Genius Invocation TGC released a card of... you!
Monstatd Liyue Inazuma Sumeru Other
Characters: Cyno, Dehya, Nilou, Collei, Tighnari, Alhaitham, Kaveh, Nahida, Jeht
Genre: Fluff, crack!, maybe a tiny sprinkle of angst for some characters
Warnings: None... well it talks about your card being defeated....
Summary: Genius Invocation TCG has taken all of Teyvat by storm! People from all over have decks of cards; ask almost anyone and they'll be down to play a round. You earned great renown from being a famous adventurer… or maybe you're a travelling merchant, or a bard from Monstadt. Maybe you're a scholar from Sumeru, a Knight of Favonius, a Tenryou Commissioner or even a member of the Liyue Qixing. Whatever you do, you garnered the attention of the creators of Genius Invocation! How do your favourite genshin characters react to a new card, of none other than you, being released?
Notes: WOWIE okay so this might be one of my more ambitious projects! I'm going to make a series that will hopefully include every playable character and even some beloved NPCs! I'll keep them as short headcannons because there's a lot of characters to go through, and I'll do my best to make them non-repetitive.
Tumblr media
•Cyno would show off your card to everyone, proud to have it in his deck. He would always play it, it would be his trump card. His entire deck is based around your card
•He would actually get jealous if he saw someone else using your card.
•Often uses his own card alongside yours… what? the combos are an instant win!
•Definitely owns more than one of your card both regular and shiny. One for playing and one for his collection.
•Blatantly tells people they don’t know how to use your card properly, or gives them advice on how to play better if they lose with you.
»»————- ♡ -————««
•Dehya is impressed you got your own card. She is happy for you and will tell everyone that it’s the best card.
•She uses your card often and will rub it in the face of everyone she beats. “See! This is the strongest card out there!”
•Jokes about keeping you in her pocket… literally. Carries it in a different pocket than the rest of her best because it’s not just a card it’s like a little part of you with her.
•Gets annoyed whenever people knock out your card. She’ll tell them they’ll regret it and then pays them back tenfold. If she loses your card it won’t be in vain.
»»————- ♡ -————««
•Nilou never really played cards, but seeing that there was one based off you? Well now she HAS to try it.
•Would join the theatre's game nights and be super excited to try your card!
•I feel like she would get pretty competitive with it, she would try so hard to keep your card alive. She even sacrifices her other cards to save you.
•If she loses she won’t get discouraged. She’ll practice more so she can win next time, she doesn’t want to let you your card down!
»»————- ♡ -————««
•Collei would be sooooo excited to see a card of you! She thinks it’s so cool and is happy that you both have cards!
•Would be very hyped to play a round using your card but if she loses…
•She would be so sad if your card got knocked out. Would apologize to you and would be too scared to use your card again.
•If she did use your card again she would always sacrifice her card first. (Please give her a hug and tell her it’s just a game and that she could never let you down.)
»»————- ♡ -————««
•Tighnari would be intrigued about your card. He would be curious to see what the card’s abilities are, though he still thinks yours are cooler in real life.
•He wouldn’t use your card all the time, only when a situation requires it. He’d be careful and tactful using it, but it always pays off.
•He never loses when he uses your card. Some might think your card is overpowered or his lucky charm, but he just knows how to maximize its strengths.
•Would be a bit jokingly peeved that you got a care before him.
»»————- ♡ -————««
•Alhaitham wouldn’t react much on the surface, much like anything else, but he would understand the significance this holds for you. After all, of all the people in Teyvat there aren’t that many cards.
•Would feel a small amount of pride for you, and he would play your card the next time he begrudgingly accepts to play cards with the boys.
•He’s annoyingly objective about the strengths and weaknesses of your card. But when he knocks out all of his opponents in only a few rounds… well, you’re just glad he’s using your card well.
•If anyone calls favouritism for him using your card so often he just shrugs it off, saying your card simply synergizes the best with other cards, allowing for many different combinations to win in any scenario.
•Definitely gets jealous annoyed when he sees others using your card because only he can use your card he claims others don’t know how to properly use it.
•Bonus: Kaveh would ask you to confiscate your card from Alhaitham's deck so he stops losing to him on game nights LMAO
»»————- ♡ -————««
•Kaveh would be SO hyped about your card and would make sure EVERYONE else knows that.
•He would win 1 (one) round with your card and claim it’s the best card ever and it’s his lucky card and he’ll win every game with it
•Then he goes on a 5 game losing streak.
•He would be bummed about it and would probably ask you to bless it or imbue it with good luck or something.
•Would actually do some looking into your card’s abilities and what other cards go best with it just so he can prove to you show others that it IS a good card and he can win with it!!!
»»————- ♡ -————««
•Nahida would thinks it’s so cute that they made a little card of you and that it makes you so happy!
•Because of her curiosity and because she accidentally saw into your mind and knows that it would make you happy she would try out the game.
•Goes without saying that she would win… but she would probably get really into Genius Invocation after that.
•Starts building a deck and challenges people whenever she has free time.
»»————- ♡ -————««
•Jeht would love to have a card of you! She always keeps it with her and whenever she plays against random travellers or merchants that she encounter she uses your card. It’s like having you with her 🥺
•If she won with your card she would be so happy and would jump around but if she lost…
•At first she would feel like you betrayed her.. but then she takes it out on her opponent. I love her but she’s a bit of a sore loser.
•Probably just looks at the card when she’s lonely and she misses you. She talks to the card and tells stories of her journey as if she were talking to you, and promises she’ll tell you in person one day. I love her so much her story is so sad she deserves so much better please let me hug you and be with you always omg

