MCD Episode 1 Transcript

I apologize for the wait and for how long this post is. I was honestly jumping back and forth on what was too much or what wasn't enough because I wanted to ensure everyone was able to find what they were looking for. Whether it was only lore bits, details on the setting or just fun observations. I just said fuck it so you guys get everything. If you find or have any critiques on how to make this more organized, then by all means go for it! Without further ado, I hope you like this transcript.

Introduction [0:00]

Jess starts off by introducing the 2nd season of diaries

Shows us a signed book in her inventory that is titled "Diaries". It holds entries of all her adventures (in days) of each episode of the previous season (which I think is now non-canon and unconnected to Diaries). 

"I did a ton of crazy stuff. I had a family, I raised a village, I got a Pegasus and a unicorn! It was crazy, I even became the Avatar at some point. But like all good adventures, they come to an end. However, a new one is beginning right here, right now." [0:20-0:40]

The diary ends in, "My journey has ended, but a new one is just beginning…”

Jess shows us the little "headspace" room she's in with her cat, Johnny Cat. She puts the previous diary away on a shelf before heading towards a desk to begin a new saga of adventures.

Episode Starts [1:05]

The opening scene starts at the edge of the village of Phoenix Drop, where the forest (a mix of birch and oak) line meets the last pathway around a farm plot. A man in chainmail outlined with a golden colored metal with a helmet that only allows to see his brown eyes and the barest hint of brown hair peeks through (Zenix) is speaking with another man in distinct armor, white garbs with a long black cross-like symbol on the front and chainmail; his face completely covered by his helm (Garroth)

"What are we gonna do? Since our last lord passed away, the people have been going crazy. Not to mention, we're running low on local resources. And we have no connection to the other villages." -Zenix

"Zenix, do not worry. I have a plan." -Garroth 

As they speak with each other, Zenix turns around sharply, his head whipping around before his body turns towards a perceived disturbance.

"Wait, did you hear that?" - Zenix 

The frame zooms out to a man cloaked in black and green who is hiding behind an oak tree a few paces away. A single green eye peeks out from behind a curtain of brown hair, his face carefully hidden away in a black hooded cowl outlined in grey with an equally grey neck gaiter. He's wearing a long-sleeved green top with a brown leather waist belt (?) with a gold buckle. His hands are covered in elbow length (?) brown fingerless arm gloves (Vylad)

The mysterious man turns and takes off into the forest

Cutscene Ends - Gameplay/RP begins [1:28]

Aphmau has spawned into the world, with the typical Minecraft starting day cycle beginning. She's wearing a purple crop top, grey half gloves, short purple daisy duke's (?) and black knee-high boots with purple laces-outline. She's in the middle of an oak forest in a small clearing in front of a water hole.

She's addressing the viewers, "Day 1, and now it is time to, of course, find some shelter before the night falls."

Looking towards the sky above the treetops, she sees the sun just rising above. "As you can see, the day has just begun, so I've got plenty of time." Grassy oak-birch forest with alliums, orange tulips, and azure bluets. The sky is clear with faint wisp of clouds.

She begins to head through the forest, "There's a lot of trees around here, so I should be good in terms of getting like a crafting bench going and all that kind of stuff but let's just go ahead and try to find like a nice little hole." ((Real)) 

Aphmau continues to climb up hills, past birch trees, and through short grass sprinkled with roses (poppy’s), red & orange tulips.

She stops to examine small craters in the ground, displaying dissatisfaction at not hiding a deep hole

"That...that's not a-that's a terrible hole! I'm not going to go in there, but let's try to find, like a nice little hole or something I can-" 

She continues to wander past the hole and up to the crest of the hill. Only to stop at seeing a person in the distance.

Aphmau sees a mysterious hooded man in green and black (player username, Vylad) in the distance, punching a birch tree, gathering logs, and she runs in his direction, running down the hill and past the thick, low hanging, tree branches.

"Hey, there's a guy over there. Come here, I need to talk to you! I need to find a nice little hole. If you happen to know like" 

She stops as she comes upon his previous location, he has disappeared 

"Wh-where'd he go?- Oh my god, he did..." 

She comes upon the birch tree he'd been punching and finds that he left it floating. She gazes at it in disdain and takes a quick peeved inhale before looking around. 

"...that really upsets me. The fact that-" [1:50-2:05]

While she's distracted by the floating logs of the tree, he waits in the background for her attention to once again find him. She continues chasing after him, to which he flees; seemingly leading her somewhere

Through clearings, flower patches (peonies, rose bush patches, dandelions), past a rather large watering hole.

"Come here! Hey! Come here, I need to talk to you-You just left that tree...you just really left that tree undone. You just literally were-" she keeps running after him, not stopping even when he runs past two men at the edge of a farm plot of wheat. 

"Oh my god, that guy is getting attacked by that guard."

The man leads her straight to two guards, nametags reading Zenix and Garroth. He runs past Garroth, who gives chase and attacks him whilst doing so. (Garroth hits him once (?))

Aphmau continues past them, even as Garroth walks past her to return to his spot. She looks around but sees he's disappeared.

"Where-Where'd he go? Where'd he go?...um alright. But...he's gone, but ya know what? He led me to a village. And there's some awesome guards here. This guard is pretty cool. What are you doing?" She turns back towards the two men before her and turns to speak with Garroth first. [2:30]

"I don't think anyone in the village will listen to any of the guards. Not after how terrible the last Lord was..." -Garroth

"Now that the Lord is gone, the village is in chaos. What are we going to do?" -Zenix

"Oh...oh! What kind of chaos is the village going through?" She travels around the wheat farm edge heading into the village onto the wooden plank pathway, past small huts, and a village library. 'Cause I could help out. I mean, I just spawned in the world so I could absolutely like take over this village and become the new terrible lord... I mean, awesome lord."

She stops at a tight intersection with a well in the middle. "...oh my god. OH MY GOD, there are so many people in here! Literally in this water!" ((The Well has claimed its victims))

She takes a horrified yet stunned look at how many people are trapped in the village well whilst also being greeted by the other town citizens like it's a normal occurrence. ((You know that one The Hole meme? Yeah, it feels like that)) [2:56]

The first person to greet her is Emmalyn the Librarian {"Greetings.}, followed by Dale the Guard {"Oh, hello. Aphmau, was it"}, Stephanie the Farmer {"Hey, what's up?"}, Jeremy the Guard {"Oh, hello there"}, Aidan the Farmer {Good day to you, Aphmau"}

She tries to go past The Well as she contemplates

"I don't know where that other guy went, but I-oh crap."

Not watching where she was walking, she falls into a hole. ((LMAO))

"Oh hey, here's my hole. Look at that." It's a small cave tunnel filled with stone, gravel, dirt, and large veins of coal. "This is a nice hole to begin in."

She begins to climb her way out the hole through a small gap to the surface next to another hut

"All right, so really, let's go ahead and see what's going on in this village”

Gets greeted by more villagers; Arthur the Farmer {"You must be new around here"}, Brendan the Farmer {"Oh, hello. Aphmau, was it?"}

She wanders back towards The Well, trying to get a vantage point of where to go next.

"So I got a lot of people here, and there's a lot of people literally taking a little nice bubble bath."

She gets greeted by a woman named Molly, the farmer, who is also trapped in The Well {"Hi, stranger."}

"And, um, I don't see that-"

She's cut off as she falls into the same hole she fell into moments ago ((Bruh, LMAO))

"Gosh darn it, I did the same thing again."

She climbs out and glares at The Well

"That is really going to hurt somebody, and uh, that's not going to be a good thing, and there's-"

She climbs the rooftop of a small hut and then looks down and sees a man with green eyes, black hair, in pale-bright green clothes, staring at her (Brendan). She stares back.

"Hey, look, there's like a bolin skin there, and who is that-?" [3:28]

She hops off the roof but is cut off as she, once again, falls back into the same hole. ((LMFAO and she teases Laurance for falling into holes when she's just as bad))

"Oh my goodness, that's the third time!"

She stands next to The Well, looking at Brendan, who hasn't stopped watching her.

"All right, first time shame on you, second time shame on me third time I don't know what's going on."

She turns her attention forward, down a long pathway, past two large farms. The one on the left has 4 plots; 3 of the 4 plots are in rows of 2, which contain wheat all next to each other, while the last row are carrots.

"But all right, so we got Brendan the farmer, and we have a bunch of stuff to work with."

The one on the right has the same setup principle as the left one, but a plot of carrots is set in between that separates the 3 plots of wheat. (Left: Wheat, Wheat, Wheat, Carrots | Right: Wheat, Carrots, Wheat, Wheat) [3:42]

She takes a look at the crops while slowly walking down the pathway

"We also have a lot of food here, which is something that was about to be a problem, but now that I'm actually here in this village, I don't have to worry about that anymore."

She gets atop the right farm's edge and begins to punch the carrots without, initially, replanting them

"All right, so let's go ahead and get settled in here. I don't think that they're going to mind if I'm here."

She proceeds out the farm, climbing up the hill towards a woman and a man who was watching her in the farm. The man happens to be Brendan, once again, watching her, but from inside a patch of lilacs ((omfg, he scared the HECK out of me. I didn't realize he was there until I looked at the paused screen)) [3:56]

“I mean Lilith the farmer. L-Lili-Lili-sorry. Lin-Linda-Lil-Lydia the farmer!”

