DO NOT CONFESS YOUR FUCKING CRIMES ONLINE.
Doesn't matter if nobody in your area (neighborhood, city, state) cares if you smoke weed. Weed is still against federal law, and Google's AI searchbots will happily turn you over to the feds.
Right now, the feds are not looking for pot smokers.
But if your name shows up on a watchlist - they will happily say, "hey social media companies, here is a list of 300 people we believe are Bad. Plz hand over any evidence you have of them being Bad."
There are very few media companies who will say "come back with a warrant." Most of them will quickly say "here is all the data we have on those 300 people- their hobbies, names of their friends, groups they're part of, and by the way, any suspicious behavior they've admitted on their blog in the last 3/5/20 years."
(If you're gonna do activism online, I recommend getting a Dreamwidth account and making a locked community. Also, don't name it fuckthefeds or action4change - name it something like doll-dresses or mathstudy or friends-of-friends.) (No, I will not tell you what the pirating comms on LJ and DW are called, but they are NOT called "movie-exchange" or "download4free.") (And that still won't protect you from a warrant but it will make you hard to spot.)
A word to my mutuals and followers in the USA
On the one hand, I feel good about seeing the way you're all buckling down, getting ready to survive another Trump presidency. I have faith in you all, I believe you can do it. As an Australian, while I hate that you have to think about these things, I'm glad you're willing to do it.
On the other hand, if I can see these things being planned out online... so can someone else, who may not have your best interests at heart. I would strongly urge anyone living in the USA at this point to work on the assumption that your institutions are no longer working for the benefit of the American people - or that if they are, the group of individuals who count as "the people" can be measured on the fingers of a single hand. This particularly includes the institutions of surveillance and control, such as the FBI, the police, and the NSA. Your government is now going to be headed by a paranoid narcissist, and you cannot expect to be dealt with in good faith by that government.
Please, I beg you, take your organising offline. As I said, if I can see it as an Australian, living in Australia... well, so can our intelligence agency here, ASIO. So can the NSA. So can the FBI. Hide your tracks, hide your organising, keep it secret, keep it safe.
I don't want to know what you're organising. I don't need to know. Don't let me know.

✨STUDY TIP: 1✨ (I have a studygram where I post this but I’d like to keep organized and do it in my tumblr too since it’s a Studyblr.) I’ll start with some tips to study geometry, because it may be difficult for some people 🤗 🍬1.- try to get a pencil that can write fine lines, it makes it easier to keep the sheet clean and not make a mess on it or when you have to write numbers on the drawings. 🍬2.- Do drawings, try writing things proportional so you can have a better mental image and spacial relationships, if you have visual memory it would help you a lot! (it works for me) 🍬3.- if you need to remember theorems, postulates or axioms and it’s difficult for you, I recommend to write them all in a big block sheet and put it on your wall, so everyday you’ll be “forced” to look at it and finally you’ll remember it, try to use your favorites colors and lettering because if it looks pretty it will be easier to remember! 🍬4.- if you have a notebook wirte step by step how you solved it, use a different colors, arrows and maps if necessary but make sure you understand how it is done before you go into another problem. It’s ok if you don’t get it at the first try, ask for help too if it’s necessary, don’t be ashamed to ask, everyone who is good at something now once were as you are now. 🤗 🍬5.- make just one exercise at a time, the brain solves one problem at a time and uses the solution of one problem as input for the next problem, so as I said in 4th step, just keep calm and try to focus in just one at a time. 🍬6.- exercise every day, it may seem obvious, but learning takes time, continuous studying to master a subject, you can do it!
I hope this may be helpful for you 🎀

Study ideas (math) + things to try and questions
One-off things:
Before school starts, put all your syllabi in a binder. Scan them and put on Google drive when you have time.
Write the notes for each course in different notebooks.
Habits:
Go to office hours regularly for 1 or 2 specific courses. Maybe you won’t have time to visit everyone but also don’t just go to math courses -- go to compsci OH as well.
Check all assignment grades after you get them back.
Keep all assignments and stuff in a binder (just keep, this is for mark leverage later)
Things to try:
Try your best not to fall behind. Feeling like you don’t understand doesn’t mean you’re behind, by the way.
Save homework for your commute.
Make a “schedule” for all your homework. Like, Mondays from 10-11 am I work on this course, and so on for all courses.
Do most of your homework at university (I guess the stuff you don’t want to do in commute), because you will feel tired as shit after the commute
Explain to yourself concepts or ideas, if you feel like you don’t really get them.
Questions:
How to make less stupid mistakes?
How to write examples so I come back to them?
How to write notes so I come back to them?
Should I separate notes and examples?
Should my notes be single-sided?
If so, should I write explanations on the other side?
Exam tips:
Write on blank paper and using a pencil when doing practice exams, or just reviewing for an exam.
How to study for memorization-based courses: read the text, then test yourself. Don’t read everything then test everything.
Read a good-sized coherent chunk (like a chapter or section).
Do problems on this chunk. Problems should be similar to the style of testing. If you want you can make each testing session cumulative, but you don’t have to. You can make it cumulative at the end.
Repeat with subsequent chunks.
Litmus for understanding: if you’re looking at the answer for a problem, and you don’t understand it, you don’t know the material well enough. If you’ve read it already, write a blog post about it.
If you don’t get what your lecturer is saying: some math professors will teach like a textbook. Kind of like Tsai. It will be difficult to understand anything when they first say it. Don’t panic, this is normal. Sometimes even reading the text the first time will be hard. There are a number of ways to deal with this -- take the time to “explain” the material to yourself. Sometimes it will be enough to jump into the questions, because they don’t require deep thinking. I conjecture that one of these routes will work.
I guess I’ll test out the “things to try”, and I’ll try to think of answers to the “questions” section in another post.