Struck with an art idea so vivid of Neuvillette and Eclair fighting side by side.
Suddenly hit with the knowledge that Eclair’s water gun is absolutely nothing compared to Neuvillette's super soaker 9000.

flufftober day 14: "i hate it." / "no, you don't." / wanderer, nahida
there's only one word he has to describe it: atrocious.
nahida pouts. "that's a rather harsh word to say, don't you think?"
did he say that aloud? wanderer's scowl lessens to a frown, but his reply is, "it's the most horrendous thing i've ever laid my eyes on. do you really expect me to wear it?"
"i won't force you, but if you'd like..."
he didn't expect his return to sumeru city to include an overexcited archon proclaiming that she had a gift for him, supposedly handmade under the tutelage of a local hatmaker. it's a purple hat, the same color scheme of a certain cat that's been trailing him, with the same pathetic eyes, whiskers, ears, and a tiny tail at the back. it's utterly distasteful compared to his own.
"if i had to choose between fighting the fatui harbingers all at the same time or wearing that," he says, "i'd rather fight."
she lowers the hat. "is it really that bad? i worked so hard on it, too..."
wanderer folds his arms and looks away, stealing a glance out of the corner of his eye. it's only then that he notices the tiny bandages wrapped around her fingers, the largest one around her wrist. the sight is strangely familiar, and he feels the weight of his doll in his sleeve.
a mosaic of memories flood him, where he spent days and nights with a kind-hearted granny, patient voice carving a warm atmosphere as he pricked himself with his needle and thread. even his doll-like hands weren't immune to the scars of unpracticed finesse.
his thoughts scatter at a curious meow. scara has jumped on the table to paw at the hat, tail waving in front of wanderer. nahida reaches forward to put the hat on his head. "he looks cute!"
"it's too big." the hat's brim falls over the cat's eyes, making him meow and spin to shake it off, sending it across the floor. wanderer stands to retrieve it, scowl aimed at the furball. "watch it."
he puts it on the table, swipes it over his head when scara stretches his paws toward it. at an angle, he can see the crooked seams and uneven stitching. he wouldn't call himself an expert, but after learning how to craft his own companion, he's amassed a few tricks. "why'd you choose the furball for the hat design?"
nahida takes the last piece of baklava. "it was easier. i hadn't seen you in a while and i didn't want to get the colors wrong. there's nothing wrong with having a fun design for a hat, is there?"
"who is going to wear it?" he scoffs.
"if you don't, i will!" she snatches the hat back to put on her head. with her ponytail in the way, it sits unevenly, a dark contrast to her light hair and floral accessories. "how do i look?"
"awful." he reaches over to flip it onto his own head, only mildly surprised that it fits. he tucks his hair behind his ears and adjusts the brim. it doesn't have the same comfort as his regular hat, but it feels familiar.
nahida, on the other hand, giggles. "you look good with it!"
there's a mirror in the corner of the room. he twists around toward it, eyes narrowed at his own reflection. "i hate it."
"no, you don't."
"truly atrocious."
"i'm sure lots of people don't think so."
he rolls his eyes. "they have bad taste." and yet, he keeps it on until the tea runs out and their snacks are reduced to crumbs.

