thinking about the pruecole daughters from that one au. i love u for that
light summer reading for those intrgued
honestly i had lowkey forgotten about these girlies que tragico bc they are so sick i wonder what their names would be.... i feel like they probably would not have p names just because you know. i feel like this has deviated so far from what prue ever imagined her life would be i think using the names she picked out when she was a little girl just no longer would feel right
so here's a list of names i pulled together as a couple options
ariadne -- i like this bc it's the name of the women who helped theseus out of the minotaur's maze, i think it is both pretty and i like the connection of prue saving cole w ariadne saving theseus (yes ik how the myth ends that's not important the important thing is she's smart and saves ppl)
kiara -- i really like this name bc if you look at the italian origin it means light but if you look at the gaelic origin it means dark which is a fun dichotomy for a demon witch
diana -- the roman variant of artemis, goddess of the hunt, a very powerful girl's name imo
valerie -- with origins in valor, meaning brave
reyna -- the spanish variant of latin's regina, meaning queen, i think it could be an excellent name for a potential queen of hell
audrey -- meaning noble strength so it still has both the regal quality and the tuff quality with the added just sounding classy quality that ik both prue and cole would love
gabrielle -- devired from gabriel, so like angel vibes but like specifically angel warrior vibes bc it's v biblical, i also like that it can be shortened to gabbi/gabby/gabbie which feels more modern to be
marcella -- coming from mars, god of war, but the feminine version, i really like it i think it would be another excellent demon witch name
and you know what fuck it poll

Kallie E. Benjamin
Sniffing Out Murder
Bailey the Bloodhound Mystery Book 1
Berkley Pub
Dec 5th, 2023
Sniffing Out Murder by Kallie E. Benjamin, the pen name for Valerie Burns, is the first in a new series.  This book is a delightful read that has humor and a riveting ‘who done it.’
Readers are introduced to the main character, Priscilla Cummings, who is a teacher by day and a children’s author by night.  That is until she has found success with her first children’s book, about the adventures of her dog, Bailey the Bloodhound.  Because of her success she has decided to become a full-time author, but also continues to have Bailey assist children to read.  Bailey is a trained therapy dog and frequently goes to the local library to have children read to him and watch him demonstrate his tracking skills.
The mystery has Bailey sniffing out a murder, digging up the body of Whitney Kelly.  She is a mean girl who earlier had a confrontation with Priscilla.  But Pris is not the only enemy she has made, and the list of suspects continues to grow for Police Chief Gilbert Morgan.  He is tenacious and determined to find the killer, but readers also see his other side.  Raising his daughter Hannah as a single parent, he is very caring and gentle. Both he and Pris develop a relationship after Bailey helps Hannah with her reading skills and Pris becomes involved in solving the murder mystery.
Readers will be kept guessing until the very end about who done it.  This plot has it all: delightful characters, great banter, a mystery, and a sweet bloodhound.
Elise Cooper:   Since it is an anonymous name how did you choose it?
Kallie E. Benjamin: Kallie was my great grandmother’s name.  I never knew my grandmother but did know my great grandmother. The “E” is from my mom whose name was Elvira but decided not to use Elvira as my author’s name. My dad’s first name was Benjamin.
EC: How did you get the idea for the story?
KEB:  I get nervous when I start a new series, hoping readers will enjoy it. Dogs are my thing and I wanted to write a new series with a new breed of dog.  To me, a bloodhound symbolizes search and rescue.  This series has a lot of family ties for me. Also, when I write cozies what is important to me is the ‘who done it.’
EC:  How so about family?
KEB:  It is set in Indiana, which is where I am from. The town’s name, Crosbyville is based on one of my nephew’s children, Crosby.  His other child is named Cameron.  The main character, Priscilla, is an author and her agent’s name is Cameron. Her best friend, Marcella is named after my niece’s daughter. Since I write murder mysteries, I will make sure that these names will endure and continue without having to be a character that can potentially get murdered or be considered a person of interest.
EC: Why make Bailey, the Bloodhound a therapy dog?
KEB:  I used to do therapy with my poodles. We would go to nursing homes and hospitals. I wanted him to help with assisted reading. When a child had to testify it was found that they were less stressed if they spoke directly to the dog.
EC:  You went down nostalgia lane-why?
KEB:  LOL.  I brought in Andy Griffith and Magnum PI.  I ran some things by my niece who just turned thirty.  She told me she watches the reruns of the old shows. I enjoyed throwing things in there.
EC:  Whitney, the victim was not very nice, correct?
KEB:  I based her on Cruella de Ville to a small extent. I usually murder someone who no one likes. They usually are villainous. Both Whitney and Cruella had issues with dogs. They viewed their agenda as more important than anything else. They are single minded without any concern about what happens to others. I use real people in my life in my books when they make me mad.  It is therapeutic for me. I will use their initials but change the names to be the victim.
EC:  How would you describe Priscilla?
KEB:  Pris and I have in common that we both have a job that provides income, but we are also authors. We have that same passion about writing mysteries that includes dogs. Pris wants to help people and can recognize people’s shortcomings. She is also a klutz and very curious.
EC:  How would you describe police chief Gilbert?
KEB:  He has dedicated his life to protecting others. He is very direct, straight-forward, responsible, and protective. He also is a single parent, raising his daughter. As the story progresses readers will find out more about his late wife and her family. His daughter and family are very important to him. His relationship with Pris will continue and grow stronger, although there will be some conflict surrounding their views.
EC:  Next book?
KEB:  The setting is a festival in Crosbyville where a murder occurred. Bailey finds clues that get Pris more involved in the mystery. The working title is Hounding a Killer, coming out in late 2024.
THANK YOU!!

