It was a suspiciously quiet night at the MacGyver-Bozer residence.
Mac was out on the deck working on something or another and Bozer was chilling inside, sitting in front of the island texting Leanna in the rare, pleasant silence. He laughed at her most recent text and started typing out something back only to be interrupted by a muffled explosion outside. Bozer looked to the deck and saw smoke and fire filling the windows. Quickly grabbing for the fire extinguisher on the kitchen counter, he ran out the back door and immediately ducked to the ground at the sound of another explosion.
“Mac!” He yelled out, waving a hand in front of his face to try and see better through the smoke, “Mac, you okay?!”
“Yeah!” Mac called from the other side of the deck, “Oh hey, watch out for the fireworks!”
“Thanks for the heads up!” Bozer let out an unmanly screech as another firework went off, littering the wood floor in more sparks and flames. Lucky for them they were only loud enough to cause some ringing in the ears.
Boze looked up from his place on the steps leading out to the deck and examined the battlefield. The smoke seemed to originate from the doohickey Mac was working on over by the end of the railing leading into his room. The thingamajig was currently on fire and didn’t look like it would stop anytime soon. It also didn’t help that a box of fireworks, the same fireworks that were going off, was sitting near the flaming contraption. It was a wonder how they hadn’t all gone off yet.
After looking around the deck a little more to determine the path of least resistance as well as find Mac’s place in all this, Bozer had a plan. That plan involved jumping out from behind the small set of stairs, releasing a battle cry as he does so, and running straight to the burning doodad, pulling the cord from the extinguisher and yelling in panic the whole time he put out the flames. All in all, a good plan, apparently, seeing as it worked.
He doused the fireworks, just in case, and set about putting out some of the smaller sparks as he made his way to Mac. “Hey man,” Bozer coughed, “you good?”
Mac lay flat on his stomach, his head turned toward Bozer, “Yeah, I’m doing pretty great down here.”
Bozer looked to Mac and did a double take at the lack of a back to his shirt, “You sure? Cause it looks like your wardrobe got hit pretty bad.”
“Oh, you mean my shirt? That’s totally fine.”
“Mac,” Bozer said pointedly. He placed the extinguisher on the deck and walked over to Mac, helping him up and leading him to his room while doing his best to not aggravate Mac’s back.
“Boze, the deck--”
“--Can wait while I make sure you still have skin on your back.”
Mac sighed as Bozer helped him into his room and sat Mac down on his bed before turning on the lights.
“Okay,” Bozer started, clapping his hands together and rubbing them, “let’s see the damage.”
Bozer gently placed his hands on Mac’s shoulders and turned him toward the light. The only thing that could be seen was pale skin covered in soot and ash. Bozer hummed.
“Think I’ll live?”
Bozer brought his hand up to scratch at his scruff, “I don’t know, man. I can’t see much of anything back here thanks to all this ash. Maybe I should call Jack down here, just in case.”
Mac reached for his phone that he left on his nightstand before Bozer could even think to grab it. “Please don’t do that. It’s probably a first degree burn at worst.”
“How would you know? You can’t see it. I can’t see it.”
“Yeah but I can feel it and trust me when I say I’ve had worse, Boze.”
Bozer laughed, “Well, I guess if anybody would know about burns it’d be you.”
Mac laughed with him, “Yeah, and I know that some aloe would probably work great right now.”
Bozer pondered for a moment, “Are you sure I shouldn’t call someone who actually knows what they're doing? What if it’s a third-degree burn and you don't feel it ‘cause all your nerves got burned off?”
“Bozer, I’m fine. I promise. If you call Jack all he’ll do is hover and worry and I know you’re already going to do that so no need to raise the old man’s blood pressure.”
“So that means you get to raise my blood pressure?” Bozer scoffed in mock offense. “Whatever. I guess I know who your favorite is,” he fake sniffled and Mac rolled his eyes fondly.
Bozer dropped the act not a moment later and went to help Mac back up. “Look, how about we go clean you off and if it looks that bad, I call Jack. Deal?”
“Deal, now where are you taking me?”
“Uh, the bathroom? Duh.”