She continues on past them up the hill until she hits the wood pathway, turning left, quickly looking around at a medium sized house with a chicken yard in the back and another farm of wheat before turning right back towards the center of the village back to The Well.

“All right so there's a lot of stuff that needs to go on here, but I think I'm going to go ahead and settle in this village. Um, I know I was looking for a hole but I kind of already found it down below, especially inside of the nice little well.”

She proceeds to run back towards the beginning edges of town, zeroing in on an oak tree.

“Um so first things first let's go ahead and start with the crafting bench. The basics of Minecraft. Literally visit-visiting the basics of Minecraft.”

She then proceeds to choose a tree near where Garroth and Zenix are still standing watch, and proceeds to punch the middle log, circling it whilst delivering precise precision jabs, collecting the logs from bottom to top. ((I just KNOW Zenix and Garroth are losing their minds LMAO)) [4:25]

“Um I think what I'm going to do is, I'm going to stay in this village now and uh, ooh! First achievement.”

“Aww I always love getting that first achievement because it's just like you're building your way up and I might even try to keep track of like, the achievements that I have. So that way I can try to get them all but I'm sure that will happen in due time. But let's go ahead get this village started.”

“Um, first let's start by fixing that stupid hole that's-that's incredibly annoying.”

She stops to look at The Well and the people stuck bobbing inside [4:50]

“Um and saving those poor people down in The Well. All right um, uh let's see this is nice-”

She stops and whirls around as she hears and sees the distinct sound of a burning zombie lumbering from the hole as it climbs to attack the vulnerable people in The Well.

“Oh, oh my god! there that zombie is about to destroy those people and I just realized that I spawned in with a bunch of really cool stuff!” [5:00] (Hotbar: 6 ½ health, 5 ½ hunger. Pet wand 1st slot, Doggy charm 2nd slot, Command Emblem 3rd slot, 33 Carrots 4th slot, 5 oak wood 5th slot)

All while she casually jumps from her perch above on the path down in front of the zombie. Punching it with the oak wood logs in hand.

She goes to show off her hotbar items, focused on them whilst also acknowledging the 2 other zombies that come burning and lumbering past her, focused on the helpless villagers in The Well.

“Um right here I have a Doggy charm, a Command Elm, and a Pet Wand which I'm going to use to destroy-!!”

She goes to try and hit them with the wand, but it does not work, retreating back before becoming determined (This type of creature must be under the effect of a potion of weakness to be tamed) [5:08]

“Oh okay…I can't use that okay. I'm just going to destroy them with my own bare hands!! I'll show these villagers how hardcore I can be.”

Knocking them back into the hole, kills both of them without taking damage

“There we go I saved you guys from the zombies.”

She earns and collects the XP and 2 zombie brains in slot 6 before climbing out the hole back to the surface.

“Awesome all right so you know we're going to have like a little rocky start here not as Rocky as these people because they're just they're just they're just terribly terribly doomed and hey there's a crafting bench here, so I don't even have to worry and why did I-”

Aphmau explores a large house next to The Well and finds it to be a Library, with books, a table + benches, and a crafting bench. She goes to use it but instead of interacting with it, she ends up in Brendans NPC interface which causes her to eat a zombie brain. She gets the hunger effect (Last for 30 seconds)

“Brenden you made me eat a zombie brain I…don't want to see you again! Just, just-just follow me, please follow me here. You need a…you need a since you're a farmer, I'm going to take you all the way over here because you could, this could be like, your little farmhouse Brendan yeah. Or Bolin since his skin is actually like a Bolin kind of skin.”

She leads him down the pathway past the farms and sets him up in a large house across from a very tiny house ((BABE HOUSE))

“So I'm going to put you right in here since I-I have some-some stuff to spare. You can come in here. See come on you, can do it. Aww man, I just housed one person-”

He then proceeds to run out the house ((me too buddy))

“Hey, hey! Where are you going!?!”

He proceeds to turn right back around to her ((he’s so real for this cause I’d be scared of this random scary woman too))

“Stay right here this is your house now Brendan it's nobody else's house but yours you have your nice little place.”

She leaves and heads back up the path

“I'm already being a better to-be-Lord than the other person was.”

She walks past 3 people but only one says anything {Adian the Farmer: Hi, stranger} [6:25]

“Hello, Aiden the farmer!”

“All right, Aiden is doing his thing, uh wow so now that we have Aiden, we have a lot of farmers here. I'm going to have to see what I can do as far as helping them all out.”

She goes back into the Library where she interacts with the crafting bench (taking a single plank, making wood to make sticks, and making a wooden sword and placing everything in her hotbar but the sword in her inventory) [6:38]

She crafts a sword, wooden axe and pickaxe

She heads outside and is greeted by 2 people: Stephanie the Farmer {Are you new around here?} and Jeremy the Guard {I haven’t seen you around before.} [7:13]

“Plus, we have a bunch of carrots, we have some zombie brains, um and we're going to free these people right here because they are just utterly dying.”

She observes while eating 3 carrots and 2 more people call out to her: Kent the Guard {Oh, hello there.} and Molly the Farmer {Greetings.}

She takes her pickaxe and destroys 2 cobblestone walls

“So let's see, I would at least like to have like, a nice little place settled into-”

“There we go, your free people run!” she watches as they all practically stay stuck only a few guards rushing out “Get out of there…” Dale the Guard free’s himself only to immediately fall back in just as Molly pulls herself out, turning to watch him fall only to turn towards Aphmau.

“Don't-don't okay…Molly just like, ‘hey I was in my bath, this is what this how I-this is how I get clean every now and then’”.

She looks to Stephanie, Emmalyn, and Molly, telling them to follow her. Stephanie { Where are you taking me?} Emmalyn {Where are we going?} Molly {Okay. I’ll come along} ((Molly, love, where are your survival instincts)) [7:43]

“All right follow me how about, you follow me. You follow me. I'm going to save the babes first. Come on babes, let's go let's go.” They follow and she takes them down the path to the tiny house across from where she put brenden.

“I'm going to-I'm going to move all the babes out this way! Oh look! They're all following me. They-they are all babes holy crap. All right so this is going to be the Babe House right here. Come on-come on in ladies. So you stay right here. Um or follow me”

The ladies then proceed to repeatedly open and close the door rapidly

“Actually if you guys-if you guys could stop opening the door that would be fantastic. It's kind of just slamming in my ear. Um, alright so you guys just stay outside of the Babe House, how-how about that? You stay there and then you stay there. There we go. Alright, so this is the Babe House right now.

She walks back to The Well

“Um I saved them, they are now in depth-depth, not they're not in depth, they're in debt to me.” [8:22-8:29]

She looks at the guards and people still stuck in The Well

“...and the guards, well the guards are really dumb. No wonder nobody's gonna listen to them!”

Acting- “I say villagers it's time we take a bath together, a bath we can't get out of!”

“All right so I don't think…I think the guards are pretty much doomed…um yeah they're doomed”, she says as she puts the cobblestone back, trapping those inside

She chops some oak trees nearby using her wooden axe

“Least try to upgrade my weapons, try to get some um..maybe a nice bed inside of my place? Um I don't even know if I'm allowed to have like the big house. I'm assuming that it's, I mean, I haven't seen like a Lord's house or anything around here, so I'm assuming that all these houses are up for grabs since the village is really kind of in like, quite literally, in chaos.” [8:57-9:18]

Walking back past The Well both Derek and Emma the guard both say, {“You must be new around here.”} [9:18]

“I-I actually am new around here and I actually haven't properly introduced myself.”

She looks into The Well and see’s everyone still in there Derek the Guard, Emma the Guard, Dale the Guard, and Kent the Guard. With Dale asking, {“Are you new around here?”} while Kent says, {“Hi, stranger.”} ((omg I did NOT remember Dale being in The Well THIS much-))

Aphmau goes to interact (chat) with Kent, laughing at seeing all the guards bobbing in the water

“Um Kent the guard..all the..nobody's going to listen to you guys if you keep acting like that.” [9:24-9:30]

He replies back with, {“You heard this from where?”}

Aphmau responds with, “I've heard things from everywhere, actually.” ((That sounds mad spooky ngl))

She goes to walk away but sees another guard trying to pass her fall into The Well [9:35]

“Yeah, see the guards just keep, they just keep going inside! they are so bad-”

She then falls into The Hole ((LMAO))

“-I got to fix all of this!”

She decides to take the opportunity to mine some stone (gathers 7 cobblestone)

“As I continue this series, I'm definitely going to have to make sure that I do a lot of farming.” [9:50-9:56]

She collects some coal from a nearby vein (collects 8 pieces)

Gets distracted by a name tag through the cobblestone (probably a villager in The Well) and then hears a cave noise

“What is that? What is that..what is that noise, that was creepy. That was like, really creepy!”

She goes back to mining stone as she notices that the sun is beginning to set (gathers 6 more cobblestone, making 13 in total)

She heads out The Hole [10:50]

She’s greeted by Cameron the Baker{“Oh, hello there.”}

She cheerfully chirps back, “Hello there, Cameron the baker! It's good to see you.”

She spies Lydia the Farmer on an adjacent rooftop [10:58]

“We have a lot of farmers here.”

