I post one Calvin and Hobbes comic to a whole 11 notes and then I post another with as much fanfare and tagging to 400+ notes exploding my phone for the last 24 hours.
Algorithm? This site doesn’t even have a formula! Post popularity should be used for random number generation honestly.

Here we have a home that demonstrates how stark white walls don't mean that a house can't be colorful. Why, however, they painted all the exterior brick blue, I don't understand. Anyway, the 1991 contemporary home, located in Pauma Valley, California, has 3bd, 3.5ba and is listed for $1.15M.
Tumblr media
Enter an open "foyer." The front door is painted purple inside. Love that.
Tumblr media
Immediately to the right is a big bright living room with a contemporary fireplace. I think that the colorful chimney is wallpaper, there's a blue square painted on the wall with an orange door to the left that matches the Mona Lisa art.
Tumblr media
Also in the living room is a recessed wet bar.
Tumblr media
The open concept living/dining room features a custom made conversation pit. I'm disappointed that the furnishings don't seem to be included. But, I guess there's enough color for the buyers to put their own stamp on it.
Tumblr media
Look at the tile column that appears to be made of Legos. The stairs and seats in the pit are made of concrete, so all that's needed are some cushions.
Tumblr media
Brightly striped wall in the dining room has a neon sign that says, "Steak Me Home Tonight." I wonder if it conveys.
Tumblr media
The spacious powder room has pink toilet paper roll wallpaper.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The kitchen has white cabinetry and features a blue island, but accessories provide pops of color.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the family room, a floor-to-ceiling fireplace looks funky with raised geometric shapes painted gray. I suppose that you can repaint it, if you want. Light blue shelving and cabinets provide the color in the room.
Tumblr media
Purple carpeting in the primary bedroom. I see what they were trying to do with the bed, but it's just not bright enough.
Tumblr media
I prefer this bedroom with the mural and geometric shapes.
Tumblr media
Check out the bright yellow wall of cabinets in the home office. That desk would be easy to duplicate.
Tumblr media
Colorful wallpaper and doors.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The basement is a blank canvas.
Tumblr media
This home is located in a country club.
Tumblr media
Nice entrance to the driveway, but I think it would look classier if they hadn't painted the bricks.
Tumblr media
Path to the front door looks nice.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The kidney-shaped pool kinda looks heart-shaped, too. A privacy wall surrounds the property.
Tumblr media
They didn't show it, but there's a sun room or conservatory in the back.
Tumblr media
Unusual elevated yard area has a ladder to get to it.

are big blockbuster movies (a la marvel) worthy of artistic examination?
i kind of reject the question. whether artistic or literary analysis is 'worth it', whatever that means, chiefly rests on if you get something useful and illuminating out of conducting the analysis, it's not a property stored within the object itself. you can conduct a pointless and asinine analysis of the mona lisa or a deep and incisive analysis of the wendy's logo

You know what’s the best part about “the Mona Lisa being a fake” theory is? Even if Helen didn’t burn the real painting, Miles still had a shit ton of other art pieces littered around the house. So far I’ve found:
Picasso’ Still Life With Stone is worth around 100 million dollars.
Degas’s L’Absinthe is 35 million.
Mondrian’s Composition No. II, with Red and Blue is 75 million.
Rothko’s Number 207 is around 80 million.
Matisse’s Icarus is also 80 million.
And the best part?
And these are just the painting that the movie showed us.
Mile’s house is probably filled with even more famous artworks that were destroyed when Helen blew up the Glass Onion. Just the ones I found would put him in at least 370 million worth of property damage. Now imagine how bigger the debt would be once the director pulls out a list of every piece that was destroyed along with Miles’ future.
Whether the Mona Lisa is gone or not, only one thing is for sure; No one is going to touch Miles Bron ever again.

3 Years Younger
Ryota Miyagi x F!Reader
I can't get the movie out of my head
Warnings: family(you have a kid), hurt/comfort maybe?
Tumblr media
``This sucks.``
Your eyes glance over to the head of the table to meet a grumpy preteen with an angry pout as he stubbornly looks to the side, avoiding yours and his father's eyes. The movements that follow the kid's... opinion are slow, almost in slow motion for both you and your spouse. You both pause to look at each other with wide eyes. Ryota is in the middle of a bite that never makes it to his mouth while you have put your fork down on the cake-covered plate. You can feel Ryota's confusion in your gut, the quiet question of "What brought this on?" Like you have any answers. You raise an eyebrow at him, silently urging him to question the kid's statement, which he does.
