Malgré que le pachira soit une plante tropicale, il peut être cultivé en tant que plante ornementale d'intérieur. On l'appelle également Châtaignier de Guyane, Money tree, Arbre de la fortune ou bien encore Pachira aquatica qui est son nom scientifique. Il fait partie de la famille des Malvacées qui compte 24 espèces. Sa culture est assez facile et son entretien modéré. Son besoin en eau est moyen. Il s'agit d'une plante à vaporiser. Sa croissance peut être rapide s'il se plait à l'emplacement que vous lui aurez choisi dans votre intérieur. Le pachira s'est invité dans nos régions très récemment. Il se trouve dans certaines jardineries muni d'un seul tronc, mais la plupart du temps, ce sera 5 branches tressées et enracinées dans un pot qui formeront le tronc. En règle générale, les plantes d'intérieur que l'on peut trouver chez nous, proviennent essentiellement de l'espèce Pachira aquatica. Dans nos intérieurs, le pachira peut atteindre une hauteur de 2 mètres pendant que dans son milieu naturel il atteint une hauteur de 15 à 20 mètres.

Choisissez-lui un emplacement dans votre intérieur) très lumineux. Évitez impérativement le soleil direct. Une exposition légèrement tamisée est l'idéale. Pendant la saison hivernale où le soleil est moins dense, déplacez-le pour qu'il profite de ce dernier qui n'est pas brulant. Évitez également les sources de chaleurs, tels que les radiateurs. Le pachira adore vivre dans une atmosphère humide. Il peut supporter un grand nombre de température sauf s'il gèle. En fait, son grand ennemi c'est le froid quand les température commencent à être négative. Afin de ne pas risquer de se tromper, jusqu’à 12 degrés, le pachira peut vivre normalement. Quand vous achèterez votre pachira (en principe vendu en pot), il sera impératif de lui laisser suffisamment d'espace pour pouvoir se développer dans de bonnes conditions. Je vous conseille donc de le rempoter en déposant au fond de votre contenant une poignée ou deux de billes d'argile afin de favoriser un bon drainage. Utilisez un substrat à base de terreau horticole pour plante d'intérieur.

Le pachira ne doit pas manquer d'eau. Surveillez méticuleusement les apports d'eau. Mais attention, un excès d'eau peut lui être fatal. Après chaque arrosage, videz la coupelle qui se trouve sous le pot. Autre solution : Disposez des billes d'argile dans une coupelle et remplissez cette dernière avec de l'eau de telle manière que les billes d'argile dépassent le niveau de cette dernière. De cette façon, le pachira absorbera la quantité d'eau nécessaire à son bon développement sans que son système racinaire soit en contact avec l'eau. Si vous préférez utiliser la première solution, je vous conseille de laisser se dessécher le substrat entre deux arrosages. Pendant la saison estivale, arrosez-le régulièrement. Réduisez les apports d'eau pendant la saison hivernale. Bassinez régulièrement son feuillage à l'aide d'un pulvérisateur. Utilisez un engrais (de préférence naturel) une fois par semaine du début du mois d'avril jusqu'au mois de septembre. Effectuez cette même opération pendant la saison hivernale mais à raison d'une fois par mois. A chaque saison printanière, rempotez-le avec un contenant de 5 centimètres de plus en diamètre au minimum. Quand votre pachira sera trop imposant pour le rempoter, je vous conseille d'effectuer un surfaçage, ce qui vous permet de changer une partie du substrat. En ce qui concerne sa taille, effectuez cette opération de préférence au moment du rempotage. Supprimez les branches mal placées (entrecroisées par exemple) ou celles qui sont trop longues. Le but de la taille est de conserver au pachira une silhouette harmonieuse.

parasites & maladies

Si les feuilles ont tendance à chuter, il s'agit la plupart du temps soit d'un manque de lumière ou d'un coup de froid. Si votre pachira a tendance à s'affaiblir, il peut être colonisé par la mouche blanche (aleurode) et par la cochenille. Pulvérisez de l'huile de colza afin d’étouffer les cochenilles. Et pour éloigner la mouche blanche, pulvérisez du purin d'orties.

