as we enter the start of a semester and the dreaded Hour of Making Friends us upon us... if ur ever at a loss for what to say in one of those weird social situations where you only vaguely-know people, one of my favorite questions to ask is "what is your favorite food crime." a food crime is like the food combination that you love that other people find revolting. press them to take it further than pineapple on pizza, that's rote. food crimes is a good topic that has many benefits as it turns out all people are degenerates and also it will give you some cool ideas to try out later in the privacy of your own degenerate kitchen

the other good thing to ask is "okay but has anyone here ever been someplace haunted" bc it turns out if you ask most people directly they don't believe in ghosts, but many people are like "oh yeah i lived in a haunted house. ghosts aren't real tho"

#my food crime is that i regularly make a “pasta and tuna” situation that has somehow gotten even more evil and degenerate over time.#it is a ''white wine reduction'' (it's just white wine and garlic powder & seasoning)#and tuna from a can.#and plain pasta.#if i have the spoons i will actually chop garlic for it but this tends to be my comfort food for a REALLY bad day #bc its super easy to make:#boil pasta. drain. put into bowl for later. into same pot u used for pasta.#put tuna (with oil/water from can). let fry a little for like 2-3 min. put in whatever amount of wine. season to taste.#the tuna will get a little crisp on it which is nice. important side note:#this began as a Bolognese sauce.#and one day i had to sub for tuna. i know. not ideal. i cried about it too.#somehow over time it is now its own little evil thing. i would never make someone else eat it. it is beautiful.#but yeah i don't even stir the pasta in afterwards i just slap pasta into serving bowl #slap this ''''''sauce'''''''' on top #molto bene #(i really can cook fairly well btw. this is a food crime. not a suggestion of skill or ability)#(i LOVE baking but when i cook for myself. the autism is obvious. bc i just don't understand the point of most of the steps)#(.... i can just eat the deli meat out of the bag. it is protein. i don't even have to like it. i just have to eat enough calories.)#(also i used to cook MUCH more before this apartment which is so small that i can stretch my arms out and overreach the counter length.)#(.... i'm 5.2. so.)

the progression from "there's a morning snack and a midday snack" and "20 bucks for pizza" buck looking after his friend's kid to "bobby's famous lasagne: 6 types of cheese cooked to perfection" buck cooking for his family to "that's makes me your sous chef" teaching his kid how to cook is making me go so feral.

#going from two separate things - like how normal friends who aren't co-parenting would organised it - to the most domestic thing ever #to being the good responsible parent and making sure he eats real food before cookies #AND and the motifs that've been established: teaching to cook as father/son bonding and cooking food as a demonstration of love #im UNWELLLLL #buckley diaz family #911 abc #right from the pilot buck has had an intense care for children (but was also immature himself)#and we've seen him grow into a person who is literally becoming a father. #I've never had doritos myself so I have no point of reference #I think they sell them here nowadays but it's a fairly new thing and I don't eat a lot of chips #they had spices in the past but they were extremely expensive #I think most of them had to be imported from South/Southeast Asia #India in particular #few could afford such luxury goods but if you could serve people spicy food it was a mark of wealth #so historically a lot of upper class dishes were extra flavorful #potentially to an overpowering degree maybe #it was a status thing #a dorito wouldn't kill him but I've mentioned he secretly tends to favor somewhat bland and unthreatening foods #that won't set off his sensory issues #he'll eat the various nutmeg cinnamon clove saffron ginger creations people serve to him because declining would be a massive faux pas #but it's not an enjoyable experience #answered #anonymous #give him some light broth and a little bit underseasoned chicken to eat with his watered down wine

#apparently english doesn't even have an established term for them so i'm not that surprised #but basically for many people with severe intellectual disabilities using individual signs without the proper sentence structure #that is obviously a part of sign languages #is a very important part of communicating #so yeah please criticize the gorilla and her handlers i literally don't care but there are actual people who actually use singular signs #and while it is not asl it's still important and it's still communication #edit:// and obviously it's not just people with intellectual disabilites; that's just the group i'm the most familiar with #but for example many non-verbal autistic kids use speech-supporting signs #and for them it's a very important part of communicating what they need #so idk stop acting like sign languages are the only languages on earth #where saying ''hunger eat food hunger'' doesn't communicate that you're hungry

i actually know about kirby outside the context of smash bros or memes this makes me better than literally everyone i know irl and i am not joking

#i know him. hes the funny pink buall. his best friend is a penguin. he can't sing. he loves to explore. he is friendly to a fault.#he is a gourmet and a fledgling chef. he is a jack of all trades and a master of one at a time. he narrates each copy ability for you.#it is stated by one of his more analytical and cold enemies that he has infinite potential and assumes this is purely because he is strong.#but in truth his greatest strength is explicitly his kind heart and ability to turn his enemies into friends and villains into heroes.#he's afraid of bugs. he has no arch-enemies because they either die or become part of his ever-growing circle of friends.#he's like a shonen protagonist with a pastel aesthetic. except he's far more polite than most!#he likes to eat but (and i think this is extremely important) he actively tastes and savors the food he eats too.#he's altruistic and heroic to the point that his own kindness once took physical form to guide his (temporarily) fractured form to safety.#he has so much love in his heart that every villain who does die is presented as tragic just as much as it is cathartic.#he has a fondness for the simple pleasures of life and one of his major major strengths is getting people to appreciate em too.#he's a fun little fellow who's significantly brighter than everyone gives him credit for.#and he's even canonically nonbinary!!

I'm not a psychologist or a politician or anything approaching an expert about literally anything except a few specific video games but I feel like so many people wouldn't be agonizing over the moral implications of one (1) vote if we as the less-than-uppest-of-upper-crust had the ability to meaningfully affect change in ways other than 'spend money/do not spend money, vote for the red or blue tie'

tricked myself into braving the grocery store this morning by envisioning in great detail the amazing breakfast sandwich i could make if only i had everything bagels extra sharp cheddar cheese and breakfast sausage patties and then came home and made the breakfast sandwich. dreams can come true
