if they're going to do potato sinks, I wish they'd do a handful of big potato sinks like 500kp clothes or pets or something and stop with making every new piece of content 20-50kp. the former is a status symbol to get money out of the actually potato rich players and the latter is just a drain on everyone, including people who don't have access to FR gems and turnips and their own custom to sell for 300kp a pop.

Favorite and least favorite Mario game? 👐🏾

If Luigi's Mansion 1 counts as a Mario game, then that's my fave. If not, then it's a tie between Mario 64 and Sunshine.

Least fave? I don't know.. I don't really have one.

If I had to put one there, I guess Super Mario World, because it forever taunted me in the Mystery Forest of Illusion. I couldn't get past it as a child. It's where you had to find the secret exits, and I had zero clue on what to do. I thought my game was broken. xD

Just recently I finally beat it and put that old ghost of mine to rest.

Bowser Jr

The most "canon" answer to who his second parent is is a joke by Shigeru Miyamoto where he claimed he himself was Junior's 'mother'. There's also a theory that koopas reproduce asexually. In either of those scenarios, Junior qualifies for the birth parent clause.

Additionally, it's suggested koopas hatch from eggs so that's unconventional birth clause, too.

Bowser Jr. is very difficult for us to quantify. He clearly doesn't apply for Gender Clause under our rules, but the other categories are hard to nail down.

For Birth Parent Clause, while either method you mentioned would work, neither is canon to the Mario Bros. series (Miyamoto's comment is a joke and asexual reproduction is a fan theory), so neither of them count for our analysis. In Super Mario Sunshine, Bowser Jr. goes through the game believing that Peach is his mother, though it's later revealed that this isn't the case and Bowser lied to him about this, so that doesn't really give us any info. Developers of the series have stated that "we don't know who the mother is," which could imply that there IS a mother that we just don't know about. Since this could go either way, we can't definitively answer BPC here, unfortunately.

As for Unconventional Birth Clause, I looked into what you said about Koopas hatching from eggs, and the research was... very confusing. The main problem here for us is what exactly we mean by "Koopa." According to the fanmade Mario Wiki, there are Koopas (Bowser, Bowser Jr., etc.), Koopas (a shorthand term for Koopa Troopas), and Koopas (an umbrella term encompassing both the previous groups and several others, with some more as potential but unproven relatives to the species).

While Koopas and Koopas are both notably reptilian in appearance, there doesn't seem to be much to go off of for either of them when it comes to how they reproduce. From what I've found, I don't think we've ever seen a Koopa or Koopa egg in any canonical material.

When it comes to Koopas, what does and does not count as a Koopa is at least somewhat established, but there are still a few outliers where it is unclear whether or not they count, most notably Yoshi. If there was definite proof that 1.) Koopas, including Koopas, are all members of the same species and reproduce in the same way, and 2.) Yoshi is a Koopa, then we could say for sure that Koopas, Koopas, Koopas, and by extension Bowser Jr. are born from eggs, just as Yoshi is. But neither of these points are provable.

There is, however, one enemy in the Mario franchise that seems to canonically be considered a Koopa, and that we have definitively seen are born from eggs: Spinies. The Lakitu enemy is known throughout the series to throw what have been referred to as "Spiny Eggs," which will become another enemy called a Spiny upon hitting the ground. So, at least one member of the Koopa family is born from eggs, so it's plausible that other members of the Koopa family, such as Koopas, would as well.

While it is still possible that not all members of the Koopa family reproduce via eggs in the same way as Spinies do, I'm more willing to count this than I am anything for BPC. So:

TL;DR:

Tentatively, yes, Bowser Jr. from the Super Mario series could kill Macbeth under the Unconventional Birth Clause.

You mean the hotel podium that was released before BV?

I'm afraid it'd take more than just my humble coding skills to update said podium to have all the BV features like tours, room service, travel companions etc. for non-playables, since these are all very much tailored to a playable family.

Other huge mods like playable schools, college classes, prisons, daycares, hospitals... they've all been done and they work, but compared to these other mods I mentioned that mainly just spawn playables or non-playables over and make them interact in certain things and slap some text adventures on - BV holidays are a notch more complex. Maybe it's even impossible to make them work and feel genuine for non-playables - but in today's world I'd never say never.

I apologise for not having a more satisfying answer for you. :(

Dawntrail - Day ∞ (Part 1)

With the MSQ finished, the extra dungeons unlocked and completed. It's time to gather my thoughts before venturing forth. I was going to write one massive post, but I decided to break it up into smaller chunks to make it easier to write.

