Pop Female Vocalist Indie Folk Post-teen Pop Singer-songwriter
Published December 2nd, 2023. 11:29AM PST
Y/n Y/m/n Y/l/n (born January 11, 2001, in Annapolis, Maryland) is an American singer-songwriter. Y/l/n is a 3-time Grammy winner with a total of 11 nominations (as of October, 2023). As of October, 2023, Y/l/n has sold 26 million albums and 88 million singles worldwide.
Y/n Y/l/n is a internationally praised pop-indie phenomena. She quickly rose to fame at only 17 when she released her debut album Pause (February 19, 2018). Pause sold over a million copies in less than 48 hours, soaring to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. 8 of Y/n's songs took place on the top ten and it took 41 weeks for Y/n's songs to exit the top 10. Pause racked up 3 Platinum singles, including Blouse, Innocent, and Bags.
Y/n Y/l/n's fame somehow skyrocketed higher when she released her second album Chaser (January 19th, 2020). The album features mostly love songs, rumored to be about her then boyfriend, NHL player Mathew Barzal. The album featured best sellers such as Cruel Simmer, Habits, and Happiness is a Butterfly.
As we stay on the topic of her ex boyfriend, she has been stuck in one scandal regarding her love life. In September of 2021, 20 months after releasing Chaser, there were paparazzi videos released of the IT couple in a shouting match on the street outside of popular restaurant, BOA Steakhouse, in Los Angeles, California. Video depicted Y/l/n crying as she fought with the hockey player, who was caught insulting Y/n very explicitly. The video ends with Barzal storming back into BOA Steakhouse, and Y/l/n sitting on the curb, awaiting her ride after the NHL star shouted, "Get a f***ing Uber back if you're going to be a b***h and embarrass me like this!" Bystanders watch as Y/l/n entered long time friend Tate McRae's car.
Less than a week later Y/n confirmed the end of the three year long relationship, with no further comments. While there have been no albums released since Chaser, in January 2020. Y/l/n has released two singles, Memories, and The Cut That Always Bleeds, both released in the summer of 2022.
As of now, December 2023, there has yet to be any major news of new music, but there's always the tiny bits and rumors that get down to the public. While Y/n has promised an album in 2024, she has yet to set a release, causing fans to believe it will come in the later months of the new year.
All in all, Y/n Y/l/n is a talented, young superstar. She captivates audiences like few can, and with the way her career is going now, could be one of the biggest star the world's ever seen. Most recently, Y/n was spotted in a cozy Baltimore suburb alongside Taylor Swift, who Y/n has repeatedly mentioned as her biggest influence when it comes to music, as well as her biggest fan. Swift seemed to take Y/n under her wing in 2019, even having Y/n open a stretch of her shows at The Eras Tour, in 2023, as well as the US shows in late 2024!
There are obviously large things in store for this young influential woman, and I can't help but applaud all of her hard work and dedication to her work.

okay….. can I ask about Buck in the hockey au?
Buck was a middling college player who got drafted in the third round after his team missed the Frozen Four, and he kind of labored in obscurity for a few years in the AHL before his current team picked him up trying to unload cap space to buy out a problem players contract.
Buck plays four regular season games with his new team before he gets sent back down. The company line is that he's just Not Ready but in actuality he's been hooking up with girls in visitor facilities and once in the team bus. His coach (the coach is Bobby I'm just still working out the details) tells him he sees a lot of potential in Buck, and he could make it if he could just find a way to get his head on straight.
Buck gets his head on straight. He kills it with the affiliate team, runs a point streak through twenty-three games as a defenseman, quarterbacks the power play to the point that fans of the NHL team are up in arms that he hasn't been called up.
They're playing with numbers, trying to give Buck as much ice time as possible while they lose the weight of one of their underperforming D-Men - the usual contract juggling. Then they call him up. He has a few good games, scores a few goals, has a wicked wrister from the blue line. He also scores an own goal against Chim his fourth game up and keeps taking stupid penalties. It's 2-4 penalty minutes a game for too many men or delay of game because he keeps getting too overexcited and slinging the puck over the glass instead of along the boards.
Abby works for TNT, and Buck catches her eye while she's between the pipes for a national broadcast game. She's got enough pull to get his number and they start up a phone based relationship.
Buck's team makes playoffs his first year, and gets slaughtered in the first round. Abby's mom dies and she takes a break from sports casting and Buck, not that she really lets him know that.
During the off-season Buck's team trades for a defenseman who's been in the KHL for a few years. His name is Eddie Diaz.
Buck hates him for about half a day. He feels like he's being replaced. He's worked so fucking hard to make it and now there's this guy who just gets a spot right away?
(They're best buds by the end of the week, and by the time the regular season starts they're playing 25 minutes a night as the top D-Pair)
Buck's career comes to a screeching halt in the second round of the playoffs that year when he gets tripped on a breakaway and slides awkwardly into the boards.
(No one makes the connection at the time, but the player who trips him is the same one one of their old wingers, Deluca, saved from the bottom of a dogpile years ago when a skate got way too close to his neck)
The injury isn't an easy one. There's no quick recovery time. Buck is just sort of stuck in limbo for a while. And then when he's cleared to return they find out there were complications. Coach Bobby benches Buck.
And Buck has been nothing but hockey for most of his life. It was the only way to get his parents to pay attention to him. The only outlet for all his anger. And he's good at it. He's the best. He could be the best, anyway.
Buck takes to twitter during his 'recovery' time. At first he's just posting stupid shit, but then people start paying attention to him. The PR dept does Not Like the way Buck calls out bullshit and trolls on Twitter. The GM gets involved, things blow up. Buck is reluctantly allowed back at practices and quickly jumps into game readiness.
And it's clear he's come back better.
The team toils for years in first and second round exits, and some of their stars are coming close to contract years, and they just can't break out. Buck places third for the Norris a few times, and he and Eddie are often talked about as one of the best Defensive pairings in the league, but their team is fast and light and they get beat to shit every time playoffs roll around. Eddie's feisty, he'll talk shit until the opposing bench is FUMING, he'll get scrappy along the boards, he'll duke it out when necessary, but he usually has to keep a lid on that because he can't let Buck down by getting injured.
At the end of year six for Buck, after a heartbreaking out, Buck's end of year presser goes viral when he talks about how he's been in the league for six years and hasn't won shit.
