I can't help but notice that in House of Villains, you weren't part of the main villain crew when they took over the House of Mouse. How come? (Also I just saw you schmoozing with Chernabog there 🤨 were you two a thing before Hades or...?

"Though I enthusiastically embraced the usurpation of the House of Mouse and lent my aid to the cause, Jafar intended for his little Halloween trick to be a surprise for us all. As I was seated with other villainous friends that evening, I was not made aware of the plans until after the surprise was sprung."

DTVA/DTS TAGTEAM TWEET-ATHON MOVIE #40: MICKEY’S HOUSE OF VILLAINS (2002) 

It’s like I said before, it was such a wasted opportunity that they never built an actual House of Mouse for one of the theme parks, because this movie could be the basis for a great Halloween overlay.

I feel like whenever anyone talks about House of Mouse, they always bring up this movie. My guess is that it was heavily advertised, and people wanted a movie that flaunted the novelty of having all the Disney villains team up.

Does this movie fulfill that need? In my personal opinion: no. I feel that this one is a victim of nostalgia, as this movie barely has anything to do with the villains at all.

It’s another short compilation, this time themed to Halloween. This means we get WDAS classics like “The Lonesome Ghosts”, in addition to the spookier shorts from Mickey Mouse Works.

The problem is, I feel like this movie just has too many shorts. The movie becomes so bogged down with them, that the interludes have no time to explore the villains’ interactions.

Also, they don’t include a lot of classic shorts that would feel like no brainers. The fact that there’s no “Skeleton Dance” or any “Mad Doctor” shorts is a crying shame.

Also, it really seems like the Mickey Mouse Works team really wanted to work on a new Fantasia movie, because a lot of their shorts feel like they would fit right in if they were given a budget boost.

The number one thing people probably remember is the song and Mickey’s final battle with Jafar. I do think the song is fun. I find myself singing “It’s Our House Now” every now and then around Halloween, but it really doesn’t do much with its setup beyond that.

Mickey’s battle with Jafar was a lot more epic to me as a child. Right now, it looks awkward and stiff, and ends quickly with Aladdin showing up with a deus ex machina that makes absolutely no sense.

Just, eh....this could’ve been so much better. I just think the sheer volume of shorts outweighs the interludes which are the selling point of the movie. 

4.5/10: This movie depicts both Goofy and Donald tragically getting killed in car accidents. I am not making this up.