LI(s): Florian Vasil & Emil Renaud Poly (Main), Florian Vasil & Orion Morosov Poly

Proud | Humble (A quiet pride, knowing she’s capable without arrogance.) Impulsive | Rational Mischievous | Behaved (Maybe I’ll flip this though.) Sympathetic | Unsympathetic Emotional | Stoic Devout | Skeptic Cunning | Honest (Not sure yet, leaning towards honest though.) Kind | Cruel
Skills
Intelligence - 15%
Physical Strength - 3%
Charm - 10%
Dexterity - 12%
Conjuring - 5%
Alchemy - 5%
Illusory - 15% (Primary Magical Specialization)
Elemental - 9% (Secondary Magical Specialization)
Healing - 5% (Secondary Magical Specialization, but starts after the resurrection I assume)
Relationships
Ezrah Rhys - Ezrah is the person she loves most in world aside from Florian and Emil or Orion, and she’s not afraid to show it. Of course, as a proud and doting big brother he feels the same way about his Star. Only his love for [his suitor] equals to that of his love for his sister.
Queen Evelyn Vasil - Alina just. Does not like the queen at all starting from that first day when she comforted Florian, telling him that it’s okay to still be grieving and to cry as much as he needs and hugging him as long as he wants. And that dislike just grows over the years, and in turn Alina is on thin ice with the queen except for the fact that she knows that the younger woman would do anything for her son and that’s the main reason why she’s permitted Alina to become Florian’s advisor.
Prince Florian Vasil - Florian and Alina are each other’s best friend and first love.
Emil Renaud - When he permitted himself to be friends with her, Alina and Emil were as close of friends as they could be because of his circumstances with his family. They both miss each other dearly, though Emil more than Alina since she has a support system and she was his respite in the first place. Emil is also Alina’s first crush.
Marcella Dumont - Ever since Ezrah introduced them, Marcella’s been a part of the family - at least as far as Alina’s concerned, and treats her like another sibling.
Dimitri Volkov - n/a
Ariadna Novik - n/a
Rowan Lozano - n/a
Orion Morosov - n/a
Cier Katsaros - n/a
Kira Argyris - n/a
Ilaria Thayer - n/a
Trivia
- In the future, when she’s married to Florian and Emil they have four children together (two and two); Alina has two daughters with Florian - Eliana and Flora, and a pair of twins with Emil, a boy and a girl called Ezra (yes without the H) and Alice. Birth order is Eliana, Alice, Ezra and Flora.
- In the (non-canon) Florian/Orion poly they have three children (two and one), with Orion’s child with Alina being a daughter called Valerie. The birth order is Eliana, Flora and Valerie.