She goes into the library just as Derek and Emma the guards call out to her again Derek {Oh, hello. Aphmau, was it?} and Emma{Are you new around here?} [11:01]

Aphmau heads to the crafting bench and begins to craft a stone sword

Adian the farmer pops in {You must be new around here} before going to stand on the crafting bench, looking at her [11:08-11:10]

“Why do people keep coming and Stan-why do people keep coming and-!” he suddenly disappears

Flabbergasted and slightly panicked, Aphmau looks around the library, calling out, “where did you go!?... What is going on? Where did he go? Where did he-”, outside the glass windows shows that it’s almost night time and she then heads back to the crafting bench to then finish up

“I'm assuming he went to bed but that was just creepy as heck! I mean, come on! You don't just stand on somebody's crafting table, look at them, and then disappear! It's completely rude!”

Aphmau quickly makes a stone shovel, stone pickaxe, and axe

“Okay, I'll go with it, if that's how this village wants to play. This is a little weird.” [11:34]

Aphmau then proceeds to make some torches, stating, “Of course, I need some torches, and I think we're going to set down some torches here in the village, if there aren't some there already. I don't think there are, uh, because just traveling around, I haven't seen anything crazy, but I'm going to go ahead and just..you know, kind of light up my area.” (Made 16 torches, placing 2 in the library before heading out; 14 left)

Looking around, night has completely fallen. She spies the guards nearby, still in The Well.

“I feel so bad for those guards. Okay, um so… I can't help but laugh at them because they're just being silly now.” (Placing 2 more torches on either side of the libraries door; 12 left)

Almost falling into The Hole again, she takes the rest of her cobblestone and covers the top half up

“Now- Oh god, I hear zombies.”

Going down into The Hole and places a few torches as she travels through it (5 torches; only 7 left)

“Let's just start to get the mine going, um, so I can start digging down deep and finding out feelings and stuff like that-” as she walks past another opening, placing another torch, she sees two mobs (creeper and skeleton) in the entrance but only the creeper goes to attack her, “oh God there's a creeper, oh god there's a skeleton.”

Drawing her stone sword, Aphmau fights the creeper off. Hitting, retreating, repeat.

“Go away Creeper! Shoo shoo shoo!”

She successfully kills it as it drops XP (3?) and two gunpowder. She runs to collect it, turns the corner and see’s the skeleton right there

She kills it, only losing 1 heart of damage and getting 1 arrow and XP

Taking a breath and telling herself, “she’s fine, she’s good.”

“I hear zombies and I don't like it. I don’t like it at all.”

She goes and mines a nearby wall, thinking the zombies are behind the stone (collects 12 cobblestone; 13 cobblestone in hotbar slot 6) before turning back to the coal vein from earlier (collects 8 coal)

Still seeing the nametag, she digs towards them to see if she can get them out (collects 19 cobble; 32 cobblestone in total)

“I still see more like, little health bar thingies, down that way, so let me go take a look in here, see if I can find something. ‘Cuz these guards-are they drowning? Like are they legit drowning?”

She mines a block and The Well water rushes past her

“Oh God! See I have a feeling that this would be a wonderful idea if-if-”

She places the block back and realizes the name tag is gone [13:58]

“Oh my God! Are they dead!? Did they die, did they drown!? WHAT! They're gone…”

Aphmau goes and mines some stone + coal (12 cobble and 2 coal; 44 cobblestone in total)

“I'm a little sad, but at least we know why the village isn't going to listen to the guards anymore, because they're just going to get themselves murtalized and stuff ((The little sniffle jess makes ;-;))

She leaves the small cave through the furthest exit, leading into the woods by the farms [14:32]

Collecting flowers along the way as goes back towards the housing area, she thinks about her next move, contemplating how she hasn’t properly interacted with anyone (collects 2 white tulips and lilacs)

Going towards The Well, she sees a group of 5 zombies (3 being attacked by the guards in The Well, and 2 she kills herself) [14:57]

“Oh gosh. Oh gosh! There they are, there's a zombies! They were trying to attack the guards”

Noticing the guards hitting the zombies from The Well

“Oh, the guards are smart, they're hiding themselves…you cowards don't do that. You got to come out and fight. Fight for your right… to party.” ((lol))

Aphmau breaks the barriers once more, with Dale immediately rushing out only to turn around ((with the speed)), knocking both he and Emma the Guard, who was almost out The Well, right back in ((LMFAO))

Seeing this, Aphmau gives up and walks away leaving The Well sides open

“I'm going to leave that open just in case the guards decide that they're going to stop being so flaky.”

Looking around curiously, she checks the small hut next to The Well and see’s Aiden sleeping

“Oh, this is where Aiden the farmer lives”

Closing the door, she goes past the farms towards the Babe House and Brendan’s home. As she approaches, she sees zombies going after them

“Then we got the-BABES! Oh, they need, they need help! They need help, they need help, they need help!”

Rushing forward, she slays the zombie at the door while a sleeping Emmalyn and Emma remain unaware of the chaos

“These babes are lucky that these monsters didn't go after them.”

Turning, she sees 3 more zombies trying to get to Brendan

“Oh gosh, oh gosh. Why are-oh my gosh! The zombies are trying to get my babes” ((Is Brendan being counted as a Babe lmao??)) [15:35-15:46]

She tries to get Emmalyn and Stephanie inside but they won’t budge so Aphmau hit’s Stephanie {Ow! Why did you hit me?} (losing 1 point of health; 19/20.0)

She apologizes to Stephanie but asks her to go inside, which she does, before turning to Emmalyn and hitting her too {Ow! Why did you hit me? Before quickly saying Oh, hello. Aphmau was it?} [16:09]

Tries to get her to follow her (clicking move instead of follow me), trying to explain and apologize for hitting her

“I'm sorry I had to hit you, I didn't mean to-...I really didn't mean to, but I'm trying to save your life here! I'm trying to save your life, I'm thinking of you. Come here-!”

Seeing that Emmalyn hasn’t come through the open door, she panics

“Hurry before the zombies and the spiders get in! Where'd you go!?” [16:24]

Going outside, she sees that Emmalyn has completely disappeared

“She does doesn't like me anymore, and I completely-”

Just like she predicted, a spider jumps from the babe house to Brendans roof and goes to attack her ((LMAO)) [16:30]

She kills it gaining XP and 2 string (losing 1 health point; at 5 health and 5 hunger)

Going back to the library, she goes past Dale and Gary the Guard, with Gary saying {Hey, what’s up?} [16:43]

“I’m going to go into my house (the library) and retreat for the night”

Aphmau proceeds to eat 3 carrots to fully restore her hunger and health (27 carrots left)

She turns seeing Emmalyn run in [16:55]

the mere concept of mcd and mystreet gaining new fans in the year of our lord 2025 fucks with me so bad.

i was in the laurmau/gaurmau TRENCHES. i was there when they dropped the nuclear bomb (aarmau), crawling through the rubble.

i experienced the fall of mcd in real time. i was huddled in my grandmothers bathroom trying to watch those last few episodes on summer vacation.

i had a book dubbed “my aphmau notebook” full of episode plots and character bios and pick up line transcripts and handwritten fanfiction that i carried with me EVERYWHERE (and i mean EVERYWHERE) for three years straight. i would assign my school CLASSMATES different characters and COVERED my binders in handmade posters and stickers.

HELLOOOOO MY NEW GAGGLE OF FOLLOWERS! YOU HAVE BEEN HEARD! Ask and you shall receive, I must give the people what they want. I’m still working out how I want this fic to go with how early or late in the timeline it starts, though I might mess around with the idea of flashbacks when they’re relevant. Bob’s not quite in this yet, but it felt necessary to provide a little somethin somethin beforehand. I hope I am up to Tumblr’s standards as a long time reader of fanfic, because I cranked this out over two days between prepping for finals and other activities (and wrote this entirely on my phone)

I am not very confident in this one because it is just providing basically a summary ofthe necessary information the best I can to set stuff up for the future, rest assure the normally paced story will be MUCH better 🙏

The faint buzz of the lights was the only sound in the room as a moment of silence passed between the two who sat across from one another. The woman with the clipboard looked up at you overtop her glasses, which now sat on the lower bridge of her nose. She shifted her position slightly, still looking at you with the usual intensity— or rather the lack thereof. She had an unsettling air of neutrality about her that always seemed to irk you.

“Barnes, for the last time, if you do not participate fully and truthfully in this session, you will not be given release. I don’t want to delay you any further, but rules are rules. I have to make a final report.” She spoke, her pen sat between her index and middle fingers as she gripped the clipboard. You meet her eyes for the first time as you slouch back in your chair.

“It’s been.. what, five years and you’re still calling me that? Even though I’ve told you that calling me anything else is fine? Barnes doesn’t belong to me. You wound me, Doc.”

“It’s what you selected to be put on your official documents.” She adjusted her glasses before looking back up at you. “Consider it for old time’s sake, then. But still, Y/n, you’re avoiding the question. In your own words, describe a brief history of your life. Including everything you’ve begrudgingly discussed within our sessions. We’re doing this so we can send a transcript to your next specialist. Wouldn’t you prefer to give your side of the story instead of just your records?” Taking in her reasoning, you glance at the microphone recording this session. They were usually recorded for security purposes but this in particular was for just for documentation. With a deep breath, you reluctantly began explaining your very.. humble beginnings.

