loose screws, cracks, or broken parts that could pose a hazard. Regular maintenance can extend the life of the chair and keep it safe for use.
10. Educate Your Child
Teach your child how to use the chair safely. Explain the importance of sitting properly and not standing or jumping on the chair. When selecting Preschool furniture in Delhi, ensure it is sturdy and child-friendly to prevent accidents. Set a good example by using chairs appropriately yourself.
Tips for Using Kids' Chairs Safely
1. Supervise Younger Children
Always supervise toddlers and younger children when they are using chairs. Even the safest chair can pose a risk if a child decides to use it in an unintended way.
2. Create a Safe Environment
Place the chair in a safe area away from sharp corners, electrical outlets, or objects that could fall, ensuring that the floor is even to prevent the chair from tipping over. When selecting Kindergarten furniture in Delhi, make sure it adheres to these safety standards to provide a secure environment for children.
3. Use in Appropriate Settings
Ensure that the chair is used in appropriate settings. For instance, a dining chair should not be used in the playroom where a more robust design might be necessary. Specialized chairs for different activities can enhance safety and comfort.
4. Avoid Overloading
Do not allow multiple children to sit on a single chair if it’s designed for one. Overloading can cause the chair to break or tip over, leading to potential injuries.
5. Teach Safe Sitting Practices
Teach your children to sit properly in chairs, with all four legs on the ground. Discourage them from leaning back, standing, or jumping on the chair, as these actions can lead to falls and injuries.
Conclusion
Safety should always be a top priority when buying and using kids' chairs. By choosing the right chair, regularly inspecting it, and teaching your children how to use it properly, you can create a safer environment for your kids. Remember, a little caution goes a long way in preventing accidents and ensuring that your children can enjoy their chairs comfortably and safely.

Tea and Roses
Summary: Two months after moving away from Storybrooke, Belle receives a surprise visitor. The conclusion to priest!Gold fic, Brimstone and Mistletoe.
A/N: This was supposed to be posted for Fluffapalooza, but *shrug emoji*.

The whistle on the kettle trilled through the small apartment, and Belle rushed to take it off the burner. She glanced over her shoulder to make sure Gideon was alright. He let out a happy little squeal from his spot on the rug, waving the little soft crinkle book in his fist.
Belle let out a sigh, pouring the hot water from her kettle over the teabag in her mug. It was a Sunday morning, and she was trying to do something she hadn’t done in ages: relax.
She left the tea to steep, going back to the living room to sit next to Gideon. He wasn’t much for tummy time, but the pediatrician said it was important for his future development. He seemed content for the moment though, so Belle leaned back against the sofa at her back, watching her son.
Gideon rolled himself onto his back, giving Belle a gummy smile and her heart clenched. At five months old, he was starting to look so much like his father. His eyes had darkened from newborn blue to an achingly familiar warm brown. The little dimples that blossomed on his cheeks when he smiled, the soft brown color of his hair, every bit of it screamed who his father was to anyone paying attention. It was part of the reason Belle had moved to Boston in the first place.
Only part of the reason though. It was true that Storybrooke had seemed a colder place once it became impossible to hide her pregnancy. But even that hadn’t driven Belle from Maine.
She just couldn’t stay there. She couldn’t catch his eye across the street, she couldn’t see him in the shops or at the diner, and pretend he meant nothing to her. She was sure her face betrayed her anytime they did happen upon one another. It was why she’d stopped going to church. It was why she’d avoided him. She would ruin him, and she loved him too much for that.
Belle leaned down to press a kiss to Gideon’s chubby little cheek before helping him to roll back on to his tummy.
“We’re not done yet, Gid,” she chastised him gently. Gideon let out a little fuss and Belle moved a few of his favorite toys in front of him to distract him. Then she took the five steps to the kitchen to fetch her tea.
The apartment wasn’t much, just a one bedroom flat and even that was stretching her paycheck to its limit. They’d need a bigger place as Gideon grew, but for now it was enough. He slept in a little cot beside her bed, and Belle liked the excuse to keep him so close. She wished she could provide her son with a beautiful nursery, filled with fluffy stuffed animals and cute pictures on the walls. But she was afraid she’d never be able to provide him with material luxuries. She’d go to the ends of the earth to keep him healthy and happy though. And she could offer all the love in the world.
