Sky ended up using what chaos energy she had to travel through dimensions and other galaxies, as no one was aware of the extent of the power of the chaos energy, so it was unpredictable and that's why it was under so much protection and pressure to preserve.

Sky's home planet ended up getting destroyed by Infinite and she crashed on the moon in the current dimension, where her final travel left a giant energy surge (big explosions ooo) which jostled every radar on Earth, which sent the government and the Space Colony ARK to investigate. Her quills and equipment was found on the moon, which the ARK hid from the government and used to create the base for Shadows DNA, later on using Black Arms DNA.

Very small remnants of the pure chaos energy shards was found, and was heavily monitored and tested on by the ARK, which was later improved on.

Stages of my relationship with blind boxes

1. Oh god, those clones are everywhere. And don't you even dare call them BJD!

2. Last spring: this Penny dragon is a copy of that cool, big Dollzone dragon that's too big for me to handle, so I should definitely grab a small one!

2. Few months later: 10,000 escape plans are cool, I'll take one, thank you. And maybe that cool red goat as well.

4. Now: got one pack from Xiaohongshu and one from Taobao, waiting for one to be sent from Modian (Electronic pets), and participating in one current crowdfunding (Nyssa). Not even mentioning two dolls from Ali who are on their way. And I just ordered one more doll. And three more. Just because they were good deals and I didn't want to regret again.

Last week my first Chinese parcel arrived.

It all started because of the Electronic pet series. My desire to get the white dog of these series and unwillingness to pay scalpers was stronger than my confusion with Chinese platforms. So I went through all the trouble of making and filling up Alipay account, and signing up on Modian. Some people tried to scare me by saying that only Chinese citizens can order from Modian, but it's not like that at all. Although, I was a bit late for the all-in, so I ordered just a pack of six. Still waiting for them to be shipped. I could have already received a basic pack, but I didn't want to make two parcels for them (because they can't ship bonuses yet). They supposedly should ship in March.

It's not so scary as it seemed, after all. The worst part is that everything is in Chinese (circle to search is a saviour). I'm still worried about getting banned on Tao since my previous account was banned for no reason (though there weren't any purchases on it).

Got Minty fantasy forest pack and one outfit from COME4FREE shop on Xiaohongshu. It was unexpected for me that they put six cute headbands as a gift. That's sweet of them. Also got Penny's box magic beasts from Tao. It was right before Chinese New year, so I had nice coupons for all. Penny's small gift is a cute badge.

Ordered whole packs because I liked the series overall, but wasn't sure which doll in particular to get. And I also hoped for a chance at secret ones. Well, I've never even once won a lottery, so this time was no exception. Not that I'm surprised, but still, a little frustrated. I had hope till the very last box.

Of all the blind box dolls I have, penny are the best. They pose well, nothing falls off or looks like it will break if squeezed slightly stronger. And I really like hip joints of magic beasts series.

Minty are cute and make cute poses. I took the wire out right after taking dolls out of the box because 1. it would break sooner or later, 2. it stains. Also I can't make the squirrel stand, her head is way too heavy.

Hello, folks. This is your Oldie Chinese Diaspora Anon™️. I am starting to feel like I sound like bad news bears, so I would like to make my stance clear here. I have nothing against blind box dolls – heaven knows, I have a couple of them, too. It’s just unfortunate that I keep on encountering troubling news when it comes to blind box dolls, it seems. Please bear with me, would you?

Now, I need to introduce you to an... old friend. While we all know the resin recaster and his myriad of companies, I think I have brought up the vinyl recaster, DBS, a few times before as well. As a refresher, DBS is a toy company that specializes in vinyl and ABS toys. They bill themselves as the creators of “proudly MiC” toys for the next generation. However, their dolls have been found to be “recasted” from resin into vinyl and they have been plagiarising from several different companies, from Koreans to down-home Chinese. The MäyTrëë line of blind boxes were rejected by the BJD community because while the original designer was independent, the dolls were made by one of the DBS companies and was thought to be one of their subsidiaries. With that as a preamble, let me introduce you to the “Inedible Rabbits” dolls (Well, these ones: https://www.kikagoods.com/products/moon-jumping-time-bunny-series-1-12-action-figure-bjd-blind-box?variant=44766128931050 ). Similar to the “Escape Plan” dolls, they were created by a team of newbies who first 3D-printed their designs and pitched them to what’s akin to a Chinese-version of a Kickstarter called Modian. During the crowdfunding period, people can pre-order these dolls while the team running the KS maintain regular updates, chase goals, changes to the designs, etc. The final production is usually outsourced to a factory. The team is, in theory, working with the team all the way until delivery. I still vaguely remember someone asking “why aren’t there KS campaigns for dolls?” Well, you’re about to find out why… it wasn’t the price or the long production time, There’s a lot more to it.