Your conception was begun roughly around the late 60s, although conceptualized much earlier with the apparent success of the winter soldier program. A series of roughly twenty children were to be conceived from hand-selected pairs of up-and-coming male and female super soldiers, all based on their first and only success; the original Winter Soldier. You were lucky enough to receive your genetic makeup from the blueprint; as well as a promising young woman. It was an unfortunate truth that your conception was not a happy story. Genetic engineering was rudimentary at the time and they did not care to what extent their “donors��� suffered. Even with this reluctant knowledge, the intimidating man with the metal arm has cared deeply for you even in the circumstances you both found yourself in. He said you were a beautiful little test tube baby from what he remembers. Hydra quickly introduced you to one another in hopes of forming an early bond between soldiers, primarily in pairs with their best-suited parent. This was to not only establish partners that functioned perfectly together but to have something to hold over these people even when they previously had nothing. You called this guardian of yours “Soldat”, but much like you, he had no real name.

One by one, the adults failed the program or their children did. One by one there would be one less soldier. It was survival of the fittest, not only for being put against one another but for general survivability. Genetic modification was a large factor in many of the children’s deaths until few remained, then in your early childhood- only you. You were all that remained. In a desperate attempt to not have this all been for nothing, they put everything they could into you. Biomechanical enhancements to help your physical condition and functionality and a steady stream of serum to keep you healthy. For the first several years of your life, it was spent exclusively learning and training. Occasionally when the winter soldier was due for a mission, his break from cryostasis would be extended by higher-ups to train her. It was rough, of course, being a child training with such a violent force, but he cared whenever he could. For some reason, kneeling down before you to aid your wounds felt oddly familiar. Like he had done it routinely before to another little girl he cared deeply about. Hell, you even looked similar. But at the end of the day, his thoughts were irrelevant. His job was not to think, his job was to do as he was told. You learned this very quickly as it became clear that failure to understand this would result in something awful. You were a quick learner— you had to be if you were to continue surviving.

Once they decided you were adequate enough to be functional as a weapon, you began your cryogenic stints, only being woken up when it was time for another task. This wore heavily on your already fragile condition, even despite your inhuman strength. This also happens to cause another subsequent issue with you, your aging being incredibly messed up. Yes, you were conceived nearly 60 years ago, but you’ve only been conscious for a small part of that. In 2014 you were still practically a young teenager when the Winter Solider made his great escape. In his emotional distress, he made perhaps the most regretful decision of his life. He left you behind in the hands of the enemy, escaping without you. You only followed much later after being sent after him to end his life, but when you were met with the opportunity to, you simply couldn’t. You ran off, not back to Hydra, but going into hiding for the time being. You used what skills they taught you in case you needed to be self-sustainable until you could be recovered by backup, but it was hardly enough. It was incredibly challenging having to figure out how to get by on your own after being constantly monitored and treated by professionals. Not only that, but you were suffering from withdrawals due to Hydra forcing your dependency on the serum, as well as an injury from when you dug out your tracker from your bicep. You had a nasty infection by the time your “Soldat” found you, but he was joined by a strange new man who offered you help. His name was Steve Rodgers, that Captain America fellow you and the Winter Soldier were sent after a while ago. He was incredibly kind to you, even if you didn’t trust him. He was patient with not only you but him as well. The two seemed close- you hadn’t ever seen this side of him. This is also when you decided on your new name; Y/n Rebecca Barnes. Bucky chose your middle name, saying it was after someone special.

This is also when you learned a lot about the man you previously thought you knew. It turned out his name was James, James Buchanan Barnes. Even if his name was James, he seemed to prefer Bucky. He was also from New York City, where he grew up alongside Steve during the Great Depression. Over time you felt more and more distressed upon the realization that you didn’t know Bucky at all, let alone yourself. You realized early on that you were a reminder of a profound amount of trauma for a man who got mixed up with something he never deserved. You desperately tried making yourself better, especially for his sake, but there was only so much you could do. You still stuck to your habits, your purpose— to serve alongside the winter soldier.

You fought valiantly for your freedom, doing what you could to protect Bucky against these people who wished to get ahold of you both. Between half of the Avengers coming after you as well as the United States government, you were stretched pretty thin. Bucky swore that you both would get through this, that he would give you the life you deserved. He struggled to believe himself sometimes, but he knew he had to try. He would get better for you. He would atone for his sins by doing what he can for you. He had a life outside of Hydra before being captured, but you never got the chance. Without realizing it, you both became devoted to the safety of one another.

It would become apparent the world was against you both, as during a fight attempting to exit Siberia, you were wounded as you defended him from a harsh blow. Steve and Bucky were forced to decide between saving you or escaping, but you pleaded with them to follow through with the latter. They did, albeit begrudgingly, after Natasha promised Steve that she would look out for you until they could come back for you. Nat did this as best as she could and for as long as she could, but instead of going to the raft with the others, you were imprisoned in a top-secret base to be studied. You only got to experience freedom for a short time prior to this, so even if the conditions were considerably better than Hydra, it was still awful. You spent so long wondering if Bucky was alright, hoping your sacrifice wasn’t for nothing.

Nearly two years later, you were allowed visitation with Steve. It was a sweet reunion, almost immediately bringing your worry over Bucky to an end, but it ultimately was to discuss something very important. None other than your possible pardon. There was something brewing and all hands on deck were needed; including you. After all, you were a world-class assassin. Plus, Wakanda was developing a cure for Bucky whilst being a refugee there. It was nice to know he was somewhere safe even if he missed you as much as Steve said he did, based on what he’s heard from communicating with T’Challa and Shuri about his condition. With vague permission from the United States government, you headed out with Steve’s team to Wakanda. You and Bucky were going to be together again and fight together, just like it was for old time’s sake.

When you walked through the central part of Wakanda, your mind was elsewhere, not taking even a moment to admire your surroundings. You were only focused on getting back to him as you walked silently behind Steve. You weren’t used to being in foreign places without Bucky so you were completely on edge, even with Nat doing her best to make sure you didn’t freak out completely. Steve was the first one to greet Bucky as he was led by T’Chally. The two were happy to see one another again, Steve giving him a hug and exchanging fond remarks. Once they parted from the hug, Bucky saw you standing there. You had grown up slightly, a sight he wasn’t used to seeing. It made his heart ache as he took you into his arms as tightly as he could without harming you. It was hard not to allow the tears brimming your eyes to fall in front of your allies, but Bucky still held you close and buried his face into your hair as you instinctively nuzzled into his neck. Quiet exchanges of how much you missed one another were shared. As you both parted, he moved his hands to your shoulders. He looked at you with the most love you had ever seen before quietly remarking. “You’ve grown up. It’s good to see you, kid.” It was a very genuine sentiment he shared, as for the entirety of his time caring for you, your survival was not guaranteed. He never thought he’d be able to see the day when you look like you’ve gotten a chance to regroup yourself.

You spent what time you could together discussing what life had been like over the last two years for the both of you. He lived a peaceful life as a farmer, while you were under the care of the United States government. You both received very different treatments for your brainwashing, with his somewhat holistic treatment being more successful than your purely clinical and scientific one. Your brain was poked and prodded, while he received therapy. Bucky told you that once this was all over, the Wakandans said they could help you too. It gave you hope, more than you’ve had in a very long time. Soon after this conversation, it was time for what you came here for. Saving the world.

Loss was a thing you had become accustomed to a long time ago. But this felt incomparable. The fight was over, Thanos had won. He had successfully removed half of all life and with just the snap of his fingers, you watched the only person you’ve ever trusted turn to dust. He was gone and it felt like you had nothing left. With the chaos that followed this, you returned home with Steve. He did his best to console you but he was struggling with the loss of his best friend for the second time. Because of the aforementioned chaos of the situation, the government essentially went on lockdown while it attempted to regain control over the situation. This unfortunately meant your incarceration for the second time with no end in sight. You had no one left to fight for you. Steve certainly tried, as he knew that’s what Bucky would’ve wanted, but he could only do so much. He was spread thin after the blip and you fell through the cracks.

You would remain in prison for five years, with constant experimentation traded for frequent monitoring performed. It felt as though you were forgotten about and would never taste that sweet, sweet freedom again. You always thought you’d die alone and without any freedom, but after having it for such a brief moment in your life, it only seemed to twist the knife into the wound. You forced yourself to adjust and get used to it, just like you always had. You grew accustomed to the monotony of constant scheduling very quickly. It became a cycle of government-mandated therapy, frequent checkups, and doing what you could to use up the passage of time. You received permissions for good behavior that were enough to keep you somewhat sane for the most part. Steve visited you when he could, but one day he stopped coming. You learned why when you saw the news: the 50% that had been lost were returning.

Now here you were. About a month or two later, still in here. The only word you got was from the news on the television, making the theory you genuinely had been lost to time all the more real and fearful. That was until a week ago. You received mail for the first time in a long time— an official government document. Your case of a pardon was being reopened; alongside Bucky’s. That’s what brought you here. You were having your last mandatory session within your prison before you were being released, and boy were you thankful to get out of here.

“Well, aren’t we both glad I remembered to hit record? I believe we are just about out of time.” Doctor Miller spoke as she placed down her clipboard.

“What, no ‘same time next week’?”

“Not this time. Enjoy your long-awaited freedom, Y/n. It was good treating you.”

