The screen flickers to life, casting a sterile blue glow across the high-glass boardroom. A chime sounds. The synth music is soft, warm, unnaturally comforting.
“In a perfect world… who says you have to be alone?”
[Scene: golden morning light streams through a smart-home window. A woman sips tea as a tall, smiling man ties her apron for her. Cut to holographic customization panels, fingers sliding across facial presets, hair types, emotional spectrums. A glossy chrome heart pulses as code flows behind it.]
“Introducing Build-A-Boyfriend™, a revolutionary experience by KQ Inc., the world’s leading innovator in emotional robotics. Whether you’re looking for loyalty, laughter, protection, or passion — we’ve engineered the perfect companion, from his cheekbones to his charm.”
“Over 100 hairstyles. 20 hair colors. Hundreds of adjustable features: emotional intelligence, love languages,
conflict styles. Everything is customizable. Everything is yours.”
“Build trust. Build comfort. Build connection.”
[The KQ logo glows softly: a platinum rose blooming from circuitry.]
Build-A-Boyfriend™
Grand Opening — November 17, 3258 — Hala City
The video faded into silence. Then the lights returned, crisp, clinical, bright.
At the head of the table stood Chairwoman Vira Yun, CEO of KQ Inc. Her expression remained unreadable, but her eyes gleamed, the kind of gleam found in calculated ambition, not excitement.
She turned to face the table of top engineers, market strategists, and high-clearance developers.
“Thoughts? she asked, her tone brisk. “Feedback. Questions. Concerns. Suggestions.”
A silence followed, not out of fear, not exactly, but out of discipline. KQ Inc. didn’t reward enthusiasm. It rewarded precision.
Finally, a market rep near the center offered, “The tone tests well in demos. Emotionally aspirational, but still sterilized enough to fit city guidelines.”
“The language?” Yun asked.
“Romantic but controlled,” another replied. “'Ownership' is implied without being direct. Citizens won’t be alarmed.”
“Excellent,” Yun said with a curt nod. “Then we proceed as planned. Hala City's flagship store opens November 17th. Media campaign rollout begins in three days.”
She paused, her gaze sharpening.
“The special line will not be mentioned until one week after launch. Is that understood?”
A few heads nodded. Only a handful at the table even knew what that “special line” truly entailed. Yn was one of them.
She sat toward the far end of the table, posture poised, eyes tired. Her tablet rested on her lap, screen dimmed, but behind the sleep mode glowed a list of internal reports tagged:
ATEEZ-BETA UNITS: BEHAVIOR DEVIATIONS – OBSERVATION LOGS PENDING
Yn said nothing.
There were already signs the line was unstable. Minor things: timing issues in reaction sequences, spontaneous micro-expressions, strange audio interference. Nothing outside protocol, not yet. Nothing that couldn’t be debugged.
Hala City was the Matriarchy’s masterpiece, a glass-and-steel paradise built after the Fall, when nature reclaimed the earth and humankind rebuilt without the burden of chaos.
The male species was gone — extinct from war, plague, or something worse. The truth was debated in underground circles, but the government insisted: peace was found through elimination.
The Supreme Matrons ruled with quiet efficiency. Reproduction was artificial. Emotional regulation was enforced. Love — in its unpredictable, biological form, was discouraged as outdated.
Children were raised by state guardians. Affection was simulated and scheduled. Bonds were monitored through neural metrics and performance reviews.
In that vacuum, KQ Inc. thrived.
They created companions for the emotionally delicate. Tutors for the socially underdeveloped. Grief simulations for those who had lost what the government refused to acknowledge.
Build-A-Boyfriend™ was simply the next logical step.
The meeting ended, the room emptied — chairs tucked in without a sound, tablets tucked under arms, footsteps softened by KQ’s luxury anti-clatter flooring.
Yn lingered a moment longer, tablet resting against her chest, fingers tense.
Then she slipped out of her seat, crossed the vast corridor of frosted glass and synthetic sunlight, and pressed her palm to the exit panel. The doors whispered open, exhaling a puff of sterilized air, and she stepped outside into the city.
Outside the glass wall that stretched from floor to ceiling, the city pulsed in clean, geometric order. Silver transport rails carved silently through the skyline. Light panels glowed in a muted spectrum, perfectly synchronized to the day’s emotional calibration code. Every color, every sound, every rhythm was regulated, each calculated to keep citizens at a precise emotional neutrality.
Stability. Efficiency. Harmony.
Those were Hala’s sacred values. Engraved into the entrance of every government building, stitched into every school uniform.
Hala City had no military, no prisons, no religion. The old world’s chaos had been scrubbed from its bones. Instead, there were wellness assessments, emotional correction centers, and State Therapeutic Companions — androids assigned to citizens whose neural scans showed spikes in sentiment, unpredictability, or unresolved grief.
It had been 149 years since The Great Reset, when the last male died and the Matriarchy took hold. Whether extinction was natural or engineered no longer mattered, the Supreme Matrons had rewritten history to begin after.
The world before was called The Collapse Era. Now, the world simply was.
From childhood, every citizen of Hala was raised by assigned maternal figures, rotations of calm, trained nurturers programmed to teach logic, order, and controlled affection.
Love, in the romantic sense, was considered a chemical imbalance. Desire was tolerated only in controlled expressions — within VR therapy suites or government-regulated media.
To crave more was a sign of dysfunction. To want more? Dangerous.
But over time, cracks began to show.
The rise of emotional dependency disorders — the ache for connection that no algorithm could suppress. The quiet epidemic of phantom longing. Citizens reporting dreams they weren’t supposed to have. Feelings they couldn’t place. Names they didn’t know how they knew.
KQ Inc. had the answer: give them what they wanted — but make it safe.
Build-A-Boyfriend™ wasn’t about love. It was about control. A need engineered, then sold. And the citizens of Hala were already lining up.
She turned down a quiet residential corridor — the one lined with mirrored trees and soft sky-glass tiles that absorbed her footsteps. Her apartment block loomed ahead, blinking her ID tag onto the entrance gate.
She glanced once at the skyline before entering — her eyes landing on the KQ Tower far in the distance, its dark silver peak glowing like a god in the clouds.
The door sealed shut behind her with a quiet hiss. Inside, her apartment was as minimal as the rest of Hala — soft lighting, neutral tones, minimalistic furniture, automated temperature preset to her emotional range for the day.
No clutter. No pictures. No history.
Yn set her tablet down on the charging dock near the entry shelf. The screen flickered to life automatically.
⚠️ ALERT: BEHAVIORAL DEVIATION DETECTED — ATEEZ UNIT 06 Timestamp: 19:04 | Lab 3A Observation Room Severity: Red Flagged: Autonomy Spike — Eye Tracking Outside Command
The warning blinked in silence.
Yn didn’t see it. She had already sunk into the corner of her sofa, head tilted back, eyes closed, letting the hum of her apartment’s emotional regulation system blur the sharpness of her thoughts.
She didn’t see the screen pulse again.
⚠️ Second Deviation Logged. Timestamp: 19:10 | Lab 3A Observation Room Severity: Red Flagged: Autonomy Spike —ATEEZ UNIT 06 SPOKE WITHOUT PROMPT. Transcription Pending... “YN"
The screen dimmed. The room fell silent. And somewhere, deep below the city, something smiled.

