Kirishima's Mystique:Predator and Prey

Somewhere within the deep woods of the forest around Mount Fuji, it was clear blue skies and high temperatures this fine summer. For Kirishima, after exams and a well earned break, he knew he’d love to right about now be on a beach with Mina and Maya or just hanging out around them in general. But instead of being skin on skin intimate with his alien queen and shapeshifting lady of the waves, he was here in the closest equivalent Japan had to a jungle, the sun baring down as he found himself in a literal life or death struggle. It’d seemed some simple enough,the JSDF had been around here conducting training exercises and for reasons unknown, one of the platoons had gone missing, presumed captured.

Of course he was passing by when he overheard the situation and stepped up, volunteering to go find and rescue the band of soldiers. That’d been several hours ago, the noon day sun hanging high above as the Red riot hero rested against a tree trunk while catching his breath. So far there had been no sign of the platoon and he had the sneaking suspicion that whatever got them was up to something. As if whoever or whatever was around here was following him....tracking him down and stalking him, akin to a wild predator seeking its prey.

Unknown to the sturdy hero was that indeed his suspicions were correct as perched high up above on a tree branch, he was being watched. A transparent figure shimmering in the sunlight, its form implied to be very well built and power as its hidden gaze was locked upon the himbo. A distinct clicking or chittering sound heard as its point of view was an infrared spectrum, seeing Kirishima's body heat standout clear as day. Clearly it was liking what it saw as if it could sense the raw strength presiding within the humanoid tank.

Whoever or whatever this figure was, it certainly wasn't human and it seemed to take an interest in him. So much so that unknown to him, the platoon of soldiers had already been released, let go back into freedom as they were deemed unworthy prey. Yes as far as this creature was concerned, the Red Riot was a more worthwhile quarry as the shimmer distortion around it faded in crackles of static electricity. Revealing this enigma to be a female of one of the most notorious urban legends around, a creature from a race of intergalactic hunters who went from planet to planet during the hottest times of the year in their climates, seeking out targets to hunt and worthwhile trophies to claim.

There were many names and titles given to these beings, most common being Predators or their proper designation, the Yautja and this distinct femme fatale had felt itself in the presence of a worthy quarrry. Its ultra-violet vision gazing on him as distinct clicks could be heard beneath its chrome helm as static flicked along her being, rending her invisble once more as she began to stalk and track down the hero in training. She couldn't quite think why exactly, but there was something about Kirishima that stood out compared to those soldiers. He was strong, that much she could tell but seemingly, was it the idea that he came out here all alone?

Whatever the reason, the hunt was on and this femme fatale was on the prowl as the day passed on, seconds into minutes which moved into hours. So far she had to say she was finding the sturdy hero an impressive specimen, as her quarry made the most of their terrain seemingly getting the feeling someone or something was following him. The maze of trees, rubble and paths providing plenty of means for Kirishima to find himself a hiding place, to which the Huntress had to say, was plenty resourceful. The soldiers prior to capture had been panicky, desperate and clumsy but this one was no stranger to navigating his way around in the wild which only made him a potential worthy trophy pending in her mind.

Yet for every moment her quarry eluded her, the huntress found that his survival skills were putting him quite a few steps ahead, enough to have her wondering if at some point that the tables had been turned on her. That she had become HIS prey instead and if that were the case, why did this not worry her in the slightest? Rather if anything it excited her, dare she think it aroused her, sensual pleasure coursing through her very being. To think that on this simple little planet she would find not only a challenging hunt but perhaps a worthy mate, a prime specimen of male that made the Huntress' body burn with a need, a desire to bare his young.

Yes indeed perhaps children from a man such as him would become nothing less than the finest hunters to grace and stalk throughout the galaxy, as her determination intensified along with her libido's thirst. The hunt was on as once the pair caught sight of each other or got within range, combat was engaged. Kirishima quite puzzled as well as surprised to find he was dealing with some sort of alien, a literal extra terrestrial who of course was packing some major heat on her. The Yautja of course only felt validated and vindicated by her instincts and impression of the hero in training as his quirk proved to be more than affective against some of her bladed tools, to say nothing his being able to tank against her plasma shoulder cannon.