They slowly made their way to the bathroom and Bozer deposited Mac on the edge of the tub. He walked to the sink and turned on the faucet, waiting for the water to warm up, as he grabbed the bottle of aloe vera lotion from its place under Mac’s sink.
Deciding that the water was at the appropriate temp, Bozer nabbed a washcloth from the shelf above the toilet and soaked it. He scuttled toward the tub, trying and failing to not drip water all over the floor, before sitting down beside Mac. Bozer then rang out the cloth into the tub (“Why didn’t you do that at the sink?” “Don't question my methods.”) and began wiping down Mac’s back.
Bozer whispered, “Damn, Mac, you’re covered in so much ash, I’m surprised those fireworks didn’t cremate you. Good thinking on my part for wanting to clean you up a little.”
Mac huffed a laugh, wincing slightly at the ministrations before Bozer handed him the mostly clean side of the washcloth.
“Got some on your face, too.”
Mac got to work wiping down his face, surprised at the black trace it was leaving on the cloth, as he heard the snap and splurt of Bozer readying the aloe. “You’re looking good back here, man. Guess we’ll save the old man from another potential heart attack.”
Mac winced again as the cool sensation hit his back and he found himself trying not to lean back into it rather quickly.
“Instant relief, huh?” Bozer questioned.
“Oh, yeah,” Mac sighed.
They sat in silence a moment before Bozer asked, “So what exactly was…all that?”
“Oh, uh, I was trying to make something that would automatically set off the fireworks. Y’know, so we wouldn’t have to keep getting up to light them.”
“Well, I think it works.”
“Yeah, probably should’ve made sure that it was in a state to be tested before I, you know, tested it.”
“Uh, yeah, Mac. Probably should’ve.” Mac smirked at Bozer’s sass.
Just as Mac felt he might fall asleep from Bozer’s almost massage, Bozer took his hands from Mac’s back.
“Alright, think we’re done,” He said, getting up from the tub and heading to the sink to wash his hands.
“You think? Did you not thoroughly slather me up?” Mac quipped, standing up and stretching out his shoulders.
“Oh, I know I slathered you up, thank you. It doesn’t get more slathered up than you do right now.”
Mac held his hands up in defense, “Alright, alright. I’m slathered.”
Bozer then took the hand towel off its hoop to dry his hands and Mac tossed the blackened washcloth in the dirty hamper.
“So,” Bozer started, wrapping the towel back on its hoop, “ready to assess the damages?”
Mac sighed, “Lead the way.” He held out a hand toward the bathroom door and Bozer gave him a determined nod.
They both walked in silence out toward Mac’s room and onto the deck, both sighing dejectedly at the sight of what was left of said deck.
“I say we burn the rest of it down,” Bozer joked. “Would probably be cheaper to buy a new one.”
Mac sheepishly rubbed the back of his head, eyeing the scorch marks and burnt wood covered by the foam of the fire extinguisher. “Yeah, probably. Sorry, Boze.”
“Eh, it's cool. I’m used to it.” Bozer gave Mac a grin and Mac couldn’t help but give him one back. “And hey, it looks like some of the fireworks survived! Could still salvage them for new years! They’d just be a little…foamy.”
“Yeah. Or maybe I could use the leftovers for an actual test at my automatic firework lighter…”
“Angus Jackson MacGyver, don’t you dare.”

A new chapter in my removal of the nanobots story goes really wrong :)
Why do I do this to Mac?
After Bozer speaks to Mac and fills him in on parts of his life, our hero realises something is up
Also our hero has some smutty dreams about a certain tattooed woman
For my Mac and Desi beeps :)

Mac didn’t want Bozer to leave, it took every bone is his body to stop himself grabbing Bozer’s wrist when he got up. Partly because he felt a fool and partly because he didn’t want to seem pathetic…and there was another more unpleasant reason. He couldn’t quite work out why, but he felt like Bozer wasn’t telling him something, it wasn’t just Bozer. It was the whole scenario in fact, the doctor, Chanani…Matty….it was all….it all kind of stank if he was honest… the secrecy or apparent secrecy, he couldn’t shake the feeling that something was up. He shook himself after Bozer departed, it was nuts, it was his messed-up brain, the amnesia…. something, he was not being lied to, he…he just was just misunderstanding, his grey matter was playing tricks on him. He didn’t like the idea of not trusting Bozer, he seemed to be the only friend, hell the only family he had. Well, if he had more, the other hadn’t deigned to come see him at all.

