you know i've never fully identified with the "haha as a writer i love to cause SUFFERING i love to HURT THE CHARACTERS and MAKE THE READERS CRY" thing. it's always felt almost reductive towards my general goals, even given that i tend to write things that are emotionally heavy, to frame it as "isn't it fun to cause suffering, evil cackle"; it's also the reason i don't tend to label my own fics as "angst fics" because i don't tend to find that the sole purpose of my writing is like, the suffering or angst or whatever. (i recognize this is probably at least in part me being a Pretentious Auteur or whatever and not actually reasonable and i have no issue with the people who do identify with that.)

WITH THAT SAID.

there truly is nothing more gratifying than posting that Big Moment in your fic and having all your readers comment with "HEY WOAH WHAT THE FUCK" just as you had hoped they would so you know maybe i get it a little,

I think everyone is doing Austria a disservice when they write him as a prudish blushing flower, and not as a manipulative bitch who has mastered weaponized sexuality. YES he's an uptight snob, but when you look at the history of Austria's military alliances there is a lot of calculated moves based around arranged unions instead of (or to subdue) all out wars. It's much more fun imo to see Roderich as someone who can seduce you into a strategic marriage for the sake of saving his own ass.