Help Us Choose Our Next Game!
We received so many wonderful submissions from the indie ttrpg community of games to play next on Tiny Table. We need your help to narrow them down! We will be taking the top 3 games to Patreon for our patrons in the Mini and Micro tier to vote on.
Reactors and Romance: Reactors and Romance is a rules-light RPG about flirting while piloting a giant robot. You only have one stat, and that is your HEAT 🔥. Your HEAT measures how hot your mech's reactor is getting, and how hot of a pilot you are 😉 Will you fight or flirt your way through battle? Can you keep your mech from overheating? What will it be hotshot?
To Infinity...: Inspired by Alien and The Thing, "To Infinity..." is a tabletop social deduction game where up to 4 players and 1 GM need to escape on a spaceship from an alien monster who killed the rest of the crew. What none of the survivors know is that this isn't just a monster, the alien could be any one of them...
Hellborn Descended: Hellborn Descended is an infernal TTRPG set in a modern Hell, inspired by comics and shows such as Hellboy and Helluva Boss. In Hellborn, players take on the role of sinners, demons, and fallen angels, working together as mercenaries to attain wealth, fame, and power, or gloriously die trying. Check out their kickstarter!
Darkest Hour: Darkest Hour is a horror tabletop game inspired by horror movies of all kinds, featuring a group of monster hunters attempting to put a stop to a malicious supernatural entity in a single night. Over the course of six rounds, known as the Hours, the hunters must use their abilities to establish benefits that will aid them even as the haunt grows in strength and the hunters become less effective. As Blackest Night envelops them, the haunt feels insurmountable -- will the hunters find the haunt's true weakness and destroy it for good, or be whittled down until only a Final Girl remains? Featuring six haunts, six locations ripe for the haunting, and six unique hunter archetypes, Darkest Hour is perfect for one-shots for 2-5 players, and can either be run by a GM, or communally without a GM.
Dawn of the Orcs: Dawn of the Orcs is a GMless dark fantasy worldbuilding and roleplaying game. Play the magical technocrats who create the first orcs as living weapons and tell the story of how the Orcs become their own people. It can be played seriously as a fantasy transhumanist Dr. Strangelove, or as a wacky game of Saruman by committee.
The Trains of the Glorious Republic of the People: The Trains of the Glorious Republic of the People is a tabletop RPG where players take on the roles of a train crew in a fictional 1930s totalitarian state. Your mission is simple: get yourselves and your unique train from point A to point B though things are never that easy on the tracks of the Glorious Republic. The game requires only d6s, pen, paper, and, above all, your loyalty to the party.
Paratype: Paratype takes place in the aftermath of an apocalypse where giant bugs have reclaimed the earth. For humans survival is a challenge-one helped by the invention of a device that grants strange new buggy abilities. Paratype is a game about survival, humanity and so, so many bugs.
Broke Wizards: Broke Wizards is a light, silly game about working class sorcery. Play as students of the prestigious Audment's Academy of the Arcane who must go delving for treasure in order to pay tuition. To cast magic, wizards must use items found around their dormitory as makeshift spell ingredients - and then use their real-life argumentative skills to convince the living force of magic that yes, actually, a dirty shot glass is a great ingredient for casting a spell of water breathing, thank you very much.
RiskTaker: RiskTaker is a GM-less system built around players making big moves with big risks. Each sessions revolves around "The Scene," a climactic event like an episode's final battle in a superhero TV show, or the aftermath of a heist gone wrong. Players take turns either doing exposition scenes to give context to The Scene and built character relationships, or Influencing The Scene, which means they take a decisive action and decide how effective that action will be. But watch out - the more impactful your action, the more things can go wrong, and the more likely it is that they will. But what's a good story without a few Risks?
'til it kills us: in ‘til it kills us, you play as a group of young, reckless queer activists fighting to make a difference in the world. you’re angry, and you’re scared, and rightfully so. not to mention, you’re all a little bit fucked up. whether you’re dealing with issues at home, struggling with mental illness, or just learning to stand on your own two feet, life isn’t easy. but you’re also in love with the world, and with each other, so you keep fighting anyway. it’s the only thing you can do. the only problem is your magic. sure, it protects you. sure, it helps you fight. but you can feel it – feeding on the most unpleasant parts of you. and the longer you have this magic, the more you fear by those feelings. you worry it might be powering but you keep fighting. what else is there? remember what you always said: we’re going to keep on fighting ‘til it kills us.
If you submitted a game to us and don't see it on the list, don't fret! We will be hosting many polls like this and your game is still in consideration. If you game is on here and isn't chosen to move on to our next poll, also don't fret! We may add it on to the next poll again.

Foolproof method to maximizing your chance to enter the Void State
1)What is the Void State?
The Void State(also called pure awarness)isn’t a magical portal but rather a very specific neurological state.
- Brainwaves: High activity of theta (4-8 Hz) and alpha (8-12 Hz) waves.
- Executive control reduced: Your prefrontal brain (control center) slows down.
- Default Mode Network (DMN) suppressed: This is the network behind your daily inner monologue ("mental chatter").
- Sensory anchoring fades: You stop being strongly connected to your environment's sensations.
You enter a zone where your mind becomes deeply receptive and free from usual self-talk.

You’re no longer emotionally or sensorily anchored to your CR (Current Reality).
- Your brain becomes extremely open to suggestions, visualizations and reality reconstructions.
Why does Void allow fast shifting / manifesting?
- You’re no longer disturbed by internal contradictions of the critical mind.
- It allows your mind to install self-consistent assumptions into deep unconscious cognition.
- Cognitive filters like doubt, logic, and self-check go temporarily offline.
Useful comparisons to understand the Void State
- Deep hypnosis
- Relaxed hypnagogic paralysis (without panic)
- Samadhi meditative states
- light shamanic trance
- controlled dissociation

2) Understand the void state’s goal
The Void State is:
- Extreme dissociation from Current Reality (CR)
- Reduced self-talk / overthinking
- Increased alpha, theta, and sometimes delta waves.
- Easier access to deeply rooted unconscious assumptions and hypnagogic states
3) Preparation over multiple days (not mandatory but very helpful)
What most people don’t do enough:
- Mild cognitive stimulation deprivation during the day (limit screens, social media, complex discussions, heavy mental load)
- Sensory reprogramming: lots of nature, white noise, low frequency music
- Very stable sleep routine for several days before
- Voluntary dissociation training: observe your thoughts without judgment, practice floating gaze, passive micro-meditation

You can prepare yourself by listening to white noice the days before you will enter the void state
4) The underestimated physiological key: the body must be “under-activated”
- Avoid sugar, caffeine, or sensory excitement at least 4h before (if you can reduce screens 1h before, even better, otherwise use blue light filters)
- Very slow breathing (cardiac coherence): 4 seconds inhale / 6 seconds exhale for at least 10 min before
- Lower body temperature slightly (cooler room, warm showers beforehand)
- Comfortable position without muscle tension (but not so relaxed that you fall asleep completely)

This kind of video can be used as a preparation to ease critical thinking can be done just before or the days before in preparation
5) Powerful neuro-cognitive tips
WBTB (Wake Back To Bed):
- Wake up after 5 hours of sleep
- Stay awake 15-30 min doing light visualizations or affirmations, then go back to bed (best dissociation & REM window)
Use binaural or isochronic alpha/theta stimulation during the attempt
(e.g. start with 8 Hz then gradually lower to 4 Hz)
Very slow auto-suggestions during the attempt (not robotic affirmations)
Example:
I am gently dissociating from my CR. Everything feels light. I am completely calm.”
Floating body technique:
Visualize your body becoming ultra-light, slowly losing all gravity (helps sensorimotor detachment)

You can use this kind of waves which help to enter the void more easily for most profile (unless you don't like sound)
6) The mistakes that ruin (or at least reduce) your chances
- Forcing mentally ("I must succeed tonight!")
- Over-analyzing affirmations into robotic repetitions
- Trying 50 different methods in a row without stabilizing a protocol
- Wanting too much to feel "mandatory symptoms" before entering the void (shaking, vibrations, etc.)

