You know what I just realised recently? Take a look at the end lyrics for 'The World According To Chris'

It's sung slow and soft compared to the rest of the song. Sue (Chris' supposed best friend) has just told Chris to grow up for not caring that they hurt Carrie. She's stormed off and left Chris with her "friends" - I put them in speech marks because they really don't act like it, I think it's just a gang of people she's accumulated.

Also, iirc, Chris is in a single spotlight in this moment.

This isn't just Chris repeating what her dad's been saying this whole time and going along with it like she has for the entire song so far, this is her reassuring herself that she's right, because her dad is right, he has to be, he wouldn't kill her surely.

Chris' dad is aggressive, yes, that much is obvious, but he's also abusive to Chris herself. We don't even know if Chris' mum is still in the picture.

The terrible parent symbolism really is spot on in this show <3