Before I get stuck into the story and stuff, I really have to commend the FFXIV team for just how smooth this launch has been. Ever since Stormblood expansion launches have ranged from bumpy to a absolute disaster. I think Heavensward was smooth but honestly I don't really recall it. But for Dawntrail sure I got the dreaded 2002 lobby error and then a 1700 player queue on immediate launch, but other than that it's been smooth sailing. Less than 100 people in queue when I log in, and when I was doing a hunt train the other night it was so fucking smooth. Had no issues changing zones to keep up and there was little to no lag even when 400+ players were smacking a single mob. Huge improvement over Endwalker! Especially as I'm on Tonberry, the server that was specifically called out by Yoshi-p for causing issues for the entire Elemental DC.

One of the big selling points in this expansion has been the graphics overhaul and I'm almost ashamed to admit I haven't really noticed anything different other than some of the lighting improvements. For the most part Xio looks the same as she did before the expansion, although with how my mind works I probably just took one look at Dawntrail Xio, deleted all past references, added the new ones and I'm now gaslighting myself into believing it's always been like that. Probably doesn't help that I started the 6.55 MSQ in DT and the first thing I saw a really rough pixelated background texture and just went "They'll get that on the next pass in 9.0 or something".

One thing I do need to call out the devs on is their silence over the Viera & Hrothgar hat issue. Is this issue ever going to be worked on? I naively assumed that after the Shadowbringers release all future gear would be Viera compatible, but I can see that outside of some AF gear the answer is no. Honestly, at this point I just want a yes/no answer if the issue is ever going to be resolved, and a timeline. Like all ARR gear in 7.2, all HW gear in 7.4 or something like that. It's annoying that to wear a basic hat I now have to wait for mod developers to update their tools for DT. (Not complaining about the mod devs, they are doing this for free after all, take your time please, I'm just annoyed at SE)

2. Top 5 games of all time?

A few of the Zelda series could probably make the cut. I go back and forth on Link's Awakening and Majora's Mask for my favorite from that series.

Skyrim modding has eaten months of my life.

Undertale's probably up there

Fuga: Melodies of Steel (and its sequel; they're more like episodes of one game than two standalone games) might take a spot, but it might be a honeymoon effect.

There's a few runners up out there like Night in the Woods, Yoshi's Island, La Mulana, Pokémon: Emerald etc. And a few series I really like but can't in good conscience say are my favorite (Sony's Horizon comes to mind).

But I think of games that I associate with myself maybe the number 5 spot should go to Yu-Gi-Oh: The Sacred Cards. More as a representative of the Yu-Gi-Oh series as a whole and that unspeakable time I tried to become a let's player. Plus it's just a weird unbalanced game.

9. Most hours you've put into a single game?

Easily skyrim, caveat: much of that time is just turning on the game, cocing (using the console to warp without loading a save game) into riverwood, and sprinting to whiterun checking for CTDs, or in other words, testing mods to make sure I didn't make the game explode.

If you don't count mod testing, probably OoT 3D rando, usually still bug testing, but actually playing at the same time.

11. Favorite game genre?

Probably action-adventure.

Like I like puzzles and I like pretty/cute worlds to explore. And I like RPG story crafting.

If I'm honest I tend to prefer games that are easy to moderately difficult over hard. I like power fantasies a bit, I guess, and that's best achieved by earning it.

So zelda-likes, open world games, and certain metroidvanias are pretty much my ideal games. Which isn't to say something like really good writing or music can't propel things like Undertale or Fuga into my top games.

38. An unpopular gaming opinion you have.

I've got a few of those, I think.

Paper Mario's decline began with Super Paper Mario, Sticker Star unfairly gets the blame for it. And the mechanics weren't that bad, people just absolutely refused to learn them because they were too upset at it doing SPM things instead of TTYD things. SS is still deeply flawed, I mean, but it's not like "bad sonic game" bad.

Many gamers want to roleplay when playing or just unwind with a comfort game and not everyone games for the feeling of overcoming shit. And that's entirely valid. But they can be a kind of competing access need: there are kids who need absolute silence to focus on a test, and there are kids who need noise to drown out distractions; both kids are valid, but their needs are antagonistic. If you take the games of gamers who want accomplishment and put easy modes in, often you make more work for devs who have to rebalance the game around both modes. Or, like the more action adventure open world gameplay you inject in the Elder Scrolls, the less of a difficult Table Top traditional/chance and skill check kind of RPG there is for the Morrowind and earlier fans who loved the series for those elements. Likewise, taking someone's animal crossing and adding soulsbourne mechanics to it would change that kind of game entirely. I'm not sure that the answer is "put an easy mode in dark souls" or "don't put an easy mode in dark souls". I don't know what the answer really is but I'm not cleanly on either side of that argument.