7)Long-term facilitating factors (often overlooked)
- Regular passive meditation practice (even 10 min/day, and it’s ok if you fall asleep)
- Therapeutic work on performance anxiety (fear of "not succeeding" is one of the biggest blockers)
- Cognitive flexibility and allowing space for the unconscious instead of "forcing logic"
- Highly dissociative profiles (DPDR, etc.) may have more ease without realizing it
8)The Void State as a space of interaction with the subconscious
The Void isn’t just a "portal to shifting" or manifestation:
It's a state where the critical barrier of the conscious mind is lowered.
→ You can access deeper unconscious layers.
Underused use:
→ Dialogue with your own subconscious.
You can:
- Ask yourself:
- "Are there unconscious resistances to my shifting?"
- "Do I have fears or blockages I don’t consciously recognize?"
- Let spontaneous impressions, images, sensations emerge.
- Observe without forcing: often answers come in symbolic form.
Inner acceptance is key
It’s not a fight of forced mental assumptions.
It’s a letting go where you allow the new reality to be integrated as inner evidence.
Many underestimate:
- That integration of your assumptions sometimes goes through unconscious internal verification.
- That blockages often come from unresolved internal conflicts, not lack of will.
Practical tip:
Before an attempt, gently set an exploratory intention:
“I am ready to hear what my unconscious wants to show me to move forward.”
This promotes cooperation instead of fighting your own psyche.
9)Important reality-check: not all brains are equal when it comes to entering the void state.
It’s crucial to understand that some people have a neuroplasticity, a natural dissociation, or a cognitive flexibility that allows them to enter the void much faster, sometimes even without any structured method.
For others, the process requires much longer conditioning. This doesn’t mean they are “inferior” or “less spiritually aligned”, it simply means their cognitive mechanisms are different.
Certain individual variables that greatly influence ease:
- Natural dissociation (DPDR, fantasies, mental absorption, immersive imagination )
- Ability to slow down self-tall (inner speech)
- Hypnagogia sensitivity
- Relationship to performance anxiety
- Level of attachment to results
Everyone theoretically has the capacity to access it, but the path isn’t identical.
This guide’s purpose is to give tools for those for whom it’s not “instantaneous”, without falling into guilt-based meritocracy.

Summary
- Calm the analytical hypercortex (ego, analysis, self-criticism)
- Emotionally stabilize(with calm, serenity, gentleness)
- Decrease attachment to immediate success
- Maximize hypnagogic and dissociative states
Happy shifting <3

Psycho-pass Movie Novel Chapter 8 Complete
Note before reading: sentences in italics represent the character’s thoughts; sentences between square brackets are phone/radio conversations or the voice of dominators or other electronic devices.
1
At the gate of Shambala Float, Tsunemori was asked to leave her weapons. She was a little irritated at being treated like an enemy, but she didn’t consider the government forces to be her allies either. She reminded herself that she had gone so far with her actions on the battlefield that it couldn’t be helped.

Surrounded by soldiers of the National Military Police soldiers, Tsunemori was forced to walk at gunpoint. After a lift to the top floor, she was taken to the courtyard of the National Military Police dormitory. There, a grim-faced Nicholas was waiting for her.
“…No matter how important you are as a guest, our patience has a limit…”
“Important guest? You tried to kill me.”
“It was because you were working with a guerrilla.”
“That was part of the investigation.”
“Why can’t you understand that this is ‘our country’? You are confined and will be forcibly repatriated to Japan on the next airfreight.”
Repatriated? Finally, Tsunemori’s expression changed. With a look of steel on her face, she moved closer to Nicholas, and in response, the other soldiers threatened her with their weapons. Nicholas despised Tsunemori and was wary of her. But Tsunemori hadn’t expected him to see her as such a threat. She was prepared for house arrest, but not for repatriation. It was highly unlikely that the soldiers would even allow Tsunemori to open her mouth.
At that moment, the soldiers in the courtyard suddenly stood at attention.
Footsteps approached and Nicholas looked suspiciously in their direction to see Chairman Hang.
“I’d rather you didn’t make important decisions alone.”
“Your Excellency Chairman…!”
“There is no need to repatriate her. Send her back to her room and put her under supervision.”
“But… !”
“Silence! I have my doubts about the way the National Military Police have acted recently. And I am the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.”
“Yes, sir…”!
This time Nicholas changed colour.
“That was too harsh. As you know, she is a guest... an inspector from the Japanese Ministry of Welfare. Please, take that into account.”
“…”
Chairman Hang’s leniency created a feeling of mistrust in Tsunemori.
2
The guesthouse was located in a corner of the Sky Gardens of Krita Yuga. Tsunemori returned to her assigned private room, a cottage-style loft structure. She had been forced to return. Two security drones and two soldiers stood guard at the door of the room. She was effectively under house arrest, but she felt she had been saved from forced repatriation.
“Well, then…”
Tsunemori checked the radio wave signal in the room using the sophisticated portable terminal provided to the inspectors, and then carefully checked the power supply, lighting and communications systems. — She discovered that the holographic TV system embedded in the wall had been bugged. She was not particularly surprised. The display on the portable terminal showed that the bathroom, which also contained a toilet, was indeed unmonitored.
Tsunemori entered the bathroom bringing along her self-moving suitcase. First, she took out her notebook, then she opened the cosmetics pouch that Karanomori Shion had hidden, which was filled with the Public Safety Bureau’s ‘Pill bug’ micro-drones.
Tsunemori entered the empty bathtub with the notebook in her hand. As she gave a command on her portable terminal, a multitude of pill bugs began to move simultaneously. The micro-robots rolled around under the power of their macromolecular motors, spreading out through the drains and ventilation fans.

They explored the area from the quarters of the National Military Police to the nearby Chairman’s residence and the surrounding Government Headquarters. It took time, but in the meantime Akane operated the notebook. She found a relay node[1] in Shambala Float and connected to it wirelessly. Careful not to leave any traces, she fed it the hacking programme she had received from Karanomori via her portable terminal. As soon as this was accomplished, a hologram appeared on Tsunemori’s portable terminal with the words [Private Network Established] and [Satellite Communication Online].
“Sorry about this, Shion-san. Can you hear me?”
[Oh, Akane-chan.]
The time difference between SEAUn and Japan was two hours. Karanomori was usually at work at that time. She had tried to communicate with her, thinking that as long as there were no major incidents, she would pick up right away.
[Yes, of course. The programme I gave you seems to be working. So, what’s going on?]
“I’m scattering the pill bugs all over the place. These guys can fool the security equipment in this country. Please check every single psycho-pass diagnostic device installed in buildings and on the streets.”
[What do you hope to find? The Sibyl System is already running there, isn’t it? In that case...]
“The System may not be working fairly. Selectively check the relevant equipment within the Special Ward, especially that of the Military Police. Check that the cymatic scans are really measuring accurately.”
[A detective’s intuition... sort of thing?]
Tsunemori laughed at Karanomori’s words.
“It’s not like that. It’s the result of a series of considerations.”
[Okay. I’ll go all out.]
The pill bugs started the search. The collected data was transferred to Tsunemori’s computer, from where it was sent to Karanomori in Japan via satellite through a private network .
“One more thing. The collars used to monitor latent criminals here in Shambala Special Ward are also made in Japan, right?”
[Shouldn’t they be?]
“Could you please find a code to unlock them under the authority of the Public Safety Bureau?”
[It’s a piece of cake, but... will you be all right? The Military Police won’t be all too pleased, will they? ]
“I am long past the stage where I act by worrying about people’s moods .”
3
— The Old Town, where the guerrilla clean-up had come to an end. The camp of Desmond’s mercenaries had been set up in a large, abandoned theatre that occupied one corner of the city. Armoured vehicles, transporters and two powered suits had been brought into the atrium.
Kougami’s hands were tied with reinforced plastic bands, and he was suspended by chains from hooks in the ceiling. His upper body had been stripped naked, and he was covered in bruises from being beaten and kicked.
The man torturing Kougami was a large, muscular Frenchman — Weber. Rutaganda, Babangida and Bun looked on. The Russian, Yulia, had just returned from buying local alcohol and food. Yulia tossed a bottle of whisky to Rutaganda and a bottle of beer to Weber.

