Drawings of the other Survivors in the same style as the drawing of Chieko that’s currently the story’s cover pic. I attempted to draw them at different angles and with slightly different poses, but my sense of perspective is crap and additionally by the time I got to Masashi’s pic I was sick of drawing teeny-tiny daisies, so these probably could have been better. But oh well

(P.S. the daisies have plot relevance, I promise. You’ll just have to wait and see why and how)

“Kita no Kuni Kara” is a story about Jun (Yoshioka) and Hotaru (Nakajima) Kuroita who move to the town of Furano from Tokyo with their father, Goro (Tanaka) after his divorce from their mother Reiko (Ishida). Reiko’s sister, Yukiko (Takeshita) moves in with them as well. The drama follows this family as they learn to survive in Hokkaido.

This drama was 24 episodes and aired from 1981 to 1982. It has become cemented into Japanese popular culture and was so popular that it aired specials throughout the years until 2002. It seems like everyone knows about it, so when I received this drama to subtitle, I was excited to get started. With its popular culture status in Japan, it’s needless to say that this is a great drama. While I did watch it for work, I became fully invested and couldn’t wait to see what happened next. I started to watch the specials (there are a total of 8 specials) and it’s so fun to see the kids grow up!

(^^ Hotaru and Jun, you’re in your 40s/50s now! XD)

The cast of characters both main and supporting were all great. Jun got annoying sometimes as he always complained, but you couldn’t blame him (I mean, if I was that age and I had to live without TV or electricity, I would be complaining, too haha). Hotaru was so cute! She always supported her father and never complained like her brother. I liked that Goro had a support system in Furano like his cousin Seikichi and his family as well as his classmate Nakahata. The Yukiko and Sota romance plotline was nice to watch but I got so mad at Sota for practically abandoning Tsurara for Yukiko! Ugh men! XD While the plots and storylines were pretty consistent, some plotlines were kind of random. For example, the whole UFO subplot where the kids saw a UFO and the teacher got abducted by one and disappeared. The timing makes it look like UFOs/aliens were popular (Close Encounters, ET, etc. all came out around that time) but it was so random!

(^^ A UFO in Hokkaido?! Didn’t know they were common there…o_0)

While it is quite long for a Japanese drama, I cannot recommend it enough. If you like Japanese dramas, this one has to be towards the top of your watch list as far as classic dramas.

Favorites: Favorite Character: Hotaru! Definitely the best character in this drama. Favorite Episode: All of them are good and have different storylines. I like the one with the Yukiko/Sota plotline (it was towards the beginning before she goes back to Tokyo for a while) as well as the controversy with Ryoko Sensei as well as the storylines revolving Shokichi’s grandfather. The blizzard episode was a good one, too! Favorite Scene: The drama is well-shot and I can’t pinpoint a specific scene that I liked the best.

“Kita no Kuni Kara” Rating: Story: ✭✭✭✭½ Beautiful drama. Taking off half a star for those random storylines lol. Acting: ✭✭✭✭✭ This. Cast. That is all. Theme Song: ✭✭✭✭½ If there’s one thing that makes this drama special is this fantastic score. Do yourself a favor and check out the score from Masashi Sada. Total: 14/15

Next Up: “Kanojo wa Kirei Datta” maybe?

Usia enam tahun

“Um,” sebuah suara berkata tiba-tiba, dan Itachi perlahan melihat ke belakang.

Di lorong sepulang sekolah, di sekelilingnya terdapat anak laki-laki yang sedang menunggu temannya untuk bermain, dan para gadis saling mengobrol dan tertawa terbahak-bahak. Dipenuhi dengan perasaan bebas setelah terlepas dari formalitas belajar, mereka sangatlah energik.

“Kamu Uchiha Itachi, kan?” kata gadis itu, sambil matanya menatap mata Itachi. Rambutnya yang cokelat menjulur hingga ke bahunya, dan kedua lengannya disilangkan di depan dadanya. Mata di bawah alis tipis itu berbentuk almond dan cerah, seraya pada saat bersamaan memiliki pesona misterius yang entah bagaimana membuat Itachi merasa manis getir.

“A-aku juga anggota klan Uchiha.”

Bukan hanya dengan gadis ini. Itachi memang selalu bersikap seperti ini di akademi. Kebanyakan orang akan sakit hati jika dihadapkan dengan kejadian seperti ini dalam sebuah percakapan. Yang kemudian, membuat mereka tidak akan pernah mencoba untuk melangkah masuk kedalam ranahnya lagi.

“Namaku Uchiha Izumi. Aku di kelas sebelah.”

“Lalu?”

Hari ini Shisui memiliki hari libur untuk pertama kalinya setelah sekian lama, jadi setelah sekolah usai, mereka seharusnya berlatih bersama. Itachi tidak punya waktu untuk berlama-lama di sini seperti ini sekarang.

“Kita mengambil jalan pulang yang sama, ya?”

“Hanya ada satu kompleks Uchiha. Tentu saja kita mengambil jalan yang sama.”

“Uh, um,” kata gadis itu, Izumi, sambil menundukkan kepalanya. “Mu-mungkin kita bisa—“

And here we finally have it, the drawings I did of the SHSL Survivors Society cast as they appeared in their Hope's Peak days.Between trying to make sure the amount of overall pictures could fit in one photoset and despairing over my not-sp-great eraser, A5 sketchbook and the fact I'd never drawn a Mohawk or a beard of any sort, some of it was difficult, but I managed. So yeah, I hope you'll like these pictures

I haven't the slightest clue if Tumblr will post the pictures in the order they're arranged while I'm typing this, but underneath this chunky paragraph is a list of who is in each picture, going from the top to the bottom of how I'm looking at the pictures, and then where there is more than one character, I will name them from left to right. But hopefully from what's been described of them all in-story it should be easy to figure out who is who. So, here goes:

Day and night, CRESSIDA received a lot of replies on their SNS account seeking new scripts.

In the library, Hitomi (Nishime Shun), Yuusaku (Shiono Akihisa), Tomoki (Wada Masanari), and also, Kimito (Sato Ryuji) of 'CRESSIDA' are talking amongst themselves.

There, they receive a reply.

"@clarinet To you, the fake, who blows your own trumpet, with a musical instrument in hand, let me deal you a crushing blow"

It was a reply from the criminal who shocked the society 19 years ago with the "Clarinet Incident"...