I'm starting to be one of those "actually graphics matters" guys. I can't really easily play switch games anymore, it's insane. Aliasing and blur feels like visual noise (unlike texture) and makes me feel tired/annoyed. Plus, like, too much pop in or flickering gives me headaches; I had to drop Legends: Arceus because it made my head hurt. And I notice low framerates now, and it hurts similarly to pop in. Fwiw I think a lot of it's also COVID related; my family used to travel a ton, but now the easiest ways for me to get my "green fix" is a game like Skyrim, BotW, or Horizon: Forbidden West. And I guess playing higher framerate games has just trained my brain to vibe that fast.

Trainers, mods, cheat codes are, so long as it's only used in single player content, cool and great. They do not change level design. If it's hard to set up, then it's a reward for being smart enough to set up, no different than writing down information on a piece of paper to solve a game's puzzle. They're good things.

Name: Podoboo

Debut: Super Mario Bros.

Before I start this post, I’d like to clear something up. Podoboo? Yes, Podoboo! I’m well aware these enemies are often called Lava Bubbles and that’s the name Nintendo has been trying to make standardised these days, but you know what? You can’t make me! Podoboo is a lot cuter, plus its the name I grew up with and changes in society scare me and cause me to lash out! Maybe Lava Bubble is closer to the Japanese name of just “Bubble”, but since when has that been a factor in any of the localised names? Do you really want to refer as Lakitu as “Jugemu”, huh? I’ll have you know one of my civil rights as a citizen of Wet Dry World is to refer to Mario enemies with whichever official name I please. Like it or leave it!

So this is a post about Podoboo. Do you like Podoboo? I certainly Podo-do! They are perhaps the most generic design you could give to a Mario enemy, a visibly Dangerous Thing with two eyes, but they have always charmed me! It’s the little things, like their distinct shape and the fact their pupils are somewhat wider than most obstacles like this. They bring me comfort in dire times. No matter what happens, I know Podoboo will be there, jumping at a set height in a particular spot of lava! Without them I would be nothing! 

So simple is their design, isn’t it weird to think they started off as even simpler? The Podoboos in the first SMB game are completely blind, and with no eyes they may as well not be creatures at all! Of course, I’m very glad they are creatures, and their iconic behaviour was there from the start! They love to jump, of course! There is nothing they would rather be doing!

Awaken! As of Super Mario World, they have been gifted sight and are no longer blind to the sins of this world! Hurray! What do you think they see as they jump up and down? I’m surprised it doesn’t make them dizzy!

You’ll be glad to hear Podoboos have had an expansive career ever since, now with their new trademark eyes! After all, they are THE lava enemy! Anywhere you’ve got that tasty hot fire juice, these guys are soon to follow! Here they are in Super Mario RPG, called Sparkies here because they couldn’t make up their minds on a localized name and probably because they confused them with Li’l Sparkies. In Yoshi’s Story they even called them Spark Spooks! Geez, I’ll even take the name Lava Bubble over this! But doesn’t this render look nice and juicy?

Though any great career has its flops, and I have to say... I am usually the first to campaign for the unique designs from the first three Paper Marios, but I do not really like this Lava Bubble! This takes away from their distinct Mario-y charm and makes them look like a Fire Enemy you could find in any other game! Though in the RPGs they are able to float around without needing any lava, the ones in Super Paper Mario act just like the platformer ones, jumping around despite not looking like they should be doing that! Ok!

The Podoboo from New Super Mario Bros. DS just wasn’t trying very hard at all. Come on! They could’ve it a bit more justice than this! 

Ah, there we go! The Podoboos in New Super Mario Bros. Wii decided to finally stop messing about and go back to what everyone loved from them in Super Mario World. I encourage experimenting with your identity, of course, but it’s good to be back, and now they are more mortal than ever! A single shot from an Ice Flower is enough to instantly vaporize a Podoboo in a puff of smoke, which is a bit scary! Are they really just pure fireballs that can be put out just like that? What a frightening life to live!

And in Super Mario Galaxy 2, they... hey, wait!! You took away their eyes again! Now you are just being inconsiderate. This outraged me as a kid! One of my most vivid memories of playing this game with my brother involved chanting “Podoboo rights! They deserve eyes!” because this upset me so much. Maybe my past as an activist is why I am so passionate about Mario enemies these days... I think I was 100 percent correct in hindsight, and now you know some of my backstory, too!