The fanbase panics because he's in his second to last contract year. If they can't contend, they're convinced he's gonna want out before the All-Star break. (None of them are aware that Buck would rather re-break his leg than leave this team he considers family, and his agent would like to keep it that way)
The team has a banner fucking year. They've got record game winning streaks and record point streaks and their aging goalie has never played better. He has four shutouts in the first half of the season. And Buck was never planning to leave so no one really broaches the contract thing. They'll figure it out in the off-season. Buck's got games to win.
With the trade deadline looming and Buck's team looking like a shoe-in for top of their conference, the front office makes a... strange move early in. They trade for Tommy Kinard. He's a bruiser, real old school type, skates like he's got bricks attached to his ankles but will knock a motherfucker down for looking sideways at his guys. He hasn't announced he's retiring at the end of the season, but he's planning to hang it up either way.
The team is hesitant about that, at first, once they know. He and Chim played together for a few years, and Chim welcomes him to the team by filling his car with golf balls. Pointed, maybe, but Tommy laughs it off, and retaliates, and the team starts to grow fond of him. BUCK starts to grow fond of him. Buck has a Cup run to worry about but Tommy is there, playing five minutes a night and knocking dudes on their ass that would normally be going for Buck and Eddie so consistently that Buck and Eddie feel a little invincible. People are second guessing whether or not they want to risk incurring the wrath of Kinard for a meaningless late March game.
And that is where I leave this because I'm actually seriously considering writing this fic now and that's about where I'd start it.

“And that’s everything,” Pete says with a grin and a shrug of his shoulders as you approach the board room. He’s been giving you a tour of the facilities since it’s your first day as the team physician of the newly formed San Diego Daggers. You were still pinching yourself. Two weeks ago you’d been unemployed and spending every single waking moment stressing about what would happen once you finished your fellowship at the Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute when you’d quite literally crashed into the opportunity of a lifetime when hockey legend Pete “Maverick” Mitchell had driven his motorcycle in front of your car at a gas station. Turns out he was the newly appointed head coach of the San Diego Daggers hockey team and when you’d let slip that working for a hockey team was your dream he’d offered you an interview on the spot.
Since then, you’d found out that he hadn’t been kidding when he said that wasn’t his department as the general manager, Beau Simpson had exasperatedly informed you during your interview. Thankfully Mr. Simpson had been impressed with your resume and had offered you the most level-headed response to your situation you’d received in the three months since the incident occurred. You’d taken a chance in trusting him with the details of what happened but you knew it was better that he heard it from you before someone else could twist the story with their own opinion and interpretation of the events. The two of you had struck an agreement that stipulated the basic work contract to account for your situation, but the job was yours.
Now here you were, on your first day, being shown around your new place of work. “Now I want to introduce you to the newest member of our team, he’s going to be our team captain, so it’s imperative that you two get acquainted as soon as possible so you can start organizing physicals for the team. The ink’s quite literally still drying on his contract, but I think he’ll be the perfect man for the job.” You nod along, as you’ve been for the better part of the last hour. “By the way, kiddo, I never got the chance to ask. You said the Ducks were your second favorite team, who’s your first?” His eyes twinkle with humor as you chuckle, embarrassed as you remember your first interaction.
“The Dallas Stars,” you answer. “I’ve been a fan of them for as long as I can remember.” Oh but you can remember, you remember the day your loyalties shifted from the childhood love of Anaheim you’d shared with your dad, but you’ve embarrassed yourself enough in front of Pete Mitchell for a lifetime, or so you think.
His grin widens and his eyes light up conspiratorially as he pushes the door to the conference room open. “Well then, kid, I think the two of you are going to get along just fine.” You blink as your eyes adjust to the change from the dimmer ambient hallway lights to the bright LEDs in the conference room, just as the seat closest to the door turns to reveal its occupant. “Jake! I want you to meet our brand new team physician. Kiddo, this is Jake.”
Jake Seresin. Jake motherfucking Seresin, Centre and Captain of the Dallas Stars, and the very reason you became a Stars fan in the first place, stands from the chair and offers you his hand. “Hey there, it’s nice to meet you, ma’am” His grin is wide and just as blinding as it is on TV, but it doesn’t touch the storm in his eyes. The piercing green that’s always warm, inviting, and jovial now looks more like a raging sea. Thankfully your professionalism manages to rush back to your brain in a timely manner and you take his hand, feeling the calluses on his palm scrape the smooth skin of yours.
“H-Hi,” you introduce yourself with the eloquence of a deep sea fish, as he releases your hand before your curiosity gets the better of you. “I thought you played for the Stars.” It’s harmless enough, it’s not like you’ve divulged anything personal but it feels like you’ve revealed yourself as some kind of unprofessional super fan in front of someone who is first and foremost your colleague and your patient for God’s sake.
He shifts uncomfortably, scratching the back of his neck as he deliberates how to answer your question before he settles on, “I did, until,” he breaks eye contact to check the watch on his wrist. “38 hours ago.”
“Oh,” is all you can manage as your brain descends into chaos. “Well, I guess since I signed about a week ago, welcome to the team.” He lets out a laugh at that and you watch some of the weight lift off his shoulders. Your mind is racing but the sensible part of it reminds you that this is your place of work, he’s just a client, regardless of who he is.
“So Mr. Seresin, or do you prefer Captain Seresin? When would be a good time to meet and go over scheduling the team physicals? I know we’re in the off-season right now but I want to get all the routine procedures done as soon as possible and adjust training as needed based on that.” He chuckles and it puts you at ease instantly.
“Just Jake is fine, ma’am. You’re the one in charge here, remember? As for the physicals, I agree that we should get those out of the way first and foremost. Scheduling that is up to our trainers, however, not me.”
“No, right of course, but as Captain would you be willing to go first to kind of show a united front? If I’m going to properly and efficiently take care of your team, trust is key.” You almost miss the bob of his Adam’s apple as he hesitates.
“Sure thing, sign me up.”
“Seresin.” The door opens behind you as Mr. Simpson enters the board room. “And our new physician, good to see you made it.” You nod in acknowledgment. “Seresin we’re glad to have you here, you’re a last-minute catch, but that does mean we need to get you up to speed as soon as possible.”
“Of course, sir.” Jake’s back to his charismatic self for his manager, the troubled man you’d met just minutes ago gone. “It was nice to meet you, ma’am.” He pipes up as you make your way towards the door, your dismissal unspoken.
You turn back to give him a smile, “Nice to meet you too, Jake.” You’ve barely made it halfway down the hallway when the door opens again and Mav is jogging after you, a shit-eating grin creeping across his face.
“So, what do you think?” He’s ecstatic.