Perhaps they wouldn’t stay long in Boston. They could always move on to some other small town with a lower cost of living. Her heart twisted at the thought. For now, at least, Father Gold knew where they were. If they moved on further, she’d never hear from him again.
Not that she expected to hear from him. Even in her wildest flights of fancy, she couldn’t imagine it. He’d told her he loved her, but he’d let her go. He’d made his choice, and she had to live with it. No matter how she wished their circumstances were different, she was well aware he was unavailable the night they’d fallen into bed together. She’d made a choice as well.
Belle blew across the surface of her tea, tossing the bag in the kitchen wastebasket. Gideon had lifted himself up on his hands, getting his whole top half off the floor. Belle glanced around the cramped apartment, at all the potential hazards of pointed furniture edges and electrical outlets. Gideon would be crawling soon and it was high time to babyproof further. That was a problem for tomorrow Belle, however.
Instead, she flipped the TV on, a commercial for a jeweler filling the screen and reminding Belle of the upcoming holiday. Valentine’s Day was in two days, not that Belle had any special plans. Gideon was too young for candy hearts and sweets, though she looked forward to celebrating holidays with him as he got older, and she certainly didn’t have any other Valentine’s. Her co-worker, Tevin, had invited her out for drinks, but she’d politely turned him down saying she’d never be able to find a sitter at such late notice. It was almost comical the way Tevin’s eyes widened, his face falling at the realization she was a mother. Even if Belle’s heart had been remotely available, she was sure Gideon would scare away most men. Being a single mother of a baby so young almost certainly led people to believe there was a very recent ex in the picture, sharing custody and hanging around all the time. That wasn’t the case for Belle, but she didn’t feel the need to over explain her situation to anyone.
So Belle was planning to spend the night alone, perhaps she’d splurge on a bottle of wine and watch a Jane Austen adaptation on TV. She could imagine a world where Mr. Darcy or Captain Wentworth or Mr. Knightley swept her off her feet. And, if they all seemed to morph into the same man, with sad brown eyes and a weary little smile, she’d just go to bed early and try to forget about him.
It was no fun having a broken heart on Valentine’s Day. It was even less fun when you’d broken your heart yourself. She didn’t blame Father Gold for any of this. It had been her doing. She had kissed him first. She had seduced him. She had let her stupid little crush run wild and now she was here with the consequences. Not that she’d ever consider Gideon to be a burden. He was the very best thing that had ever happened to her.
But Father Gold couldn’t uproot his life over her mistake. He would lose his job, his community, everything he had ever known. Belle was used to being on her own. She had been since she broke off her engagement back in Australia, not hearing a peep from her father since. She could do this on her own too.
Gideon had rolled on to his back again and she put her tea down on the coffee table before scooping him up, balancing him on her hip.
“Had enough?” she asked.
Gideon just babbled happily at her, reaching one chubby fist out to wrap in her hair, giving it a painful yank.
“Ouch!” she exclaimed, and Gideon’s eyes widened. “No pulling hair, sweet thing!”
She bent to kiss his little neck and he giggled uncontrollably. He was so ticklish. She wondered if it was something else he’d inherited from his father like his eyes and his dimples, and assumed she’d never know.
There was a knock on the door and Belle set Gideon on the floor once more, raking a hand through her tangled hair. She was a fright, unshowered and dressed in her favorite pair of leggings that were starting to pill on the thighs, and an oversized t-shirt. But there wasn’t one single person she was trying to impress in Boston, so there was no harm in answering the door. It was probably just Mrs. Howe from next door come to yell at her again that the TV was on too loud for nine in the morning.
She threw the apartment door open, looking out into the hall expectantly, but there was no miserable old lady in house slippers waiting for her. Instead her heart stuttered to a stop at the person on her doorstep.
“Father Gold,” she said, her shock turning to confusion.
He had a dozen roses clenched in one hand, a gift wrapped box wedged beneath his other arm. He looked as dazed as she felt, his dark eyes raking over her face as though desperate for the sight.
“Belle,” he said breathily.
“What,” she paused to swallow, needing to wet her suddenly dry throat. “What are you doing here?”
“Oh, these are for you,” he said, holding out the flowers in his hand. Belle took them instinctively.
“They’re beautiful,” she said with a small smile, taking in the crimson blooms. “But you came all the way to Boston to give me flowers on February the 12th?”
Father Gold looked down self-deprecatingly, shifting his feet with uncertainty.
