The gist is this:

Mitch (our Gordon-inspired protag of the story) is a 25-ish guy who hasn’t seen his friends and hasn’t been doing well for a WHILE. Mitch was followed home by an entity and is paranoid he’ll die if he leaves his apartment. He and his three friends (Mill, Tex, and Laís) decide to play a video game and chat to take their mind off of it and reconnect.

They play a Half-Life 1 inspired game entitled “Epicenter” and pick characters from the 4 unique classes they offer (soldier, security officer, CIA agent, or scientist). It is all dandy until the game starts glitching. Instead of a resonance cascade inside the game’s plot, it’s more like the entity that followed Mitch home caused a resonance cascade to the game as a whole and utterly fucks it up! Also, Mitch and his friends are transported into the game. They’re all stuck in the game with mild amnesia and tasked with getting to the end. A 5th player appears to be there too… The cast fill out the class roles they picked at the start, which forces the cast into a tense alliance as they stick together through the science facility. Through near-death experiences and one on one moments, the friends slowly piece together what happened to them and how they knew each other before shit hit the fan. They also piece together that the 5th player, Baxter, isn’t one of them… 👻 ohhh scary

The story is a WIP and I don’t intend it to be anything fancy. I just like Half-Life and I can appreciate the foundations of HLVRAI. I wanted this story to be something for me to chew on while I’m fixated on HL.

9/11 facts

There are a few photographs of inside the twin towers during 9/11. The only video recording of inside the towers comes from the North Tower lobby. It can be seen in the documentary '9/11' by the Naudet Brothers. They were originally filming a documentary about New York firefighters. It also contains the recording of Flight 11 crashing into the North Tower. (source 1) (source 2) (source 3. video of the crash)

There were several phone calls made on 9/11, though few have had their audio released. One from victim Peter Hanson to his father described people vomiting. The most famous released call is from Kevin Cosgrove. Cosgrove was the vice president of the Aon corporation. (source 1) (source 2)

Christine Lee Hanson, daughter of Peter and Sue Kim Hanson, was the youngest victim of 9/11 at 2 years old. She and her parents were going to Disneyland. (source)

The oldest person to die on 9/11 was Robert Norton, aged 85. He was a retired marine. Norton and his wife were about flight 11. (source. under 'fatalities' catagory.)

In many pictures of the North Tower impact hole, a waving woman (and sometimes a man) can be see. Many believe her to be Edna Cintron, who worked at Marsh McLennan. But a theory points out evidence that she was likely Jeannette Lafond-Menichino, who worked at Guy Carpenter on the 94th floor. Edna worked the 97th floor of the North Tower, from which there were no survivors. (source)

No jumper has ever been officially identified, but some, such as Falling Man, have been "identified" by their families. "we're going to borealis" bothers the fuck out of me still because man. just leave Mitch alone. man has been Through It. he's tired as fuck and his face is fucked up and everyone makes fun of him.

all this and also I had like. a spiritual experience playing it. the enemy placement and level design are such trash to go through that by the time I hit black mesa east I was right there with Mitch projecting my shit onto him, pushing through, no matter what, and at the final standoff I really gave it my all. I will live despite everything. fuck you.

I was heavily inspired by @creepercraftguy's headcanons on voices for the Danganronpa Another cast so I caved and did my own as well. Personality: Usually quite energetic but along with this he is also very jumpy and will react startled to the slightest movements and sounds, including ones in his head(hallucinations). While much more social compared to his siblings, he quite often struggles to communicate or connect with others, along with being very self-conscious of his face due to the severe scaring and hole in his lip(it is practically still fresh since well.. stuck in the void with no time), for this he continues to wear his gas mask whenever he's out (not really realizing the gas mask is definitely way scarier). He's quite friendly for a scary looking former-marine and has a fascination with alien creatures (he even has pet ones!). He's prone to panic attacks thanks to the lasting trauma left by Black Mesa, and his schizophrenia, he often seems paranoid or on-edge, checking around his shoulders as if something's watching him. Some days he can barely make himself speak and use ASL instead because he still struggles to process everything that has happened (G-Man appearing, Black Mesa Incident, 20 years in a void, Ravenholm, etc.).

Personality: Alice is very loyal to her job and the Combine, she does not like people who complain and definitely doesn't like people who rebel. She's extremely anti-social, she will almost only talk to people if it's for work purposes, she's known by her co-workers for being very strict when she's in charge and will not hesitate to punish anyone who doesn't follow orders. She acts very cold, nearly emotionless or robotic if she didn't have a short-temper.

But when she can hold in her rage, she takes it out during work against pesky rebels and unruly citizens where she's extremely violent and will kill them whether they deserve it or not (unless instructed by her superiors not to).

She suffers from self-esteem and abandonment issues caused by her family.

Before the resonance cascade, she loved art like drawing, painting, and writing, she was a major bookworm, she could play the piano but she always wanted to be something strong like her brothers were and hated her parents degraded them whenever they were talked about and tried to discourage her from admiring them.

It is that time again when I think about Let's Not! Hunt Down the Freeman and try to coherent some thoughts about it.

Anyways. While I really do like the whole "this story is one big revenge plot" and I think the final scene with Adam is great and honestly a good sum up of Mitchell's character. But what if he didn't kill Adam. He can still do his monologue and hit him a few times but not kill him. Because he's changed. And he doesn't want to sink back to the level he started at, this hateful thing that wanted nothing more than to hurt like he had been hurt, but he's changed. War isn't fun, he's learned that. He's seen some things that have really upset him, he's been cheated and lied to but he's seen anger and violence just...isn't what he wants anymore. And Adam isn't even worth spilling blood over! Yes, he's mad, but he's not gonna kill a guy about all this. He's actually better than that now.

There's also just a bit of guilt because he can guess that Adam was manipulated by TBF (disguised as EG of course) and he can't in good conscience kill a guy who just got tricked. While it sure is partially his fault (Adam didn't have to backstab Mitchell, at that point he could have said no) but he still feels bad. So there's that too.

THAT IS ACTUALLY A VERY GOOD CONCLUSION FOR LN!MITCH’S ARC HOLY SPARKLES.