Ground Rules
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pairing: Angus Macgyver x FemReader
Warnings: fluff, minor angst, just two first time parents trying to figure it out
Summary: Much to your dismay your shared child seems to take after Mac and his curious ways. You had heard the stories about his unique childhood and if you didn’t get it under control soon, your daughter was bound to follow right in his foot steps.
word count: 1.5k

When you had first started dating Mac there had never really been any rules. It wasn’t until you moved in together you finally had to put some in place. You had you tripped over one to many contraptions and been a little too close to some minor explosions that had you deciding on no experiments in the house. After a minor fight he finally agreed and Mac followed that rule to the best of his abilities and you appreciated him for it.
What you had never expected was having a kid just like him. You don’t know why it never crossed your mind that it was possible for your child to have Mac’s intelligence. To be honest you wished you would’ve and you could’ve prepared yourself for all that was to come with a curious mind desperate to learn. You had heard all those stories about Mac when he was a kid, blowing up football fields and smoking out labs, but none of it ever really felt real until now. They finally felt real because your daughter had now taken it upon herself to do science experiments anywhere she can.
You had left for only ten minutes. That was it. Ten peaceful minutes to go out and do some minor yard work. She was reading a Nancy Drew book on the couch when you left but when you had returned, the eight year old girl had covered the kitchen in what looked like some sort of green foam. It takes your mind only a second to go haywire, panic setting in, fear of chemicals, and misdirected anger at your husband.
“Jackie! What is going on?” you rush towards her, making quick work of pulling her away from the mess.
“Elephant toothpaste, I saw it on TV and Dad told me how to make it” you were sure smoke was steaming out of your ears by now. As proud as you were for how smart your daughter was, these actions could become hazardous.
“Honey, I need you to tell me what exactly is in elephant toothpaste?” you ask as calmly as you can, keeping your voice even as if to not scare her off.
“Hydrogen peroxide, yeast, dish soap, water, and food coloring for some fun!” she claps excitedly, eyeing that very mixture on the kitchen counter. Now calming over the harmless ingredients you look at where she has some foam now stuck in her curly blonde hair.
“All that made a huge mess in my kitchen?” you ask, reaching for a dish towel and wiping away as much as you can in her hair.
“Well I tripled the recipe for a bigger explosion” she says as if the sentence alone doesn’t make your heart stutter. Letting out a deep sigh you stand back up and start to guide her to the bathroom.
“You definitely are you father’s daughter” you mutter, hands squeezing her shoulders.
“You should’ve seen it Mom, it was huge!” she cheers excitedly as you start down the hallway.
“Let’s get you in the bath” you tell her and she just smiles wide, clearly content with what she had just accomplished and you now had to clean up.
Once filling the tub with warm water you help your daughter step out of her elephant toothpaste splattered dress and into the bath. Offering her a bath bomb she keeps her curious mind occupied as you step out and figure out how to prepare yourself for the cleaning you had ahead of you.
“What happened here?” you find your blonde husband with an amused smile on his face, eyes scanning the green foam.
“Someone decided to make elephant toothpaste, have any idea where she got that from?” you ask crossing your arms and Mac looks up to find you are not as amused as him in this situation.
“Shit baby I’m so sorry. I didn’t think she’d actually attempt it, much less inside the house” he says walking over to you and you sigh, trying your best to not place all the blame on him.
“It’s fine, I just have to figure out how to clean it now” you say, hands reaching up to push the hair out of your face. It had already been a long day and the last thing you needed was this.
“It’s okay, I got it. I’ve done elephant toothpaste a time or two” he says, hands reaching to squeeze each of your arms, and you offer a weak smile.
“She’s gonna be trouble, just like you” you say with an accusing finger and Mac smiles before pulling you close and wrapping his arms around your waist.
“Maybe, but at least I know how to handle it. When I was blowing things up I never had anyone who understood me” Mac says and you give him a panicked look.
“I didn’t say anything about blowing things up” you tell him, head beginning to shake and Mac quickly stops you.