“No, no,” he said, glancing up at her from beneath a curtain of his dark hair. “I’ve, um, recently moved.”
“Here,” she repeated stupidly. “To Boston?”
“Yes,” he agreed, his cheeks tinging slightly pink. “Is that alright?”
Belle shook her head, trying to wrap it around the fact that Father Gold was here, at her apartment, hours away from Storybrooke. It was incongruous. Like seeing a teacher outside of school as a child.
“Of course,” she said finally. “You can move anywhere you like. Did you transfer to a new church?”
She wasn’t sure what this all meant. If he’d followed her to Boston it didn’t really change anything. He was still unavailable. He still couldn’t acknowledge Gideon as his son. Did he expect her to be his mistress? Like some renaissance era cardinal, fathering bastard after bastard? A little flame of anger, something she hadn’t felt in all this time, flared to life in her belly. Would he really keep her from finding happiness? She wouldn’t keep him from his son, but if her heart was to heal, they needed to keep their distance.
Gold just shook his head, a sad little smile crossing his features.
“May I come in?” he asked, glancing behind her into her apartment.
“Okay,” she agreed, stepping back. It wasn’t as if anything untoward could happen with Gideon lying on the living room rug after all.
Father Gold stepped inside, glancing around before his eyes fell on Gideon, his whole face softening at the sight of his son. The baby boy had rolled on to his back, finally giving up on tummy time for good, and was thrashing his stuffed bunny around almost violently.
“He’s getting big,” Gold said sadly.
“Yeah,” Belle agreed. “90th percentile for height at his last doctor’s appointment. No idea how that happened.”
“He certainly didn’t get it from me,” Gold agreed.
Belle found a vase beneath her kitchen sink, arranging the roses in it and setting it on her small dining table. Then she turned back to face Gold who was still staring at Gideon with a look of wonder on his face.
“So, what brought you to town, Father?” she asked.
He startled at being addressed and his eyes snapped over to Belle.
“Not Father, not anymore,” he said, laying the gift box he’d been holding beside the flowers.
It was then that Belle noticed his change of dress. He was still wearing dark slacks and a black blazer, but the black shirt and clerical collar were gone. In their place was a black and white checkered button down shirt she’d never seen him in before. In fact, she’d never seen him out of his collar or vestments, except for the one time she’d seen him in nothing at all. The night they’d made Gideon.
“What?” she asked, breathlessly.
Gold spread his hands wide.
“I quit,” he said.
Belle’s eyes bulged.
“You can do that?”
Gold nodded. “It’s called laicization. I requested to leave the clergy and it was granted. The church doesn’t really want you to stay if you don’t want to be there. It’s a calling, not a career.”
“Oh,” Belle said, her head spinning. He’d left the church. He was free . And he was here, in her kitchen.
There were few times in Belle’s life where she’d ever been anyone’s first choice. The idea that Father Gold, or Mister Gold, had given up so much for her, was a heady one.
His eyes turned back to Gideon on the floor and Belle felt a dawning realization. It wasn’t for her.
She bit her lip, tamping down her disappointment. She refused to be jealous of her own child. It was stupid, and fruitless.
“What will you do instead?” she asked, going to the burner where the kettle was still warming and preparing a cup of tea for her guest. It was the least she could do.
“I’ve always been handy,” he said, flexing the hands in question. “I got a job at an antique shop doing restoration work. And I have an apartment, and a roommate named Macavoy, another former priest like me.”
“You sound like you have it all figured out,” she said, her voice high and thin. She swallowed, trying not to be caught up in her emotions.
“Not at all,” Gold said with a laugh. “I’m quite out of my depth here, Belle. But I knew I couldn’t stay in Storybrooke without you. I knew I could never be fully committed to the church and my community when my heart was longing to be here, with the two of you.”
Belle returned to the kitchen table, handing Gold a cup of tea which he accepted gratefully.
“The two of us?” she repeated, not able to meet his eyes.
“You and Gideon,” he said with a little shake of his head. “My family.”
“So it’s…” she trailed off, not daring to finish her question. That he hadn’t done all this just for Gideon. If he had, it would be enough. The fact that he loved their son enough to abandon everything he’d ever known only made her love him all the more.
“When did you leave?” she asked instead. “Storybrooke, I mean.”
“Well, I requested laicization the day after Christmas,” he said, taking a little sip of his tea.
Belle shook her head again.
“The last time we spoke,” she began. “On Christmas Eve, you seemed so conflicted.”
