fun musical bit about this scene!:
Tumblr media
the piece that the car is playing (the "classical music that stays classical music") is a tone poem, saint-saëns' danse macabre. it's a super famous piece that you've probably heard before and is associated with all things spooky. but it's not just spooky bc it sounds spooky: it's spooky bc it tells a story! a tone poem is a piece of music evokes a poem, short story, landscape, etc. in short, it's a piece of music that's describing or outlining something.
danse macabre tells the story of death, who every year on the stroke of midnight on halloween plays his fiddle to raise the dead. the dead dance for him until the following dawn, where they return to their graves until the next year. (musically it does a lot of cool things to reflect this: there's 12 notes at the beginning representing the 12 strokes of midnight, and the frequent use of a specific musical interval called the tritone. in the medieval period the tritone was also called diabolus in musica, literally meaning "the devil in music" bc of how dissonant it sounded to listeners at the time. it also quotes the dies irae chant as well!)
so the fact that it's what the car chose to play is SUPER cute. bc it's classical (technically it's from the romantic period, but w/e), like aziraphale wants, but it's also reminiscent of crowley. bc i bet the car knows just how much aziraphale loves crowley, too. it's a really subtle nudge that the car knows both of them and it's like the car is finding a musical middle for them both, almost.
it's also a subtly brilliant choice bc in the flashback prior, aziraphale said that crowley asked to meet aziraphale in the graveyard at midnight. just like death met the dead on halloween.

just came across this beautiful rendition of siúil a rúin by irish-palestinian artist roisin el cherif. this song has always been close to my heart, especially after it's use in the nightingale, a film that explores the (ongoing) colonial violence on the island that i call home.
i really love the way that she weaves the arabic language into this song, as well as the influences from both irish and palestinian styles of music.
all the proceeds of the release are being donated to the doctors without borders gaza emergency regional fund so if you love her rendition as much as i do i would really recommend purchasing it on band-camp (i've linked it above).

Are you tired of Spotify and not being able to play music offline?
Are you tired of Youtube and not being able to download videos?

Grab the video you want to download and put the link in there, and press download. You can download the video, the audio, or both
Boom. You have all of those. But how do I play music offline?
Download the music only and go to spotify, youll find the file on your personal tracks. From there you can put it in a playlist so the songs automatically play
AND IT WORKS OFFLINE. I TRIED. BECAUSE ITS IN YOUR PHONE SO SPOTIFY IS ONLY PLAYONG IT AND OMG.

I love when artists count in for their song and they keep it in the song, but I always get thrown for a loop when it's a different count in. We've got 1 2, 1 2 3 4! we got the simple 1 2 3 4, we got this one I just heard with the 1 2 . . . 3, so many options to choose from

as the token "friend who is into folk music" there is nothing worse than having a well-meaning friend recommend you a "folk" song from whatever fantasy show/movie/video game they've been watching/playing because first of all- holy shit that is so kind of you to think about me. and now i have to break your heart by not liking whatever music you're about to play to me.

I was wondering about if Caro and Johnny have a playlist, cause I love their vibe and would love to see them or their story portrayed by songs!! :)
(Sorry if this has already been asked)
They Do (kinda)! and it hasn't, but even if it had, i love music questions so i wouldn't mind.
i haven't really built one for them together, well, i have but its small and growing so ill link that and I'm always adding to it so check back, and im so sorry that i only really use youtube still cuz im old or something, so they are on there but i can link them for you. they have separate playlists as well so ill link those too!
Caro likes a lot of electronic music, and of course Johnny likes punk, but i pretty much add any song, any genre of things that remind me of them together or separately. Also if you choose to read the comic one day or already have, in the authors notes, i always rec a song that goes with the updates vibe!

Music things pt 2:
Still/ The Neva Flows (Reprise) from Anastasia (the new broadway musical)
Character(s): Rae and Icarus specifically in the episode Despite Everything
I have too many thought as I am in a production of Anastasia currently and this song is coatedd.
For Rae and Icarus (Rae as Anya and Icarus as Gleb) there are many big lines that stick out to me such as “The Romanovs were given everything and they gave back nothing” this sounds like Icarus raging over the memorial of enderian when all they know her as is raging women who wants everything for no one but herself, as we know has changed. Another pointer is “[Anya] All but one. Finish it. I am my father’s daughter [GLEB] And I am my father’s son! Finish it, I must” this is the mindset of the fight from each perspective in my view. This thought has evidence later when Icarus leaves Rae angry how he couldn’t finish, as if you know Anastasia, that is what happens at the end of the song. One last one is “A man makes painful choices. He does what’s necessary, Anya (Rae). For Russia, my beauty. What choice but simple duty?! We have a past to bury, Anya” The total though process of the two sherberts fighting over what to do as Icarus is evil and the other is fighting for the actual right to be done. And obviously the past to bury is their absolute insane childhood they experienced together, especially all of the fights, resets and so much more.
There are so many other lines that are so coded so go listen to the song it’s sooo good.