Whenever the opportunity to escape and gain some distance to recover and re-strategize presented itself, they'd take it especially to patch up any major wounds. Kirishima wasn't worse for wear bar some damage to his outfit while the Huntress found some of her equipment had taken some of its own. Her cloaking device was now on the fritz, her shoulder cannon bent in disarray and to say nothing of the chips to her blades and yet it only made her all the more aroused. Truly such a thrilling hunt and such an impressive specimen of Man, it was intoxicating compared to the thrill of the hunt.

Particularly when she found her quarry setting up traps here and there, proving no doubt that Kirishima had himself some experience when it came to wilderness survival. Some she was able to avoid but the few that managed to spring up on her naturally lewd to the chivalrous himbo ambushing her for some close quarters combat. His will to fight not out of some need to prove some sense of superiority but the need to survive, it was only serving to further arouse her. Their eventual game of cat and mouse at a pint where they stood across from each other, panting as the sun was setting in the horizon, both a little worse for wear but still raring to go.

I can do this all day you ugly motherfu-“*Whatever Kirishima was about to say next was interrupted as he heard the Huntress make a strange sound, like a mix of a purr and the chittering of mandibles that dare he say sounded rather sensual? As piece by piece, she began to disconnect and discard her equipment and tools, save for her wrist device as she then began to actually strip naked right before him. The Red Riot’s eyes bugging out along with his jaw dropping as the still helm masked alien babe now stood before him laid bare exposing a thicc, powerful body that’d been trained and honed in the ways of her culture. So wait, you're saying she does projects as favors for her friends? I have noticed that her dramas tend to have a strong supp cast who sometimes walk away w/ more accolades than her. But flip side is the fact that she's not a selfish actor also I think contributes to the chemistry. Even her non-romantic chemistry w/ co-actors is so good (and so underrated). Part of the fault lies w/ her PR/team that imo don't do enough to hype up her acting chops. Most ppl just see her as a pretty face.

'favors to friends' wouldn't be as accurate as 'favorable to friends' imo. she ain't that stupid to sign on a project where she's not the top billing actor and isn't the face of the project. but she doesn't mind not being THE center of the show. i don't think Maya has ever had a project where she's the one having all the limelight. which is good as it gives her filmography credibility of being full of quality projects (a drama is only as good as its supporting characters and cast). but it also works against her as she then becomes a more 'forgettable' part of the project despite it not being actually true. i think other than Mann Mayal no other project gave Maya the 'oh this is MAYA ALI's show!!' wala fame cuz Mannu WAS the center of the show. yes yes of course no denying Hamza/Salahuddin were equally as important but Salahuddin isn't Hamza's top most remembered role while Mannu is Maya's. Maya is a team player which isn't a bad thing. but sometimes yeah an individual's contribution to a team effort is not acknowledged if the person doesn't take a stand for themselves. like you said her romantic/non-romantic chemistry with all of her costars work across all her projects. but that's hardly ever credited to Maya on SM because the other people already take dibs on the praises and Maya just stands there clapping thinking 'oh their praise is my praise so we are all winners here' which..no. that's not how it works.

THEY MEAN THE WORLDDDDD TO MEEEEEE for some reason a lot of people in the fandom don't play Ace Attorney 5 which is fair since it's kind of messy BUT. BUT. IT INTRODUCES ATHENA AND DOES SOOOO MUCH FOR THE WRIGHT ANYTHING AGENCY. In AA4 we learn that Trucy Wright made the Wright Talent Agency into the Wright Anything Agency in order to bring Apollo in as a lawyer when before it was just her (a magician) and her adopted father Phoenix (a poker player). and AA5 is all about Athena joining and Apollo learning how to trust her, at least it is to ME. they're so gooddddd aaaaaaa like you've got Phoenix and Trucy who are weirdos who love to scheme and you've got Apollo their longsuffering guy who deals with it all, and Phoenix is the mentor... and then Athena comes in and she has a lot of light and determination and trauma (just like the rest of them lol) and she's SO determined and I like her a lot!! And Trucy is my favorite and Phoenix cares about her SO much but he also has his other found family in the Feys!!!!!! Mia dies in the first game but her ghost stays with Phoenix and her sister/cousin Maya and Pearl are SO IMPORTANT TO HIM he loves them so much that's his sisters to me ;-; he would do anything for them and Trucy and he's growing as a mentor to Apollo and Athena too as the game progress... They don't write them all perfectly but they sure do a lot of things I like :) also feel free to split this up into their Wright Anything Agency or Phoenix + the Feys or Phoenix + Trucy if you need to I won't mind I just love AA's found family a lot