“Mav,… I mean this with all the grace of a professional, but how the fuck did you manage to get Jake Seresin?” He laughs, loud and long before leaning in conspiratorially.
“We didn’t. He came to us.” You’re shell-shocked, to say the least.
You open and close your mouth without saying anything for a few seconds before you remember your last conversation. “Mav, about what I said to you earlier,” He grins. “I said that to you as a friend, not a coworker and I’d really appreciate it if you kept that to yourself, for the sake of my professionalism, please. Jake’s my coworker and patient, and anything else would affect his ability to trust me as his physician.” His eyes twinkle as he winks.
“Your secret is safe with me, kiddo. I appreciate your dedication to the job from the get-go. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind if you asked for his autograph, though.” You can’t fight the flush that creeps across your cheeks. He pats your back gently. “Don’t worry kiddo, any girl in the world would lose their head a bit if they had to work with that boy. I played with plenty of guys just like him in my day.”
“Mav, you were a guy like him in your day.” Mav laughs again as you reach your office.
“Good luck, kid. Break a leg!” He leaves with a wave and you sigh, pushing into the room.
The moment the door swings shut, you turn to press your forehead against the hardwood, letting out a breath you’ve been holding since you entered the board room. You’re fucked, totally completely, royally fucked. You’ve never struggled with professionalism in the workplace. Your entire patient base was made up of multimillion-dollar athletes, any awkwardness due to this had been a hurdle you’d long since crossed. But this? This wasn’t just close to home in the way that you were a fan of the sport your patient played, you were a fan of the player period.
Jake “Hangman” Seresin had had a successful enough career long before he came to play for the Dallas Stars but it was during his first season with them that he first caught your eye. Sure, every girl who knew anything about hockey salivated over the Ken doll on skates but that wasn’t what had drawn you to him. You’d been a hockey fan long enough to know that there were plenty of pretty faces on the ice and sooner or later his dazzling smile would be short a few perfect teeth. Plus, they weren’t there to be pretty, they were there because they could play, and damn if Jake wasn’t the whole package because he was a monster on the ice. He hadn’t earned the nickname “Hangman” for nothing.
It was Dallas vs. Anaheim and Anaheim had the game in the bag, or so you thought. It was the third period, the score was 6-2 in favor of Anaheim. Dallas had managed to take a single point each period, saving themselves from a total wipeout but a four-point difference with nine minutes left in the game had most people switching channels, safe with the knowledge that the match was decided. Then Dallas made a game-changing switch, they switched their centre, just their centre. You’d written it off the same way as everyone else, as a last-ditch effort by Dallas to change the flow of the game in any way they could, but it was anything but.
The moment Jake Seresin hit the ice, the energy in the entire arena shifted, as if they knew what was coming somehow. That was the thing about Jake Seresin you learned that day, he played every second he was on the ice like it was the last second of a tied game. He was a game maker. In the next nine minutes, not only did Dallas tie the score, making up the four points that they trailed, but they sunk a final, victory point with three seconds left on the clock. Of those five points, only two were scored directly by Jake, including the final one, but it was a unanimous opinion that Jake was the reason behind the win. He knew how to move a puck, he knew how to support his teammates while finding shots through a jungle of defense like an octopus in a wall of rock. You weren’t sure if you breathed at all during those nine minutes, and when it was finally over, you’d sat back, too stunned to speak, eyes wide and mouth parted. You’d been brought back to earth by your dad’s laugh from next to you as he gave you a wry smile, “And that’s the moment you’ll fall in love with hockey.” It was something he’d told you once when you asked how he’d come to love the sport as much as he did, a love he’d passed down to you. For him it was an Anaheim game that he was passively watching in a hotel room, half asleep and channel surfing, looking for something to lull him to sleep. For you, you’d always thought you loved hockey, you’d been watching Anaheim games with your dad for as long as you could remember, but it wasn’t until that night that you saw Jake Seresin play for the first time that you realized that while you loved hockey, you couldn’t have been in love with hockey because nothing had ever felt like this.
You’re broken out of your thoughts by a firm rapping on the door you’re still leaning your forehead against. You straighten with a soft groan before opening the door to reveal an unfamiliar woman on the other side. Compared to your forest green scrubs and white coat, she’s a vision in a powder pink suit, her hair pulled into a no-nonsense bun at the base of her neck, and a pair thick of black glasses propped on her head. She extends a perfectly manicured hand to you, her other one occupied with a pink leather folio that matches her suit and nails, introducing herself. “Everyone here calls me Zamboni, though, or just Zam.”
“Can… can I ask why?” You’re a little intimidated by her, the color pink has never made you feel mildly terrified before but there’s a first time for everything.
She laughs at that, a rich, real sound. “I got it at my first unofficial gig, they said it was because I smooth things over, just like a Zamboni smoothes the ice.” She rolls her eyes playfully. “College guys think they are so funny, but the name stuck.” She shrugs. “I like to think it’s because I’m good at my job. I’m the PR rep for the team.”
“It’s nice to meet you Zam.” You weigh your options quickly before deciding to dive right in. “Actually, I have a question I was hoping you could answer.” Zam raises an eyebrow at the way your voice drops but nods to encourage you to continue. “What’s Jake Seresin doing here?” Both eyebrows are raised now. She lets out a defeated huff, crossing her arms over her chest in frustration.
“You know, I pride myself on knowing every aspect of my job inside out, and that includes my players, but that’s one question that even I don’t have the answer to, and not for lack of trying. All I know is that Seresin reached out to Beau two nights ago and showed up here this morning. No private plane, no nothing, the man took a commercial red eye. It does make you wonder,
what exactly had him running like hell to get out of Dallas, but as far as concrete answers go, I’m all out.” She frowns. “Any particular reason why you ask? Do you know something?”
You shake your head, disappointedly. “Nope, but I watch enough hockey on my own time to know he could be anywhere and why he’s here makes little to no sense. I know he and Machado are friends but that doesn’t seem like enough to pass up re-signing to Dallas, and definitely doesn’t explain why he decided to move in less than 48 hours.”
“Just one of life’s mysteries.” An unfamiliar voice interrupts. You both turn to see another woman approach. “I’m Natasha Trace, the head equipment manager.” You shake her outstretched hand as you look over the dark-haired woman. She has a strong grip and you feel the barely there brush of calluses on her hand as if they’ve long faded but stubbornly remained in some places. “If it helps, Javy didn’t know he was coming here either, he’s just as surprised as the rest of us.” Her eyes darken sadly. “Honestly, he’s more pissed than excited right now.”
“Are you two close?” You ask and she’s smiling again.