"I... I'm sorry? But I don't think we've met before. However, you don't feel like a bad person." Nahida instinctively goes to grab one of Neka's tails. "You also have a super fluffy tail, and nobody with a fluffy tail can be a bad person." Flawed logic, but go on.
Tumblr media
"If you don't mind me asking, what is your name? I should at least know the name of the person who suddenly picked me up unexpectedly, no? You clearly know who I am, so I don't think I need to introduce myself."

@apocryphis: do you ever say no? (to kaveh, from nahida, probably a little worried vbfhjb)
Tumblr media
The question takes him a little by surprise - partly because he hadn't heard the archon approach. Though, given his level of focus on his current project, that's not entirely surprising. Once he settles into that ironclad concentration, it can be difficult to break free of it. Honestly, it's amazing that he even acknowledged that someone was speaking to him.
He steps back from the canvas in front of him, one brush perched delicately between his fingers, another tucked behind one ear. The sweeping lines before him might look random and disorganised to an inexperienced eye, but to the architect, they are concepts - early stage sketches that will, over time, become refined into the vision he holds within his mind.
Now, he turns at last to face Nahida. There's a sheepishness to the smile he offers her, as if he already knows he's likely to be lectured (fondly, with care) on his unhealthy work habits. As if it isn't the first time.
And it isn't.
Tumblr media
"I..." The brief attempt to lie is swiftly abandoned. When the answer is already written clearly across his face, what is the point of trying to deny it? "...No, I suppose I don't." The admission comes with a sigh, a weary sound of a long suffering artist. "But-,"
And here comes the excuse, as always.
"This is for a good cause!" He turns back to his canvas, to the chaotic strokes of his brush. "The library in the desert needs further expansions to fully realise its potential as a place of learning. I couldn't possibly refuse a request for more designs..."

This morning I've been reconsidering my stance in holding off when it comes about spoilers every time a new patch comes. Mainly because I've noticed that each person has their priorities when playing Genshin and what might me important to me (heavy lore 99% of the times), might not be for the next person and chances are that for example a questline such as the Aranara's has never been played even up until now by some. Meaning that even after all this time, talking about that questline would be spoilers for someone. Some might put more interest in events that are more lighthearted and include a large variety of characters and prioritize that over what I do, while I, even if usually I take a bit longer until I get to play those events (sometimes I don't, depending of time restrictions but also depending of my interest on things I see here and there) and sometimes I don't even play them myself and simply limit myself to what I see peeps talking and what I search deliberately to inform myself of.
Furthermore, I've noticed some people who would talk about recent things without a warning at all and nothing seems to happen (as it should imo, it's just this constant fear of mine which I should let go of). Related to myself now, I also realized thanks to the previous patch that this hype kind of dies down when waiting to comment things and it doesn't quite feel the same anymore, even if the content of what there is to transmit is essentially the same.
So in view of what I discussed here and more that are hard to put into words, I'm making the decision of establishing this blog as not spoiler free effective immediately. That is not to say that I will start bombarding the dash now with things I want to talk about, as these posts tend to take time to be written to begin with and by the time I finish putting all my thoughts in order and start posting, chances are that for a good portion of people it won't count as spoilers anymore. All in all, I want this experience to be less restrictive to myself, specially seeing people talking about spoilers without making mention that they are and nothing really happens.

remembered again how much I love nahida and wanderer. how both nahida and wanderer act as foils to each other's stories in the sumeru archon quest, how they both came from irminsul, how wanderer now acts like her kagemusha the way ei was to makoto thereby circling back to wanderer's original intended "purpose" and even mirroring his mother's role but this time to someone he chose for himself, how nahida is such a clever little archon but also so kind and sheltered and yet she just keeps winning in her gambits.
and now that everything is settling down, nahida goes on her big girl quests to solve nation-wide problems with people's dreams and primordial dragons while wanderer enters his slice-of-life era and goes off to college, gets roped into a cooking club, and writes essays to correct other people when he's bored. love that for them!!

