I should be asleep but instead I'm desperately trying to find out how they knotted the ropes for shrouds on 17th century sailing ships.
Lord help me I need to know how this fucking rigging got made. It's for a crucial... two lines of writing.
#it's probably slightly more important than that but still#All of these other great tutorials on how to tie a rope ladder are great#but no I need this one specific thing#someone out there has to know#do not make me invent a time machine to go learn how#please

i dont wanna decide on a career unfortunately everyone wants me to soso bad
#i have to have it in. checks watch. 6 months maximum :)#just because i want biomedical something its what im good at and i cant not help people#like thats not some hero complex thing if o dont get motivated by helping people i will be a danger to myself within a couple months#but guys i am fucking ASS at coding. im goated at block coding i always make it past that#but my neocities wont work even tho im basically copy and pasting from html tutorials#i walk into the room and the machine makes it clear that it does NOT fuck with me#maybe i want biomedical research or something thats a little less hands on#or maybe an occupational therapy direction because i learn a lot about disabilities in my free time#or one of the cna or ekg practicum classes i can take through the local college#OR i can pay minimum a couple thousand for coding classes and brute force it#or stay biomedical engineering and focus on improving the mechanical aspects of existing biomed devices without personally coding as much#or veer way off course for something in sustainability#im literally just gonna end up teaching ap bio somewhere lmfao. why are we stressing#< NO hate to ap bio teachers i fuck with you#but i see that shit in my future Vividly#(or i could plan curriculums for teaching biology and standardize methods for courses such as pltw in the real setting ETC ETC ETC)

For birdwatching, my 2 cents of advice as a kid who spent his childhood birdwatching is:
- you can get cheap/basic binoculars starting around 30€ new, even cheaper if you can get them second hand. They're well enough to watch birds in your garden and neighbourhood, but if you need more powerful binoculars, don't hesitate to check army surplus stores: for the longest time my main pair of binoculars were old USSR ones I got for free (you get used to the visor in the lenses I swear) - go on youtube, type "[bird name you know live in your area] calls" and learn to recognize your local bird calls. You won't even need binoculars for this, and so many times you'll hear a bird before you can see it, if you do this you'll be able to ID birds without even looking at them with binoculars
Every fun post on here that encourages people to have hobbies/be creative always gets an avalanche of "Some people are poor Karen" type reactions and respectfully, you're all super annoying. I've never lived above the poverty line and this is a list of hobbies I have that were cheap or entirely free:
Read books: Go to the library, lend a book from a friend
knitting, crochet, embroidery: Get some needles from the bargan store and ask around, people have leftovers from projects they'll happily give you. Thrift stores also often carry leftover fabric and other supplies. And talk about your hobby loud enough and an old lady will show up and gift you their whole collection, because there are way more old ladies with a closet full of wool than there are grandchildren who want to take up the hobby.
Origami/paper crafts: get some scrap paper and scissors, watch a youtube tutorial
walking: put on shoes open door
pilates/yoga/etc: get a mat or just use your carpet, watch a youtube tutorial
Houseplants: look online for people that swap plant cuttings. There are always people giving out stuff for free to get you started. If you're nice enough you'll probably get extra
gardening: You're gonna need some space for this one of course but you can just play around with seeds and cuttings from your grocery vegetables.
aquarium keeping is a bit of an obscure one but I got most of my stuff second hand for cheap or free and now I have a few thousand euro worth of material and plants.
drawing/art: You get very far just playing with bargan store materials. I did my entire art degree with mostly those.
writing: Rotate a cow in your head for free
cooking: again one you can make very expensive, but there are many budget recipes online for free. Look for African or Asian shops to get good rice and cheap spices.
Join a non-profit: Cities will have creative organisations who let you use woodworking machines or screen presses or laser cutters or 3D printers etc etc etc for a small fee. Some libraries also lend out materials.
candle making: You need some molds (cheap), wick, two old cooking pots for au bain marie melting and a ton of scrap candles, ask people to keep them aside for you.
a herbarium, flower pressing: Leaves are free, wildflowers too, ask if you can take from peoples gardens.
puzzles: thrift stores, your grandma probably
Citizen science: look for projects in your area or get the iNaturalist app
And lastly and most importantly: Share! Share your supllies, share your knowledge. Surround yourself with other creative people and before you know it someone will give you a pot of homemade jam and when you want to paint your kabinet someone will have leftover paint in just the right color and you can give them a homemade candle in return and everyone is having fun and building skills and friendships and not a cent is exchanged. We have always lived like this, it's what humans are build to do.
And all of it sure beats sitting behind a computer going "No stranger, I refuse to let myself have a good time."
Anyway I'm logging off bc I'm making some badges for a friend who cooked for me and then I'm going to fix some holes in everyones clothes.
#also yeah I confirm that grandmas will give your their yarn and needles and crochets the second they learn you do some kind of fibercraft#for art you can go very long with machine paper and a HB pencil#lots of free tutorials on youtube for art as well