Prompt #19: Turn a Blind Eye
Tumblr media
For the greater part of my career, casting directors were willing to overlook the mounting tension between Valerie Salacia and I as a petty catfight between two actresses racing for the pinnacle of their careers. And really, were they so wrong to say so? Rearranging seating charts and rumormongering were at the low end of our respective potentials, even I can admit as much, and it kept the Cantilena’s press operators on fire for its weekly publishing, which in turn fueled ticket sales. We were a cultural tour de force, her and I, commanding levels of fascination that hadn’t been seen since Appolinar and Fulgencio’s tit-for-tat, which ended in infidelity, pregnancies, and drug overdoses, doubtlessly a tough act to follow. All in all, a healthy ecosystem for show business, and I think you’d be hard-pressed to find that any of us disagreed. Content with this arrangement, they became as frogs in a heating pot, and the water was boiling before they all discovered they’d let it go too far to turn back.
The night I well and truly unsheathed my claws was to be a run-of-the-mill live interview for my work on Time Unwinding. I knew I was sharing a guest slot with Salacia (doubtless the intent of the cunning host), but resolved to maintain my composure; I’d been overexposed, my publicist cautioned me, and it was time to recede out of the burn of the spotlight for at least a week. I had no reason to doubt her advice, and so I decided to have a drink to soothe my anger before my stage call and steel myself to be the bigger person. Valerie, however, had her own designs on the evening, starting with the bottle of red wine I requested on every set.
“Our next guest needs no introduction. You know her, you love her, you love to hate her. Let’s welcome Marcella Maxime.”
I put back a good two glasses before I was called to stage and I was feeling good about the odds of making it through the appearance without being intentionally catty or malicious. I strode across the stage draped in a rich emerald green number that made me feel royal and expensive next to the cheap, tawdry glitter and glitz of my rival, waving to the audience with a summoned smile. I never noticed anything amiss in their reaction before placing myself on the couch next to the viper, herself.
“Marcella, it’s good to have you back.”
“Thank you, Erasmus. My aesthetician tells me the same thing every day.”
A wave of polite laughter rises from the audience, but doesn’t quite die down even as the host continues to speak.
“Does she...?” He asks curiously, then pauses before he presses further. “Marcella, did she tell you that this morning, as well?”
I tilt my head slightly, my smile frozen. What a strange question. “Well, I know I’m not renowned for my comedy, Ras, but that’s the implication of the joke. She’s grateful I’m still employed, and in turn employing her.”
I can hear an odd titter break out in the audience as their murmuring grows louder, and Erasmus is studying me intently.
“Are you sure her paychecks are current, Ms. Maxime? Because it seems to me she may be upset with you.”
My blood runs cold, and my heart is pounding my ears. My eyes sweep from the host’s desk to the audience, then reluctantly land at Valerie’s expression. She regards me with her mouth pressed into a thin line, a suppressed grin that’s fit to burst. Do something. But what?
“Well, let me have a look and get to the bottom of this,” I bluff with a humored lilt, and reach into my clutch for my compact. The silver lid lifts and I search the mirror for the source of the interest, feeling the stage lights grow hotter and hotter. My makeup is immaculate, lipstick unbudged by the wine glasses. I open my mouth to protest and find myself face to face with a blue-tinted mouth, my teeth faintly stained with ceruleum blue. My pulse halts, breath held tight, but everyone is waiting to see what happens next. I gather my resolve and snap the case shut again.
“Oh, this little thing?” I hear myself say, but I’ve divorced from my own body by now. The only thing I’d consumed since leaving the makeup chair was that red wine, dark enough to hide the dyes she must have paid a runner to drop in. “I’m preparing for my next role, you see. It’s a thrilling number about a woman who is half-machine. I thought I’d take a little sip of ceruleum and see if I could step into the part...”
I thought I’d buried my origins well and truly in the past; when I moved out of Silvestre, I became a new girl who in turn became a new woman, old skins shed and left to crumble when they outlived their usefulness. I don’t know how Valerie came by the intuition to come after me this way, but it was the day I decided I was no longer satisfied with simply questioning the wingspan of Salacia’s spread eagle when she went into casting calls, or slipping bills from palm to palm until her valet got conveniently mixed up, making her late to press junkets. Since that day, I’ve been out for blood.

pjo-verse oc intro:
name: Valerie Rivers (Val)
age: --
pronouns: she/her
mortal parent: Marcella Rivers
godly parent: Ares
sexuality: biromantic asexual (sex-neutral)
camp: Camp Half-Blood (Greek)
backstory: she and her mom have lived in an apartment in NY for as long as she can remember, and it’s notably upscale for someone of Marcella’s pay grade. No one questions her, though because she is known for being honest and independent. Val went to the closest public school for a while before going to CHB. Her arrival there was fairly perilous, as her mom was away on an artist’s retreat when she left for camp.
cabin description: an angry red color, barbed wire lining the roof, a stuffed boar's head on the doorway (the eyes of the boar seem to stare at whoever is walking by), there are live landmines surrounding the entrance, and the cabin has rock music blaring from it at times.
abilities: can summon the dead of the losing side of a battle, enhanced strength and swiftness, able to adapt to using various types of weapons quicker than normal, excellent war strategist, telumkinesis (ability to curse opponents’ weapons), odikinesis (ability to unconsciously arouse feeling on impulsive anger, hatred, and bloodlust in people to the point of instigating physical violence), and the Blessing of Ares (a blessing given to children of Ares, when they have shown great courage or bloodlust in battle; it cloaks the bearer in a glowing aura of flickering red fire that grants temporary invulnerability to pain and all physical harm).