He placed his teacup down on the kitchen table before rounding it to stand directly before her. Belle couldn’t help but meet his eyes now, honey brown in the morning light streaming through her windows.
“I was,” he agreed. “It’s a terrifying thing to give up the only life you’ve ever known.”
Belle sighed, stepping back from him.
“I never wanted you to have to choose,” she said, crossing her arms against her chest. She hadn’t meant to give him an ultimatum. She just wanted to tell him where she was going.
“It’s not a choice,” he said, cupping her face with his hands, forcing her eyes back to his. “Belle, I love you. Nothing beyond that really seemed to matter.”
A little sob managed to escape Belle’s throat and Gold pulled her to him, wrapping his arms around her. She buried her face in his checkered shirt, clinging to him.
He loved her. He was here in Boston for her. It was as though she’d been repressing her emotions for too long and the months of sadness could finally be expressed.
“I love you too,” she managed to get out between ragged gasps. “I love you so much I can’t breathe. I left Storybrooke because it was too painful being so near to you and yet so far.”
“It was agony for me too,” Gold said, placing kisses against the top of her head, his hand rubbing over her back. “I kept expecting you to find someone else, to fall in love. I could have lived with that, if you were happy. But you never seemed happy.”
“How could I move on from you?” she asked, looking up at him with her tear streaked face. “Even if it was a sin.”
Gold shook his head, his hand coming up to wipe away her tears.
“Loving you could never be a sin, but abandoning you, never knowing my own child, living a lie? That’s the real sin.”
He glanced longingly at Gideon, still playing on the living room rug.
“And it’s not exactly uncommon. The main reason priests request to leave the priesthood is because they fall in love, so they can marry.”
Belle’s eyes widened and Gold quickly released her, throwing his hands up. “Not that I’m asking you to marry me,” he said with a quick shake of his head. “But I would like to ask you on a date, if you’re free. I’ve never had a Valentine before.”
“You’ve made a good start of it,” she said, “with the flowers.”
“Is that a yes then?” he said, a shy smile crossing his handsome face. She wanted to kiss him so badly it hurt.
“Well, dating is a little more complicated these days,” she said with a glance at Gideon.
“We don’t have to go anywhere,” he said with a quick shake of his head. “We can stay here and order pizza. Anything you want. I just want to spend time with you, with both of you.”
“Okay,” Belle agreed, a smile finally working its way across her face. “Then it’s a date.”
A matching smile crossed Gold’s face, a true one the likes of which she’d never seen on him.
He tipped her face up with his forefinger, placing a gentle lingering kiss to her lips. Belle gasped, wrapping her arms around his neck and deepening the kiss. She could kiss him now, here, or on the street, in view of God and everyone. There were no rules being broken, no reason to hide in shame. He was just Mr. Gold, father to no one but Gideon.
She smiled as she kissed him, her heart so full she thought it might burst. Perhaps this wouldn’t be such a terrible Valentine’s Day after all.
They finally broke apart, gasping for breath, their foreheads pressed together. Belle smoothed her hands down Gold’s chest.
“I like the new shirt,” she said with a little giggle. “Very handsome.”
“Thank you very much,” he said, a little sarcastically. “I’ll admit I haven’t had to shop for clothing in some time. My wardrobe could probably use a woman’s touch.”
“Then I’ll have to take you shopping,” she agreed.
“Oh, speaking of, I brought Gideon a gift,” he said, grabbing the gift box off the kitchen table. “It’s a blanket. I knitted it myself. It’s nothing special, I just…”
Belle cut him off with another brief kiss, her hand trailing through the hair at his nape.
“Do you want to meet your son?” she asked when they pulled apart.
“More than anything,” he agreed.
She entwined her fingers with Gold’s pulling him with her to the living room. Then she scooped Gideon up, handing him carefully over to Gold. He handled the baby expertly, cradling him against his chest. Gideon looked up at his father with inquisitive dark eyes.
“This is your Papa, Gideon,” Belle said, tears springing to her eyes as she said the words. “And you’re going to be seeing a lot more of him now.”
“I’m your Papa,” Gold repeated. “And I’m here to stay.”