“Yeah, we went to high school together. He’s actually the reason I have this job, he recommended it to me.”
“And by proxy you know Jake, then?” She shrugs nonchalantly.
“He’s Javy’s best friend, but honestly we don’t see enough of each other to really say I know Jake. Most of what I know about him is what I hear from Javy. I could count on one hand the number of times we’d met before this.” She claps her hands, signaling the end of the conversation. “As much as I enjoy gossiping like old hens with both of you, I did actually come here for a reason. Mav wants to introduce you to the rest of the team so you can start getting into their physicals.” With that, Zam is back in professional mode, straightening from where she’s been leaning on the doorframe to follow the two of you as you do your best to memorize the route Natasha is taking. When you enter the rink, the boys are mid-practice, zipping around on the ice while Maverick watches from the sidelines, taking notes. He turns at the click of Zam’s heels as your group approaches.
“Ladies, welcome! Kiddo, glad to see you’re getting assimilated!” He turns back to the ice, blowing his whistle to signal the guys over to the bench. Your nose is hit with the familiar smell of sweaty athletes as they collect on the ice in front of Mav, removing their helmets and shaking out their name hair. A few swing over the boards to take a seat on the bench, grabbing water bottles as slowly all eyes come to rest on you. You glance over the group, clocking familiar faces. Javy Machado, a right winger, here from the San Jose Sharks and Jake Seresin’s former teammate on the Arizona Coyotes. Left winger, Bradley Bradshaw, the oldest player on the team, from the Philadelphia Flyers. The defensive duo, Reuben Fitch and Mickey Garcia from the New Jersey Devils. Rookie goalie Bob Floyd, whose acquisition has been turning a lot of heads. And of course, Jake Seresin, former captain and centre for the Dallas Stars.
Mav claps a hand on your shoulder. “Gentlemen, this is our new team physician. I’m gonna let her take the floor.” He steps back at that to linger with Natasha and Zam as twenty pairs of eyes focus on you.
You introduce yourself and put on your best smile as the boys chorus back their own greetings. “My first order of business is going to be scheduling your physicals. I want to get as much of the basics out of the way early so we can catch any hidden injuries or undiagnosed conditions as soon as possible so that we can adjust anything we need to have you ready and fighting fit when the season starts in two months.” You almost miss the way Jake shifts uncomfortably at your mention of hidden injuries and undiagnosed conditions and you store away that tidbit for later. “I look forward to working with all of you this season and I want you to know that my priority is your health and safety, and if we want to make the best of our relationship then we need to trust each other so I hope I can earn your trust.” You make eye contact with Jake as you say this. His eyes are back to the stormy seas from this morning and you hope he can trust you enough to tell you what’s really going on so you can help. Just as you’re about to wrap up you remember something. “One last thing! I want to clearly emphasize that this physical will not, and I repeat, will not include any reason for you to be naked. I’m a licensed general physician but this physical doesn’t involve checking your testicles or your prostate unless a specific condition makes it necessary. So please, please keep your underwear on for both our benefit. I don’t want to see any dicks in my exam room, am I clear?” A chorus of laughs and yes ma’am’s bounce off the walls. When you turn to excuse yourself, Mav is grinning too. You decide to get this out ahead of time. “Mav, we need to discuss a good time for me to start the physicals.”
He nods before shrugging. “We’re done here for a bit so If you’re free to start now, you can start taking them one by one.” You nod, turning back to the boys on the ice who are slowly trudging off the ice at his words. “Captain, you’re up.”
Jake stiffens before his mask is back on. “Sure thing, ma’am, I’ll be right there as soon as I hit the showers.” You nod in return and head back to your office to prepare yourself. This is about to be a lesson in professionalism.

Pittsburgh Penguins alternate captain Evgeni Malkin was named the NHL’s Third Star for the opening week of the 2023-24 regular season, it was announced today.
Malkin opened the season with six points (2G-4A) in his first three games, and is currently tied as the NHL’s leading scorer. In the Penguins’ second game of the season on October 13 in Washington, Malkin (1G-3A) opened the scoring and factored in on each of Pittsburgh’s four goals to record his first four-point game since January 10, 2023. Malkin’s 29 career four-point games and 36 three-assist games are both the fourth most among all active players.
With a goal and assist, Malkin recorded another multi-point game the next night at home against Calgary on October 14, as Pittsburgh swept their first set of back-to-back games of the season. Malkin’s goal that night marked his 473rd career marker, tying him with Alexander Mogilny for the third-most goals by a Russian-born player in NHL history. Only Alex Ovechkin (822) and Sergei Fedorov (483) have more goals among Russians.
This season marks Malkin’s 18th with the Penguins, surpassing Mario Lemieux (17) for the second-most seasons played with the team in franchise history (Sidney Crosby, 19; Kris Letang, 18). Pittsburgh’s long-standing core of Malkin and teammates Crosby and Letang are skating in their 18th season together, marking the longest-tenured trio of teammates in major North American professional sports history.

introducing august
Tumblr media
August Catherine Crosby was born September 14, 1998 the youngest of her two siblings.
August always looked up to her older brother Sidney and he was the person who brought her onto the ice for the first time and she fell in love with the feeling of being on the ice, they both loved that they got to play together for a year in the NHL.
August and Taylor have always been close as sisters and always team up together to bully their older brother.
August growing up would spend a lot of time with her mother and grandmother in the kitchen watching them bake, August always enjoyed learning how to bake from the two and it’s something she still loves to do whenever she has the time.
August played in the OHL for the Eerie Otters and became very close with many on the team specifically Connor McDavid, Dylan Strome, and Alex DeBrincat. She also played on the national team for Canada and became very close to Mitch Marner.
August and Alex were drafted the year after the the other three and while they all got spilt across the world, August was the glue to keeping them all close to each other and being a consistent part in each others life’s.
Mitch has always loved August claiming her his favorite and he made sure everyone knew that, he desperately wanted her to get drafted to the Leafs wanting to play on the same team again. Some of his most favorite games of the season is when he plays against August.
Connor took August under his wing when she joined the OHL team and even though she was only a year younger than him he still was very protective of her and had gotten into many fights for her over the two years of playing with each other.
Dylan came back to the OHL after his draft for another season and he got to play with August and Alex for another season and win a Championship with them.
It was no surprise when Dylan had his first daughter August was named the godmother, just like it wasn’t surprising that Alex named August godmother to his first son as well, and Dylan and Alex’s second children were both named August godchildren as well.