#bts#i just can't get over how hobi is collating and perfecting the concepts of the other members#i actually love killin it girl because it's so adfictive and danceable#but i also can't help noticing that he has a set squad of dancers like jk (not to mention the sleeping-live thing)#but mainly this video is SO ridiculously close to who#not sonically - they totally different vibes - but like dancing in the street at night? in 'weather'?#he's got the groups of male and female dancers moving as units and choreo that works like a parts of like crazy choreo sexed up#and the thing that sets it off is that bit where he and akyssa santos are smiling at each other that almost perfectly#echoes that brief moment in the who choreo where jimin and the blond dancer turn to each other#to me production-wise that video is everything jimin likely wanted but that either the company or the crew#couldn't make happen in the smooth and incredibly professional way kig was made#and i have to wonder it is just working with american producers from la or whatever instead of the sk company crew?#was it access because he didn't have to fly over or do things through zoom?#or is it literally just the jhope magic touch and have we been deeply underestimating his influence#not just on bts music and choreo but their entire stage and video presentation?#i keep watching the video and enjoying it but every time in the back of my mind i'm crying#because as successful as the video is and as great as the song is i wish jimin could have had this level of a production#like i can admit there are amateurish things about the who video compared to this higher production/budget one#everyone is speculating where kig was filmed and maybe it's literally that they found a fantastic location#where costs could be kept in check i really don't know#and i mean bts fo this all the time - think singularity and the mannequin for the filter choreo#they're not at all the same but you can see ideas being adapted - maybe group sourced ideas that's one thing we don't know#but basically what i'm feeling that bts are learning from each other's endeavors almost like video game level ups#they look at what has worked and what didn't and take that on board - i'm sure hobi learned stuff about touring#from yoongi's advice and his crew's experiences - and how to travel with an international crew of dancers from jk's#i guess i just wish jimin had the benefit of the uber professionals to help him realize his visions#because they call him the ideas machine but it seems kinda like they leave him to manage the execution without a lot of help#or well maybe he wants it that way idk - no interference?#like someone with a new hobby - some tutorials but then let them cook on their own and if mistakes happen well they learned something#i could see him making that choice and i really can't complain it's purely wishful thinking

Mastering SVM in Machine Learning: A Beginner-Friendly Tutorial
If you’ve been wandering the wilds of machine learning long enough, you’ve probably run into the acronym SVM. Maybe you nodded along in that one meeting, pretending to know what it meant. Or maybe you do know, but every time someone says “support vector machine,” you mentally file it away as “that one with the margin thing.” Well, today we’re putting an end to the mystery. In this tutorial,…

now I've a whole lot of hate for the island since your friends buried you down there six feet deep beneath the sand

x means that string is silent. the number is the fret you need to set. pause the video & look at the neck of the guitar to see what I mean.

numbers are saved tabs (I use the numpad to switch rather than with the mouse or regular number keys. it's way easier). letters are the QWERTY keys you click.
X X means a slight pause between clicking the letter keys/strings
X-X means click those keys back to back
XX means click those keys at the same time
#webfishing#redid this one because i decided to do the intro to the song as well#it's probably my favourite song to play right now. i'll open up webfishing before bed just to play this a few times#i've also learned binks' brew & hey you but i haven't recorded the former yet#if anyone is like ''hey why are you putting a whole ass tutorial under your little videos''#it's because i actually hate that program that plays the guitar for you & am trying to get people to just learn to play themself#it's so much more fun & also impressive when you can play a whole song without a machine doing it for you#at first i was like okay cool basically like a radio! but now after actually learning to play myself i'm like. meh. about it#so hopefully someone might see these posts & try it for themself & see it's funner this way