The World Could Be Beautiful, a Tales of Symphonia ‘fic (Chapter 8)
Word Count: 43,770 Summary: After a chance encounter in Izoold, Raine and Regal both get a lot more than they bargained for. (A one-night stand 'fic with consequences.) Chapter Summary: Feelings have a way of coming out. Pairing/Characters: Regal/Raine, Genis, George, and assorted OCs as the story requires. Lloyd, Colette, and Zelos all show up later. Warnings: Blanket warnings for the entire fic: pregnancy (and all that comes with it), discussion/mention of abortion, power imbalance, fantasy racism. Rating: Explicit. (This chapter has sex in it. It's not detailed.) Genre: Romance/angst/friendship vibes.
The title is the link to Ao3 for Chapter 8!
Notes (to be read after the chapter) under a cut:
FINALLY we get some of Regal's perspective from the one-night stand and we get an exploration of his complicated feelings about Raine.
I know someone's going to laugh at how he keeps thinking that it's not love (and then proceeds to think things only someone in love would think) but it's all a part of the process. Trust!
He tries not to dwell too seriously on the George thing, though most of his thoughts of Raine circle back to George. He ran into her by chance (or was it fate?) and if he hadn't this truth regarding George might not have been discovered for a much longer period of time. It adds a silver lining to the situation: what happened with George really sucks, but at least Regal knows the truth now—and he knows to be careful moving forward.
--
Sara getting to try out the role of VP might seem a bit far-fetched but she can handle at least some of the position already, knows what the rest of it entails, and frankly with the world being the way it is, putting SOMEONE in the position ASAP is probably best for the company's stability.
At this point the average random employee will just assume George retired suddenly due to his health.
--
A lot of time passes in this chapter.
The first scene has Raine's pregnancy at about 15 weeks.
When Raine feels the baby move for the first time she's around week 20 (5 months).
For the last two scenes in this chapter, she's a little over 6 months along (which is when others start being able to feel the baby move).
--
As to that last scene, I absolutely knew the moment I typed it that I had to end the chapter there. 😎
It's funny because just like Raine at the end of the last chapter, I was waiting for the "right" time for her to confess. I knew I wanted to write a scene in the nursery between them where Raine felt like she didn't belong among all the furniture Regal had picked out for the baby because it was all so elegant and she was drab (fitting in with the weird "out of place" sentiment she gave off earlier in the story) but at a certain point in the scene I just knew it was the the kind of situation where she wouldn't be able to help but say what she was thinking.
If you can't tell, I'm very pleased with the outcome.
Regal is in full on Nesting Mode and Raine feels a bit off because she lacks the knowledge to nest. Her mind just defaults to necessities-only and she struggles with thinking of/wanting more. Even though she knows they have the money she doesn't know what to want.
With Genis she could only ever have what she could afford...which meant they both often went without even the things they needed. Having the necessities (food, clothes, a roof) is all that she can make herself really care about. It's almost like she can't think further than that.
So Regal gets the room ready in her stead and she has to deal with this weird mix of feeling like she didn't contribute at all (and that this might make her a bad/uncaring parent) as well as feeling completely overwhelmed by how beautiful the furniture is that Regal chooses. She never had the luxury of even a bassinet for Genis, so it's indescribably hard for her to understand a changing table, let alone an expensive ornately-carved one. She would have never chosen this for herself. She wouldn't have even thought to, and she doesn't know what that says about her.
Normally I think she wouldn't let "feeling like the odd one out" get to her to the point of actually crying about it, but she's hormonal and six months pregnant; there's a lot on her mind and the pregnancy is taking a toll on her body.
Regal explains why he did this (when he realizes she didn't pick up on it on her own). He knows she didn't have anything when she had to raise Genis and wanted to make up for that and ensure she had everything, even the things she couldn't think of for herself. She's spent her life taking care of other people so this is his way of trying to take care of her.
Raine's assumption that it was literally for the baby activated an almost competitive fear: that she doesn't belong with him or with the baby or in this world.
But Regal's admission that it was for her changes the whole meaning of the gesture in her mind.
And better yet, he sees her hurt and acknowledges it! He apologizes and offers to change what he needs to in order to actually help her. He doesn't get hung up on his pride of having done something elaborate for her. He just tries to work with her to find a solution that will make her happy.
The combination of realizing it was a gift for her to help her feel safe + how quickly he's willing to acknowledge he failed is ultimately what makes her FEEL SAFE & moves her to confess how she feels. 🤍
I'M SORRY YOUR HONOR BUT I LOVE THEM.

Thanks for reading! As always, feedback of any sort is appreciated.