Having got his drink, Weber stopped hitting Kougami and took a break.
Rutaganda approached Kougami instead. After putting the whisky on the table, he reached into his survival kit and pulled out a small pair of first-aid scissors.
Medical scissors with a thin, knife-like tip.
Rutaganda opened the scissors and placed them on Kougami’s nipple. The cold blades touched the muscular chest, and the man involuntarily frowned at the repulsive sensation. Rutaganda pinched Kougami’s nipple with the tip of the sharp scissors. A little more force and it would have been cut off.
“First of all, I can’t shake off the suspicion that you were acting as a military advisor to the guerrillas under someone else’s orders.”
Rutaganda inquired.
“Actually, didn’t you have contact with the Japanese Tsunemori even after you left the country? To what extent does the Japanese government know the real situation of SEAUn? ... That’s what we want to know.”
“It would have been much easier if I had had the support of the Japanese government…”
Kougami defiantly held his ground.
“What makes you think that? You’re the one who’s supposed to have connections with the Japanese government, aren’t you? Shambala Float is a division of the Ministry of Welfare…”
“Don’t you care about nipples? How about here, then?”
Rutaganda placed the medical scissors on Kougami’s crouch. He clamped them around the base and, as expected, Kougami’s face contorted at the feel of the blades touching the sensitive area.
“…Do it!” Kougami said.
“It doesn’t sound like you were acting,” Rutaganda put the scissors back in her bag. “Even men have less fun when they lose their nipples. You should be grateful for my kindness.”
“…These aren’t regular army methods. You’re mercenaries, right?”
Kougami countered. Rutaganda laughed.
“I was surprised to find that the guerrilla military advisor I had heard so much about was Japanese. I thought that country was nothing but a phony, spineless rubbish, with all the Sibyl and other bullshit.”
“It’s true that I don’t have a place there anymore.”
“Did you leave the government service after receiving a professional training? But as a mercenary, you are third-rate. Above all, you have no eye for choosing your employers.”
“Don’t lump me in with your hyenas. I don’t just live by trailing the scent of blood.”
“Well, that’s the kind of nonsense that only a former detective would say. There are those who are eager to write slogans saying that in the ideal state of violence there is both law and justice. In a world where states have collapsed, there is a ‘privatisation of violence’. This is because the monopoly of organised violence is the essence of the state. When violence begins to spread, it becomes ‘infrapolitical’[2]. Organised violence as an economic activity, with social resentment as its source.”
Kougami laughed scornfully.
“ ‘The wretched of the earth’[3], eh? A post-colonialist mercenary is hard to deal with.”
“Huh? You’re not only skilled, but also educated? More and more interesting.”
Rutaganda raised his eyebrows, somewhat impressed.
Then he released Kougami’s bonds.
“What?” the mercenaries shouted in surprise, but Kougami was the most surprised of all.
— What is he up to?
“ From what I have heard, your fellow guerrillas idolised you. Did you inspire them with some reassuring ideologies?”
As he said this, Rutaganda lightly adopted an orthodox boxing stance.
Then Kougami finally understood.
He wanted to test Kougami’s skills a bit more... that’s how it was.
“…no idea.”
“Hmmm. But I wonder. Sure is that when I talk to you, I feel strangely uplifted. It’s like listening to Wagner’s music.”
“These are words I’d rather hear coming from a glamorous, beautiful woman. Hearing them from a man just gives me goosebumps.”
Hearing this, Yulia from the gallery tilted her head and wondered ‘Is he referring to me?’ But Kougami was focused on Rutaganda, and the beautiful woman was out of sight.
“That talent of yours is precious, Mister Japanese. You’d make a good agitator. You have a special charisma that can stir up anger and focus resentment.”
Kougami tried Rutaganda’s skill test.
After the torture, his condition was close to the worst. Just lifting his arms made every joint in his body ache. And yet, when Rutaganda gave him that ‘come at me’ attitude, he couldn’t help but do so.
Kougami tried to hit him but failed. Due to the pain and his diminished strength, his punch was too long. Rutaganda easily dodged it and counterpunched him.
Rutaganda’s left fist was human, but still effective. Two more jabs from Rutaganda. Kougami did not dodge and continued to receive sharp, fast punches.
This is good boxing — . Even at my best, it will be hard to beat Rutaganda, Kougami thought. A left punch alone had almost knocked him out.
In a hazy state of consciousness, Kougami still managed to put together a plan.
— Rutaganda’s right arm must be made of a special alloy.
The left, of course, is a decoy. A diversion. The real punch will come from the right.
Kougami dared to throw a jab.
He wobbled but dared to throw it anyway.
Then he waited for Rutaganda’s right hand.
The sound of the blow, the pain. The skin of his cheek torn. The taste of blood filling the cut mouth.
Finally — the long-awaited right came.
(— I did it!)
Rutaganda threw a right straight and Kougami matched it with a left hook.
A cross counter.
A steel fist was driven into Kougami’s face, but he also landed a powerful blow.

“…!”
The mercenaries’ eyes widened at the sight. It had been a long time since they had seen Rutaganda take a beating — No, it was the first time since they had formed the mercenary group. Weber almost dropped the bottle of beer he was drinking and quickly grabbed it on the way down.
The damage was worse for Kougami.
His knees trembled and he fell.
But Rutaganda’s feet wobbled as well.
Kougami hadn’t been able to defeat Rutaganda with a single blow, but he was doing what he could now.
“No way! That’s awesome.”
Laughing, Rutaganda pulled out a gun from his belt. It was the revolver pistol he had taken from Kougami. He pointed the muzzle of the revolver at Kougami, who had fallen to the ground.
“It’s rather modest, but we have our own community. Eventually we want to build up our forces and form our own military clique. When that happens, we’ll need not only the usual leadership skills, but also the ability to excite and captivate the masses.”
Rutaganda poured whisky onto the pistol he was holding up. The highly alcoholic drink poured down the barrel of the gun onto Kougami. It seeped into the wounds all over his body. Kougami groaned involuntarily at the burning pain in his nerves.
“How about it? Do you feel like joining us? We'll give you the opportunity to hone your skills and set the stage for you to be able to use them to their fullest.”
The mercenaries scowled at Rutaganda’s proposal.
“He… hey! Leader…”, Babangida said with a confused look on his face.
Rutaganda ignored the voices of his subordinates and continued.
“If I hand you over to my client like this, you’ll be dead anyway. I’m saying that I’m giving you a chance to live.”
“I don’t see how that’s better than dying, don’t expect me to be grateful.”
Wet with whisky and enduring the pain, Kougami spat out resolutely. Rutaganda was about to say something when he received a call on his portable terminal.
[Is he still alive? The male target.]
It was from Nicholas Wong of Shambala Float.
“Yeah. Can I kill him yet?”
[He still has some use. Bring him to me.]
“…copy that.”
Rutaganda ended the call and shrugged at Kougami.
“I would have liked to give you some time to think it over. Too bad, that was poor timing.”