multiplication

Quand vous taillerez votre pachira à la saison printanière, profitez-en pour récupérer des tiges ou des extrémités de branches d'une dizaine de centimètres de longueur. Cela vous permet d'effectuer des boutures. Supprimez le feuillage sur la partie inférieure juste en dessous d'un œil (départ d'une nouvelle feuille). Trempez la base de vos boutures dans de l'hormone de bouturage. Ensuite, remplissez des godets d'un mélange de sable et de terreau à parts égales). Piquez vos boutures dans ce substrat (une bouture par godet). Recouvrez tout ce petit monde d'un voile de forçage. Vous pouvez également utiliser une mini-serre. Dans les deux cas, maintenez une atmosphère humide sans pour autant inonder le substrat. Quand vous constatez que vos boutures sont enracinées, repiquez-les dans des pots remplis de terreau pour plantation.

So some stuff has happened, some of the loans I listed before have been paid, and I missed a few things, so I'm making a new post!

So, we still haven't heard about Section 8, and while I'm grateful for the shelter housing and feeding us, there's been some pretty toxic activity on my floor and I'm at my wit's end. I'm not sleeping well, I have constant headaches from grinding my teeth, and my blood pressure (which is already high and I'm already on meds for it) keeps being high when I get it checked. So we need to get housing with or without the Section 8 voucher as soon as possible.

Now, I have a list of low-income apartments all over North County. While not ideal, we have also heard of a complex of studio apartments available for $1400 which give preferential treatment to shelter occupants. But the problem is that I not only have a bunch of payday loans to pay, but I also have a payment on a two-month loan, a five-month loan, a six-month loan, and a year-long loan that eat up my entire income until I at least pay off the first three. My mom only gets $1300 and my daughter isn't on disability yet. So we can't even afford the studio until October and we'll have been kicked out of the shelter long before then.

I can probably cover the remaining payday loans and this month's payment for the two-month loan and still pay for the storage units. But I need to pay off whatever I can on the other loans, and the longer I wait the more interest that compiles. So I need a lot more than I was asking for before and I need it quickly to cover at least all of this month's payments while I work on paying off the totals of the bigger loans.

This is the list of payments I need to make as it stands now:

$300 for my loan from Ace Cash Express (due by May 2nd)

$300 for my mom's loan from Ace Cash Express (due May 2nd)

$408 for my loan payment from Ascend Loans (due May 3rd)

$277 for my loan payment from Greenline Loans (due May 3rd)

$177 for my loan payment from Green Arrow Loans (due May 3rd)

$148 for my loan payment to Possible Loans (due May 3rd)

$148 for my mom's loan payment to Possible Loans (due May 3rd)

$321.80 for my mom's loan from Moneylion (due by May 15th)

$285 for my Moneytree loan (due by May 25th)

$285 for my mom's Moneytree loan (due by May 26th)

I can't make partial payments on any of these loans except the Moneylion loans my mom has. I need the full amount for the payment to pay it off early, and for the four non-payday loans, I can't make an early payment but if I can cover the payments in my bank account with donations I'm good.

The Ascend loan was for $1,000. The Greenline loan was for $500. The Green Arrow loan was for $400. The Possible loans are $300 each, coming out as two payments of $148 (one this May, one in June) per loan. So I'm going to set two goals: covering all of the above payments and then covering the bigger loans as a whole throughout the month of May.

I can't take much more of the toxicity at the shelter at the moment, though I have hopes some of it will subside if the most toxic resident on my floor leaves this week like he's threatening to, but yeah. We just need to get all this paid off and get into housing of our own, even if it's just a studio for now. I'm including the $35 I got from a GFM towards the current totals because I spent all the rest of the money I had and I still haven't gotten that donation in my account yet.

IMMEDIATE GOAL: $47/$2650

Goal has been met! However, the car is acting up, so we have to take it to our mechanic tomorrow. I may still need some help.