Wormhole X-Treme by Nindulgence. Fandom: Stargate Atlantis

This is a fake imdb page for a TV show that doesn't exist. Ok so for context, in Stargate SG-1 there's a show within the show called Wormhole X-Treme which is basically Stargate, and they play it for comedy. (supernatural has a similar thing). Stargate Atlantis is a spin-off of Stargate SG-1 and so this is the IMDb for the spinoff that would exist in universe.

Trivia: In episode 1.3 ("If Food Be the Food of Love..."), the "harvest banquet" clearly consists of a dozen or so Swiss Chalet quarter-chicken dinners with fries. In addition, the "alien sweetmeat" containing the hidden aphrodisiac appears to be a chocolate Timbit. (more)

The Moon Represents My Heart by afrai. Fandom: Star Wars: Rogue One

This is theeee Baze/Chirrut fic and it's gorgeous and so star wars and so them and also I get the song stuck in my head every time I see the title so that's also good. If you haven't seen Rogue One, Baze and Chirrut are both Jedi religion affiliated, with one of them being more of a believer than the other. They are devoted to each other and it's one of the dynamics I'm the weakest to, which is "I won't let you do that stupid thing without me, even if we both die trying." Which they do at the end of the film, but this fic shows so much how theirs was a beautiful life worth living.

This fic is actually a great one to introduce people to the concept of fanfiction with, a topic I'm happy to get into more, but basically you don't need to be fannish about transformers or know anything about it other than, you know, the cultural osmosis (i know this because i've never seen transformers). And then it does a really political plot with robot sex in the middle. It's a crowd pleaser.

And it's theeee pinnacle of yearning it's unreal I re-read this fic regularly just to feel things. You ever read a narrator so unreliable you want to roll around in their mind forever and ever?

Greetings fellow surfer of the web ! I have interest in contributing to the Aphmau fandom wiki as I have noticed many sections are outdated or outright missing . As you seem to be knowledgeable in this subject , may I inquire in which ways I could possibly be of assistance? Essentially what're your tips for someone hoping to add to the wiki and do you know of any sections that do specifically need information added

hooray hello!!!!! I'm currently one of the top aphmau fandom wiki contributors and at this moment there's only... maybe 2 or 3 other consistently active contributors so I'm glad you're interested

here's some pages that need love off the top of my head:

-every single ultra nova episode article is currently a stub. needs blurb, summary, video (trivia can be discarded)

I've already filled every single Phoenix Drop Days episode and almost every character article so I believe its Dreams of Estorra, Ultra Nova, Heart Point, Mod Mod World, and MyStreet Side Stories that are very lacking in characters and episode information

-the later episodes of mcd season 3 articles are also quite barren. there's many many mcd episode articles that are barren that need more info, though, but I think season 3 is p important

-the intro text at the top of every mystreet episode articles should be fact checked ex: "Xyz" is the 4th episode of MyStreet: whatever. It premiered on April 4th." Sometimes the dates or names incorrrect.

-Many many pages need to actually downsize instead of upsize. Popular pages of the main MyStreet cast are utterly flooded with far too much long winded information. mystreet aphmau, aaron, kim, kawaii chan, and ein come to mind. Episode summaries as well are very long winded and ironically need to be summarized

-the most sensitive pages I'd say are Mys Aphmau, Mys Ein, Mys Zack for ykw... I personally believe in the red herring jess promised but most other people think otherwise so I'm completely at a loss as to assemble the relatives part of their wiki and stuff.

-The most vandalized pages tend to be garroth/laurances pages in mys and mcd because garrance vandalism lol but there are pages out there that I dont know of that may have some random junk written in the corner

-I would love to figure out a way to better format Transcript pages since all of them currently look like a mess and are difficult to read.

-many characters need an "Episode Appearances" section on their pages

this is all I can think of right now :D hope more people help clean up and contribute to the wiki together 🤝🤝🤝

on the other hand, with mys dante ending up in the mcd universe, itd be even Crazier because mys dante (who is used to having the internet and a car and big cities etc) is now stuck in the medieval era. thankfully mcd dante is here to help!! except he does a horrible job of helping bc he just goes "well im sure he'll figure everything out!" and then hands mys dante a sword - and is shocked when he ends up getting injured. mys dante doesnt mind because running around and throwing himself into danger is fun (especially when he gets to do that with a "friend" (read: boyfriend who he hasnt figured out hes dating yet))!! mys dante is also Struggling because adhd meds dont exist yet and his brain is completely fried and he can barely function until zoey figures out how to make potions thatll help. which leads to mys dante bouncing off the walls and mcd dante having to practically drag him to bed every night to get him to go to sleep, until mys dante Finally is able to function properly again

and, of course, the inherent romantic comedy of "i cant be in love with this other version of myself nope nope nope- oh god the other version of me is hot". the first time they kissed they stared at each other for a solid five minutes before mcd dante went "so uh.... yeah....." and mys dante just went "that was like... kissing myself. haha"

they are both Dumb and do not know how to function correctly around each other. they are mischievous silly little guys who cant stop getting into trouble and getting injured and doing stupid shit (but its ok bc their friends somehow keep them from getting themselves killed). and also they definitely tried to make out in a tree but ended up falling out of it and getting hurt. and at one point they tried to make out underwater and somehow didnt realize how stupid of an idea thatd be until they almost drowned. theyre gay and silly and dumb ur honor

MCD Rewatch S1 Ep35: Mask Revealed

Do you need to watch this? 30% some parts kinda rule ngl

Is it fun to watch? i truly don’t know what to say here. on one hand we get rad shadow knight stuff (big win). on the other hand, the fetish maids get plot relevance (big loss).

Plot Summary: Aphmau refuses to give the wyvern wood to the old man and he reveals himself to be Zenix in disguise! He proudly states he’s been a shadow knight since Garroth first found him. Zenix attacks and knocks Aphmau out, but KC and her animated doll army are able to save Aphmau from being carried away.

another person here who wants to get into QSMP but I dont know much about MCYT other than as a kid I really liked Mianite and MCD so Im very lost on whos POV I should watch. if it's not to much do you have any suggestions?

okay so qsmp POVs will slightly depend on how many languages you can understand! i've heard some streamers can be loosely understood even if you can't speak their language (such as cellbit), but that varies from streamer and honestly just from stream to stream

for english streamers, i'd recommend philza! especially if you were a captainsparklez main for mianite. his pov includes a lot of the bigger lore due to him being pretty regularly online. alternatively, badboyhalo is also very involved! for lighter streamers (that don't stream for like 10 hours), jaidenanimations is a good go-to!

for spanish streamers, i'd say roier or maximus! both of them are very active and involved, maximus especially! roier is a personal favorite of mine, but i am also Extremely Biased.

for portuguese/brazilian streamers, cellbit has very quickly become everyone's blorbo. as i said, i've heard his overall Vibe can be understood even without speaking portuguese, and he has his in-game transcription set to translate to english whenever he's mainly speaking portuguese!

Garte Ro’meave: What Is This Guy’s Deal?????

(And why he is likely a Shadowknight)

You all know him, you all hate him: Garte Ro’meave is the Lord of O’khasis, as well as Garroth, Zane, and Vylad’s father. He has quite a reputation both in universe and among fans, despite never physically showing up within MCD. So just who is this guy and what the hell is his deal? I’m compiling a bunch of the stuff we know about him here in this post. For fun.

Mid S1, Garroth mentions a time when Garte fell ill and had a near-death experience. It is my firm belief that when Garte fell ill, he actually did die from his illness. However, through dealings with the Shadow Lord, he was revived with a greater lust for power, and sought control over the surrounding land. Thus his miraculous recovery, and corruption of character soon after. 

Lemme break it down for you. 

(WARNING THIS POST IS LONG. IT’S OVER 4K WORDS. PROBABLY 5K IF YOU COUNT THE SCREENSHOTS. SERIOUSLY I WARNED YOU.)

GARTE’S ORIGINS

So it’s no secret that MCD’s lore is... inconsistent... You can find hints of the current story and what most fans consider to be truly “canon” within the early bits of the old story. So who was Garte in the early episodes of MCD? I think this transcript of a conversation between Aphmau and Lord Burt is a pretty good introduction, so let’s check it out:

Sooooo yeah. If you’re like me, you’re probably sitting here thinking, “What the fuck are these guys even saying?” Because literally none of this is correct in the current standing of MCD lore. Don’t worry, you’re not crazy, and don’t try to think too hard about what’s going on here because Yeah: It’s not canon. It’s old, outdated, and the small bits of lore from this conversation that manage to stay relevant are almost completely retconned and overwritten.

MAINLY: This conversation is one of many alluding to the King and the Shadows, concepts which will go on to become Garte and the Shadow Lord. 

In early S1, there are plenty of instances of the King and the Shadow Lord being mentioned in conjunction. I’ll leave a few of them here for you, but don’t spend too much time trying to make sense of them. I could go on about them and what they might mean for these early versions of the overarching story of MCD, but ultimately it doesn’t matter because it isn’t consistent with what we know in the current day. 

Yeah. This is just a small amount. And mostly? All of this is an artifact of poor writing. A lot of MCD’s story and lore was changing as Jess was creating it, and this is a remnant of those inconsistencies. With our current understanding of the Shadow Lord in MCD’s lore, we know that he is actually Shad, previously a Divine warrior. Garte is the Lord, not King, of O’khasis, with a family and life of his own. Seriously, this is the same era of MCD where Zoey was a fairy and not an elf. Meaning none of this factual currently, and can’t really be trusted. 