The doorbell rang in Tsunemori’s room. She was now under house arrest by the National Military Police. In this situation, only one person was using the intercom. Tsunemori, who had her laptop open in the bathtub, invited her maid, Yeo, into the room.
“Excuse me. I see you’ve returned to your room…”
Yeo had brought the meal on a tray cart. Porridge with chicken, fried egg. A spicy salad. She was tempted to eat it all, but for the moment she held back and just gulped down a glass of mineral water.
Tsunemori moved her face closer to Yeo.
“What?”
“Stay calm.”
Tsunemori grabbed Yeo’s hand and pulled her into the bathroom. There she pressed her portable terminal against the girl’s collar and entered the code she had received from Karanomori. This unlocked the collar, which came off and fell to the floor.
“Th-this is…” a confused Yeo said.
“Calm down and listen to me. I need your cooperation.”
“… cooperation?”
“To expose the abuses committed by the National Military Police.”
“…!” Yeo’s eyes widened in surprise.
“It’s okay. If I can’t prove that there’s corruption in the Military Police, you can just say I threatened you. Then you won’t be charged with a crime.”
“… Are the National Police really corrupt?”
“There’s no doubt about it. So much so that I could stake my entire career on it.”
“But”
Then it happened. Suddenly, Tsunemori’s vision began to sway. Her knees were shaking, and she could not stand properly.
I’ve been drugged. — When? The mineral water just now! Yeo betrayed me? In any case, the enemy beat me to it. The next moment, realising she was in a bad situation, she used her remaining strength to retrieve the notebook she had left in the bathroom, switched the pill bugs to autonomous control, and executed the command to erase all data. She left the rest to the Karanomori.
Yeo ran out of the bathroom.
“Yeo-san…”
Tsunemori ran after her on shaky legs.
The door opened and Nicholas and his soldiers burst in. The drug had made it impossible for Tsunemori to resist, and she was tied behind her back with a plastic band.
“…!”
“I did as you said!” Yeo clung to Nicholas.
“Now you are really going to take off my brother’s collar, aren’t you? His illness is progressing and a high level of medical — ”
“I’ll have a good think about it.”
Nicholas pushed Yeo away and drew his gun. He shot her carelessly in the head.
“Tsk!”
“Don't kill the woman yet. We’ll arrange for her to die together with the guerrilla’s military advisor. It’s the least suspicious way.”
“Why did you kill Yeo-san?!”
Tsunemori’s mouth barely moved as it should have.
“The gun I just used was the one I confiscated from you,” Nicholas said triumphantly.
“Inspector Tsunemori shoots and kills the maid in order to escape. She runs outside and tries to join the guerrilla leader. Then we rush to the scene and shoot the inspector and the guerrilla to death... We used to be able to deal with the troublemakers more easily, but now we have to be very careful with the Sibyl System, right? ...”
“I knew you guys weren’t getting read by the cymatic scans. The scanners in this city have been fooled.”
“Oh? Do you have proof?”
“You just killed someone!”
“If the Sibyl system doesn’t complain, no action is a crime. Isn’t that so?”
Laughing, Nicholas poked Yeo’s corpse with his toe.
“In other words, this woman was just trash who deserved to die. That’s fine with me.”
Tsunemori looked at Yeo’s corpse. She had been a beautiful girl, but now most of the back of her head was gone and pieces of her brain were spilling out of the large gaping hole in her skull.
— A person like her shouldn’t have been killed. Tsunemori bit her lip in frustration.

[1] Relay node: radio stations that cannot communicate directly due to distance, terrain or other difficulties sometimes use an intermediate radio relay station to relay the signals. A radio relay receives weak signals and retransmits them, often in a different direction, as a stronger signal.
[2] Infrapolitical: Adjective of infrapolitics. Infrapolitics refers to the study of political actions and consequences that occur below or outside the realm of official political structures and processes. It examines the physical, social, and political infrastructure that supports urban life, including how it can be used for both oppression and resistance. Infrapolitics explores how individuals, groups, and institutions engage in non-traditional forms of political expression and action.

Here, we all wonder why people can’t, but does anyone even stop to think if Robot Masters even have such capabilities? Because I feel like there are implications to making your industrial robots have the ability to bang in the first place. You don’t design and add a feature on your expensive robot just to not use it in some capacity.
I was wondering your thoughts on the matter. I hope this isn’t a bit too serious since I know this is a lighthearted blog, but stuff like this bothers me because I think too much.
It's definitely not too serious, but it's something I'm going to have to step out of character to do, since Stop Man has a lot of baggage about this subject and there's some things I can't shitpost about in good conscience.
You're correct in that there's a lot of implications in making industrial robots with the ability to have sex in the first place! There are a lot of implications.
Now, keep in mind that this is a franchise for children. Capcom isn't going to go into it, and most fandom participants aren't going to dig into it. And they have every right to not want to! But as any asexual in the last several centuries can tell you, the impact sex has on the way society at large engages with the individual formulates much of our life, whether on a micro level or a macro level.
If we're going to do some serious hypothetical worldbuilding upon the themes of this over-35-year children's franchise, we have to think about the nasty. Logically speaking, with Light striving for a transhumanist future where humans and robots live in harmony, that will have to include sex in some capacity. Sex, including the choice to have sex or to not have sex, is an essential part of the human experience.
And for a good chunk of humans, that's something they have the freedom to explore, learning about what they wish and what makes them feel whole as a person. What is it that you enjoy? What do you not enjoy? Do you want to pursue sexual satisfaction? Do you want to save it for someone that you feel is special? Do you feel your heart beat towards one person but you feel a burning inside towards another? Does it not interest you at all and it's just another part of your body's upkeep? Or etc, etc.
It's not universal, unfortunately, but ideally that's given to them by default. People given this have the freedom to explore how it defines them as a person.
Robots, well...don't have this by default. Your vacuum cleaner doesn't have a dick. It can't explore that. And that's okay, it's not human. It doesn't need to explore that.
But what if it did? What if we wanted it to be more human?
Now we're getting into some potentially very-horrifying territory.
The robots in the Mega Man world are not self-aware, not until the X timeline. The Archie comics struggled with this a bit, but generally speaking that's the big divide--until the X series, robots cannot make their own decisions. If you are building a robot, be it a Master or another kind, and you start installing naughty bits onto it, you are intentionally putting your choices onto another being.
Likewise, Robot Masters personalities have to be programmed. You can't just type install_Personality(); into the command line prompt--machines cannot do things by themselves. Machines must be specifically made to consider if X, then Y. If this, then that. If you make a machine to count from 1 to 10, and then ask it what goes past 10, it will not know what the fuck an 11 is. It has no concept of anything past ten. Maybe a 101? Going up to 1010. Then after that is 10101? The existence of an 11 must be explicitly defined by a creator. If you make a machine to catalogue a list of aquatic animals, you need to have a defined database of animals to sort through as "aquatic" and "not aquatic".
This is supported in canon by the existence of the IC chip, the Integrated Circuit--where everything that makes a Robot Master them, a dedicated storage house for all of their thought processes, considerations, and clauses to run through when making decisions. Even if we consider that the Megaman world runs on fucking wizardtech and it's possible that there's generative AI processes that theoretically allow for the generation of new reactions/thoughts/etc on the fly, there has to be a seed for this data to draw new information from in the first place.
This seed has to come from someone. And that someone is defining their thoughts and feelings on sex beforehand. And if that someone defines it as "you like sex, and you like sex with me specifically", that is...
Well, at best, that's an abuse of a power dynamic. When you're responsible for the well-being of another, you are in a favorable position of power that you really shouldn't use for your own satisfaction. Fucking your boss is kinky, but you really shouldn't.
At worst...well. As I mentioned before, this choice isn't universal even among humans. To this day, we have people being being forced to live lives that they don't want, and to be with and do things with people they don't want to.
There's ethical ways to handle this. It's possible to have a very in-depth exploration of the different roles, kinds, and ideas of sex and start setting up databases of those--attempt to give a neutral presentation. But what is neutral? Even nowadays, people argue about what's good and what's not good, don't they? When I wrote just one paragraph earlier "Fucking your boss is kinky, but you really shouldn't do it", I can guarantee you there are at least two readers--one that was nodding because they think it's morally wrong to do so and another who's thinking "But it doesn't really hurt anyone...and it'd be really hot for me and the boss". And that's one of the most plain vanilla kinks out there--but even on something as plain vanilla as that, the creator's own thoughts would influence the thoughts they inscribe into the machine. And the machine, in turn would use that thought as a basis to expand on their own thoughts.
We know the vacuum cleaner really is into sucking. But does it suck because it likes to suck, or because it was programmed to like sucking, or because it was told to suck and that's an extrapolation of performing its function (which is the natural job of a machine)? Now it's all existential and shit.
The only way to completely bypass this would be through self-aware, free-thinking machines--machines that develop themselves and do things outside of the limitations of their programming. Which we have, in canon! Reploids! From Mega Man X! Surely they would be the fuckable ones, right?
Well, yeah. They are.
I'm sure once I get back in-character and we hit the X series, Stop Man will be sputtering about how you can't fuck them because that's how he is. Or maybe I'll have a Reploid character who does that, I dunno. But if the theme of the Classic world is one of the relation between the robot and the roboticist, the theme of the X world is one of choice. They would not be restrained by the nature of what they've been programmed with--they can choose what they want to do.
But that also comes with its own consequences.
The Mega Man X world is very fascinating to me because it (very lightly) brushes against a narrative theme that I've always found tantalizing in classic literature; accepting the beauty of free will also means accepting the frustrations of free will. If you let people make their own choices, that also means that some people will not agree on what the right thing is--or worse, will intentionally not choose the right thing. If we create a new race of superpowered beings to aid us, and they decide not to aid us but instead to hurt us, how do we handle that? Do we try and suppress what made them different for our own protection? Do we roll over and let them kick us and take it for the sake of societal progress? Do we try to establish a set of guidelines to follow and systems to help maintain order? At which point, how much order is too much order? Etc, etc.
It's all very Asimovian and shit, which is appropriate since the series is founded on the Asimov laws. But the point of the laws in Asimov's stories WAS THAT THEY DIDN'T WORK! The X series is written with all the narrative skill of a ferret let loose across a series of typewriters, and hoooooooly shit does the Zero series handle it even worse.
But it's there. Robot are built, they're put off the assembly line, and they have a choice; they can choose what they like, what they don't like, what they want to do, who they want to do it with, and more. But as a result of their sexual liberation, they end up wrestling with a lot more in society as a result.
X is really struggling with the Dick of Damocles, there.