``What sucks?`` Ryota throws an uncertain glance at you when the kids puffs up.
``This!`` You desperately hold in a smile as Ryota's eyebrow rises at the childs vague answer and a raise of tone. ``I'm sick of having strawberry cake every time some event rolls around!`` The sentence turns into a whine near the end. ``You don't even gimme the last slice of the cake that I know you eat dad!—``
You quickly suck in the air as you look at your beloved with the expression resembling Mona Lisa, a wicked upturn of lips that mock his form finally caught in the act.
``I do not eat the last slice of cake!—``
``You always eat the strawberries too! What if I want some!?``
``Well, you should have asked then. Stop falsely accusing me, young man.``
Their banter quickly comes to a stop, and so the awkward air of the aftermath hangs heavily over the men. Your eyes look for something to defuse the tension. Eventually, they land on the white chocolate slate on the round cake. You quickly rise from the chair to reach and steal it off the strawberry that balances it, while Ryota is busy glaring at the side of the kids head.
Kenzō likes the taste of chocolate.
The English letters on the slate congratulate you with chocolate swirls around the syllables. Your digits squeeze and tug the piece downward until you successfully break it through the middle. The soft sound draws Ryota's gaze to you. Staring at your outstretched hand, you wave the sweet to urge him to take it. Yet as his fingers hold the fragile first piece of chocolate, he contemplates crushing it. He could never find the sweet taste as delicious after his... passing. The off-white color reminds him of a bitter, cloudy day—a memory he can only live with because forgetting it won't bring him any closure.
<<HAPPY RYOTA>> his name reads under the adjective. Starring at his sons second half that you gave after leaving him with his— <<BIRTHDAY>> on top and <<&KENZŌ>> lies unfinished.
He puts the slate back on Kenzō's piece of cake, completing the sentence as the child speaks up.
``...I wanna do somethin' different.``
``... Then.`` Ryota looks at you, unsure of the next sentence.``Would you like to go to the beach?``
When you both decided to settle down, the choice to stay close to his mother was mutually agreed upon, Though the house is mostly empty because of Ryota's career choice, it isn't exactly rare for your family to travel overseas.
Anyway, the property is close to the beach, which means it is also not uncommon for your family to be seen there playing in the sea or wandering around during the colder days.
The furrowed brows on Kenzō are nothing but a false mask to conceal his mood as he turns to his father and softly nods, hopping off the chair and into his room to get his swimsuit. You won't really need much to prepare for the sudden change of plans.
Silly boy.
With that you put the used plates away and into the sink as Ryota gets an extra plate from the cabinet before cutting a thin slice of the cake into the comfortable silence, you watch as he nudges the slice to land on the white porcelain plate. This has become a tradition of sorts. Perhaps it already was before you became his girlfriend. You're looking through the cabinets for a cover.
After all, three people in your family have their birthdays on the same day.
``Do we have something to wrap this in?``
You hand him a pink see-through bag.
``This will have to do.``
``Mhm.`` Ryota notes.
It's soon after that your family starts heading towards a bitter place, containing no good memories, though, forever tied to you and Ryota. Inside the car, Kenzō makes a few comments here and there, asking where you're headed, before quieting down once you've satisfied his curiosity. It's not a shock that he doesn't know the road. You and your husband don't come here often, not since your son was born.
The heartache has long passed. However, the scar still lives on in Ryota's mind, tightening during his hardest struggles. He wishes to get the deed done quickly and quietly, not thinking much of it since there's not much left for his thoughts to digest. He had years dedicated to that process. Now, all that's left is the cold aftertaste.
The ambiance outside seems louder than the music he has turned on in the car. It's enough to get his mind off of the guilt until the familiar gate comes into view.
Within minutes, he is walking with his left hand holding onto the bag containing a slice of cake, while his right hand engulfs Kenzō's tiny palm. It's an adorable sight compared to the surroundings. The green leaves and the enchanting melodies of chirping birds around here can never truly comfort someone. They can only cradle the choking feelings, sowing hope for the next day.
The Miyagi family monument sits still, stone dusty and heavy with the heart of an older brother. It's not anyone's favorite place to visit, but in a twisted way, it brings about a sense of peace—a realm that only the drowned and his family can understand. Others can only enter and see nothing but a stone with its harsh surface.
