Yeah the Tibet/Himalayas thing.

There's at least like 3 ish werewolf things I know of that have folks catching the werewolf curse in Tibet or the Himalayas either from being attacked by a werewolf there or messing around with lycanthropus flowers from there.

Swipe File #4 -- "Werewolf in a Girls' Dormitory" (1963)

Werewolf in a Girls' Dormitory was a great high-concept horror movie title affixed to the U.S. release of the 1961 Italian-Austrian co-production Lycanthropus. The American distributors put a fair amount of effort into marketing the dubbed version, including 45 rpm records of the new theme song "The Ghoul in School," and a "Werewolf Kit," among other things.

The "key art" for Werewolf in a Girls' Dormitory features a screaming woman and a pretty great drawing of the titular werewolf. The latter image became moderately iconic, showing up frequently in newspaper ads (even for screenings which didn't include Werewolf in a Girls' Dormitory). It was re-used for a Spanish-language re-release of the 1940 Bela Lugosi horror movie The Devil Bat, and -- presumably non-licensed -- it can now be obtained printed on a sofa pillow, a cap, a cellphone case, etc.

The publicity material for the original version Lycanthropus was mostly photo-based and -- while decent -- didn't achieve the same sort of pop culture permanence as the U.S. version. One of the images was re-created for the Italian comic book Vampirissimo, with the werewolf changed to one of two "Vampire Siamese Twins." The other brother seems to have been based on Bela Lugosi and/or Christopher Lee.

Adrenaline rang in Brian’s veins. Every nerve on high alert, trigger finger still coiled until the counting part of his brain whispered the mag was empty. He reloaded a fresh one on instinct. The creature looked dead. Over a dozen holes punctured its furry chest and those razor-sharp claws now hung limp against the hardwood floor.  Lawrence’s Persian rug had started the evening in shades of cream and beige, but now it cradled a corpse as crimson spread along the silk. 

“Homo sapiens lycanthropus. More commonly referred to as werewolves.” Plucking a handkerchief from his breast pocket, Lawrence wiped clean the splatter of gore from his jawline. Three jagged lines shredded the edges of his suit jacket, evidence of the split second between the lycanthrope bursting into his study and Gamble, standing sentry inside, opening fire. Nothing human could move so fast. 

Finally, Brian lowered his weapon. The mag he had just reloaded unclipped and the topmost bullet observed, so bright it almost glittered. “Silver.” The look he cast at his boss would have made lesser men crumble.  

Lawrence merely tossed his ruined handkerchief atop the corpse. “An upgrade when you weren’t looking. And if I had told you what I needed protection from, would you have believed me?” 

Would he have? A question impossible to answer. Brian believed in what he could see. Touch. Kill.  

“You owe me hazard pay.” Shimmering bullets disappeared with another click. He didn’t need to play cool. He could delay examining the delicious idea of an adversary out there which might, finally, be an actual challenge for him. “And we need to talk about hardware because silver is soft as shit to work with.” 

Mr Lynch merely grinned.

I love a good werewolf movie.

Sadly, this wasn't a good werewolf movie.

I've never watched any really old werewolf movies like this one, so I really hope they're not all like this.

The movie itself seems way more interested in the subplots of adultery and blackmail, than the supposed main plot about the werewolf. There's no established main character to follow, so instead it hops around between characters talking about what they think is going on.

The only thing the movie does with any competence is pull off a red herring twist with the identity of the werewolf, but then wears out its welcome by dragging out the ending after the reveal.

Werewolf in a Girls' Dormitory is at least decent background filler, and if I ever need to make my own cheap indie horror movie with a scene of someone watching public domain horror, I'll probably put this one on.