What relief it gave me to find out they were back to their usual selves in 3D Land! And they have been ever since, of course getting redesigned for the modern Paper Mario games and everything. 

What’s this? Blue Podoboos! Podo-blues, even...! They show up in 3D World, in its incredibly cool-looking blue lava levels! It’s a well known fact that blue fire is objectively cooler than red fire, and it seems even the Podoboos wanted in on the action! Blue Lava is an actual phenomenon I’ve just learnt, though it’s a sulfuric fire rather than lava. Could it be that Podoboos, being made entirely of lava, adapt to their environment? I’m not sure...

As an aside, the blue Lava Bubbles aren’t to be confused with Lava Bubble (Blue), which are from Mario Galaxy and show up during King Kaliente’s fight! They hop around on the ground and have square-ish eyes, which is enough to make them different I guess!

The Podoboo’s next big appearance, in Super Mario Odyssey, was in Soup! Yes you heard me- Soup! Some delightfully pepto-bismol pink coloured soup, no less. This is why I wasn’t too sure about Podoboo’s being able to adapt to their environment earlier- the Luncheon Kingdom is a big soup volcano after all, but the fact these Lava Bubbles are able to live in it is very interesting!

There is simply no way I would talk about Odyssey here without talking about possibly its greatest achievement, the best game design decision ever made! After decades of begging from fans, they finally did the impossible- they made Podoboo playable! Now it is Podo-you! It is quite unlike the other captures in the game, since it keeps the Podoboo’s simple-looking eyes and simply adds onto it a nose and a mustache! You may very well be the world’s first Podoboo with a sense of smell! I wonder if that is a benefit or not. The constant smell of soup might be a bit overpowering. 

Not only is this delightful, but it gives us more insight into the life of the humble Podoboo. First of all is the fact that they can swim around in lava, not just jump in one spot! Do you think they do this when we aren’t looking? I really hope so! Imagine a school of Podoboos swimming through molten lava in a castle’s moat. How delightful! 

The Luncheon Kingdom is also home to a number of Lava cannons, marked with a Podoboo’s lovely face. These are cannons for only for Podoboos to launch themselves across the kingdom, from one body of lava to another! My question is whether this was technology made by Podoboos themselves or whether it was made by some generous Podoboo lovers as some lava equivalent to the Fish Tube. I think I would take either explanation! 

And last I have a Podoboo appearance that even I, the world’s biggest Podoboo fan, didn’t know about! Paper Mario Color Splash has a Big Lava Bubble boss which speaks with you through a Shy Guy translator! It is quite upset that you barged into its volcano and decided to change the temperature. Mario, of course, kills it anyway, and also the Shy Guy translator without a second thought.

Still, just take a look at this sprite sheet! How cute! A little disappointing that they thinned out the eyes, but wow! They more than make up for it with this range of expressions! An angry Podoboo! A sad Podoboo! And my personal favorite is of course the shocked Podoboo with its assymetrical dot eyes, which might be one of the best things I’ve ever seen. 

To be honest, I could talk about Podoboo forever! If you didn’t stop me, I would go on all day about their every appearance, but I kind of had to limit myself to some of the most relevant ones. I just think they’re neat! And cute! And silly! Besides, I’m Mod F Boy, so I’m basically obliged to talk about fireballs with eyes! But for now I must bid you Pod-adieu! 

...Not! What, did you really believe me? Well you clicked the Keep Reading button, so you only have yourself to blame for this. Here I am talking about more Lava Bubbles from all over, because Lava Bubble’s career has taken it BEYOND the Mario series! Wow!

Podoboo’s had quite a few appearance in the Zelda series, appearing in Link’s Awakening, both the Oracle games, and even Cadence of Hyrule! Their Zelda wiki page is still called Podoboo instead of Lava Bubble, which means those Zelda fans have it better than we do. But wow, this is a pretty angry looking Podoboo! I wouldn’t mess with them! 

Both the Oracle games even had a Podoboo Tower! Amazing! They look quite a lot like a Fire Snake, but they are simply a tower of Podoboos! Why don’t they do this more often?

Hm... The Cadence of Hyrule one doesn’t have any eyes. Come on guys! It’s 2019! Podoboos having eyes should be standard! Though they still made the conscious decision to call them “Podoboos” in 2019, so I can’t be too mad. 