The cake slice is put in the place of a flower. It's a tradition.
Prayers come as the pink bag rattles with movement. Quiet overtakes your family as you join his left side to pray for a boy who you never saw outside of the washed out photos, wrinkled by the time they spend sealed away in a box under your shared bed.
Kenzō can stay still for only so long before looking up at Ryota with his palms together and eyes closed.
``What if he doesn't want the cake?`` The loud exhale exits Ryota's nose, it's not from annoyance, nor frustration.
``Then someone else who does want it will eat it.``
Kenzō turns his head to the stone monument, tightening his grip on his dad's pants for a second before letting it go.
A quiet, almost shy murmur from him slices through the air, and this time, Ryota looks down at Kenzō.
``I hope he enjoys it.``
``...I do too.`` With a fragile smile, Ryota rests his hand on the boy's hair while throwing an arm around your shoulders. ``Well, we should go now, huh? The water gets colder the later it gets.``
It's barely 1PM. You are not going to mention that, though.
His palm messed with Kenzō's hair, causing the child to whine from the rough treatment and slap at the wrist, but to no avail. Ryota and you can only smile at each other. He carries the same boyish smile from high school that still manages to fill you with warmth and certainty.
The burden seems to lift off your shoulders, untwisting your gut as his pupils focus on you. His palm gently caresses your face, ignoring the squirming child on his right side as you make it back to the car in a lighter mood.
"I love you." You say it subconsciously.
"I love you too.—" His lips kiss near the corner of your mouth. It's his favorite place to be affectionate to aside from—
"I love mom more than you! Agh—" The ride to the beach is accompanied by countless karaoke numbers from Kenzō, you and Ryota also join in on some of them, singing along with a smile as his enthusiasm becomes contagious.
The ocean seemed warmer that day, the waves exceptionally calm, and the sand softer.
Ryota, and you make sure to do something more special for Kenzō the next time around.

Get in the Genloss train
I think it’d be funny if those of us obsessed with genloss just start to doodle the genloss logo on everything we can put it on. (Legally) Preferably don’t break any laws, avoid the Mona Lisa and such. And just spread it everywhere so people will begin to question what it means and also just in support of ranboo and the show
There’s a decent amount of us, I bet we could actually do something people start to uneasily notice. If not get them to join us, at least we can scare them a bit with this random symbol popping up places
Spread the trauma. Make them watch it. Give SFM a bigger audience
Edit: guys this is mostly just a joke. Be responsible. Do not actually vandalize property. Do not try and scare people with this logo. Try and keep it to your own property and people who you know are aware of genloss. As fun as it would be to spread it around because we know what it means, others do not and having an unknown symbol show up everywhere can be triggering and cause actuall paranoia and unease. Be respectful please!

Portrait of Maria Ivanovna Lopukhina (1797) 🎨 Vladimir Borovikovskiy 🏛️ Tretyakov Gallery 📍 Moscow, Russia
The portrait of M. I. Lopukhina is one of the intimate portraits painted by Borovikovsky at the turn of the 18th–19th centuries. Similarly styled works by the artist are his portraits of E. G. Temkina (1798, Tretyakov Gallery), E. A. Naryshkina (1799, Tretyakov Gallery) and others.
Maria Ivanovna Lopukhina (1779–1803) was the Count I. A. Tolstoy’s daughter and F. I. Tolstoy’s sister. In the year the portrait was made, she turned eighteen and got married to S. A. Lopukhin, a Jägermeister and chamberlain at the court of Paul I. The portrait appeared because of this event. It could have been commissioned by the prospective husband or the woman’s parents. The painting was intended for the family gallery and had to correspond to the latest trends in painting of that time, the trends of Sentimentalism.
The art of Sentimentalism praised the harmonious relationship between man and nature. In portraits the women images were incorporated into landscape themes (corners of parks with clear blue skies). Nature both beautifully framed a woman’s beauty and reminded of the world of the artist’s heroines who went on solitary walks, read sentimental novels, and had girlish dreams.
Borovikovsky created the image of a young woman whose perfection resembled an ancient statue. Everything in the image (the soft shape, the white marble skin, the grace of the pose, and the embossed folds of the tunic) seems to be borrowed from classical sculpture. But the earthly beauty of youth emerges through the charm of the statue that has the evanescent, soft complexion, and she looks lively with a blush and sparkling eyes.