Hopefully this reaches the right audience.

I’d like to talk about Maya Sokolov and her writing and the analysis of what Miss Rina Kent could’ve done with her character and her story. I know Rina said in one of her Insta stories that for sure Remi, Maya, Vaughn, and Gareth were not getting stories. I can be fine with Remi and Vaughn not getting stories (Remi not so much but I can live) while Maya and Gareth I can feel some potential with.

And I get it from Rina’s POV, miss girl has written like 35 books within 3-4 years. And if she feels no passion or connection with certain characters then she won’t write it. I understand and agree with that completely.

It doesn’t mean I won’t have any ideas about it yeah? Even if it’s not canon that’s what makes it fun.

Anyway back to the point, Maya Sokolov and her character

She falls under the lines of the Queen Bee, diva, bitch. Something like Silver, Nicole, and Reina. I absolutely love those three. Personally, Silver should’ve gotten the trilogy, Reina was done dirty lowkey, and Nicole’s story (Empire of Hate) left me with wanting more groveling. But out of the three I found I relate to Nicole more.

It’s the inferiority complex. I love that shit, I have it too, and I eat it up. And that’s clearly scene in Maya too. In the end of GOR it’s referenced/implied/canon that Maya was jealous of Mia and made a monkey’s paw type wish that came true.

There’s something so raw and sad and powerful in that that can and should be shown in Maya’s character (speaking from personal experience) feeling something so negative that it results in an act of hurting another person you REALLY care about because it comes from a place of deep sadness and insecurity.

Maya can act like the biggest girl boss and look at everyone like they’re the dirt beneath her feet (literal quote from GOR) but that does not disguise the fact she can only act like that because no one else will ever hate her more than how she hates herself.

And as readers we can really see it, and even theorize it from in between the lines. In GOF we read about Nikolai’s thoughts about the twins.

There are people saying that GOR ruined the relationship and wished it never happened. I can’t say the execution of it was done well but I can’t say it was a total trash fire either. It’s a 50/50 depending because there are good things I absolutely loved and things that could’ve been improved.

But mostly people are saying that the relationship between Maya and Mia was sabotaged and it would’ve been better if it never happened. I disagree, I prayed for times like this to come—kidding, but the layers of anger and frustration and love in the relationship between them makes the relationship deeper. But we never get to see that in its completion.

Think of Landon and Brandon in GOF. We love them so much because behind that ire and blockage from both sides they came through that and love prevailed. This is why I stand by Rina Kent MALE friendships/relationships. They’re much more complex and thought out than the female friendships which come off as somewhat shallow. I’ll make another rant abt that later.

What I wish was done better was mentioning the difference in Maya, Niko and Mia’s relationship. It’s clear that Niko likes Maya less than Mia. And Maya feels less than Mia because she’s seen that Mia is favored. It’s not Niko’s fault but it’s like an unconscious thing, he’s just closer with her because he sees that he is similar to Mia. It’s a common and natural thing, you’re just closer to people you feel like you can relate with. That checks out.

I feel like even both of Maya’s siblings only see her for what she pushes herself out to be, a shadow diva who sees herself as superior (obviously hiding an inferiority complex). They don’t stop to acknowledge that maybe she’s compensating for something? Especially Nikolai, in that quote saying that he and Mia would fuck up each other’s demons but what abt Maya? You can’t be close to her because she doesn’t have flaws or negative thoughts or demons either?

