I was rewatching Mac + Jack, for research of course, and something struck me as funny. Riley says the Ghost entered and exited the neighborhood on foot.

But he put a giant bomb under Mac's house. How? He wasn't lugging that behind him on a Radio Flyer.

At the end, the bomb squad was using a little crane thing to lift the barrels out from under the house.

There's absolutely no way the Ghost walked in and walked out unless he'd already put the explosives under Mac's house.

Which begs the question: how long were they there?

It was absolutely lovely knowing you, 1x17. You have wonderful moments, especially when they all know they have been disavowed and getting home isn’t an option (but you know fiction and spy work means they’ll make it home ;) ), and Mac feels absolutely wrecked because this was Bozer’s first mission and it went to hell. Bozer’s quick field thinking skills and his artistry in helping trick the cameras? Mac and Jack badassery?! Sigh. This episode is gold. But you just ran up against one of the best relationship-building episodes of the entire series.

Any episode that features flashbacks to Army Days is brilliant. The way the writers highlight the beginning struggles, anger, frustration, and dynamics is *glorious*. Mac has just lost his CO and the man who trained him. Jack is ready to ditch this popsicle stand whenever the effing federal government lets him. They meet in a fight of epic proportions (Mac standing his ground is so hot). Then they get stuck together and the feelings are mutual – we hate each other, go away. Mac is hotheaded and young, and Jack is so over having to watch these bomb nerds. But they come to an uneasy truce. Figure out who they are and what they mean to each other (in – what is that? 64 days?). Jack intends to leave, and Mac is left wondering if he is *going to die in the desert?* *Was that not his original intention? OH, SORRY, don’t speak the meta out loud…* But Jack – Jack stays.

And then we join with real-time life, and it is a tragic shitshow (always of epic proportions. This show does NOT do anything in halves… until Jack leaves, and then no one cares what happens after that… again, don’t say the meta out loud!). Just coming off an unsettling experience with the local police and terrorism charges (go Mac!), another Murdoc encounter, Cage in the hospital (goodbye Cage, she’s gone for good… she was an interesting addition to the team for the first half of the season), and everyone is exhausted. It is Christmas. And – well, the Ghost is back.

Which means Charlie *heart eyes*. It means creative Mac-hacks that actually bring meaning to when we all say we are MacGyvering something (my writing boss laughed when I told her I write MacGyver fanfiction.) Riley, Bozer, and Charlie are badass. Charlie meeting Matty. Bozer and the neighbors.

I could probably talk about this episode for hours. Did I mention the acting is phenomenal?!

Season 1, Episode 17: Ruler

On a surveillance mission in Amsterdam, their target, a Dutch MP, gets a ticking bomb from terrorists. Mac takes it away. They end as terrorist suspects hunted by the police.

Season 2, Episode 12: Mac + Jack

When Mac's nemesis rigs Mac's house with explosives and traps him and Jack inside, Mac uses a karaoke mic and an audio transformer to let the team know that the bomb is a distraction for a bigger one.

@loves-2-read your tags made me burst out laughing because not only do I also love that scene, but when I first started watching this show, and was watching this episode for the very first time, I had to stop and screen record it because it made me laugh so hard

If I had a nickle for every time Jack followed Mac on a cross country/global flight and revealed his presence while making questionable hat choices I'd have two nickles. Which isn't a lot but it is weird that it happened twice

Also importantly what do they know/think happened at Mac and Bozer’s house the day the Ghost turned it into a bomb? Were they forced to leave their houses (probably)? Did they see every several agent on the planet standing out there watching from the road? What about all those cops and agents hanging around—it surely got around that Matty, who is magically In Charge, is their boss. Somehow.

MacGyver Thought of the Day: How many things have Mac and Bozer stolen from Mrs. Schwartz next door? At what point does she give them a key so they stop breaking her lock/window?

ETA: Also, what else have they stolen from the Hendersons? I need more information about Mac's neighbors and what they think about the weird boys who live on the hill.

EVERYONE except Micah, Sadie and Kieran have both little hair thingies

for Micah it's cuz....yknow. he's not really part. he's the rat. doesn't even have one of the two.

For Sadie and Kieran they have 1 since they are part of the gang, they just happened to join later

I changed some people's design a little bit but it's minor changes that don't mean much just me fixing up stuff

Molly and Grimshaw's eye-makeup-thingies are the same (cuz yknow. Dutch.) Molly's hair doesn't naturally do the Little Hair Thing, she has to do it every morning, hence why it's...oddly curly (this time not because she's not part of the gang, but because she feels the need to have it. maybe Dutch will love her if she does. if she's like the rest.)

I decided to make older Jack have a few things from other characters who are theorized to be his dad (lol. i don't believe those theories just for the record, i think Jack is John's kid, i just like stirring the pot HJKASJKHASGASG)

Jenny is like that cuz we never see her apart from a drawing, so i thought i should make her all sketchy and silly

Mac is. a fucking square. we never see that mf.

Karen has 3 freckles instead of 3 cuz she's quirky and not like the other girls (no but fr)

i tried to keep it right side people who would agree most with Dutch after Dutch...? if that makes sense? so yknow Micah is first, then Bill, etc. from the left side is the people who agreed the most with Arthur/John...so Hosea, Charles, lenny, etc.

Arthur facing John, Hosea facing Dutch, Charles facing Micah is on purpose teehee (Kieran is also kinda facing Mary-Beth but you can call bullshit and i'll accept it)

Jack is the only boyo between the women cuz he stands with his momma