And they have even spread to Minecraft! In the Mario Mash-up Pack, they replace the Magma Cube enemies, and really there was no better choice for this. And now we have a Podoboo Cube! What more could possibly be left for Podoboo?

The answer is obvious- Podoboo in real life! Thanks to a certain Lego Mario set, Podoboo is now real and can be in your home for the small price of 19,99 US dollars. Please give a Podoboo a home today! Just make sure you don’t own anything flammable.

1. Please do not send anything explicitly nsfw- these blogs portray underage characters, and nsfw content of them is really fuckin weird! (this includes gore- no matter how good or engaging it might be, we have to be mindful of the other anons! implications are a very fine line and will be decided on a case by case basis, and mod will try to tag potentially triggering content! however, mod is not perfect, so if they miss something, please remind him!)

2. Please do not harass others! While some of you may have your various issues with the turtles and co., please do not take it out on mod or the other askers, as they are actual people! As well, any bigots- homophobes, transphobes, antisemitics, anti-autism, the like- will not be acknowledged! mod vixself is genderqueer and most definitely not straight, has clinically diagnosed autism, depression, and anxiety, as well as a history of anorexic behaviors, and traumatic experiences. while fel may fare well against just seeing/hearing about certain things, and can stand comments being launched at them, he does have a limit, and his limits may be higher than other anons. these blogs may be a bit, but there is a line that shouldn't be crossed, so please do be mindful and respectful!

3. Don't be afraid to use your oc's in asks! The events of the canon show and movie are entirely unchanged, so any previous histories will be void and null here! Some may be formed, but these blogs take place within a year after the movie (specific numbers will be posted to this after a hot second of research, so these blogs will not be responding to asks until a timeline is established!), so be aware that backstories for your oc's may be ignored! also be aware that mod likely does not know your oc's backstory, so feel free to type it up and tag him if you want them to understand something going on in your ask that has to do with the backstory. also, be aware that some nicknames are off-limits. unless you are running an rp blog of a character that would use said specific nickname, you are not that character, so do not use that nickname.

4. "But what if it was a turtle?" is not responsible for content sent into them! If askers send in content that crosses the nsfw, triggering, or harassment line, do not expect it to be answered! We do not want our askers to be heckled, so we will put our foot down if content sent in does not follow the rules!

5. Please be mindful that shipping is a tentative area! We're sure you all have your own headcanons, desires, and child oc's, but, once again, these are underage characters! If you are really dead-set and hellbent on a ship, you're going to have to work for it, and we can't guarantee you won't have competition or that anyone will be able to achieve such a feat! Of course, we are aware of the subsect of you that may send in shipping material to REACT to in order to see how torturous it may be for said character. This is going to be accepted on a case by case basis, and please do remember that these must apply to the other rules to be answered! However, asks that do not make the cut are more likely to be referenced as an independent post (though that may not be a good thing, so don't be getting ideas).

this will be a very long answer brace yourself

obviously one of my top favourite games is hollow knight for obvious reasons like the breathtaking soundtrack, stunning visuals, natural flowing gameplay thats just difficult enough so that its rewarding but doesnt make you extremely mad in the process, extraordinary lore and exceptional characters and character designs… i dont have enough words of praise in my lexicon for this game and i absolutely cannot wait for silksong!

then one of my favourite nintendo franchises in existence: splatoon. so many memories from when the first game came out, the nostalgia, the uniqueness of it all. nintendo truly outdid themselves, they made an enjoyable shooter game that is incredibly special and there is nothing like it.

night in the woods, one of my favourite story based games. the soundtrack is amazing, the artstyle inspires me a lot, and the story is really interesting and tackles mental health really well which a lot of games just cant do these days because developers dont put in enough research.

undertale and deltarune. i cant answer an ask about my favourite games without mentioning those two. undertale is a masterpiece with a phenomenal soundtrack, wonderful characters and a story that tugs on your heartstrings in just the right ways, and after all these years it still makes me tear up wether its just listening to the soundtrack or watching yet another playthrough of it. and deltarune is following in its footsteps really well, even though it may not even be complete yet. these games are so incredibly unique and i admire toby fox so much…

pokemon sun and moon are my favourite pokemon games… they may be easier than the older gens, but they hold a special place in my heart because of all the alolan pokemon designs, the story and the characters.

celeste.. oh gosh that game… tackles the ever so difficult topic of mental health so incredibly well, with the beautifully composed soundtrack by lena raine and the art… the gameplay is almost natural, you pick it up easily as soon as you start playing… the level designs are incredible…

bugsnax. i think the designs of all the bugs are incredible, i love the dark story and all the queer rep they have… fun to play and i think they did an amazing job with it!

