Marbled Eye are yet another great Oakland, California band. They've been around for a while - in fact, they were featured here in 2016 and 2017. At the time, I mentioned Total Control and Diat. Those comparisons still hold true, but sometimes this has the melody of early Pixies too.

Bandcamp just did a feature on the band and also mentioned The Fall, Wire and Protomartyr.

While this LP is sold out on Bandcamp, it is still available direct from Digital Regress (who along with Summer Shade are releasing this in a few days).

The Piedra sisters.

Born and raised in a small mining town in New Mexico. Calida and María Molina have stayed behind to support their parents while Rosita and Madelina have gone off to pursue their dreams. Madelina recently obtained her Ph.D. in geology from Las Cruces College. Rosita works as a baking apprentice and entertainer in Ponyville, Nebraska. Madelina is the eldest, Calida the middle child, and Rosita and María Molina (non-identical) twins.

California's Bay Area has an incredibly vibrant music scene. Rob I. Miller's "Companion Piece" joins this canon. Miller's everyday band is Blues Lawyer, but this trends more to Teenage Fanclub, Mo Troper or Tony Molina. This is beautiful, melodic pop, and while there are only two songs currently available, they clearly point to the aforementioned sound.

And, of course, Miller gets assisted by members of various other bands - Marbled Eye, and Blues Lawyer. This cassette is being released by Miller's own Vacant Stare Records. One of this Oakland label's early releases was the Dick Stusso debut.

We didn’t forget about one of our favorite types of deluxe broadcasts. Finding lots of sounds and intense auditioning for all of our Summer broadcasts seemed like we almost forgot about post-punk and d.i.y. Not so. With 47 tracks, it’s our most dense broadcast of its kind. It's all the deluxe post-punk / d.i.y. money can buy, and tonight all of our listeners will get their worth.