However, that doesn’t mean we should completely discredit everything here, and I wholly believe this is a sign of something greater going on between these two. Just keep in mind that even in the earliest version of this story, the concepts that went on to be the Shadow Lord and Garte, Lord of O’khasis, were intrinsically linked.

GARTE, GARROTH, AND ZANE

Ok, time to get into the real stuff. Let’s go over how Garte’s first two sons view him. Both of these images are from S1 Ep52. Here is what both Zane and Garroth have to say about their father:

I’d also like to put this line from S1 Ep68 here for consideration:

Analysis aside, here is what we have stated plainly by the text: 

Garte is the Lord of O’khasis. 

Garroth suggests that Garte’s rule is not a kind one, and that he might as well be a dictator (or perhaps a King? ;] ) instead of a Lord. 

Garte is explicitly seeking to become King of the land.

Garroth trained as a knight while he was supposed to be preparing to inherit the position of Lord, which went against Garte’s wishes.

Garte later had Garroth engaged to the firstborn of Scaleswind as part of a treaty to encourage peace between the two villages.

Garte “disowned” Garroth when he ran away, but Garroth still seems to be considered part of the family (at least for business purposes?). For example, Garroth is still needed for the engagement with Scaleswind, and he is still considered next in line as the future Lord of O’khasis.

Garroth has reason to believe that should he reject the engagement again, Garte will use his power/influence to “do something terrible.”

Zane does Garte’s “dirty work.” (To the point where Garroth seems to believe that Zane’s presence in Phoenix Drop is actually Zane carrying out Garte’s will.)

And although it’s not very present in these images, Garroth repeatedly stresses during this time that Zane’s actions in Phoenix Drop are extensions of Garte’s. Therefore, any actions they take against Zane will be seen as actions against Garte, and by extension to, all of O’khasis.

So, Garroth dislikes Garte for repeatedly pushing him into things he does not want to do, and in turn Garte dislikes Garroth since Garroth keeps going against his wishes. But how does Garte feel about Zane? For that I’d like to bring in one more small quote from S1 Ep54. (The “he” referred to in this quote is Zane, if that wasn’t obvious.)

Zane is “loyal” to Garte and “does his dirty work.” He acts as an extension of Garte and his wishes, and he is given power in return. I think the S1 Ep68 line, “Zane knows where I am, therefore our father knows where I am,” is very indicative of Zane’s role here. It’s easy to assume that Garte likes/favors Zane, given Zane’s loyalty to him. But from what we know about Garte here… I’m not so sure. 

To me, it seems like despite all his attempts to get in Garte’s good graces, Garte still favors Garroth over Zane as the future Lord of O’khasis. Exactly how he feels about Zane is unclear, but Garte clearly does not care enough about Zane enough to make him future Lord of O’khasis instead of Garroth, despite how easy this could be for someone as powerful as Garte. Why? The answer is simple: tradition.

Garroth gets to be the future Lord of O’khasis, not because he wants it or is fit for it, but because he was born first. Garroth is set up to be married to the firstborn of Scaleswind because he himself is firstborn, and tradition states that to do otherwise is taboo. Garroth goes against Garte’s wishes time and time again, but Garte never truly “disowns” him, even though the second son in line is more than willing to do what Garte wants. Why? Because he couldn’t disown his son, he could never have something less than a perfect, ideal family, because to him that would be wrong, abnormal. (This is also why Vylad’s existence and Zianna’s affair bother him so deeply! But more on them later.) Despite how loyal Zane is to Garte, he can never be the future Lord because he was not born first. And despite being this all-powerful dictator with ridiculous influence and military power, he refuses to simply instate Zane as the future lord over Garroth, simply because to him, that just isn’t the way things are meant to be. Zane has power BECAUSE he is loyal to Garte, because working under Garte makes him an extension of Garte’s power, and not because Garte actually favors him. 

(This also works really well into what I think Zane’s mentality is through all this and how it shapes his motivations, but that’s a post for another time.)

Let’s also note here how Garte views his children as tools instead of people. Garte has Garroth engaged against his will to form a peace treaty between O’khasis and Scaleswind. Garte has Zane “do his dirty work,” to the point where Garroth even assumes that Zane finding him in Phoenix Drop is under Garte’s guidance instead of on his own, which is interesting. Essentially, he seems to have no love for his sons, and only uses them to further his own rule. He is a heartless dictator as a ruler, and is heartless as a father as well.

Essentially, Garte is a heartless ruler, father, and husband, who puts tradition above all else, even his own family, in his pursuit for further power. Wuh oh!

ZIANNA AND THE AFFAIR

It’s not a real post about Garte without talking about the affair! The best insight we get about this is from Vylad on S2 Ep61. Here’s another funky cool transcript for your convenience.

We get a couple things from this. First of all it lets us double down on the whole “strict traditionalist” thing, given his insistence on literal children learning in depth about politics because Garte Says So. The strict traditionalist thing also additionally feeds into why Vylad’s existence bothers him so badly.

I also want to point out Vylad’s insistence that Garte would have his biological father killed if he knew who he was. It’s implied here that Zianna also believes this, to the point where she has hidden his identity from his own biological son. I don’t have much else to say about this in relation to Garte, I just think this demonstrates really well the dynamic going on with him in relation to his own family here and just how little the people who care/cared about him trust him now (and how little they continue to trust him even in the short amount of time where he is doing better).

Lastly, I want to point out how Garte’s opinion of Vylad changes over time. I think it’s important to note that Garte, this man who we have established is obsessed with tradition and rules, is able for once to put that aside while Vylad is a child, even if it ends up coming back later.

This section’s a bit short, and that’s because mostly I want to use all the information here to build off some points in the next section:

GARTE’S ILLNESS (AND WHO HE USED TO BE)

This is kinda what inspired this whole post, mostly because it’s maybe the most overlooked piece of information we have on Garte. This line is from S1 Ep68, I’ll paste the screenshot here so you can read it for yourself.

As far as I know, this is the only time in the entire series that Garte’s illness is mentioned. There’s a couple things that are interesting to me here. For instance, Garte is a powerful lord who is well respected by his people. You’re telling me that with all the magic in the world, all the doctors and trained professionals, and with all the power and money he had at the time, he only barely avoided death? (And probably actually didn’t if he is a Shadowknight like I think he is but more on that later.) 

It’s very likely that this was not a normal or natural illness. It’s possible that someone else was responsible for it, or at least responsible for its unlikely severity. Either the illness itself was odd and caused in a way that made it hard to treat, or the treatment he was getting was poor. (It’s possible the Shadow Lord himself might be responsible, but there’s literally no basis or proof for that. There is also the possibility that Garte was never really ill at all, that some other significant injury happened to him, and him being “ill” is the coverup. But again I have no basis for this, besides the fact that this would maybe explain away the inability to get proper treatment.)

Despite all this, the most notable thing to me here is that combined from what we learned about him around the time of Zianna’s affair, we can tell that his attitude and general character went back and forth a couple times. Here’s a timeline to help visualize this:

(The “…” around Garroth’s birth is representative of the fact that we technically don’t know how he was acting around this time or before, but assumedly he was still a kind and respectable leader up until his first point of change after his illness)

The main thing I want to point out is that basically everything we know about Garte only applies to what he’s like now during his, for lack of a better phrase, Nasty Bitch Phase. I don’t think it’s much of a stretch at all to say that Garte acts the way he does today BECAUSE of whatever happened to him during his illness. If there was ever any good part of Garte, we as the audience have never seen it or it’s results. After recovering from his illness, Garte’s character shifted so drastically that Garroth goes from highly respecting him and wanting to be like him, to being afraid of him and what he might do. Garte changes so much that his own wife no longer recognizes him. It’s important to note that there was a time before the current Garte we know today, where he was a kind and just ruler who cared about his family. He was powerful as the Lord of O’khasis, but was not completely driven by his lust for strength and control. So nearly everything that we’ve learned up until now gets tossed in the garbage when discussing Garte pre-illness

The only incident that led him to act somewhat kinder after said illness was when Zianna had an affair and Vylad was born. This incident didn’t leave him with lasting kindness, (nor is it clear just how much better he actually was at the time. Depending how long this good period was, it’s possible that the “teaching children about harsh politics before they are ready” incident happened during this time.) and he reverted back to his Nasty Bitch Phase over time, but ultimately this is the only time after his illness where he was closer in personality to the “good” person he used to be. 

This is really exemplified by his treatment of Vylad. We know that in his Nasty Bitch Phase, Garte becomes deeply rooted in tradition and presentation. When Vylad is born, for a short time this doesn’t matter to him. Vylad, despite breaking the idea of the perfect nuclear family by his very existence, is treated like Garte’s own for a short time. And as Garte shifts back into his Nasty Bitch Phase, this value of tradition returns and his resentment for Vylad grows. But until then, that’s one of the few things we really know about Garte’s personality and what he values, gone for presumably a couple years. 