paper mario and the origami king was the first paper mario game i played myself and boy was it an experience… i loved all of the small details, the gameplay never got repetitive and i will admit that the end made me cry a little. i was slightly afraid to pick it up at first since ive heard stories about the two most recent paper mario games that came before it were terrible, but this game was worth it.

yoshis woolly world! this game means so much to me… i used to play it with my grandpa in co-op mode and those are some of my most cherished memories, every time i think of that game i get really happy… the gameplay itself was incredibly fun too!

minecraft had to be on this list. ive been playing this game since 2012, ive seen it grow and shape into the incredible game it is today. it has sparked so much creativity from all sorts of different people… the insanely detailed and breathtaking builds, the genius redstone and command block contraptions, the endless numbers of servers you can play on and the limitless possibilities with mods… its probably one of the best games of all time no matter how much the internet tries fighting about it. arguably one of the most influential games as well.

there are so many more id love to mention but i feel like ive written a little too much 😭

Game On - Armin

“You’ve got to be kidding me.” Alexy said as soon as Candy and him entered his house. “look at this!”

Candy looked around, but she didn’t see what was the problem. The kitchen was all clean with nothing out of place. It even smelled of fresh citrus. “What’s wrong with the kitchen?” She asked. “It’s clean.”

“Exactly!” Alexy sigh. “No dishes. That means Armin didn’t cook, which means he didn’t eat dinner.”

Candy looked at the time. It was 11:15pm. “Ouch.” She said.

Alexy groaned. “I just wanted to go to bed, but now I have to cook food for my lazy brother?”

She put her hand on his shoulder. “Just go to bed. I’ve got it.”

He looked like he was about to protest but he changed his mind and simply nodded in agreement. He had had a rough night. They both had. Alexy’s date hadn’t showed up and he had called Candy in emergency to take his mind off of it. Making food for his brother was the least she could do. He deserved it.

As Alexy left for his bedroom, Candy looked through the cupboards and fridge. Macaroni and Cheese? She thought, eyeing the pasta, That will have to do.

When everything was ready, she grabbed a bowl filled to the brim with food, and walked to Armin’s room. From the other side of the door, she could hear the familiar song of Super Smash Bros, as well as Armin’s voice telling Yoshi to go fuck himself.

Candy knocked on the door.

“Not now, Alex” he called back. “I’m busy.”

“It’s not Alexy.” She replied. “It’s Candy. Can i come in? I brought food.”

She waited for a reply, but none came. Instead, she heard footsteps and suddenly the door opened. Armin was standing there, with hair messy and bare chested.

Candy blushed, trying not to look. How did Armin get a six pack?

“Hey.” He said.

She looked past him and saw that the options menu was showing on the tv.

“Oh, You didn’t have to pause your game.” She said. “I was gonna just drop the food.”

“Armin shook his head. “I’m not that impolite. I mean you brought me food after all.” He looked at the bowl she was holding and grinned. “is that Mac and cheese?” When she nodded he added,” I love Mac and cheese!”

Candy smiled. “Well, that’s good.”

He grabbed the bowl from her extended hands and sat down on the bed. “You guys are here early.”

She frowned. “Armin, it’s almost midnight. We were supposed to be back at 8.”

Alexy had told his brother that he was going to hang out with Candy. He wasn’t ready to tell him about his date yet. He wanted to see how it went first...And well, good thing he hadn’t. Turns out the lies became the truth after all.

“Oh.” Armin said. “That explains why I’m so hungry. Thanks for the food.” With the last word he took a bite from the pasta. He moaned in delight. “That is so good. That’s the best mac and cheese i’ve ever had.”

She busted out laughing. “Dude...It’s macaroni with kraft singles. It’s nothing special.”

He shook his head energetically, mouth full. “No, no. This is literally the best,”

Candy rolled her eyes. “You must have been starving, then.”

He nodded, before shoveling spoonful of macaroni into his mouth, one after the other. Not even a minute later, his bowl was empty. “Is it too much to ask if there’s more?”

She smiled. “I thought you would say that.” She nudge her head towards the door. “I left one bowl on the counter and one in the fridge. Figured you would be hungry again near 2 to 3 am.”

Armin jumped up from the bed. “Are you serious?” When she nodded, he added: “Gosh, Candy, you’re the best. I love you!”

And just like that he was gone, his footsteps echoing through the house. Candy couldn’t help but blush. She knew he didn’t really mean the I love you. But, it still didn’t stop her from feeling butterflies in her stomach.