The expression on Lopukhina’s face, like the famous “smile of the Mona Lisa” portrayed by Leonardo da Vinci, cannot be definitely described. The model’s look changes with each viewpoint and the light: it becomes either proud and indifferent, or soft and thoughtful, and then mocking and rather flirtatious. It was characteristic of Sentimentalist artists to wish to convey a rich range of feelings.
The landscape surrounding the woman’s figure was invented by the artist. It acquires the properties of a mirror: the woman’s shawl is similar to the color of roses; her tunic is akin to the color of lilies and trunks of birches; her belt is of the color of the sky and cornflowers, and the gold threads in the belt and the bracelet are similar to wheat seeds. The interchange of color emphasize Lopukhina’s inextricable relationship with surrounding nature.
The portrait of Lopukhina is the pinnacle of Borovikovsky’s art. Later, Ya. P. Polonsky dedicated his poem “To the Portrait” (1885) to this canvas.

Jacques-Albert Senave - Copyist in a gallery of the Louvre -
oil on panel, height: 28.5 cm (11.2 in); width: 36.2 cm (14.2 in)
Louvre Museum
The Louvre or the Louvre Museum is a national art museum in Paris, France. It is located on the Right Bank of the Seine in the city's 1st arrondissement (district or ward) and home to some of the most canonical works of Western art, including the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo. The museum is housed in the Louvre Palace, originally built in the late 12th to 13th century under Philip II. Remnants of the Medieval Louvre fortress are visible in the basement of the museum. Due to urban expansion, the fortress eventually lost its defensive function, and in 1546 Francis I converted it into the primary residence of the French kings.
The building was extended many times to form the present Louvre Palace. In 1682, Louis XIV chose the Palace of Versailles for his household, leaving the Louvre primarily as a place to display the royal collection, including, from 1692, a collection of ancient Greek and Roman sculpture. In 1692, the building was occupied by the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres and the Académie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture, which in 1699 held the first of a series of salons. The Académie remained at the Louvre for 100 years. During the French Revolution, the National Assembly decreed that the Louvre should be used as a museum to display the nation's masterpieces.
The museum opened on 10 August 1793 with an exhibition of 537 paintings, the majority of the works being royal and confiscated church property. Because of structural problems with the building, the museum was closed from 1796 until 1801. The collection was increased under Napoleon and the museum was renamed Musée Napoléon, but after Napoleon's abdication, many works seized by his armies were returned to their original owners. The collection was further increased during the reigns of Louis XVIII and Charles X, and during the Second French Empire the museum gained 20,000 pieces. Holdings have grown steadily through donations and bequests since the Third Republic. The collection is divided among eight curatorial departments: Egyptian Antiquities; Near Eastern Antiquities; Greek, Etruscan, and Roman Antiquities; Islamic Art; Sculpture; Decorative Arts; Paintings; Prints and Drawings.
The Musée du Louvre contains approximately 500,000 objects and displays 35,000 works of art in eight curatorial departments with more than 60,600 m2 (652,000 sq ft) dedicated to the permanent collection. The Louvre exhibits sculptures, objets d'art, paintings, drawings, and archaeological finds. At any given point in time, approximately 38,000 objects from prehistory to the 21st century are being exhibited over an area of 72,735 m2 (782,910 sq ft), making it the largest museum in the world. It received 8.9 million visitors in 2023, 14 percent more than in 2022, but still below the 10.1 million visitors in 2018, making it the most-visited museum in the world.
Jacques-Albert Senave (1758–1823) was a Flemish painter mainly active in Paris during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. He is known for his genre scenes, history paintings, landscapes, city views, market scenes and portraits.

About The Cultists I
How some members of The Church of Mondstadt joined the cult, what they did in the cult, and where they went when they were told to leave.
The Brainrot that started it all
Ft. Aether, Albedo, Amber, Barbara, Bennett, Diluc, Diona, Eula, Fischl, Jean, Kaeya, Klee, Lisa, Mika, Mona, Noelle, Razor, Rosaria, Sucrose, Venti
Tw: Cults, Children being in cults, Child Abuse
Published: September 3, 2023
Words: 1,704 (1,667 w/o the names)
Pages: 5.1 (4.8 w/o the names)
Aether Via: Was introduced to it by his sister and daughter shortly after waking from a five-year coma. But didn't join until two months later, when he met a third member of the cult; a police officer named Amber. Shortly after joining, he became the one and only mailman for the cult. Or rather, one of the only mailmen, as he prefers to take his daughter with him. Because he doesn't have a car, and it takes a day's walk to get from one compound to another. Was one of the few members that didn't get their own place when everyone was told to disperse. Currently has no job.