AstroAnt (2025) by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Castrol. The AstroAnt payload will not now see the light of the lunar day as the Athena lander that arrived at the south polar region of the Moon on March 6, 2025 is now "declared dead", unable to recharge its batteries. This micro-rover would not explore the lunar surface, but is instead designed to rove across the surface of the Lunar Outpost MAPP rover, collecting thermal data. The lone AstroAnt is a technology demonstrator, and in future swarms of such ants could be used to monitor spacecraft operations. "The robot will be operating on the top surface of the Lunar Outpost MAPP-1 rover, equipped with a thermopile on its bottom surface for contact-less temperature measurements of the MAPP-1 rover radiator. With mobility in the Lunar gravity environment, the robot can measure temperature from different positions on the radiator and help with monitoring the performance of the thermal system, which is one of the most crucial systems of the rover. Leveraging magnetic wheels, the robot can attach to and move along the top rover surface. Both the robot and central station are equipped with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) capability for wireless data transfer. The AstroAnt will be the first-ever miniature robotic mission on the Lunar surface, gathering data that will inform NASA's Artemis III crewed mission and demonstrating cutting-edge robotic swarms technology for planetary and deep-space exploration."
“Great fleas have little fleas upon their backs to bite 'em, And little fleas have lesser fleas, and so ad infinitum. And the great fleas themselves, in turn, have greater fleas to go on; While these again have greater still, and greater still, and so on.” - A Budget of Paradoxes by Augustus De Morgan (1872).

Let's see what Clover did (yeah i had to play the whole game again):
Decided to find out what happened to the five missing children and bring them home to the surface
Complimented Froggit
Comforted Flier
Distracted Penilla from drawing so she could take a break
Left the exact amount of money on the lemonade stand despite there being no attendance to take it
Gave Sweet Corn a hug
Helped Rorrim fulfill his purpose (make others not criticize how they look)
Respected Decibat's need for silence
Joined Crispy Scroll's excited yelling over anime so he wouldn't feel lonely
Complimented Micro Froggit
Played count the dust with the dust bunny monster
Didn't disturb Decibat while he was asleep
Even when helpless and wrongfully attacked, decided to befriend Dalv, thus causing him to give up on his lonely lifestyle and start making friends
Because the monsters in the Ruins finally got to go outside, all this happened: 1) Sweet Corn got to open a free hugs booth 2) Penilla got to draw things outside of the Ruins, see the big corn cob picture she made for Dalv, and realize that she and Dalv ARE friends 3) Crispy Scroll got to go to the dump and find more anime tapes 4) Flier could learn new dance moves and (maybe) buy a beach house 5) Rorrim could go on adventures
Took their time to get to know Dalv and explore his house
Didn't invade Pops' privacy and waved at him before closing the wardrobe
Danced with Frostermit and got it out of its shell (literally and metaphorically)
Put Insomnitot to sleep
Ended up buying Mo's poor quality products because they knew he was struggling financially x1
Patiently explained the dangers of an open fire to Know Cone
Believed that the remnants of the snowman were full of potential for new life
Played a game with the Shufflers and became their friend
Got the Honeydew Resort band to play that furry monster's favorite song
Found one monster's mitten
Got another monster a coffee and matches so they wouldn't freeze
Found a map for the lost tourists
Freed Slurpy from the pole
Spent time chatting with the Honeydew Resort shopkeeper and learned more about Dalv, who ended up fulfilling his dream of having an organ concert in the end credits
Got Trihecta to split up and literally and metaphorically get off each other's backs so all three could be who they wanted to be individually
Begrudgingly insulted Martlet so they could spare her
Forgave Martlet for fighting them and trusted her to keep them safe
Gave Martlet the highest scores on her questionnaire
Pat Dunebud
Ended up buying Mo's poor quality products because they knew he was struggling financially x2
Made Cactony feel love for the first time
Fixed the elevator in the mines
Helped Bowll put his guard down and discover his true self
Found the mine worker's hat, causing him to get a promotion in the end credits
Did their best to dance with El Bailador despite being bad at it
Sat next to Kanako's friend on the swing
Told Violetta she had nothing to fear
Forgave Martlet for abandoning them
Saw potential in the sapling to grow into something beautiful
Hung out with Starlo and the Feisty Five despite the gang kidnapping them
Was worried about what was bothering Ceroba while she was checking out Starlo's movies that Kanako used to watch with him
Proved to Blackjack that humans can be good
Didn't attack the FF even though they unfairly ganged up on them
Even though they were unfairly attacked by Starlo, they surrendered to him
Didn't make fun of Starlo's true face
Didn't get upset with Martlet for yet again abandoning them
Cleaned Jandroid
Helped Goosic produce music that's actually pleasant to listen to
Ended up buying Mo's poor quality products because they knew he was struggling financially x3
Calmed Guardener down to the point she stopped attacking them and Ceroba
Helped Telly-Vis work together
Calmed Ceroba down while she was yelling at the Steamworks robot
Spared Axis, knowing that he was the last thing left of Chujin, and trusted Ceroba with her plan
Overall took their time to talk to everyone they met so they could understand their situation
Changed Martlet's entire perspective on humans
Tried to understand the deeper reason as to why Ceroba was doing what she was doing, hugged her and forgave her
Decided not to hide underground and willingly sacrificed their SOUL for monsterkind even after being hurt, attacked, and killed so many times (also during the 100+ runs)
Knew the sacrifice might mean nothing but went along with their decision anyway and put faith in whoever would come after them
Waited for their friends to leave before they died, in a lot of pain
Before that reassured Ceroba they'd be okay so she'd be at least a bit comforted
Delivered true JUSTICE