Before she could ponder even more on the meaning of those words, Armin walked back into the room. The second bowl of macaroni was in his hands. It was easy to see that he had been eating along the way back to the bedroom. Half of the Mac and cheese was gone already.

He sat on the bed and motioned for her to join him. “C’mon, let’s share.”

Candy protested. “Oh no. It’s okay. I made it for you.”

Armin gave her a pointed look. “You cannot tell me that making it didn’t make you hungry.”

“I mean...” Candy couldn’t lie. “yeah, a little bit.”

He tapped the spot next to him. “Then come over and share with me.”

She knew it was pointless to argue with Armin. That boy could be stubborn when he wanted to. So, she walked to him and sat down by his side. He took a bite of the mac and cheese, before he handed the spoon to her. She accepted it grateful that he hadn’t decided to spoon feed her. She wouldn’t put it against him. She blushed at the thought. 

They shared the food, each taking a bite before handing the ustensil to the other. Soon enough, the plate was empty. Candy had to admit that Armin was right. Maybe it hadn’t been the best thing in the world, like he had insisted, but it had been pretty good. Especially on an empty stomach. 

« hey, » Armin said, trying to grab her attention. « Since you’re here. Do you want to play Smash with me? »

Candy pondered over it. She was dying to try out the game. And playing with Armin? It ought to be pretty interesting. But.... « I can’t. » She said, with a pout.

He frowned. « Why? »

“I have to meet Alex before he falls asleep. I need to borrow a shirt to use as a Pj.”

“Oh, Alexy is already fast asleep. Believe me that guy is a log.”

Candy groaned. “Yeah, he is.”

He rolled his eyes. “Just borrow one of mine and then let’s play. Not that big of a deal.”

Candy nodded. That seemed like the best plan. “Sure. Let’s do it.”

So, Armin went through his drawers and got her a shirt. It was one of his classic: a black shirt with the Star Wars logo on it. He handed it to her, and she accepted it with a thanks.

She let Armin’s shirt rest on the bed, and raised her own over her head, when...

“Candy!” Armin exclaimed. “ Not Alexy! Not gay!”

She froze. What had she done. She quickly slipped the stars wars shirt on. And turned toward Armin embarrassed.

“I’m so sorry.” She was used to changing in front of Alexy and for a second there she forgot that she was with the other twin.

Armin grinned. “Hey, no need to apologize. I enjoyed the view.”

Candy raised an eyebrow at him. “Is that why It took you so long to tell me?”

“I mean... “ He shrugged.

She rolled her eyes. “For that, I’m gonna kick your ass. Grab a controller and let’s get to it.”

As Armin changed the game to multiplayer mod, Candy slipped her jeans off. She make sure that he was not looking this time. She would not make the same mistake twice. 

She then joined him on the couch and he handed her a controller. Without hesitation she picked Kirby, while Armin picked Link. 

They clicked on the button, and the game started. 

At first, Armin was winning with ease, but then surprising both of them Candy made a comeback. 

“No way.” Armin said. Without taking his eyes of the screen, he tried to grab Candy’s controller.

“Cheater!” She yelped, as she pulled away from his reach. But it was too late. She had lost her concentration. Her character flew off the screen. And just like that Armin won.

“You jerk!” she exclaimed. “I would have won if you hadn’t done that.”

Armin shrugged. “All’s fair in war and games.”

Candy crossed her arms and pouted. 

“Wanna play again?” he asked. “Or are you too scared to lose again?”

Candy rose up to the challenge. “Oh, I’m in. I could smash you all night.”

Armin busted out laughing and she realized how it sounded. 

“No!” She exclaimed. “I didn’t mean it like that.”

Armin smirked. “Don’t worry Candy. It’s okay. You can smash me all you want.”

She groaned. “Stop itt!”

“Am I smashing your nerves?” he asked.

Candy couldn’t handle the puns anymore. She straddled his hips and put her hand on his mouth to stop him from uttering one more word. “Are you done?”

He nodded, and she removed her hand.

“How about instead of you hand, you smash your lips against mine?” Armin asked, still smiling. 

Candy’s wiggled closer and hit his chest. “Enough!”

A sound of pleasure escaped Armin’s mouth. And both of them looked at each other in shock.

“Did you...?” Candy started.

“Hey, you’re the one who keeps rubbing herself against me.” Armin replied.

“Did I...?” She blushed not able to finish her sentence. She already knew the answer. She did gave him a boner. She could feel it. 