Albedo Kriedeprinz: Was introduced to it by his mother's friend Alice, during his college years. Joined shortly after graduating, and after a visit to the Temple of Liyue, he dedicated himself to perfectly recreating Their Grace's appearance. He learned several different forms of art to do so, from crafting stained glass portraits to carving concrete statues. When told to get his own place, he got a two-bedroom suburbian house between his job, a park, and the Church, to make things convenient for him and Klee. Currently works as the Head Forensic Scientist for the Teyvat City Police Department.
Amber Outrider: Was introduced to it by her superiors, Jean and Kaeya, when she was in police training. Joined shortly after her grandfather went missing. She didn't have much to do there, until some teens and kids moved in, which is when she appointed herself as their unofficial PE teacher. A job that she continues after she's commanded to move off-property. She moved into an apartment near the heart of Teyvat City, which she shares with her friend Eula, and Eula's friend Yanfei. Currently works as a patrol officer for the Teyvat City Police Department.
Barbara Pegg: Was introduced to it by her sister Jean, and a nomad named Alice, not long before she became an idol. But didn't officially join until her father found out and kicked her out of the house for "Betraying God". After quite some time there, she became both the Deaconess for the Church, and a nurse for the people living there. Is one of the few that didn't move off the compound when everyone was told to move out. Currently works as an Idol on YouTube.
Bennett: Was introduced to the cult by his childhood friend Barbara, and joined after running away from his abusive foster home. When he's not studying or sparring, he's either wandering the fields that surround the Church, or exploring the distant forest behind it. Due to still being a minor, he never moved out of the Church. Currently has no job.
Diluc Ragnvindr: Was introduced to the cult by his boss, Varka, but didn't join until years later, when the Church of Snezhnaya saved his life. He stayed there for a bit, before discovering that several old friends were members of the Church of Mondstadt. That, combined with the fact that the Church of the first-born was closer to the Dawn Winery than that of the seventh-born, inspired him to move compounds. Sells wine to the cult at a 75% discount. When he was told to get his own place, he simply had a small renovation done to the Dawn Winery and moved in there. Currently works as the CEO of Dawn Winery, and the Restauranteur of a bar named Angels Share.
Diona Katzlein: Was introduced into the cult by Kaeya after he saved her from a fierce winter storm, and joined them shortly after. She was disturbed to learn that the majority of the members drank alcohol, but pleased to learn that none of them were abusive like her dad. She has taken it upon herself to create a drink so disgusting that it would turn her new family away from drinking, but has yet to do so. Due to her age, she never moved off the compound. Currently has no job.
Eula Lawrence: Was introduced to the cult by Amber shortly after becoming a cop, and joined after discovering how geniunely nice a majority of the members were. Teaches the teens how to navigate the wild after noticing them go on multi-day adventures. Gets an apartment for her, Amber and Yanfei to move into in Teyvat City. Currently works as the Captain of Teyvat City's Fourth Precinct.
Fischl Luftschloss-Nerfidort: Was introduced to the cult by Bennett, and joined when she realized that it would surround her with kindred spirits. Was almost overjoyed that they let her crow familiar, Oz, stay with her inside the Church as opposed to outside of it. Often goes on adventures with the other teens, which aid her in remembering tales from her homeworld. Still lives in the Church. Currently has no job.
Jean Gunnhildr: Was introduced to the cult by Varka, but didn't join until after a curropt cop drove her childhood friend away. After joining, she slowly but surely worked her way up to High Priestess of the Church of Mondstadt, and as a reward, became one of the few people in the cult to know who Barbatos was disguised as. Her position as High Priestess gave her permission to stay at the Church when everyone was told to move out, but she decided to get a house in Teyvat's suburbs with Lisa. Currently works as the Deputy Police Chief in Teyvat City.
Kaeya Alberich: Similarly to his brother, he was introduced to the cult by Varka, but didn't join until after Crepus's death, when the Church of Mondstadt saved his life. Out of all the members, he spends the least amount of time on the compound, as he's either busy working, or busy spreading the word of Their Grace. Got himself a one-bedroom apartment when he was told to move out. Currently works as the Captain of Teyvat City's First Precinct.