Headcanons for the 'Dib has a best friend that believes Zim is an alien' AU:
*Dib's BFF is calmer, sometimes sarcastic and more down-to-earth than Dib is.
*Dib's BFF believes in aliens and the supernatural like Dib does, but he's not as loud about as Dib.
*Dib's BFF is an outcast like Dib and Zim, but unlike Dib and Zim who get mocked by the other kids, the BFF gets constantly ignored and forgotten by them (much to his frustration).
*Professor Membrane and Mrs. Bitters also sometimes forgets about the existence of Dib's BFF.
*Gaz respects Dib's BFF more than Dib and Zim, but only slightly.
*Zim constantly underestimates Dib's BFF.
*Dib's BFF actually becomes friends with Gir and later Skoodge.
*The BFF was sick when Zim first arrived, so he doesn't meet Zim until after episode 1.
*In the 2nd episode, the BFF immediately knows that Zim is an alien, but tells Dib that they're might be a chance that Zim isn't an evil alien.
*So when they go to spy on Zim, they see him replace Keef's eyes with hypnotic robot eyes and Dib goes 'I told you so'.
*The BFF is by Dib's side for most of the battles against Zim.
*Although sometimes the BFF helps out in other ways, like when Zim is replacing organs, the BFF runs away from the school to call 911 (since the kids won't survive long without their organs while Dib tries to stop Zim... Or during the hypnotic pimple episode, the BFF tries to convince Dib to find something sharp first to pop Zim's pimple, but Dib got impatient; so the BFF had to wear a blindfold and pop Zim's pimple with a super sharp pencil... Or the episode where micro-Zim is trying to destroy Dib's memories, the BFF is trying to battle Zim's tiny robot to save Dib (in this AU, Zim keeps Dib's arms frozen after destroying the evidence), but the BFF fails and lets Gaz take over.
*In the planet battle episode, the BFF is by Dib's side and tries to battle Gir... In the episode where Zim controls the Tallest's ship, the BFF can only watch nervously as Dib uses Tak's ship to hack Zim's base... In the episode with Tak, the BFF gains a crush on Tak, but it stops after learning she's an irken (although Dib and Gaz playfully tease him about it).
*When Dib and his BFF meet the Tallest through Zim's alien TV, the BFF helps Dib get information about irkens, by complimenting the Tallest into giving them the information.
*During the florpus event, the Membrane Family and Dib's BFF help take down Zim together.

Something original I made in Canva
Unlike other artworks I create which tend to take 2+ days due to procrastination, I finished this thing today lmao
Ironically enough I made this because I had the thought of reader in SAGAU being a giant mech instead of being in a divine/human body (I'm not the first to come up with the idea of reader being a machine though, see these posts here and here)
Now I'm gonna ramble about this guy's features and what he is because it's wack as hell and I like it (do be warned though, this thing is massively futuristic and some things may not make sense when trying to interpret them to real life)
This mech is a mobile factory; the two boxes up front contain microscopic synthesizers that obtain material from the rear compartment (which also houses the engine and CPU; it's technically a robot but I called it a mech because it's huge compared to a human). Then, its synthesizers procure parts for whatever it seeks to construct.
Some examples of commonly constructed items are more micro-drones, parts for repairing itself, tanks, and small aircraft.
The mech also contains an entourage of micro-drones (think like 1/10th the size of your palm) in its rear compartment, and they can haul objects 100x their size allowing them to assemble whatever the two boxes procure.
The machine's only self-defense is its singular 30mm autocannon on the bottom against ground targets and an AK-caliber anti-aircraft gun for the weakest air targets. Most of its defensive firepower must come from the units it produces. Thankfully, it builds mobile armies very fast.
It can also power up a defensive energy shield if need be, but this diverts power away from its legs and guns to do so.
To obtain material, its micro-drones can also salvage scrap metal and other materials which the mech stores in its rear compartment.

If you just landed here, you should be warned about what to expect from this account. Mostly Gundam stuff since as of writing, I've decided to watch every animated thing that came out of it and document my feelings on each of them in excruciating detail. For some reason. I just wanna know if it'll work!
The Monolith!
A massive perpendicular structure - 1 meter deep, 4 meters wide, 9 meters tall - with a perfect 81 centimeter diameter circle cut, with its center 64 centimeters from the top.
Naomi Glasnikova was grinning like mad. She couldn't figure out where to put squares of 4, 5, 6, or 7 in the design without overcomplicating things, so decided to just forego them. It'll be fine, she's sure everything will work out just as planned.
What is the plan, her fellow scientists from the Coalition species ask? To see if placing ominous black metal alloy structures around a planet with primitive lifeforms will make their brains go "Oh, this is different, I should... *think* about it. Yes. Thinking is a thing I can do now. Thus, with the power of thoughts I can look at other things and go "Oh, what if I did this!" and make myself evolve into a civilization (once I figure out how to come up with prerequisite concepts)."
Is the inner dialogue Naomi was having. Her colleagues, both Human and Alien alike, had long abandoned the idea of trying to talk to her about her projects. She would just get into this deep staredown with you while simultaneously not paying any attention to your existence. Her mind begins to race with the possibilities, the what ifs, who dunnits, why nots, etc., and after a few minutes of complete stillness she would suddenly rush out, writing furiously on her digi-pad, often bumping into chairs, tables, walls, other people, one time she almost vented herself from the station. They put a micro-tag on her pad that would wirelessly turn off nearby lights at any intersections that didn't lead to her office. She subconsciously veers toward bright lights.
This latest monolith project came about after one of her equally eccentric interns (nobody knows where they come from, she just seems to naturally attract ones with similar brainwaves or something) showed her an ancient fictional documentary about possible technological developments in the early 21st century. The image of this simpler monolith instantly embedded itself into her mind.
WAIT! I've got it! Four groups of monoliths arranged in different patterns. The group of 16 will make a perfect square. 25 a star. 36 a hexagon, and 49 a... hmm heptagon would be too similar, and it doesn't look right no matter how you shape it.... hrrnnn No wait, a seven layer circle! One in the center, fourteen in the outermost and the rest... I'll do the math later. The areas will need to be perfectly cleared and flat too. Oh! Line patterns on the ground itself. Ones that show core scientific truths! One of the primitives will surely one day follow the lines and map them out either in its brain or on a simple data recording apparatus and see Science! They'll be so stunned! Gotta write that down, get one of the helpful people (her interns, whose names or faces she doesn't even know, yet they don't care either. Look, it's weird, but their kind of non-relationship works out somehow) to begin production. They will need to be made of non-corrosive alloys, of course. Each with a different core metal though. But then the color might change. No paint, that is an unnecessary element. Hmm... Evolution will take millennia, hopefully a few less with my help.
Last month her focus was on making a fully transparent species of frogs to see whether they would go extinct due to being unable to see their partners, or overrun the ecosystem. Nobody has seen the results of that yet.
We also don't know what she's actually a PhD of. Her diploma just says applied robotics, and it is a legit diploma from the Henderson University of Greater Estonia. But her published thesis is on viral infection vectors in sub-tropical moths. We thought she might be a fraud, but the science checks out in whatever she has put out so far. Whatever she is, she is allowed to do whatever she wants. Like most scientists out on these stations now that I think about it.
What are we even doing here, other than... Science?
Mmmm, fuck it, unlimited funding. Let's go!