“I know but I happened to remove an entire football field once in my life. Maybe I can keep hers contained to a small park or something” he teases but you give him a stern look that says you’re not ready to joke about this just quite yet.
“How about no explosions and no more experiments in our home?” you say and Mac clearly mulls it over. You know he wants to cater to his daughter’s curious mind, provide her with every opportunity he could to learn, but could that be done at the expense of your kitchen?
“One explosion and experiments in the yard?” he counter offers and you sigh.
“No explosions and experiments small enough to not alert neighbors in the yard” you finalize and he nods with a grin.
“I can accept that” he says before pressing a chaste kiss to your lips. “Now where’s our little scientist, I want to applaud her”
“She’s taking a bath, you can say hi after you clean up this mess” you tell him, hands pressing against his chest and in the direction of the green foam.
“And what about you?” he asks, a small pout to his lips and you slowly press a kiss to them. The pout gone in seconds.
“I’m going to help her out of the bath and then we’re going to set some rules” you tell him and he nods, saluting you as you walk back to the bathroom to find Jackie hadn’t even washed her hair yet.
It’s only an hour later you finally have the small girl in fresh pajamas, damp hair combed, and sat between you and Mac on the couch. The Nancy Drew book from before is open on her lap and you finally give Mac a look to tell him it’s time to set some rules and create boundaries for her.
“Jackie honey?” you coo, fingers reaching to push away the book for a moment.
“Yeah Mom?” she says, half distracted and trying to chase the page as it moves away from her.
“We wanted to talk to you about your little experiment today” you tell her and Mac nodded, blue eyes finding his daughter’s matching ones.
“Yeah honey, just a quick chat” and at her father’s words she finally closes the book on her lap.
“We love that you enjoy learning new things. It’s amazing the things you already understand, but we need to set some rules” you tell her and a sad look flashes across her features in seconds.
“You made a big mess today, one that worried your Mom. So there can’t be anymore experiments in the house” Mac says and the girls is instantly defeated, a gasp leaving her mouth.
“But Dad, it was just elephant toothpaste. It wasn’t dangerous!” she whines and Mac shakes his head, staying firm and on your side.
“Yeah but your Mom didn’t know that. So there is going to be no more experiments in this house unless approved and supervised by one of us” he tells her and her lip instantly quivers as her arms cross over her chest.
“But you and Dad can do as many experiments in the yard as you want and he’s also agreed to bring you to his lab at work once a week to learn something new” you comfort the sad girl, arm wrapping around her.
“You promise?” she asks, hopeful eyes looking up at her Dad.
“Of course honey, pinky promise. We want you to grow and learn but science can be dangerous and it’s important we treat every experiment as that” he tells her and she nods even though you know she’s not entirely on board yet.
“Does that mean I have to tell you about the habitat I’m growing in my closet?” she whispers and you flash a worried look to Mac who is trying his best not to laugh.
“Well, why don’t we go find out” he says, standing and lifting the girl to dangle over his shoulder. The giggles and squeals she lets out are a stark contrast to the somber mood she was just in and you can’t help but smile as you watch them disappear down the hallway.
“Is that a toad?!” you hear Mac’s voice bellow down the hallway and you are quick to stand to your feet and rush down the hallway.
“Oh hell no”

"What's going on in here?" Riley asked as she walked into the mess that had become of Mac's living room. There were books strewn across every surface, loose printed pages all over the floor, three laptops all open to webpages about plants, and about twenty coffee mugs among the detritus. The TV was also playing a black-and-white monster movie.
Bozer, leaning against the partition that separated the kitchen from the foyer, nodded in greeting. Then, he turned his attention back to the whirlwind that was MacGyver. "Our boy is doing a crash course on lycanthropy. Including all the movie versions."
"He looks like he's about to crash," Riley said with a fair amount of concern.
Mac's clothes were coffee-stained and disheveled. His hair was sticking up in all directions, and his eyes had enough baggage for extra fees at the airport.
"He's been like this since they got back from Italy."
"That was three days ago!"

