Ja-Kal from Mummies Alive! is an unsung hero, a totally underrated, top-tier cartoon dad. The kids need to know!

The show doesn't give us any ages for the mummies, but there are moments it's implied Rath is older, so I've put him at nine years older than Ja-kal in my fic. While aware of each other, they don't really start to interact until after the battle against Apep.

Here Rath, newly risen to Master rank despite his young age, gives some advice to an adolescent Ja-kal.

Some time ago I stumbled upon artwork from 90s animated series called Mummies Alive! And I realised this was that animated show I was completely obsessed with as six year old kid. Characters were one of the first ever I drew and I recall sitting Saturday mornings for weeks in front of family tv trying to catch glimpses of characters in order to redraw them.

So here are some fresh sketches from huge nostalgia trip. I gotta rewatch that cartoon at some point. That's my childhood right here.

I'm watching Mummies Alive and the most unrealistic part of the show is that all the dudes didn't know Nefertina was a woman. Granted, she had her hair covered but they didn't notice the breasts and consider she might be a woman?
