Imagine being at a big marquee event in an arena, like the Super Bowl, with the roar of the crowd, the smell of hot dogs, and a sea of jerseys all merging into one chaotic blur. While the frenzied, exciting environment certainly enhances your viewing experience, it can also make it difficult to find the people you came with if you get separated. If you're communicating by phone or waving from the stands, it can be an exhausting game of hide-and-seek amid the noise and commotion. Now imagine if you had a way to remotely guide them to you with pinpoint precision—an app that highlighted their exact location and gently nudged them to move in the right direction. That, in essence, is what bioengineer Lukasz Bugaj and his team at the University of Pennsylvania have achieved—except the arena is the human body, and the people you are directing are engineered cells sent in to carry out specific tasks like killing cancer or repairing damaged tissue. The team's research is published in the journal Nature Methods. An associated Research Briefing is also available.

This engineer uses light to get hearts pumping
Pengju Li designed a new type of pacemaker to help doctors during open-heart surgery
Each year, more than 2 million people worldwide undergo open-heart surgery. This involves opening the chest and briefly stopping the heart. Getting those hearts pumping again can sometimes be risky, says Pengju Li. A molecular engineer, he designs bioelectronic devices at the University of Chicago in Illinois. This tech treats diseases by stimulating muscles and the nervous system with electricity.   Doctors might restart hearts by compressing them with their hands. But that’s “very invasive and demands significant expertise,” says Li. Other times, surgeons use metal tongs and electrodes. These risk damaging sensitive tissue. Li’s team has designed a light-powered pacemaker that might one day help hearts find their rhythm after surgery.

You said earlier that you don't have access to multiverses anymore, if you aren't in one right now, where are you instead?
Tumblr media
A lesson is in order
Extra info:
Universes: AUs, non-AUs, and cores
AUs: Alternate universes, born from creators. They contain their own timelines* as well as their voids*.
Timelines: Diverging paths of events in a given AU (eg. Pacifist, neutral, genocide runs; continuity changes such as Horrotale or Dusttale) these can be manipulated within a given AU by a being with powerful enough DT.
Void: The empty space within an AU, once entered leaving is nigh impossible (eg. Gaster; Color!Sans; Seraphim!Sans.)
Non-AUs: Outcode spaces, created by outcodes, either through code manipulation or overtaking of an already existing AU.
Membranes: That which seperates universes and multiverses from antivoid*, membranes can be passed through by certain individuals or with tools. (eg. Guardians; Errors; outcodes; //categories only applicable within Multiverses//.)
Cores: Root universe, from which all AUs stem from or passageway for guardians of creativity (Doodle spheres) depending on the Multiverse
Antivoid: The empty space between universes. Hostile to all incodes and most outcodes. Has effects on beings code that can lead to them becoming errors.
Antivoid (Multiversal scale): The full space between multiverses, hostile to all beings.

Happy go lucky zadr crackfic where dib gets to prove zims an alien and gets the recognition he wants because zim is doing the impossible fixing earths problems and protecting it from outside threats and so is also widely loved and getting recognition worldwide and theres no way he can do that if hes not an alien savior from the stars with unrivaled technology that came to better humanity, right?
After learning he was cloned dib makes sure they rival membrane out of spite and the professor ends up living under the bridges

Headcanon: Membrane actually was a professor when Dib and Gaz were little, but when Dib began to show more of an interest in the paranormal than the "real" science he wanted him to engage with he quit his university job to create "Probing the Membrane of Science" in order to counter the misinformation that programs like Mysterious Mysteries were poisoning the minds of children like his son with. Membrane constantly calls out MM and prominent "conspiracy theorists" like the guy from the Dib's Dilemma comic on his show, either passive aggressively or directly by name, and dedicates segments or entire episodes of his show to debunking them. But these people and their audiences always dismiss his debunking as being part of the Agenda to Hide the Truth.
Membrane is also secretly jealous because he thinks Dib listens to/looks up to the MM host more than him, unaware that Dib talks pridefully about his dad being THE Professor Membrane all the time. Membrane constantly throwing shade at MM on his show is part of the reason why the MM host dislikes Dib and wants nothing to do with him. He feels like it's Dib's fault his program gets attacked all the time by Membrane and his supporters.
Although MM's audience is quite a bit smaller than PtMoS, there is a vicious fandom rivalry between their respective viewers. A small percentage of MM's viewership are people like Dib who just want to enjoy the show in peace without being hassled about it and are not anti-science or without skepticism. But because Membrane's behavior on his show actively encourages his audience to think they're superior and that MM and it's audience are worthy of scorn and derision MM's viewers are constantly under attack, which fuels their sense of persecution and drives them to become anti-science reactionaries.

Lipid rafts are specialized microdomains within the plasma membrane, rich in cholesterol and sphingolipids, that play a critical role in organizing cellular processes. These dynamic structures act as platforms for signaling molecules, facilitating key functions such as immune responses, cell communication, and membrane trafficking.
Recent research has revealed the importance of lipid rafts in various diseases, including cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, and viral infections. Understanding how lipid rafts organize and modulate cellular activities opens up new possibilities for targeted therapies that could disrupt or harness these microdomains to treat diseases more effectively. As studies on lipid rafts advance, they are proving to be essential components of the plasma membrane's complex architecture and function.

IK a lot of fans don't like Gaz, Taster of Pork because they feel like Dib was treated too harshly
But like
My sibling in christ he put an unknown spell on Gaz while she was unconscious. Absolutely unhinged sibling behavior.

Researchers from the Adolphe Merkle Institute (AMI), together with international collaborators, have pioneered a novel method for creating thin, energy-converting membranes that mimic the structure and function of biological cell membranes. This discovery could have significant applications in fields ranging from implantable artificial electric organs to water desalination. The new technique leverages the interface of an aqueous two-phase system to form and stabilize these membranes. By carefully controlling the conditions under which two immiscible water-based solutions interact with the opposing sides of these membranes, the researchers created membranes that are just 35 nanometers thick but can cover areas larger than 10 square centimeters without defects.