What this illness was, what caused it, why the treatment was poor, and why it changed Garte drastically into who we know him as in Minecraft Diaries is never explicitly stated. It seems like a rather permanently extreme shift of Garte’s mood, character, and ideals, to be nothing more than a worse-than-average illness. Leading me to my theory…

GARTE RO’MEAVE IS A SHADOWKNIGHT

Let me be clear that this is never explicitly stated anywhere within Minecraft Diaries, although I think given what we know about Garte it’s very very very likely. The short version is that the “near-death experience” Garte had while ill was him seriously actually for real dying, and the miraculous recovery is due to him then being revived as a Shadowknight. 

(And let me also be clear that this is not an excuse for his actions and how he treats people, but rather an explanation. Trust me I hate Garte as a person as much as the next guy. I just think it’s interesting to dissect who he is as a character and WHY he acts the way he does. I don’t care if he has 1 billion issues, it does not change the fact that he is a living shit stain <3 thank you.)

With that aside, let’s go over a couple characteristics of Shadowknights and how they relate to Garte.

DEATH

Let’s talk about Garte’s illness from a narrative standpoint. Without reading between the lines at all and just taking Garroth’s information at face value, what does this illness bring to the table story-wise? All it really does is give a (not very good) reason for Garte’s behavior. However, if the illness as a narrative device is useful for Only This, you have to ask… Why not just have Garte be a shitty person to begin with? Why waste time telling us about how he used to bea good person and isn’t anymore because of this illness, if this change and it’s cause has no significance otherwise?

The answer is that there is more going on here than what is initially visible. It’s not a waste of time, it’s trying to clue us in to a larger situation. It’s drawing significance to this moment in time, trying to get you to think about what could have happened here to cause this drastic change. Think on everything we’ve seen in MCD (especially things introduced around this time, I’ll touch on this in just a bit.), what do we know that could alter someone like this? Well, becoming a Shadowknight seems to usually result in a drastic personality change. And to become a Shadowknight, you have to die. And a near-death experience from an illness sounds like the perfect time for Garte to die and be reborn somewhat inconspicuously. 

And if this isn’t the significance of the illness then… what is? Genuinely I cannot think of anything else that we have been introduced to over the course of the entire series that this could be referencing or related to. It even parallels the Lords of Brightport and Pikoro potentially being put through rituals to become Shadowknights. We literally have a precedent for this sort of thing!

POWER

This theory explains why he gains a sudden lust for power. We have seen how becoming a Shadowknight can twist the person’s personality into something more malevolent multiple times within the series (most notably with Laurance in S2, although it is present with basically every Shadowknight that has made an appearance on the show). I can very easily see a Lord’s desire to do well for his people twisted into a desire for power over them. Many other Shadowknights within the series are driven by similar desires as well, seeing as Shadowknights are often created and sustained off the concept of desire itself. Vylad, in S2 Ep66, when attempting to describe what it feels like for him to be a Shadowknight, basically describes it as constantly wanting something that you cannot have. Gene was revived in the Overworld because of his desire to take vengeance on the people of his village. He is a perfect example of how a desire strong enough can result in a Shadowknight being born in the Overwold. I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that if Garte was desperate enough, he could become a Shadowknight in a similar fashion.

FAMILY

This theory also explains his lack of care for family, especially why he doesn’t care Now when he used to be well-known for it. Let’s look at some more lines said by Vylad, from S2 Ep66 at 10:19:

Vylad also says in S2 Ep96 at 14:49 that Shadowknights often leave their friends and family behind when they turn since it, “isn’t something a Shadowknight needs.” Taking these quotes and applying them to Garte almost exactly describes his attitude towards his own family. He no longer cares for his children or his wife, and literally uses his sons as tools and pawns. They are no longer family to him, he has given up his attachment to them in order to further his own goals. 

The only time Garte rejects this ideology after his illness is when Vylad is born. I think this can simply be explained by the fact that with effort, Shadowknights can hold onto their attachments to others, and that these attachments often ground them and help them act more like their previous selves. Strangely enough, we have seen examples of things like this with Vylad himself as a Shadowknight. Vylad was perfectly content with having all of his family think of him as dead, but hasn’t actually moved on from them. He reminisces on times with his brothers and mother to Aphmau a couple times, helps his brother Garroth get back to Phoenix Drop when he is incapacitated by an arrow in early S1, and only agrees to work with Aphmau in S2 after he learns that Garroth has gotten into trouble that Aphmau cannot immediately get him out of. Vylad admits to experiencing this urge to leave friends and family behind, but also very clearly makes an effort to care and fight against it, which demonstrates that with effort this urge can be suppressed. It makes perfect sense that Garte makes this same effort when his wife is in turmoil, but isn’t able to keep it up after the conflict has passed, causing him to fade back into the natural habit of disregarding his own family.

GREATER THEMING

As I went over in the very first part of this post, theming between kings and the Shadow Lord has been consistent since the very beginning of the series. A lot of the early lore about this sort of thing revolves around a king who is compelled to revive the Shadow Lord/bring him back to full power, which makes a lot more sense if our “king,” a.k.a Garte, is a Shadowknight, since reviving the Shadow Lord is their main priority. 

(And as a side note, we see multiple times in S1 where people and their magickal talents are sacrificed to give the Shadow Lord more strength. Do you think sacrificing an entire Continent of people would maybe be enough power to revive the Shadow Lord for real? And do you think a Lord with enough power to potentially take over an entire continent would be a good asset to have in that scenario? Again there is no basis for this, just food for thought.)

MISCELLANEOUS RELATION

O’khasis, Zane, and the Shadowknights have been linked multiple times throughout the series. Although most of these do not directly mention Garte’s involvement, I still think these are still important to consider. Zane did literally try to open a portal/tear to the Nether within Phoenix Drop in S1, during a time where Garroth stated that it was likely Zane was acting as Garte’s emissary. Jeffory, who served under Zane, is implied to have become a Shadowknight himself in the later parts of S2. Both Zane and Jeffory (but mostly Zane) are involved in “Shadowknight rituals” concerning Lord Burt and the Lord of Pikoro in S1 after Zane’s first Phoenix Drop incident, and it’s implied Zane does this to pursue Garte’s wishes of uniting all the villages of Ru’aun under O’khasis’ rule. 

This last piece of evidence might be a weird pull, but it’s also possibly the most damning of all. In Minecraft Diaries Rebirth Ep4, Zane is shown having dealings directly with Gene. Not only this, Gene is serving UNDER Zane. Gene is still established as being high-ranking within the Shadowknights, he refers to the Shadowknights as “his men,” implying possession or superiority above the rest of them. And yet, he is serving under Zane for reasons which are never really elaborated on? Even after Zane aggravates and antagonizes him, Zane is confident that the Shadowknights will not be a threat to him. (In fact, he seems more concerned about treachery and traitors within the Shadowknights than he does about Gene betraying him for his mistreatment.) 

We know Zane isn’t really with the Shadowknights, he refers to his own side being separate from the side of the Shadowknights later in the same conversation. And yet Gene takes orders from Zane, and Zane is confident that he will return to him at some point, and also not turn against him. So what compels Gene to serve under Zane despite disliking him, and what could make Zane so confident that Gene will be back? Perhaps if Zane serves Garte, as we already established, and Garte is a Shadowknight ranking higher than Gene. 

Think about it. Gene is so valuable to the Shadow Lord because his memory-manipulating magicks allow the Shadow Lord to have better control over the Shadowknights. This value is reflected in Gene’s high rank and respect among Shadowknights, which has been consistently above average since S1. If you think better control over the Shadowknights is good? Try control over potentially the entire CONTINENT. Because that’s the kind of potential Garte as a Shadowknight brings to the table. Regardless of rank, Gene would almost certainly have to defer to Garte in this situation, and Garte most likely values Zane as a pawn above Gene, therefore Gene deferring to Zane. Zane is obviously on his own side with his own ideals and ambitions, but because he is at least somewhat loyal to Garte, Gene is forced to be loyal to him in turn.

Also, I think Rebirth technically has a bit more canonical weight to it than some parts of MCD given that it is more recent, and given how many inconsistencies are in the early parts of  S1. Regardless of what was going on in S1, Rebirth is technically the most accurate and canonical source when it comes to MCD, which means that Zane and the Shadowknights relations cannot be disregarded. Their presence this early in the story of Rebirth, especially in comparison to the original MCD, should not be overlooked.

DIVINE

Let’s also remember that Garte is a descendant of Esmund (most likely, afaik it’s never actually specified in MCD but like. Judging by his Mystreet appearance, Garte looks like Esmund and Zianna does not, and it seems like most of the favored descendants Generally resemble the originals for thematic reasons. Anyways.) Corrupting the last remnants of one of the Divine Warriors who killed you and trapped you in Literal Hell seems like a valid villain move to me. Especially if the Divine Warriors and their relics are a potential threat to your plan, having a certain amount of control over one of those bloodlines/relics makes things a bit easier. This is more of a side note than anything, but I think it’s still worth including.

THE WRITING HABIT

This isn’t strictly a Shadowknight thing, but as a last note I’d like to point out just a little writing habit Jess has. She likes to tease smaller ideas for foreshadowing, and then elaborate on them typically a couple episodes later. I’m not talking about your typical foreshadowing, it’s more of a case where you can kind of tell that the story is being written only a little bit ahead of what is being recorded, and so you can literally see parts of the script in the future kinda making their way into little bits of the current so that they are better integrated. (And sometimes “future” is actually the end of an episode, and the “current” is the middle of the same episode. So yeah. great planning.) You can kinda see this all over MCD once you start looking for it, and I think knowing this habit means that we can look for things that are introduced around the same time to see if they are potentially related retroactively.

