The Amazing Digital Circus is invading my brain and for the life of me I can’t stop thinking about Kaufmo.
(Umm. It’s kind of dark so please be aware I think…)
You know that one silly clown guy that got abstracted in the pilot and we never see him again?
Yeah I can’t stop thinking about him.
Kaufmo has so much depth and lore that I can’t wait to hear more of (if we get more of it) AND GOSH DO I HAVE QUESTIONS!
Did anyone like him before he got taken? Did people hate him? DID people like him? How did they feel about him??
How did he act? Was he always crazy was he just some sweet guy that tried to stay positive but ended up just…
…Breaking?….Just like that?…..(which shatters my heart to think about…)
And it also hurts to think about, but how does it feel like to be abstracted?….I’ve heard this one theory and/or headcannon that: when someone gets abstracted it’s like suicide?…
Like the way they talk about it: “I can’t believe he just…gave up like that..”
THAT sounds like-….Like Kaufmo abstracted because he just couldn’t take it…Did all of them end up abstracting that way??
And how does it feel…How does it feel to be mangled up. To be just a black warped thingy with eyes. TO HAVE TO BE ABLE TO LIVE AND JUST EXIST LIKE THAT. Does it hurt them?? Does it hurt to even breathe like that??
I found another person describing it as just dying over and over and over again and that. It breaks me. WTF DOES IT FEEL LIKE??.
I’m getting to ahead of myself, because I think WAY TOO DEEP in these things-. It’s like whenever I watch a scary movie, like the Exorcist or something of just..how does it feel to be possessed like that?…Is it never ending hell? What do you see?….Does it hurt to move to think to speak to breathe to DO ANYTHING??
Again sorry but- I NEED ANSWERS‼️‼️‼️‼️
(And one more thing..Did Kaufmo abstract JUST from wanting to leave or….something else?….Like he obviously wanted to get out but what if there was something else that tipped him over the edge….AGAIN JUST A THOUGHT. Might not be true but….just a thought…)

the way hozier titles a song "i, carrion (icarian)" where he sings about the self-destructive idea of sacrificing himself by flying into sun to save his relationship, and compares himself to 'carrion', the decaying flesh of animals, often a word used for roadkill. to then go and write a song called "abstract (psychopomp)" about how holding an animal whilst it dies mirrors the mercy of ending a failing relationship, similar to a 'psychopomp' - a deliverer of death. and we watch as hozier turns from 'icarian' to 'psychopomp' when he realises that prolonging suffering is crueler than just letting love die. i'm both in awe and crying on my bedroom floor.
and the way a carrion crow is also a symbol of death ?? and how 'carrion' sounds like 'carry on' the way icarus kept going ?? and how he sounds envious of his lover's courage in "abstract" ?? how when the sun is gone - "streetlights in the dark blue" - he can no longer blind himself and is forced to look at the corpse of his relationship ?? how to love is to let go ?? how can he keep getting away with this i'm sobbing ??

I need my biotech professor to stop putting questions in her take-home exams that require that I go look up papers that require a very specific (and secret) combination of keywords to find. Like, she requires citations on almost everything, and there's information that is in my head, but I can't just write it on paper and call it a day because that's not a citation. Which adds probably an hour minimum to each question, if not more.
Cannot wait to be done with this class, honestly,

SPOILERS!!
Oh my god???(Golb) there’s so much going on in these two episodes I don’t know where to start.
Okay episodic, without Simon, Marcy gets raised by her dad and turns vicious and pretentious, which contrasts with how Marshall is down to earth and doesn’t get along with his mom.
That whole episode seemed to focus on the father-daughter relationship between multiple characters: Marcy and Simon, Marshall and his mom, Fionna and Martin, and baby Finn and Martin.
Side note but really sad how Martin loved baby Finn and protected Fionna and didn’t even know they were related. Don’t even know if Fionna knows that’s her dad(mom). We also now know why Fionna has his jacket in the intro!
Of course there’s also the parallels between apocalypse Bonnie and Marcy and Marshall and Gary. Marshall and Gary are in the start of their relationship, while Bonnie and Marcy are literally at the end, as it implies they both die. While Marshall and Gary stand together and Gary sticks up for Marshall, making the sacrifice to throw his opportunity at becoming big in the baking industry away, Marcy and Bonnie make a sacrifice together by dying together.
And that leads to the second episode, the one about sacrifice. In this one we have our side plot being Simon and Betty’s love story that Simon tells Fionna to distract her. (Clearly none of them have healthy coping mechanisms.) We can see that, while Simon does love Betty, Betty made the sacrifices for Simon while Simon did nothing. Fionna even asks if Simon got on the bus with Betty while Simon seems shocked and confused as to why he would do that.
Simon has not had to make any sacrifices when it came to Betty. Another form of sacrifice we see is when BMO sacrifices himself in order to help them. And really the whole plot of this episode involves the previous one where Cake basically sacrificed her safety to try to nab the crown from the vampire king.
These episodes really focus on sacrifices and the consequences for loved ones those sacrifices make, which I find VERY interesting.
Maybe that’s why, at the end, Simon is able to FINALLY see Betty again, because he sacrificed his sanity for Fionna and Cake, even though at this point Fionna doesn’t want him to because she didn’t realize until this episode how crazy and miserable Ice King actually was.
He even says “goodbye brain” while flashback Betty says “goodbye Simon.” Maybe this symbolizes the sacrifices they made that were the hardest for them and that’s what brought them together. Or maybe Betty’s wish of keeping Simon safe stopped him from losing his mind again.
From what we’ve gathered so far, everyone in this series is miserable. Even the Lich. It seems, no matter if they get their wish, they still end up sad and alone.
Really interested in how they’ll top off this series next week!!