lumine is irritated as all hell, and she doesn’t know why.
lambad’s tavern is lively. alcohol moves from one cup to another, glasses raised for a toast. there are shouts, laughter, friendly shoves on the shoulder, not so friendly gestures between friends, regulars, strangers. servers maneuver through the maze of tables and chairs to deliver dishes, collect cutlery, wipe down tables for the next party to occupy. even though she’s on the second floor, she can hear lambad greet guests and offer free drinks to rowdy customers.
she dips her charcoal-baked ajilenakh cake in jam and pops it into her mouth. her head rests on her hand, elbow propped on the table, partially to block out her companion’s pitched voice as she tries to advocate for slime condensate as a viable cooking ingredient. paimon has no chance of winning against wanderer, calm and collected across the table, sipping the bitterest tea that the tavern could mix.
this is not how lumine imagined her last night in sumeru to be. honestly, she doesn’t know what it would’ve looked like, but it could’ve been more…lavish. after all, she’s made so many connections – from the acting grand sage of the akademiya, general mahamatra, guardian of aaru village, to numerous others who greeted her with open arms. and now, it’s time to leave them behind.
it’s time to visit a new region, get tangled in new politics, fraternize new characters who won't hesitate to invite her back from time to time to celebrate holidays and festivals. since she's already known in fontaine, her journey might be easier...or not. it depends on the archon.
she sighs, eats the rest of her cake, picks up her glass to swirl the liquid around. when she takes a sip, a pair of emerald eyes watch her. she glances back. “what?”
nahida has her hands together on the table, seemingly unaffected by the heated debate on the other side. “your mind is troubled. your thoughts remind me of a sandstorm – you keep moving, but you’ve lost sight of where to go, and there doesn’t seem to be any other path but forward.”
lumine takes a sip, puts the glass down, waves at a server for a refill. when it’s filled to the brim, she picks it up again, stares at the glass. “you described it exactly.”
“do you know what can clear sandstorms?”
“some kind of jinni that i picked up in the desert?”
nahida shakes her head. “time. when the wind clears and the sun returns, so will your path.” she picks up a piece of baklava to crumble into smaller pieces. “a journey is never without detours; if you continue on a singular path, you’d never know what you could’ve discovered if you walked down another. it may lead you far from your objective, but it could also bring you closer to where you need to go.”
she offers her some baklava. lumine takes it. “you’re always welcome in sumeru. i’ll never forget what you’ve done for my people…and me. and he won’t admit it, but hat guy is also thankful, too.”
“don’t put words in my mouth.” he transitions from the debate to the conversation seamlessly, as if he were listening the entire time. lumine watches him fold his arms and scowl. “you’re finally leaving. it’s about time.”
“what, you’ll miss me?”
“are you kidding me? when you’re gone, i can finally commit atrocities. it’s been far too long.”
“he’s joking,” nahida quips.
“i figured.” lumine puts her glass down and leans forward. “what’s in fontaine?”
he becomes thoughtful, an unusual expression on his face. “it’s the nation of hydro. the archon is a brat, or so i heard, and their philosophies about justice are twisted. lots of open land and underwater ruins. they have their own problems, but what nation doesn’t?”
“perhaps you could focus on fontaine politics during your studies,” nahida says.
“gross. i already wrote enough papers.” he makes a face at her, but when he turns back to lumine, his eyes are serious. “their justice system is the best in teyvat. you won’t be able to pull off stunts like you did in inazuma or here and get away with it. the best you’ll be called is a criminal; the worst you’ll be called is dead.”
that sends a shiver down her spine, but she remains expressionless. “i’ll keep that in mind, thanks.”
“let’s stop being so gloomy!” paimon cuts in. “we gotta finish eating everything before it gets cold!”
wanderer shoves the rest of the unfinished food toward her, which she gladly accepts. lumine takes another sip of her drink, lets her gaze drift toward the window. the moon rests in a cradle of stars, radiant in the darkness. will the sky have the same comfort in fontaine, as it does in sumeru? how easy will it be to get the information she wants?
all will be answered come morning light.