As with the “Escape Plan” team, there’s a gap between the final products when compared to the samples (https://the-bjd-community-confess.tumblr.com/post/756541155738615808/一万次出逃计划开箱-避雷快跑哔哩哔哩bilibili ). One of the problems that was encountered by the buyers from the Escape Plan Team was that they have gone AWOL when people started to receive their dolls and started complaining. With the Inedible Rabbit Team however, my sources reported worse issues with communication. The creative team was not only unresponsive most of the time but they would block anyone who even asked benign questions. We also found out that the creative team behind the Inedible Rabbits did not apply to become a company prior to establishing their KS. It means that all of the transactions are considered personal (think F&F). With their frequent and wilful blocking of people, there are a lot of donors who are worried about how shady their behaviour is.

I do not want to be seen as someone who stands in others’ way of having a good time and earning money. But I also cannot stay quiet when I know that blind box dolls are a lot of new collectors’ gateway into resin BJD. This is akin to me knowing that something is a recast but fail to warn the new comers ahead of time. If anyone gets looked down upon or rejected from a group due to association with a doll that uses DBS clothes, I don’t think I can quite live with myself. So… thank you very much for lending your ears to me once more. I know full well that I do not have the ability to change anyone’s mind, but at least I can sleep better knowing that I have tried my best to tell you what I know.

Day 6: Tim Burton Films

A chilly evening, filled with joyful murmurs in a church. There were both living and passed Mobians who were thrilled to see a wedding, regardless of participants. But the male Hedgehog, who stood at the table at the front of the church with a skeleton of a Modian, waited for his bride. She was the most beautiful woman he’s ever laid his eyes on. Even knowing he had lost his previous bride-to-be, she was different. Amy Rose, a hedgehog who would fight death to be with the one she chose to be with. He was thrilled to have met her, to have fallen for her even with the misunderstandings they had had.

So he stood, black sclera and a few fingers showing bone, with his hands in front of him waiting for her to walk through those doors. And she had. Bright pink quills that made the room light up. His friend, the lovely bat Rouge whose wings were torn, yet beautifully covered by lace stood by him, was excited to see the sparkle in his eyes. Amy walked down the aisle, a small black bouquet in hand all the while oblivious to her previously betrothed standing in the back row. They met and stood hand in hand at the alter. He a corpse, soon she to be his bride.

“Amy?” Amy’s hands jumped from Shadow’s and she looked down the aisle to see a blue hedgehog.

“Sonic?” Her eyes were misty as he stared at her.

“Sonic? You mean… your betrothed? Why is he here?” Shadow feared he would lose her, as he had lost his previous love.

“I’m not sure. Sonic.” She wandered to him. “How did you know to be here? I am…”

“You’re marrying someone else. I thought we… had something.” His eyes were saddened.

“We did, however, I feel a deeper connection with Shadow. I feel a love towards him that is reciprocated and so very deep.” Sonic watched her as she spoke so lovingly about this other hedgehog. He wanted to be angry, he wanted to be sad, however he could never give her what she truly wanted, they were much too different.

“I am so happy for you Ames.” He put one arm on her shoulder. He was ready to let go until the church doors opened once more.

“Oh, I always cry at weddings!” They looked to the door to see a jackal with blue and yellow colored eyes, his hair Curled to the side, his glare so cocky. “Young lovers together at last, if it weren't for one problem.” His fangs were sharp as they were shown to the men. “She’s too valuable to simply be thrown to the worms!” He snatched Amy’s arm pulling from from Sonic and Shadow let out a deep growl, his remaining claws ready to attack. “I will not leave here empty-handed!”

Shadow took a step forward and he finally looked the jackal in the eyes. A silence fell over them as he finally recognized him.

“You…”

“Shadow?” Amy questioned.

“But.. I left you.” The jackal said taking a step back.

“For dead!” Shadow bared his fangs at the jackal before him. This was the man he had nightmares of, the one he remembered from his murder in the forest. This was the man who took him from his first love!

“Infinite, stop!” Sonic tried to reason with him.

“Never! I will not be leaving without her!” He looked to one of the dead men in a pew to find a sword sticking out from his chest. He gripped it tight, yanking it free, and knocked Sonic to the ground with the sword's pommel. He put the blade to Amy’s throat and took a few steps back towards the door.

“Take your hands off of her.” The crowd gasped as Shadow's quills began to flow with chaos energy, his dull red eyes now taking on a bright shine.

“If I have to, I’ll kill you again, hedgehog. I’ll take this bride from you as well.”

The two began to fight, Shadow's knife barely grazing Infinite's jacket, a few bits of fur sliced away from his head. Infinite's sword left a thin slash in Shadow's chest. Sonic had gotten to his feet and pulled Amy aside, keeping her out of the fighting as much as he could. They watched as Shadow became disarmed, his knife falling to the ground so loudly Amy covered her ears. Amy shouted for Shadow, scared for him to truly be hurt, and rushed from Sonic’s arms to try and get Infinite away. The crowd in an uproar began to swarm the jackal until the skeletal modian told them to freeze.