She had the urge to look down, and see it for herself, but she fought it. Instead, she leaped down from his lap. Armin immediately grabbed a pillow to cover up. 

“I’m sorry.” She apologized.

“Don’t worry about it.” He said absently, “It’s not the first time.” 

Candy’s eyes widened. And he seemed to notice what he just said. His cheek reddened, but he still acted casual about it. “Don’t act so shocked. You’re perfect. It shouldn’t surprise you that I have a crush on you.”

She swallowed. “Crush?” 

Armin groaned. “I just keep digging myself a deeper hole aren’t I.”

Candy shook her head, still in disbelief. “Can you repeat what you said?”

He rolled his eyes. “Yes,Candy, I’ve had sexual fantasies about you. Not that big of a deal.”

“Not that part.” Candy said. Strangely, that part could wait. “You have a crush on me?”

Armin shrugged. “I mean, yeah. Who wouldn’t? I’m pretty sure half the boys in our class have a crush on -”

He didn’t get to finish his sentence, because Candy’s lips were suddenly on his. He wrapped his hand around her cheek, hoping to deepen the kiss, when she pulled away.

Still in a daze, he turned to look at her and saw her staring at the tv, controller in hand. His character flew off the screen.

“YES!” Candy exclaimed.

“That was not fair.” Armin grunted.

She pressed a kiss to his cheek. “All’s fair in war and games.”

He raised his eyebrows. “If that’s how you wanna play it.” He grabbed his controller. “Game on.”

I’m sorry? I really did try to answer the request the best I could - to answer it with fluffy, cutesy friendship headcanons would go completely against the way I see Hibari and his character and it makes me really upset to write characters OOC (or OOC in my opinion because, please keep in mind here, you could see Hibari completely opposite of me and neither of us would be wrong as there is more than one right way to view a character). But I didn’t want to not answer anything, as it makes me just as upset to refuse requests! 

I honestly did my best, trying to come up with some headcanons for how I could actually see a friendship between Hibari and someone like this going. They (this childhood friend) reminded me kind of Ryohei (since bubbly to me equals perky and energetic) so I kind of drew some inspiration from the relationship between Ryohei and Hibari - there is a respect between them but they’re not the most cuddly, boisterous of friends either. And, while Ryohei can and does call out Hibari, he’s gotten threatened like anyone else.

Honestly, to me, Hibari is very much someone who likes a lot of time to himself and isn’t going to want to hang out with people a lot. He’s never going to be a friend that someone can just drop in on and pull out to do things with them. He’s busy and he doesn’t like running his own errands, why would he go with someone else to run theirs? Restaurants are crowded and he doesn’t like that, so he either eats in a private room or gets take-out so it’s not like he and his friends would eat out a lot either. Hibari just is not going to be that type of friend. He might sit and share a meal with someone on top of the school roof or talk to them for an hour or so if they come in by themselves and don’t bother him too much.

If you honestly think about it too, all the people Hibari could consider ‘friends’, since, like I said, I honestly don’t think he’d ever honestly refer to anyone that way, for the reasons I stated in the original post...all those people (Dino, Kusakabe, Ryohei, Reborn, Adelheid), those are all people who can hold their own against him and who give him lots of space and leniency on his quirks. These are all people who have fought against him at some point too, in my opinion, since a lot of his ‘friends’ he makes through his favourite pastime, fighting. 

The type of person they requested Hibari to be best friends with (a term I think Hibari would hate because such quantifiers are meaningless, sixth grade girl nonsense to him) just isn’t someone I could honestly see him wanting to spend a lot of time around. That’s not to say he’d hate them. It’s quite likely that they’d amuse him but like I said, I can’t see them being extremely close. Hibari isn’t extremely close to anyone; he’s an incredibly private person and keeps his emotions and secrets in his own brain. Not even Kusakabe, who is arguably closest to him, knows much about Hibari. Nobody does. He likes it that way, prefers it that way. Even someone who knew him from childhood is going to likely be in the dark about a lot when it comes to Hibari.  On top of that, someone so perky is the complete antithesis to Hibari and, as an introvert and someone who really does need that quiet time, Hibari is likely to find that type of person wearying after too much time with them.

Again, I’m really sorry! I did try but I’m afraid I failed a bit! If you were looking for a bit better headcanons, something a bit fluffier, might I recommend @sawadatuna-yoshi? (They’re the only open KHR blog I know of, sorry!!!) Hey, Mod Tati, do you have anything cuter than the not at all fluffy headcanons I came up with?
