what do you feel nostalgic for?

a place you once knew.

maybe it's somewhere you visited once, somewhere you go regularly, or somewhere you lived at one point. regardless, you long desperately to go back and just be. just exist there. is it the landscape you miss? the excitement of a city or the pleasant solitude of a small town? is it the people? do you need to make something right there? whatever it is, you need to go back. your heart is aching. you can't stop picturing yourself walking the streets, taking in your surroundings. did you know you'd feel this way when you were there? how could you have predicted this feeling when you had it all in the moment?

while i'm here on pv's account i want to briefly mention that in a blue exorcist au, ideally i would want pv as a teacher(probably on demon biology or medicine) to play into that college-professor-at-night part of him.

however that's just my ideal thought. i prefer sticking to canon as close as possible. so what likely happens in a blue excorist au like that, was that laserblast(a human dragoon exorcist) compared himself to people like father fujimoto or mephisto, and constantly put himself down for being so weak and powerless compared to those people, to the point that he started messing around with demons' bodies/spirits trying to figure something out that wasn't straight up demon eating. until something like, say, the blue night(or some other major event) happened, and laserblast supposedly dies, except he isn't dead he just gave up and decided demon eating was the way to go and he changed his entire identity, goes by venomous now, and has cut all ties with those people and even holds a grudge even if it's an irrational one. ...the whole identity fighting with shadowy would probably get switched around to fighting against this demon instead of himself though.

CONTENT WARNINGS: alcoholism, hangover, grief, implied self-harm

Takuto still tried to remain ignorant of the fact that he inadvertently caused himself this pain. The pain of constantly digging his nails into his skin. Of always glancing around him to find an available job. Of the constant nights without sleep, trying to find a way to progress his research despite the funding being cut off. But all his poor decisions fueled by loss were written in the stars; He couldn’t escape it as much as he wanted to.

The relentless whirling of his head was nothing short of a reminder of how far gone he was. Of how much of a mess he had become since he discovered his Actualization ability. Takuto felt the way his hair became disheveled and unkempt as the days went on. But what was even more noticeable was how his eyes turned from an optimistic brown hue, to something almost devoid of life, stained with agony.

Yet, despite all his suffering, Takuto couldn’t bring himself to care.

BAD END LONG WINTER AU ANYONE???? (crickets chirping) erm. well

anwyay i hope i scammed at least 1 person out of fluff. whistles cutely

bad end: royal trio try, struggle, and fail to rescue any of the thieves from the delusion, or find the route to the treasure. with maruki's overwhelming hold on the thieves(+confidants) and his staggering security + ability to manipulate the design of his palace at will... (<- i elaborate on this in my shsm fic that i uploaded a while back but maruki tries to psych the three of them out of navigating his palace by hacking at all the infiltration routes they try. and since its just the 3 of them it's pretty easy to block them off) akira goro and sumire do their damnedest but they come up just short

anyway TLDR they just can't crack it and it's over.

in this case, since they don't get to rescue the thieves, they spend even more time together than Usual Long Winter AU. so i feel they're even closer than usual.

on 2/2, they stay in and sleep in, idly talk about anything other than the circumstances that they're in. they waste the day away and then fall into an endless slumber.

in the first page goro & sumire look kinda discontented, but after akira breaks the ice a little, they manage to fall asleep (more) peacefully.

im not gonna lie this treads into like TOO MUCH HOPELESS ANGST for me but also i had the idea listed down in my Royal Trio Ideas List so i had to draw it..eventually... so. (flips through stack of ideas) erm. heyyyy (i also think it turned out MORE SAD when i drew it HKDJSGSKJDW when i just wrote down the idea it was like kinda just silly)

also goro is wearing akira's raglan shirt from pre-p5r!! no reason except i like it and also i want them to share clothes

Shuji Ikutsuki x Takuto Maruki au, where our favourite punny nihlist never got into Kirijo Group's death cult, and instead finds a new, kinder god to worship. Just musing about the core of Shuji's character orgins, and how the hell he wound up the way he is with Kirijo group. The answer is that whatever thing he experienced/learnt in his life brought sufficient grief/pain to make him snap or vulnerable enough to find salvation and worship in death. This AU's just delayed that into him finding meaning and relief in his life from following Takuto lol.

Truthfully, Maruki hadn't heard that Akira would be returning to Tokyo. Not that there was any obligation to keep him in the loop, of course. But he had to assume it was this lack of communication, paired with a twinge of fate, that brought them together today. A routine stop at the train station with his taxi happened to turn into picking up an old student of his. Funny how that worked out, wasn't it? He popped open the back door, peeking from his spot in the front, only to lock eyes with a familiar face. While he did feel a bit startled, placed on the spot, their reunion wasn't an unwelcome one.

“Kurusu-kun? It's been a while,” he greeted, warm eyes creased into a welcoming smile from behind his glasses. Once the surprise faded away, it was replaced almost as quickly with a burning sense of curiosity. It was a trait of his that had gotten him into trouble before, but he'd never quite learned to fully distrust it yet. Curiosity killed the cat, as they said, but one would have to excuse it in a former man of science.

He had a slew of questions brewing. How was life? How had his return to his hometown gone? How long would he be staying? How was he adjusting? Numerous though they were, he was aware of the social conventions constraining him. He couldn't launch into asking them all at once, and certainly not after their former deal had ended. He would understand hesitance to share much of anything with him, all things considered. He launched first into the formalities. “Where to?”

Zenkichi rolled his head. Gray eyes falling on Takuto’s distressed face. “How’s Akane?”

“Got home early.” Takuto stated. Quick to answer knowing full well the intent behind the question. Avoidance was something he was far too acquainted with, more so when paired with neglecting his own well-being. “You aren’t leaving us so easily. And you know damn well I’m not taking chances with that wound, Zen. Gunshot wound or not.”

“Yeah,” Zenkichi mustered out a weak laugh. He honestly found Takuto’s worry a little bit amusing, even though it was slightly over the top. “If anything, I’m more sure you’d be the one to send me off to heaven than anyone or anything else.”

“You’re lucky I have more than enough patience. Otherwise, I may as well kill you here myself for worrying us.” Takuto tossed a quick, stern look before guiding Zenkichi into a seated position. For every hiss of pain from Zenkichi, Takuto mumbled an apology. "I'm gonna let someone fix up the wrap I did, then… I guess I'll figure out what to do next.” He sighed.