Okay no but I’d’ve loved if we had a Macgyver episode told from someone else’s pov
I mean you can argue that it’s no one’s specific pov throughout the show because of the switching storylines but
Mac was the one that narrated episode openings also the show is literally his name but hey we’re being deeper than that

Paper Flowers
I got recommended a cool youtube video and somehow this was born- i hope you enjoy <3
With an exacto knife in one hand and the other holding a piece of cardstock down on the table like the A/C is somehow going to manage to blow it away, Bozer groans.
This was a mistake. This was, absolutely, no doubt about it, one giant freaking mistake. He should’ve gone back to bed and just waited out the night, pretending to sleep. And when Riley swung by the house in the morning, he’d hop in the car and lie and say that he got a nice eight hours in. Or at least six—eight might not be believable.
But now that plan has gone out of the window and for some reason Bozer’s now holding a knife at 2 AM and seriously regretting every decision that led him here. Usually, Mac would be the one in this situation, and no, the irony isn’t lost on Bozer.
The problem is that Mac is currently in the hospital, fresh out of surgery and hopefully sleeping the night away with Jack by his side. Which leaves Bozer to be the weird, manic guy in the household who plays with blades in the middle of the night.
Mutely, Bozer wonders if Mac ever regrets his crazy midnight ideas.
The plan was simple, really.
Flowers aren’t allowed in hospital rooms because they’re a hazard to the patient and probably six other reasons that Bozer’s community college film degree can’t tell him about, but as long as the flowers aren’t real, they’re just fine. This leaves visitors with a few options, most of them being cards, plastic flowers, or just not bringing anything.
The latter is the choice that Bozer knows Mac wants him to make. The kid’s been through surgery, landed himself in the hospital, so many times. Mac’s going to blush and tuck his head away when he sees that people are still worried about him and making a fuss and bringing him presents, but that’s a risk that Bozer is willing to take.
It’s also not a risk at all. Not compared to everything else that they do in their crazy lives.
The point is that Bozer wants to bring Mac a gift and flowers seem like a great idea until it turns out flowers aren’t allowed, but he still really wants to bring flowers. Which not only kept Bozer awake, but is also the reason why he’s up at two with a knife in hand and a YouTube video paused on his phone.
Paper flowers.
They sound so easy. Sounded easy when he typed it in the search bar, too. Just cut up some paper, maybe color it, and then glue the paper back together in a different formation and then bam! Nice pollen and contamination free flowers for a brother that just got an internal organ stitched up.
Only as it turns out, all of the videos on how to make paper flowers are for kindergartners and look like crap. Not that Bozer would say any of that out loud- he’s sure that they look like masterpieces when they come from five year olds. It’s just not really what he’s looking for.
So he scrolled down and made his search a little more specific and finally found a nice video about how to make good, adult-looking paper flowers.
Only as it turns out, it was less of a “how to make paper flowers” video and more like a “watch an extremely talented woman make a literal work of art with nothing but a few pieces of paper and some glue and an exacto knife and maybe some watercolors in twenty condensed minutes with lofi music in the background.” It’s kind of a wordy title- Boze gets why she stuck with a simpler one.
Doesn’t change the fact that Bozer absolutely does not have the skill to make paper flowers that look like hers.
But he already gathered all of the materials, even braved the garage to find a board to cut paper on, so Bozer’s not ready to give up quite yet. Even if he is slightly mesmerized by the skill this woman seems to possess.
By the time visitor hours open up at the hospital, Bozer has to have at least something to show for his insomnia. So, restarting the video over again, Bozer puts the exacto knife in a better grip in his hands and takes a deep breath.
He’s got this.

I’m trying to write around 300 words every day and I couldn’t go to bed unless I at least tried to sit down and write. I’m happy to say that I slaved away and at the end wrote over a thousand words. Yay!