This feels less like a “it’s Nikolai’s personality” issue and more like a “Rina Kent wrote Maya to be nothing more than her character archetype”

Other than that, I also wanna mention Maya’s relationship with Ilya and how it could enhance her character and dynamics.

Ilya is down to earth, not egotistical like Landon, or notoriously violent or volatile like Nikolai, nor with the high status like Jeremy. He’s a perfect match for Maya.

It’s mentioned by GOR from Mia’s POV that Maya wants someone high status with lots of money (I agree, get it girl slay) but Ilya is not those things. He’s just a bodyguard and the money in comparison isn’t that good. But he can see Maya for who she truly is, someone who is hurt on the inside, insecure and needing some help.

It’s not what she wants but it’s what she needs. She needs someone who won’t isn’t already existing in the circle who prefers Mia to her.

Although I do wanna say that I love the angst in early chapters if Maya felt some jealousy and sadness from believing that Ilya prefers Mia to her (seeing as how Ilya doesn’t regard Maya with the same reverence as other boys do) and he’s actually friendly to Mia while he’s bitchier to Maya. It’s all part of the angst. But endgame wise he would choose Maya cause he sees right through her and is more interested in the true part of her that’s vulnerable and scared to love in fear that the one she loves will love Mia more.

The screen of the phone’s camera flickered into focus as it displayed a splendid view of a wonderful beach. The scenery a marvel of sparkling water, crisp white sand and the clear blue summer sky as the shoreline was thriving with a decent sized crowd. Families, couples and the like all gathered can be seen in the angle but showed where this shot was being taken was a more cozy and private little spot. Disenchanted: A Creative Breath of Fresh Air for Disney

In a sea of lazy adaptations and painful live-action cash grabs, the sequel nobody asked for blew expectations out of the water. With a clever and charming concept, and writing to match, Disenchanted proved to be one of Disney’s best films among a slog of dreadful productions. The movie drips with a clear love for fairytales and their tropes, and writers who clearly know how to use these tropes to tell a great story. Where Enchanted was a critique and parody of old school Disney films, Disenchanted was a love letter to fairy tales, and Amy Adams dripped with villainous panache. Seriously, somebody needs to sign Adams to a movie or TV show STAT that’s going to let her play a hammy, scenery-chewing villain the whole way through. I am eating her up in this role. She is delightfully wicked in all the right ways, and I want that peacock evening dress. My god, I’m envious and I don’t even have the hips for it. Even if there were ideas we’d seen a million times, they worked here because the actors are just having so much fun with the roles that it sucks you up into it. The movie is hammy, corny, and melodramatic, and it knows it. The movie is full of recreated shots, call backs, and winks to the audience that makes the movie just drip with charisma. All while ultimately being a story about women and their relationships to one another. Plus, any musical that puts a spotlight on Amy Adams, Idina Menzel, AND Maya Rudolph and lets them all a turn to bring down the house like the true divas that they are, it is just an overdose of ear candy. While there were some aspects like Robert’s storyline not really going anywhere, in the long run, you kinda shrug it off because the story’s not really about him. He’s a supporting character in this movie. The focus is where it needs to be, and that’s good. I don’t know if the actress playing Morgan has been in other things, but she did a good job singing her solo, and she certainly didn’t fall into the trap of bad child acting. All things considered, this is a great film, and an easy A tier film from the studio. Nothing deeply moving or something that simply must be seen on a big screen like Lion King or Beauty and the Beast, but it is absolutely worth the watch. If you haven’t seen this movie, I recommend it. It’s the first really great Disney film in a long time, and it needs to be showered in attention so that Disney knows that this was the correct direction to move in. More this, and less live-action Lion King.

WHY IS NAIYA YOUR ICON?: In my opinion, she's one of the more underrated NPCs of the series. I'll probably cycle through some of the ones I have available to me right now.

ARE ALTER EGOS SEPERATE CHARACTERS?: No. For instance, Ratman is not included because his secret identity is in the tournament.