So some of the things introduced/addressed around this same time? Well literally in the same episode, immediately after Garroth tells Aphmau about Garte’s illness and how he changed afterwards… Laurance talks with Aphmau about how being a Shadowknight is slowly changing his personality and how he acts. Yeah. It’s kinda the first time we’re introduced to the idea of this within Shadowknights, in fact. Literally introduced in one conversation after the other. Coincidence? Possibly. But with all this in mind? I’m not so sure.

TLDR?

So yeah. Garte maybe died and became a Shadowknight. Or maybe Jess forgot about the whole illness thing entirely and therefore none of this really matters. Or maybe it’s been retconned since then. Who knows! MCD is a silly little enigma of a show and if you enjoyed reading nearly 5k words on an analysis of one of MCD’s worst fathers, then that’s all I can ask for :D

Twi’s Headcanons: The Aphmau Multiverse

So, two days ago I had a sudden idea to make the photo below, explaining all of my HCs of how the universe/dimensions/multiverse worked. I then spent an obscene amount of time in the middle of the night and the next day making it, and I decided it’d be cool to share it here instead of just discord (for once. I really love hc posts but I never get around to them usually unless prompted) (this post is 1666 words long oh boy)

Under the cut is a transcription of all the text in case it’s hard to read, along with my HCs concerning the Divine Dimensions specifically, as well as an explanation of the “inter-universal breach” in the bottom-left with VOID: Paradox’s universe. I think everything below explains enough, but feel free to ask if there’s anything else you’d like to know!

A Guide to the Aphmau Multiverse (As Headcanoned by Twilight)

Basic Info:

The Multiverse Itself: Every large purple circle is a universe. A singular universe may have many different dimensions inside of it, some being unique, but all of them have the fundamentals of life: a form of Material Universe, an Astral Weave/Garden, Gateway/Door of Judgment, and Aether/Afterlife.

The Universal Barrier//The Void: The Barrier is an infinite abyss of nothingness that separates each universe. If the Barrier is broken in any way (an object or being traveling between universes), the best way to describe its reaction would be like that of an immune system overreacting to some viruses; it begins attacking itself in the goal of destroying the threat. In such an event, The Void; an unstoppable parasitic force of nature, is released into all universes involved in the breach, essentially killing/destroying the entire universe and then resetting it completely.

The Dimensions within the the MCD/MS Universe:

Mortal Plane//Known Galaxy//Material Universe (including Earth): The world of Diaries, PDH/PDD, and Mystreet.

The Nether//Shad The Destroyer’s Dimension: the equivalent of Hell in Divine mythology, though Judgment does not actually send anyone there of their own accord. [Reached from the Mortal Plane via unstable ritual magic; Connected to the Astral Garden via Shad’s interference in the natural cycle of life/death.]

Astral Weave: Where the threads of reality weave together to create souls in preparation for the birth of a new being. [Unreachable to living or dead beings]

Astral Garden: Purgatory/where souls go after death and before Judgment. [Unreachable to living beings; Connected to the Nether via Shad’s interference in the natural cycle of life/death.]

Door of Judgment: The gateway into the Afterlife [Unreachable to living beings]

The Aether//Afterlife: The equivalent of Heaven in Divine mythology. [Unreachable to living beings]

Yggdrasil: An Alternate Dimension home to the humanoid race known as Elves. The majority prefer to keep their existence mostly unknown to Humans, but they have established a permanent link between dimensions in the Arctic Mountains of Earth. [Reachable via portal created by Elven sorcery in the Arctic area of Earth]

Wyvern Realm: An alternate Dimension home to the intelligent draconic race known as Wyverns. [Reached from the Mortal Plane via unstable ritual magic]

The Divine Dimensions:

[dimension artificially created by the magic of each Divine Warrior in order to store and protect their relic upon their death.]

Irene The Matron’s Pocket Dimension: A heavenly recreation of the cathedral on Phoenix Island, but also where time moves differently; a minute in there equaling a year in the Mortal Plane, meant as a representation of Irene’s infinite lifespan. [Created and reached via Divine magic]

Kulzak the Wanderer’s Pocket Dimension: A recreation of a ledge overlooking all of Phoenix Island, aka Kulzak’s favorite spot on the island, but instead overlooking an endless horizon with a landscape split up into every type of bioregion and terrain on earth; an explorer’s paradise. [Created and reached via Divine magic]

Esmound The Protector’s Pocket Dimension: A floating grassy island with a recreation of the Tree of Life in the center, meant as a safe haven. (the Tree of Life is a huge tree in the center of O’Khasis, said to have been planted by Irene and Esmound themselves after peace was made with the Wyverns) [Created and reached via Divine magic]

Enki the Keeper’s Pocket Dimension: An infinite library with an ever-roaring snowstorm outside, said to contain all the knowledge in the universe. [Created and reached via Divine magic]

Menphia the Fury’s Pocket Dimension: A grand recreation of the Colosseum of Montillego (city in Tu’la I created, pronounced Mon-tee-ay-go) [Created and reached via Divine magic]

More headcanons I have regarding the Divine Dimensions:

The reason all of them are so difficult to get to, is because due to being artificially created unlike the others larger ones, they each have a specific object and a location (both significant to the warrior) in the Mortal Plane that anchors them to existence; think of it like the location is the door and the item is the key. To enter any of them, a person must find this item and bring it to the location. However the secret of what the items and locations are is incredibly difficult to get. The Anchors are as follows:

Irene: a necklace gifted to her by Shad, and the Cathedral on Phoenix Island.

Kulzak: his compass, and his favorite spot on Phoenix Island (a ledge overlooking the entire Western Forest)

Esmound: his shield, and the Tree of Life in O’Khasis

Enki: his research journal, and his library built into the cliffside on Enki Island

Menphia: her sword, and the Great Colosseum of Montillego (one of the city’s many historical sites of the Torvan Empire*, and the place where Menphia first decided to become a great warrior; the one decision that shaped her entire life.)

*the Torvan Empire is basically this world’s version of the Roman Empire, spanning the northern area of Tu’la and southern of Ru’aun, and the entirety of the Gold Sea/Addonius Peninsula [Separate HC post detailing all these locations coming soon. My Mutuals have full permission to spam me not to forget]. The Empire was greatly declined by the time of the Warriors’ births, officially dissolved in their childhoods, and the last Tu’lian remnants fully dissolved by Menphia herself.)

The Breach Between the MCD/MS Universe and the VOID: Paradox Universe [Warning: the following contains major spoilers for VOID: Paradox.]

(Idk why I added that warning it’s been around for a long time but whatevs)

For those of you who’ve seen VP, you know what the breach is, and as I’ve said above about breaches, it spells trouble for both Universes.

You see, when Lord Aphmau Shala’shaska entrusted Laurance Zvhal with the protection of Irene’s Necklace; the key to her dimension, he brought it with him to the Wyvern Ungrth’s grave. Unbeknownst to him, the potent dimensional magic imbued in the necklace brought within close proximity to Ungrth’s body, which was still covered in Void residue from forcibly shifting himself between the Mortal Plane and the Nether months ago, caused a chain reaction. Laurance fell unconscious, and when he awoke, found himself in a completely different Universe; the world of VOID: Paradox.

With the help of Aphmau’s doppelgänger, as well as the teenager she had taken in, her two scientist friends, and later an expert from yet another universe, one that had already been overrun by the Void, the group attempted to send Laurance back to his own universe, but his arrival in theirs in the first place had already triggered the Void to appear there as well.

Eventually they found a solution, but hesitated, weighing the risks of possibly worsening the Void’s effect on both universes. However Laurance convinced them to go along with it, due to the fact that if the Void was also already in his universe, then he had to warn his friends.

The science behind multiversal travel was fickle, and to say the attempt was dangerous would be an understatement. Laurance did get home, placed in the same spot and at the same moment as when he left, however only seconds after he arrived, Garroth Ro’meave appeared behind him, and knocked him unconscious yet again. By the time Laurance woke up, surrounded by his concerned friends, the necklace was gone and so was Garroth. He also knew there was something he had to tell them, but he couldn’t remember…

As they left in a hurry, no one noticed the small chunk of black and purple stone covering the ground.

It would not be until quite a long time later, after Aphmau had become far more like the Matron that the world perceived her as, when she alone discovered the Void.

She found in Enki’s Library his research on the strange force, and learned of its destructive purpose. Aphmau was able to use her power as a Demigoddess to slow down the spread of the Void, affording her beloved world at least a few more centuries of life. However this resistance could not last forever, only so long as she was alive. That would not be a problem for the immortal for the next 1500 years, but when an old foe threatened the last piece of world that she could truly love, she made her sacrifice in the hopes that her descendant and her friends’ descendants would find a way in their ridiculously technological and scientific world to stop the Void’s destruction once and for all.

Well, I’d say that’s about it. Again if there’s any info you’d like that’s missing here please don’t hesitate to ask! I love talking about this stuff. I do plan to do more HC posts like this, but I’m not sure how frequent they’re gonna be. The next will be about my own map of Ru’aun and the various places both canonical and original that will exist in my rewrite (called Diaries: Rewritten).