Klee Hexenzirkl: Was born into and raised by the cult, although it did take her a few years to become an official member, as no one knew what kind of Vision to give her. Spends most of her time creating fun shows for the other members, all of which are loud, colorful, and accidentally destructive. Is the only- if not, then one of the only- members to move out of the Church when the adults received the command. Currently has no job.
Lisa Minci: Was introduced to the cult by her old college classmate, Cyno, but didn't join until after she met and befriended Jean. Is the founder of the Church of Mondstadt's library, and spends her time either managing it, or teaching the teens and kids inside of it. Is currently renting a house in Teyvat City's suburbs with Jean. Currently works as the Head Librarian in the Teyvat City Library.
Mika Schmidtt: Was introduced to the cult by his brother's, Huffman, coworkers back when he was a teen. But he didn't join until after he graduated from police training. His job at the cult is to scout for new members to join, and report all he finds on them to people like Varka and Kaeya. Currently lives in a studio apartment in Teyvat City. Currently works as a patrol officer for the TCPD.
Mona Megistus: Was saved from homelessness by the cult- The Church of Fontain, to be specific- who helped her get back onto her feet. But later moved into the Church of Mondstadt to spare herself from the COF's High Priest. Spends her time predicting either day-to-day events, or bigger, slow-moving ones. Currently lives in a studio apartment in Teyvat City. Currently works as an astrology/zodiac writer for a news company known as The Steambird.
Noelle Maiden: Was introduced to the cult by Jean and Kaeya while at the police academy, but didn't join the cult until she failed her training for the third time in a row. Spends most of her time either cleaning the Church of Mondstadt, or cooking food for her fellow Worshipers. When told to move out, she got herself a job as a full-time nanny for a rich family in Teyvat City. She lives with them in their penthouse.
Razor: Was introduced to the cult when Barbatos and his followers chose their Church of Mondstadt, but didn't join until he befriended Varka and Lisa. Spends his time showing the other teens, and sometimes the children, how to navigate the forest behind the Church. Never moved out because of his age, but technically never moved in, either, as he prefers sleeping in the woods.
Rosaria Church: Was introduced to the cult by Varka, but didn't join until they saved her from a life of crime. She adored the cult's endless kindess to her, and decided to repay it by becoming the first nun of the Church of Mondstadt. But after Morax's disappearance, she was contracted by Varka and Jean to keep the cult safe. Currently still lives in the Church with Barabara and the children.
Sucrose Bio: Was introduced to the cult through Albedo during her college years, but didn't join until after she lost her only two friends. Is constantly trying to invent things to make her fellow Believer's lives easier, or constantly trying to improve the things she's already invented. Is currently living with her coworker, Timaeus, and works as a Forensic Pathologist for the TCPD.
Venti Himmel: Is the first member of Creator's Grace, and was granted the position of Anemo Archon, a vessel of the deceased firstborn, Mondstadt, due to recruiting thirty new members within a month. And is also the only one of the only still-remaining Archons. Prefers to keep his identity secret so he can a) relax more and b) get a closer and more personal look at his follower's lives. As the Archon of the Church of Mondstadt, he was allowed to stay, but decided to move out to keep the appearance of him being 'just another member' up. Is currently living in a homeless shelter, and gains his money by performing street art.

Art Confiscation and Transferrals During the French Revolution
Tumblr media
A new source of art treasures was provided by the confiscation of church property and by the decision to transfer objets d'art from several royal palaces to the Louvre. A valuable collection of paintings, including Leonardo da Vinci’s La Gioconda (Mona Lisa), was acquired from the royal palace at Versailles, but not without the resistance of the local municipality. Under the direction of a commission temporaire des arts, a collection of furniture, porcelain, and paintings of varying merit was assembled, thus converting the Louvre into a kind of warehouse. In the spring of 1796 the German visitor F. J. L. Meyer found one gallery of the Louvre open to the public. This was filled with a miscellaneous collection of objects ranging from scientific instruments to tables, and his impression was one of “indescribable chaos.” The gallery was closed later that year.
Under the Convention there began a systematic policy of confiscation of art treasures from territory conquered by the French armies. In 1794 the first convoy of paintings from Belgium arrived in Paris, providing a magnificent representation of the Flemish school. The Décade philosophique described this event as the arrival of the paintings in their “true country” where they would be displayed and appreciated. It was fitting that Paris should be the European metropolis of the arts.