August had a very tough rookie year being the first woman in the NHL but also being the younger sister of Sidney Crosby and she drafted to his team it came with a lot of questions, so she always makes sure she looks out for the rookies in the league especially the first overall picks knowing the pressure that comes with it.
She had texted Jack Hughes when he was in rookie and Jack instantly felt comfortable with her and she was already someone he looked up to but even more so once she started becoming like a mentor to him, they have stayed close since then and Jack adores August.
Jack is always talking about August especially to his family and they all can see how much Jack looks up to her. Jack also knows how much August is busy during of summer as she is always trying to see all of her family and godchildren and he knows she rarely ever has any free time so he will usally go to her and spend at least a week with her wherever she is and they will at least get on the ice together to practice.
Jack literally begs August to bake him anything and if they are playing each other August always has some type of baked good for him and she will usally send him boxes of her baked goods.
August knew who Quinn Hughes is, especially being close to Jack but it seemed they never could ever meet each other, she only ever saw him when they were playing against each other but they finally got introduced to each other during the 2024 All Stars, when Jack picked first for his team and quickly picked August.
Quinn has heard so much about August from Jack and he honestly has always thought she was beautiful and when they finally get to truly meet he can tell why Jack loves her so much, she’s extremely easy to love and she just seems to lighten up everything. Quinn fell for August before she fell for him.
August loved trading to the Vegas Knights and loved that she joined the first year that they were ever a team and she is proud to carry the C on her chest for her team especially as she is the only ever Captain of the Knights ever.
August was one of the biggest supporters of Knights having a team pet and helped a lot of getting a future service dog for the team and chose the name Maverick for him.
August has always loved being a godmother and is always spending any free time with her godchildren and they all always visit her a lot, she’s always spoiling them and there is not a doubt that she is all four of her godchildren’s favorite person.
Sideny’s Agent since he was young was Pat Brisson and from a young age August was around the Brisson family and grew quite close to Jordan and Brendan. August was so exicted when Brendan was drafted to Vegas and immediately told him when he came to Vegas he was staying with her. Brendan joined the Vegas AHL team after his collegiate career and moved in with August.
August was the one that suggests Brendan to her coach when they were looking for a AHL player to call up and the coach agree especially seeing how Brendan had been playing. August also was the one who passed him the puck on his first NHL goal against her brother.

is there a reason why Carolina is losing all their affiliates???
Other than being assholes to Erik Haula?
Okay, but in all seriousness, there's a short answer and a long one.
The short answer is two words long: Pyotr Kochetkov.
The long answer? Meet me under the cut.
Alright, hi there. So to answer this question fully, we need to talk about the AHL in depth. The AHL, or American Hockey League, is the second-highest league of North American pro hockey, under the NHL. Most people tend to believe it's just "where prospects play before they hit the NHL". This is... only a part of the story.
There are 32 teams in the AHL to match 32 NHL teams. The idea there is that every NHL team would have an AHL affiliate - the most recent expansion, for example, the Coachella Valley Firebirds, is the AHL affiliate for the newest NHL team, the Seattle Kraken. Many of these teams are owned by the same group as owns the NHL team - Harris Blitzer, for example, owns both the New Jersey Devils and the Utica Comets. Others don't - the AHL's Charlotte Checkers, for instance, are owned by Michael Kahn, whereas their NHL affiliate, the Florida Panthers, is owned by Sunrise Sports (aka Vincent Viola).
Why is this important? Well, if you're an NHL team that owns your AHL team, you can let that AHL team leak money. You're turning a good profit on the NHL team, so you don't have to make your AHL team economically viable on its own - you just put it in as a massive tax write-off and go on with your day. Thus, you can put all of your AHL team's resources into developing your AHL players to get ready to play at the NHL level. Of course you sign some vets and such of your own, maybe get a few undrafted guys for the AHL team too, but generally, an NHL-owned AHL team's sole purpose is to develop NHL players. Winning the Calder Cup (the AHL equivalent to the Stanley Cup, not to be confused with the Calder Memorial Trophy given to the best NHL rookie) is just gravy on top.
Contrast this to independently-owned AHL teams, where this is not the case. For these teams, making money is paramount. How do you make money? When you win. Fun fact - the Chicago Wolves, incidentally, used to be televised on main channels partially as a fuck you to Bill Wirtz, who didn't let the Chicago Blackhawks' home games be televised, presumably to drive ticket sales. The Wolves saw that and pounced on the opportunity to make some cash. So if nothing else, love them for sticking it to the Hawks. You can still watch Wolves games on My50, it seems, if you've got that channel, as well as AHL streaming options.
But back to independently-owned AHL teams before I go on my daily anti-Hawks crusade. You want to make money. You do that when you win. When you make the postseason. When you win in the postseason. Independently-owned AHL teams want to win, not necessarily develop for the NHL. So when your NHL team keeps taking your best player away for weeks and then giving him back... you get annoyed.
Now let's play Chicago Wolves Simulator. You are Don Levin and Buddy Meyers, the Wolves' owners. Your goal is to win the Calder Cup or at least come pretty damn close so you can pay the bills. You have a good team - hell, you won the Calder last year! - but your best asset is this star goaltender named Pyotr Kochetkov. When Koochie's in net, you usually win because he bails out your team. When he isn't there to help you win, you kind of don't. Now, Carolina's going through its own issues in net, so they keep calling Koochie up and down. And, as previously mentioned, you kind of suck without Koochie. To be fair, you're not all that great with him, but you suck without him. And you have no control over when he goes up to Carolina, even just to sit on the bench.
You miss the playoffs by one point. One. And your three-year contract with the Canes is up. What do you do?
Waddell Young, GM of the Wolves, says their philosophy and the Canes' fundamentally differed. The Wolves develop and win. Winning develops, to them. The Canes wanted the Wolves to focus solely on development. Not winning. So, when their deal with the Canes was up, the Wolves said "no thanks, we're not going to continue this, we're going independent". This decision makes them the first non-NHL affiliated team in almost 30 years. Now, this isn't to say all independently-owned AHL teams are doomed to fail in partnerships because of divergent philosophies. Look at the Hershey Bears and the Washington Capitals for a prime example of that - the Bears are one of the best teams in the AHL and have won four Calder Cups with the Caps as their affiliates since their affiliation began in 2005. But the Wolves were quite unhappy with the Canes, and so the two split. Also notable is that the Canes have also poisoned the waters with who should be their local AHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers, to the point where the Checkers affiliated with the Panthers instead. So... there's that.