#I looked at my psych wip for like less then a second#before abandoning it to quick reread a short one-shot I have in my drafts#and I managed to double the word count for my Macgyver X-men crossover fic#it was kinda annoying actually#Alex was supposed to just cause absolute havoc#and hurt one of the team when he escapes from the Phoenix institute#but apparently he’s playing spymaster#not sure if I’m going to keep the whole spymaster part for sure#but I mean he isn’t going to cause much damage at all#in fact at this rate he will figure out what’s going on pretty quickly and then trust the team#but where’s the fun in that#and even though I doubled the word count of the fic he still hasn’t escaped yet#not that he needs to escape but he doesn’t know that#he just woke up in a medical place with two doppelgängers of some very not nice people who actually aren’t the worst in this universe#so yeah fight it is#I’m toying around with the idea of him somehow accidentally releasing Murdoc or something#idk#we’ll see where it goes#he better get out soon though cause Bozer is going to find out sooner rather than later that he’s bullshitting him and he isn’t Mac#I did not think I’d ramble this much in the tags#I’m just happy I’m making progress because soon I get tot switch to jack’s pov and it will be great#still don’t know if I’m going to have Mac waking up after the explosion at the manor and trying to find his way home or not#I mean like that happens but I don’t really feel like writing that right now#maybe it could like#be a kind of connected series? and I can just eventually write Mac’s universe hopping adventure?#alright I’m headed to bed#goodnight!

The cool breeze from outside drifted in the house and gave it a light glow. The weather had been absolutely gorgeous the past few days, warm with a light breeze paired with it. It was what caused you to open all the windows and allow it to flood the home. With the day off from work you spent your time in the kitchen, enjoying the breeze, and baking for what felt like the first time in months. Just as you started pulling out some cookies from the oven the doorbell sounded throughout the house.
"Come in!" you called out as you shut the oven with your foot and started to walk towards the opposing counter to set the trays down.
"Wow it smells great in here" you looked up to spot your blonde neighbor standing in the entry way of the kitchen, holding up a stack of mail. "The new guy gave me your mail again"
"I think he's doing it on purpose now" you chuckled and he smiled and nodded as he walked further in and set it on the counter. You quickly removed the oven mitts and grabbed the stack.
"Well that or he really has no clue he's mixing it up" Mac suggested and you nodded as you shuffled through some bills which honestly could've stayed at his house.
"Well we can't totally complain. We've lived next to each other for years and I finally know your name from the amount of times I've received your letters" Mac laughed at the comment as you set the mail down.
"Yeah I definitely can't complain" Mac's gaze hardened on you and you struggled to keep your composure. The suggestive look in his ocean blue eyes made your skin crawl.
"Would you like some cookies. I've been bored baking all day and I think I should start offering before I gain five pounds" you moved over towards the cookies to distract yourself from the close proximity between you and the oddly handsome neighbor.
"Bored baking?" Mac questioned as he leaned against the counter. You shrugged as you started to cool one off to hand to him.
"It’s a thing, trust me. It keeps me occupied" you said handing the now cooled and gooey cookie to the boy, he rose his eyebrows as he grabbed it from your hand. Slowly he took a bite out of it and then smiled. "What?"
"Nothing it's just this cookie is really good. Better than Bozer's but don't tell him I said that" you chuckled and grabbed one for yourself as he finished his.
"Well then I guess I did something right?" Mac brushed his hands on his pants and stared at the gorgeous girl beside him and he wondered how he had never noticed you before. If he was being completely honest, two weeks ago he practically camped out on his front porch to corner the new mail man and tell him to keep mixing up your mail. It was the perfect excuse to keep coming over and seeing you.
"Well now that you've let me try one of your delicious cookies how about you try one of my delicious dinners?" your eyes widened as you looked up at the boy. He offered a small smile, the dimple in his left cheek catching your attention.
"And what makes them so delicious?" a smirk graced your lips as you looked up to him and he chuckled softly.
"I have a secret weapon named Bozer" a large laugh fell past your lips at his answer and when your laughter quieted down he looked at you just like he did before. "So what do you say?"
"Well, I mean it's only fair"

Two years ago tomorrow, I posted my first MacGyver fic. It was for a Whump of July prompt that inspired me to write about Mac and Jack struggling with fireworks after returning home from their service. I haven't read it in a while, and I was surprised to find how much it was really about Bozer doing his best to help Mac.
A few weeks ago, Mac had called to tell Bozer that he was being discharged from the Army where he had spent the last three years as an EOD Specialist. Bozer was ecstatic that his best friend was coming home and had promptly started doing research about what to expect. Realistically, he understood that Mac’s time in the service came with potential problems. By the time Mac got home to LA, Bozer was as prepared as he could be for anything ranging from PTSD to depression to injuries Mac hadn’t mentioned on the call.