while the criticism of glass onion being a bourgeois art piece hegemonically negotiating hatred of the 1% into standard discourse is understandable, i think it's important to remember that rian johnson and daniel craig and whoever you want to criticise for making "performative" art about the systemic ways in which the ultrawealthy maintain power and specifically marginalize women of color are far closer in wealth to the average american than they ever will be to elon musk or any billionaire. daniel craig's net worth is $8 million dollars. his WHOLE net worth. you have to multiply that by 19,500 to get anywhere near elon musk's net worth of $156,000,000,000. and that's after he's lost $100bn this YEAR.
it's true that people shouldn't count watching movies as activism and definitely shouldn't see media produced by huge corporations as praxis, but that doesn't mean what political standpoints they do contain lack value or are disingenuous. the human mind is literally incapable of conceptualizing numbers after a certain point, so it's easy to think of hollywood rich and billionaire rich as similar, because both kinds of people live lives that most of us could barely dream of with privileges and access to resources that we will never have. but the difference between a millionaire and a billionaire is the difference between being able to make a movie starring daniel craig and being able to bankroll dozens of politicians and buy one of the largest social media websites used by millions of people daily on a whim
as "rich people bad" movies go, glass onion deals with it REALLY well. the scene at the end when helen destroys miles's house demonstrates a very nuanced understanding of how billionaires maintain power; blanc recognizes and tells helen that even though they found the truth, they can't do anything legally because miles burned their only physical evidence and the courts will unequivocally side with the billionaire. again. so in lieu of any justice system that will work, helen starts breaking shit. but miles doesn't even care that much, because what's a dozen million dollar glass art pieces to a man who accrues that in interest every minute? even when everyone else joins in, he doesn't care. it's annoying, but it doesn't mean anything. so the other "disruptors" stop after they've gotten their minimal catharsis, having done no real damage to his reputation or, frankly, their reliance on him.
helen burning the mona lisa to take him down, and that being presented as the best option, is really significant. as movies go, taking the stance of "destroying priceless art and private property is not only justified and moral but effective in the face of a system that gives you no other option for justice" is pretty damn rare.
it's true that if glass onion or other high budget films actually tangibly threatened the system in any way they would never get funded or see the light of day. but the cool thing about stories, and about art, is that you can't predict the effects they have on people. anti-billionaire bourgeois art isn't direct action, it isn't activism, and it isn't even important politically, but that doesn't mean it has no effect on the discourse whatsoever and can't be important to how people see the 1%

my problem w glass onion is that it said 'idea smart but guy dumb', when whatever janelle monae scribbled on that napkin looked incomprehensible. if you want to extend the musk metaphor, hyperloop travel in a modern urbanizing world is a dumb idea, fully automated driving is a dumb idea. there’s simply no reason to give alpha ANY credit....there are better ways of satirizing elon musk’s success than ‘he stole a good idea’ (namely, focusing on all the dumb desperate idiots comprising the international financial class looking to get rid of their surplus capital SOMEWHERE like hot potato because the capitalist machine needs to be keep running!)
and I lied I have 2 problems. see, at the executive level, andi would have been raking it in. you’re telling me she lost all her money in the court case to live in some modest sympathetic suburban home where she pours her own guests tea? you’re telling me the edward norton character didn’t settle quietly so as to not frighten the stock market and instead controversially carved her out in a public court? i mean her implied complicity in all of the klear stuff up until the moment of signing the big deal + her estrangement from helen (who seems to bear the general burdens of a working class life but does not seem to have gotten an assist from her sister) + her hanging about these assholes makes her a total asshole to me. I get why helen wants to solve her murder, I get why its important to establish andi’s intellectual property in order to establish motive for the murder, I just don’t understand why that last is supposed to be cathartic. again, the burning mona lisa, very cathartic. but am i supposed to feel emotional about backstabbing venture-capitalist legislator-buying weirdos stealing each others bad ideas and having public cat fights over their shitty start up, just because one of them happens to be smart and have a fabulous sense of fashion

Trump said he is allowed to inflate the value of his properties because they are Mona Lisa properties.
What is a Mona Lisa property?
that’s called figurative language. Trump was saying his property is the “Mona Lisa” of properties because of its value and uniqueness.
It’s a way of speaking that is very common in English so if you have a good grasp of English then that should have been very obvious to you.
Now would you mind translating the quotes below for me, please?