It works!*
So I (FINALLY) put the final touches on the software for my robot PROTO! (Listen, I am a software person, not a coming-up-with-names person)
Basically, it is a ESP32 running him. He takes HTTP messages. Either GET odometry, or PUT twist. Both just being a string containing comma separated numbers
Odometry is the robots best guess based on internal sensors where it is (Since PROTO uses stepper motors, which rotates in tiny tiny steps... it is basically counting the steps each motor takes)
Twist is speed, both in x,y and z directions, and speed in angular directions (pitch, roll and yaw). This is used to tell the robot how to move
Now, since PROTO is a robot on two wheels, with a third free-running ball ahead of him, he cannot slide to the side, or go straight up in the air. You can TRY telling him to do that, but he will not understand what you mean. Same with angular movement. PROTO can turn left or right, but he have no clue what you mean if you tell him to bend forward, or roll over.
The software is layered (Which I use a BDD diagram to plan. I love diagrams!)
Basically PROTO gets a twist command and hands that over to the Differential_Movement_Model layer.
The Differential_Movement_Model layer translate that to linear momentum (how much to move forward and backwards) and angular momentum (how much to turn left or right). combines them, and orders each wheel to move so and so fast via the Stepper_Motors layer.
The Stepper_Motors turns the wanted speed, into how many steps each stepper motor will have to do per second, and makes sure that the wanted speed can be achieved by the motors. It also makes sure that the wheels turn the right way, no matter how they are mounted (In PROTO's case, if both wheels turn clockwise, the right wheel is going forward, and the left backwards.). It then sends this steps per second request down to the Peripheral_Hub layer.
The Peripheral_Hub layer is just a hub... as the name implies, it calls the needed driver functions to turn off/on pins, have timers count steps and run a PWM (Pulse-width modulation. It sends pulses of a particular size at a specific frequency) signal to the driver boards.
Layering it, also means it is a lot easer to test a layer. Basically, if I want to test, I change 1 variable in the build files and a mock layer is build underneath whatever layer I want to test.
So if I want to test the Stepper_Motors layer, I have a mock Peripheral_Hub layer, so if there are errors in the Peripheral_Hub layer, these do not show up when I am testing the stepper motor layer.
The HTTP server part is basically a standard ESP32 example server, where I have removed all the HTTP call handlers, and made my own 2 instead. Done done.
So since the software works... of course I am immediately having hardware problems. The stepper motors are not NEARLY as strong as they need to be... have to figure something out... maybe they are not getting the power they need... or I need smaller wheels... or I will have to buy a gearbox to make them slower but stronger... in which case I should proberbly also fix the freaking cannot-change-the-micro-stepping problem with the driver boards, since otherwise PROTO will go from a max speed of 0.3 meters per second, to most likely 0.06 meters per second which... is... a bit slow...
But software works! And PROTO can happily move his wheels and pretend he is driving somewhere when on his maintenance stand (Yes. it LOOKS like 2 empty cardboard boxes, but I am telling you it is a maintenance stand... since it sounds a lot better :p )
I have gone over everything really quickly in this post... if someone wants me to cover a part of PROTO, just comment which one, and I will most likely do it (I have lost all sense of which parts of this project is interesting to people who are not doing the project)

スブロサ - SUBROSA
youtube
This was one of the few album tracks that was legally previewable before the album launch, and even just from a brief SMS snippet, it was clear that this was metal-banging Industrial EBM at its finest. The prowling panther beat of Yuta’s hip-hop bass plays off a sproingy synth-bass lick, the backbone of the 80s Industrial sound*. Endlessly repeating, weird electronic squiggles of sound are run through heavy filters to emulate robotic chatter. It even features a mentasm Hoover Synth. And, of course, the Aphex Twin-pioneered micro-edited, infinitely fast snarerushes and LFO-twiddling that seem to collapse the song into itself during the breaks.
*There’s some controversy as to the original of this tone: depending on who you ask, it was invented by either NU Unruh hammering a giant spring with Einstuerzende Neubauten (the ‘Bassfeder’ comes in about 0:17); or Chrislo Haas’ analogue synth work, as one of the founders of DAF, a band whose aggressive minimalism would become the blueprint for the European EDM sound.

Yokoyama-san’s working notes on the track reveal the incredibly complex editing work, like an auditory jigsaw puzzle. (The track names are incredible: "Dissonance Progress"; "Pitch Black Night"; "Future Breaks"!) You can see the beats double, quadruple, multiply exponentially as the cuts become smaller and denser. The stereo manipulation is mindblowing - truly a song made for headphones! - as sounds flicker and skitter and pan in every direction. He said that Imai “insisted on leaving out his guitar (even though the guitar can still be heard)”. £5 reward to anyone who can spot any guitar on the track!
Imai also revealed in an interview, that this song was originally written during the Izora sessions, and rewritten for Subrosa. Imai’s playful raps and dizzying flow are so perfect for the song’s swaggering attitude that I can’t imagine how Sakurai would have sung it. I fear it might have become something in a playful, slightly silly vein a la Gustave. (I love Gustave as much as anyone, but it has a very different atmosphere.) But instead, Imai created a blueprint for a far more dance-oriented, synthesiser-based B-T Mk II. Vocals here are just another instrument: more of a rhythmic element than a melodic one; a background textural element to provide colour, rather than the main figure of the foreground.
Favourite moments: oh, there are just too many to count. Maybe the very end of the ecstatic drop, where the Jungle beats from 2:20 give way to the scratched (phased out? Leslie-speakered?) vocals coming in at 2:34. Very Beastie Boys – memories of my first time hearing their mixture of acid rock and hip-hop on Check Your Head in pot-scented student digs in New York. Can you imagine the stereophonic fun they could have with a pair of these babies?
The NOIZE solos at 3:11 and 3:27 (these would sound great live on a theremin, Mr. Imai, hint hint!) The stereo-panned sawtooth tremolo synth that comes in during the very last verse (starting at about 4:05) like a flash forward to the extreme noise-gating of Muyubyo’s guitars? It’s the tiny sonic details that make Buck-Tick so moreish – I’ve listened to this song dozens of times and on each deep listen, I catch another tiny sound I hadn’t noticed before. (I just caught a tiny stereo twitch in the synths at 1:58!) It works as a pop song – the irresistible panther rhythm and the strutting vocals drive it along with charismatic velocity – but the detail and complexity of the soundscape is like the whirling, ornate pattern of a Persian carpet you can lose yourself in forever.

▪️ Wed night - ISRAEL REALTIME - Connecting to Israel in Realtime
▪️GPS JAMMING - CENTRAL ISRAEL.. residents of the center report inaccurate GPS responses - GPS jamming likely active. Make sure rocket alert apps are set to a specific city instead of “current location”.
▪️US DEPLOYS C-RAM.. anti-aircraft / drone / missile system, on the floating pier in Gaza right next to the shore. (( Next to, not on, so no “boots on the ground”. ))
▪️THREE HERO SOLDIERS HAVE FALLEN.. Israel Yodkin, 22, from Kfar Chabad. Gideon Chai, 33, from Tel Aviv. Eliyahu Hair Emsallem, 21, from Ra’anana. All in battle in Gaza. May their families be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem, and may G-d AVENGE THEIR BLOOD!
▪️PM SAYS.. "The intention of several European countries to recognize a Palestinian state is a reward for terrorism. 80% of the Palestinians in Judea and Samaria support the terrible massacre of October 7.
This evil must not be given a country. This will be a terrorist state, it will try to repeatedly carry out the massacre of October 7, and we will not agree to that.
A prize for terrorism will not bring peace - and it will not stop us from defeating Hamas either.”
▪️IDF MICRO SUICIDE DRONES? Al Jazeera: From videos that have come to us, it appears that the IDF used booby-trapped robots in an operation in Jabaliya . The robots were used to attack military operatives and blow up buildings. (( Suicide drones for thee but not for me? ))
▪️PROTESTS.. Demonstrators for the return of the hostages are blocking Derech Begin in Tel Aviv. Thousands. Another protest at Karakul junction - a hundred - blocking 1 direction.
♦️COUNTER-TERROR IN JENIN.. continues. A terrorist was eliminated a short time ago in the camp, 9 terrorists were eliminated since the beginning of the activity.
♦️RAFAH.. The IDF is advancing in Rafah: IDF forces are on the outskirts of the Yavna camp in the center of Rafah - intense fighting is going on, "the Israeli fire did not stop all night," said one of the residents - "the tanks advanced under heavy fire.”