So what can the Canes now do with non-roster players? They can affiliate with another AHL team (co-affiliation); one instance of this was when the Seattle Kraken affiliated with the Charlotte Checkers in 21-22 because the Coachella Valley Firebirds weren't yet ready. Supposedly the plan is to get an affiliate for 24-25. But what do they do this year? Especially if they can't find an affiliate to share, which seems more and more likely as the summer drags on? Well, you can't sign players to two-way deals with the Wolves anymore, so you can't really keep veterans around in the AHL to call up if needed. So you... sign nine defensemen to NHL contracts and carry them on the roster at all times. Yep. Don Waddell, Canes GM, has basically stated outright that his roster is probably going to have to carry 22 or 23 players at all times to be sure to have replacements in case of injury. And your prospects? They either go to Europe, where they're basically inaccessible for the whole year, or you loan them to other AHL clubs. Waddell has said plans are in place with several teams to send 2 or 3 players each to several different AHL clubs. For your youngest, they go back to major junior in the CHL and related leagues. Same for your veterans - if you want to keep them, you'll have to sign them one-way (I believe) and then loan them down to scattered AHL teams across the league. Prospects who you could have signed to play in the AHL and develop? You're probably going to have to let them go to free agency (see: Kevin Wall, leading player for Penn State and Carolina draft pick, who just inked a deal with the Milwaukee Admirals, AHL affiliate of the Nashville Predators). And then you can send your worse prospects to your ECHL tea- wait. Oops. They just lost that too. Can't do that either. Well, shit.
And remember, one of the Canes' biggest assets is their system of play (with strong defense) that they execute well. The Wolves needed to teach their players the Canes' system and prepare them so the jump from AHL to NHL wouldn't be that tough. The Canes put their coaches on the Wolves for that purpose (the Wolves have since cleaned house and instated their own). Loaning your players to another AHL team? Why would that team be incentivized to teach your player(s) the system? So now even when you're calling up someone to play for the Canes, you have no idea how well they know the system and no idea how well they can play in it.
This now begs the other question - how will the Wolves fill their roster? Well, they've got options. Generally, an AHL team takes the prospects of its NHL affiliate and then fills the rest of the roster with AHL veteran free agents that the AHL team signs to AHL-only deals. But without an NHL team, it's a smidge more complicated, or perhaps easier. Firstly, other NHL teams can loan their prospects to the Wolves instead of their own AHL teams if they consider the Wolves better at developing them, for instance. The Wolves can now also sign whatever free agent players they find roaming around that could be a good fit for their team - undrafted college players, good ECHL players that can't seem to get called up enough, AHL veterans, players on European teams (especially Russians who might want the chance to get the fuck out of Russia) and so on. These free agent players could see the Wolves as a stable AHL team that can pay solid money (the AHL doesn't have a cap) with a strong chance at contending for the Calder as well as a possible stepping stone to an NHL contract. The Wolves also don't have to worry about these free agents taking ice time away from the Canes' prospects, who would need to be prioritized under an affiliation, which would also be a strong incentive for AHL free agent veterans to sign with them - they'd be able to get a truly fair chance, unlike under an affiliate system where prospects are the priority and free agents are generally playing fewer (and worse) minutes.
And remember - Chicago just drafted Bedard. The city's getting back into hockey and Hawks tickets are expensive. Want to watch some quality hockey on the cheap? Why not come to Wolves games! They're only 18 miles away from the Hawks, too!
Let's now talk about the ECHL and the Norfolk Admirals. Thankfully, this is going to be a lot simpler. The ECHL, unlike the AHL, has only 28 teams. This means 4 NHL teams don't have an ECHL team. In addition, very few, if any, ECHL teams are owned by their NHL affiliates. This further incentivizes them to play for profit (winning the Kelly Cup, the ECHL version of the Stanley Cup) instead of development. On top of this, relatively few ECHL players actually make it to the NHL. ECHL affiliates change fairly frequently, especially due to many of the teams folding because of financial issues (most recently the Brampton Beast, Manchester Monarchs, and Quad City Mallards). So if an ECHL team decides to drop its NHL affiliate, or vice versa, there are four other suitors, all of whom would probably want to pay the ECHL team decent money to be their associate. For the Admirals, it's easy - they see the Canes lose their AHL affiliate and decide they'd rather take the Jets' offer instead, whether it be for the money (Carolina's supposedly notoriously stingy) or for the security. It's just really fucking funny that it happens at the same time Carolina loses their AHL team. Get fucked lol.
TL;DR stan the Wolves for rejecting the system. Canes Suck.

Matthew and Brady on @ The Rink Podcast
Tumblr media
Most of what they said bits of it has already come out in previous articles a few weeks back
Brady discussed his summer wedding, his excitement going into the season, the growth of his team and what he learned watching Matthew and the Panthers go on their run to the Stanley Cup Final last season.
Brady : "Just to see the every-day grind of taking care of himself, making sure he's ready for the game, and just as a leader too, taking care of yourself so you're able to demand from the rest because you're doing it right," he said. "I'm definitely ready and hopefully it'll be me in the playoffs soon.
"Seeing what he did created a lot of motivation for me over the summer."
Matthew discussed the broken sternum he sustained during the Stanley Cup Final and the pain he was in, the help he got from his brother at that time, Brady's bachelor party in Miami, and feeling a different vibe in the South Florida market after last season.
"Very different," Matthew said. "A lot more buzz. There's a lot of buzz around every sports team. It's turning into a sports crazy town and that makes it fun. [Soccer star Lionel] Messi coming in makes that much more buzz. The past few years the Dolphins have been great. What us and the Heat did last year really gave a lot of traction for us as a hockey team. So it's pretty cool." via NHL.COM
Listen to Brady from 16.04 Matthew from 40.30
______________________________________________________________
A few added things from Matthew's interview on the podcast some of which we've already heard & posted previously but included here for anyone that missed it first time round.
His injury allowed him to work on his strength & conditioning.
He wishes there was no social media after all the wedding stuff posted online, his family like to have a good time at weddings and doesn't know where people get this stuff (footage that goes viral).
Things Brady is better at than him: a better shot, video games & being a all round better human being than him (but he'll work on that!), Matthew says he himself is a ball buster, Matthew takes the bragging rights when it comes to Golf though he says his Dad is better at chirping and more witty & more funny than him & thinks his dad's game was underappreciated & underrated at the time he played, people realise from Matthew & Brady's game style how good & valuable he was and his dad gets belated recognition which he appreciates.
Says Brady's bachelor party in Miami took a few years off his life!