“Shadow catch!” Shadow's eyes glanced towards Rouge as she threw a knife to him. He wasn’t nearly as fast as when he was alive however, when the blade landed in his palm he simply sliced it through, ready to fight for Amy’s safety.

“Sorry hun!” She shouted to him

“We are not to cause harm to the living!”

“But sir-”

“No, we must abide by their rules! We may not be able to die but we can not take them before their own time!” Amy could hear the anger in his tone, knowing he desperately wished for Inifinte's demise.

“Well put old man!” His laughter filled the church, it echoed deep within Amy’s ears, her heart pounding. She knew they could do no harm to him, a simple cut meant nothing in terms of their own mortality. She glanced around the room and spotted the knife on the floor. She knew what she had to do, to keep Shadow from becoming even more hateful to himself. She needed to protect him. She gripped the knife and ran at Infite, the blade piercing his back causing him to drop the sword he had taken.

His hands shook as he felt the pain in his back he turned to glare at the woman who had attacked him, who had faced the fear of him, who had finally stopped him in his tracks. Amy stood with tears in her eyes, her arms shook, making the blade wiggle into Infinite and she could only hear her heart as Shadow and Sonic screamed out to her. She removed her hands from the knife, and backed away, Sonic running to her side. She stumbled back and watched as Infinite dropped to the floor. Shadow stared at her, fear filling his eyes. Was he scared of her now? She couldn’t register what was going on until Sonic turned her face to his. Those green eyes she had fallen for not too long ago were still a comfort, even if she no longer felt the longing she once had.

“Ames? Amy come on. Answer me!” She finally heard him and watched as Infinite's body began to rise, his sclera black and filled with rage.

“You little-” He was ready to lunge until a hand found his shoulder. Rouge stood with several of the dead mobians surrounding him. Wicked grins and sharp eyes were all he could see before he was dragged through a door away from the small group. A howling was heard as whatever torture they had planned for him, had already begun.

If I remember correctly, Dove comes from a niktuku lineage but isn't niktuku herself. It's a bloodline with strange quirks.

They Can only eat kindred blood, the one with a weakness we know of (nukeleve and running water) is a folkloric bane and when embraced they are stupidly beautiful and get uglier as they age (very unlike Nosferatu who become ugly and get even more ugly).

Best way to think of it is that the matriarch and Baba yaga are from absimilard like the niktuku but are Nosferatu instead.

Which is why she's ugly and doesn't eat kindred. Her sires just a dick.

Unless they have retconned the niktuku just for night road.

Honestly I think it could still work within the lore established for Nictuku because "omg!!! they eat people!!! THEY EAT BABIES!!!" is a popular pre-modern propaganda for enemies. It would not surprise me at all if Nictuku being cannibals was a complete lie, or just a myth. It could simply be that the Nictuku don't have the same taboo around diablerie and everyone else freaked out and took that as being the same thing as a "requirement." Or maybe you only require vitae while you have an active blood bond with Absimilliard, which I can't imagine every single Nictuku descendant has. It may be that being blood bound to an Antediluvian does fucky things to your biology regardless of bloodline.

However I do believe that if Dove really was just a normal Nosferatu who happened to be a genetic throwback, the game wouldn't be emphasising her ugliness so much. She's said to be hideous even by Nosferatu standards, and the game goes out of its way to explicitly state her lineage, so I think it's quite deliberate. In fact, part of her backstory is that her sire, Modian, found her so ugly that he abandoned her on the spot. His official excuse was that she "wasn't really his", but like, dude, he was there when she was Embraced, he knew that was bullshit. My thinking is that Dove resembled their Nictuku ancestors more than he did, he was terrified it'd reveal his ancestry, and so he tried to distance himself from her as much as possible. I cannot remember explicitly, but he might have even been the one that set the Giovanni on Dove, which screams "cover up." But take that with a grain of salt, that might have only been implied and the author might not have intended that implication.

Reremouse, though, is the odd one out as he likes to chill underground and Nictuku are supposed to be claustrophobic (plus I just found out he's the brother of a character from another CoG game who hangs out in sewers and doesn't seem to be distressed by it). I'd love to know more about him. Despite Dove's shitty relationship with Modian she seems to be a lot closer to Reremouse in that she actively keeps him fed, and is genuinely distressed at the thought of his destruction. Plus the game strongly implies he's not a Wight but he's prone to Wight-like rampages? Dying to know the story behind that.

And honestly the Nictuku thing would explain why Dove doesn't seem to be attached to a Warren at all. There's zero mention of any Nosferatu in Tucson aside from Dove and her relatives. That might be because the Old Prince of Tucson massacred them, but Dove doesn't seem to be in a hurry to re-establish a Warren 10+ years later. But again, her grandsire and great-uncle like to chill underground, so that might not mean anything.