His summer consisted of the trip to Nashville for the player Awards, laying around in the hotel doing nothing, Bachelor parties, four weddings, and a trip to Montana in August, though he hasn't really done much of anything over the last month.
The Blood vessels and stuff were the the scary part of his injury at the time and half his body felt like it was out here, he knew something wasn't right, he didn't know what it was at the time, until they did his tests the next day. He was in the most pain after winning game three the overtime win. But now he's all good.
It was doctors who gave him the go ahead to do what he could to play just one last game. Despite the serious nature of his injury he would do it all over again if he had the chance.
He's excited to get going for camp & the new season though mentions the missing guys until around Christmas will be a tough ask (Montour & Ekblad) he feels The Panthers have more depth especially with the D this year.
Calls Alex Lyon The Lyon King & Big praise for his (Lyon) & Bob's heroics. How they had to play with only six D & two Goalies with Knight's absence last year.
The goal is to again make the playoffs, and be in the mix he wants to get of to a good start and how it sucks to have to chase for a spot like they had last year.
The Allstar was a good jump start because the Panthers weren't doing well as a team at that point which created a buzz that carried on leading on the cup run.

[you and wedgewood are tight. i just wonder, what makes a good backup in the NHL these days? you know, it’s a bit of a changing dynamic, workload, and, you know, some teams have three goalies. like, what works between you two, what makes  scott good as that number two.]  yeah, i think, first and foremost, like, we just root for each other really hard, i think that’s, like — you can say that, you know, but not everyone really means it and you know, i know when i’m in there he means … he wants me to do my best, and he knows that when he’s in there i’m pulling for him. and we push each other a ton and … he’s just a great guy to have around, like, even — you know, if he was a — not a goalie, if he was just a guy on the team, we’d be good friends too, so, he’s just a great dude and i’m lucky to share the crease with him and we push each other a lot, we both wanna, you know, be the number one guy, so, um. you know, i know if i, you know, take my foot off the gas, that he’s gonna take over, so.  [i know you’ve been, like — say, at the program, you were there with woll, you guys probably shared, but like — you guys were younger, were you at times, like, i’ve gotta check myself and be a little bit more positive?]  yeah, for sure, i think that’s a — i mean, that’s the thing, like, about being a goalie. there’s only one net, right? so it’s … it’s a hard position, um … and for me, obviously, i want to play as much as i can and, you know — someone else doing poor doesn’t, uh, — like, help me in any way, you know what i mean? like, i know if i play my best then i’m gonna be the number one, so that’s kind of the only thing i focus on. i’ve had great relationships with every goalie i’ve played with and, um … i’m looking to do that the rest of my career.
uh, one piece of sports memorabilia you wish you could own?
well, for my whole career i was dying to get a henrik lundqvist signed stick and i just got one, like, two weeks ago, so it was, like, the best gift i’ve ever gotten in my life, so.
how’d you finally get it?
uh, my guy at bauer hooked me up. he, like, had a case? a bauer thing, and i thought it was gonna be an all-star stick. and he was like, open it up, and i opened it up, and it was one of his used sticks signed and it was … coolest thing i own.
how would you change NHL overtime rules?
i think i would do … ten minute overtime.
three on three still?
three on three still. and then maybe … try that for a bit, and if it didn’t work, maybe do no, uh — ‘cause, like, it’s such a big … everyone wants to keep possession, maybe do a no over-and-back rule.
finally – i know i’m asking a goalie this question – on a scale from one to ten, how superstitious are you?
i’m gonna go, like … four, five.
yeah?
pretty low, yeah. you can ask my fiancée, my teammates, my friends.  it’s nothing too crazy, just go out there and have fun.
i’m doing a story on PWHL minnesota team. i just think that minnesota fans are amazing, because they watch those women from all the way out here. for someone who’s from minnesota, can you tell me what that environment is like?
yeah, it’s so special, i think, like, boys and girls high school hockey there is just, like, so important, uh … it’s kinda like football in texas, that’s what i compare it to, and, uh — i played in the state tournament, um, my freshman year in high school and that was, like, one of my favorite hockey memories of my whole career, um, so — it’s just so special, and i think, i mean … when i saw that they had 13,000 or whatever at the x it didn’t surprise me one bit, i mean, it’s the state of hockey for a reason, and, uh, just happy to see that league getting the support they deserve and the ladies getting the recognition they deserve.
are there any minnesota female hockey players who really stand out for you?
um, well, one i was gonna say is, i played with — when i was at BU i played with, uh, abby cook and jesse compher and they’re both in the PWHL now, and, i mean, we got to go watch them win the beanpot, and, i mean, the hockey’s great, you know — these women are so talented and, uh, deserve to have a place where they can play and, you know, get paid just like we do and, um, you know, i think minnesota’s such a good spot for it.

Two weeks out from the end of your fellowship should have felt better. Fifteen years of work and you were so close to the finish line that you could taste it. You’d worked your ass off, topped your classes over and over, sacrificing every bit of your social life, sleep, and general welfare to guarantee that you’d have your choice of job once you came out the other end, and you had. That was at least until three months ago when everything came crashing down. A misunderstanding, a miscalculation, something that felt so far beyond your control and the past fifteen years had been swept out from under your feet. Now you refreshed your email in desperation instead of excitement. You were sitting on a dragon’s hoard of student loans and not a single job offer. The downside of being at one of the top fellowship programs in the country was ironically the same as the upside, they were extremely well-connected. As a result, you were basically blacklisted by every potential employer.
Anyone else would question how you did it, getting out of bed like nothing was wrong and going to your fellowship with a professional smile plastered on your face as if everything was right with the world and you’d be on your way to the first day of your dream job in just two short weeks. It turns out that delusion is highly motivating. You’d refresh your email every morning as if an offer was going to suddenly appear, then go about your day as if maybe this evening something would show. At least that’s how most days went. Today everything that could have gone wrong, had. Your alarm hadn’t gone off because your phone was dead, your charging cord seemingly having given up its last breath sometime over the last twenty-four hours. Then the hot water had been out, for the third time this month, so you were shivering like a drowned sewer rat as you hauled yourself into your car, running too late to make your tea.
Even the Anaheim sun couldn’t seem to warm you as you pulled onto the highway toward Los Angeles. Not even five minutes later a piercing chime sounded through the vehicle and your dismayed gaze fell on your gas light, shining bright since last night, when you had been far too exhausted to brave a seedy gas station in the dark, relegating it as a “tomorrow problem.” Tomorrow was here and you swore defeatedly as you made your way to the next exit, issuing irritated commands at your phone to find the nearest gas station. You swore your whole attention was on the road as you did your best to follow the monotone directions from your speakers as you pulled into the gas station when the motorcycle flashed across your field of vision, fast but not fast enough. You screamed as your brain caught up to the sight in front of you. You don’t remember putting the car into park in the middle of the entry to the gas station and vaulting out of the vehicle, burying your panic as you go into doctor mode, rushing to the aid of the driver sitting up on the asphalt.
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry, sir are you alright? I’m a doctor.” You sputtered as he turned to look at you, a rueful smile on his face.
“Oh, no worries, Doc, I’m all good.” He scratched the back of his neck as he looked over to his motorcycle which lay abandoned a few feet away. “I need to remember I’m not twenty-five anymore.”
“Sir I’m afraid I’m going to have to insist that I check to see if you have a concussion.” You glanced around, searching for something. “Especially since you weren’t wearing a helmet.” You couldn’t help the annoyed purse of your lips. He chuckled, nodding as you squat down next to him, fiddling with your phone to turn on the flashlight.
“So, you’re a doctor, huh kid? What kind, if you don’t mind me asking?”
“Sports medicine, and I mean yes I’m a doctor, I’ve graduated from medical school, but I’m still finishing up my fellowship so I’m not employed as one yet per se.” You sat back on your heels, satisfied that he really was alright. His eyes brightened at your words.
“Sports medicine? What sport are you working with?”
“I’ve worked with a bunch of different ones through my fellowship but my dream job is hockey.” If you ever got a job that was.
His face split into a huge grin. “You don’t say? When do you finish your fellowship?”
“Two weeks… why?” You suddenly remembered that this man was a total stranger as his questions became more specific. It was at that moment that your brain finally exited doctor mode that you realized that he was in fact not a total stranger, not really and you recognized exactly who was sitting on the concrete not even five feet from you. “Oh my fucking god, you’re Pete Mitchell.” The words tumbled out of your mouth in a rush before you could stop them. He barked out a laugh as he extended a dusty hand to you.
“The one and only.” You stared at his hand like you were wondering if it was safe to touch, which is ridiculous. You worked with star athletes for a living and you’ve never gotten star-struck. But that was within the four walls of your job, where you were completely and totally in doctor mode, not squatting in the driveway of a gas station. You shook your head, unsure of how long you’d left him hanging before taking his outstretched hand and shaking it, introducing yourself. “It feels ridiculous to ask, but are you an Anaheim fan?” He asked, flashing his signature grin. You flush, embarrassed.
“They’re my second favorite but my dad’s a ride-or-die.” Pete laughed at your brutal honesty. “But, I mean, everyone who’s everyone knows you.” You sputtered. “You have one of the longest records in the NHL. 26 years is a long time, and with three cups on top of that? You’re practically hockey royalty.” He smiled, seemingly amused with your floundering.
He stood then, helping you up with him. “Could I get your information?”
“Oh yeah, of course. I’m so sorry about your bike, is it good to drive?” You gave the abandoned motorcycle a worried look. “I’m sure my insurance can cover whatever repairs you need.”
“Oh, you don’t have to worry about that.” He shook his head gently, laying a fatherly hand on your arm. “I actually wanted to offer you a job. Well, an interview, I’m not actually authorized to offer you a job, not my department.”
“I mean I did hit you with my car, WAIT WHAT?” The full effect of his words hit you like a truck. He laughed again.
“Sweetheart, I promise you I can take care of the damages,” giving you his best I’m a multimillionaire retired athlete look. “And as for the job? I’m serious. You’re clearly responsible, professional, good in a crisis, and the team I’m working with is looking for a physician. Unless of course you’re already committed to another job?”
“No! Uh, no, no I’m not.” Shame crept up your neck. “I really appreciate this, Mr. Mitchell.” You stammered as you fumbled for your wallet and produced a business card that you offered to him, doing your best to hold back the tears of gratefulness threatening to fill your eyes.
“It’s not a problem at all, Doc. I’ll be in touch, and please, call me Mav.” He handed you a piece of paper in return and you stared down to see his signature scrawled across it with a brief note Congratulations on such a talented daughter. - Pete “Maverick” Mitchell “Tell your dad I said hi.” He said with a wink before turning away from you to his motorcycle. You stood there, frozen in shock as he got the bike upright and drove away with a wave. The moment he was out of view, the tears escaped your eyes. You’d been desperate for someone to take a chance on you, but never in your wildest dreams would you have expected that person would be Pete fucking Mitchell.

Know Better Than This — formerly titled Heated Rivals
Chapter 5: There's No "I" in "Team," But There Is in "Win"
CH Summary: It's the morning after Azriel's first game and first loss with the Boston Bruins following his trade. Let's just say things aren't going well.
Read it on ao3 | Enjoy the snippet below:
“Bruins Blown Away in the Windy City”
ESPN - Feb. 26th, 2022 - By Varian Summers
Last night, Chicago’s struggling NHL team pulled off a surprising win against the Boston Bruins. The final score was 2-4, with one of the Bruins’ points being a penalty shot. Hockey fans around the world were watching the Bruins play their first game with newly acquired player Azriel Cantor (Age 23, RW,) traded three days ago from the Montreal Canadiens.
As the 2020-2021 Rookie of the Year, all eyes are on Cantor to see how he performs as a Bruin. Boston fans have high hopes for the young right-winger after they saw how Cantor and Bruins’ Captain Eris Vanserra played together during this year’s NHL All-Stars Weekend, displaying the kind of chemistry that sparks once in a generation between players. Everyone who watched the All-Stars tournament knows they were witnessing something special.
The real question is: Where did that chemistry go? Because it certainly wasn’t on the ice at United Center last night.
It’s normal for a team to need some time to adjust to new dynamics when players are traded. I think I speak for all Bruins fans when I say that we understand expecting the team’s best performance mere days after acquiring a new player is unreasonable. Let’s hope Cantor and Vanserra can get back into that rhythm we all witnessed a few weeks ago with a little more time together on the ice.
Because if what happened in Vegas truly stays in Vegas, the Bruins may find themselves looking to make another trade sooner rather than later.
🏒 🏒 🏒 continue reading here.
A/N: Aaaand we're back! (I hope you read that in a sports announcer's voice) I know it's been a while, but don't think for a second that hockey rivals Azris was ever far from my mind. I was never in love with the fic's original title so I decided to change it now that I'm returning to finish it. All it took was going to one NHL game for this fic to start sparking joy again, I hope you're ready for more soon!
