I got thinking of the way characters would hug, and well, here’s my HCs:
Dante would either give awkward hugs or long warm hugs like it’s the last time (that’s not fully my HC, I saw a post by @tianhai03 that said it first, and it’s so true ;; )
Vergil would awkwardly hug but because he doesn’t fully know how to go about it and it’s a foreign feeling, but it can be felt that he likes it and craves it (he would never admit it tho).
Lady depending on who she hugs, could be like “neutral”? Idk how to describe it my bad jahsja or playful hug, and if she hugs Dante and/or Trish I feel sometimes she would also squish them.
Trish generally speaking would be an awkward hug but in a she doesn’t mind it but she doesn’t crave it kinda way. With close people she could add a pat pat.
Nero despite his bad boy persona, would definitely give really soft hugs, wether is awkward or comforting or smth else, it’d still be soft.
Kyrie would give the softest hugs and very comforting as well.
Nico would be like pat pat bro kinda way, playful or hard hugs.
V would give a ‘please don’t let go’ kinda hug, maybe still awkward but more honest about it than as Vergil.
Patty would give soft hugs or squish hugs, no in between.
Credo might only hug Kyrie and Nero, and I feel like it’d be a very stiff hug.
Grue would give strong hugs and pat pat.
Nell Goldstein would give an insult and then give the softest caring hug.
Morrison and Enzo I feel like wouldn’t hug, at least not often and it’d still be more pat pat than anything else.
Lucia would like to give big hugs but she doesn’t fully feel worthy of doing that. In a spur of emotion she’d do it although afterwards might feel a bit weird about it.

In my head, Nell Goldstein always sounds like Eda from The Owl House. She just seems like the right type of voice/voice actress for her.
How does it feel to be a genius? It fits so well.

How are the tony's characteristics presented by Goikeda in the devil may cry novel?
The story focuses on the main character; tony redgrave. He is presented as arrogant , sarcastic and carefree. An example of this is in his beggining fight with denvers. He says witty and sarcastic lines amist a very life threatening situation. "Chill out mad dog, you might bust something" showing his taunting and calm demeanour.
This is also seen in chapter 1 phrase 2 where he cares more about his chicken (dinner) then the new person ; gilver.
This creates a sense of arrogance to the reader and goikeda does this as its used as a mask; "his sarcasam was used to cope with not feeling it" meaning he used his arrogant "mask" of sorts to deal with fighting enemies and the fear/boredom respectively of doing so . This is further backed up when in the novel everytime something important or challanging happens his mask fades.
One of these examples are with gilver.
Gilver is the main source of tony showing his true self and that is why he is portrated as the main villian.
How does gilver do this?
As mentioned earlier his first appearance is overlooked by tony.
This however is slowly diminished after he challanged tony with a duel.
"Tony's glib wit had disappeared"
This shows the reader how serious it had become as the reader follows tony's emotions to corrrlate the importance of each event. E.g low level demons get taunted .
Another example of tony's facade disappearing is when his family dies/leaves.
Tony when around his family is presented very differently this is because he cares about them deeply.
This contrasts his usual demeanour of being carefree.
He has a good relationship with grue, a fellow mercenaty who he sees as a brother. When grue leaves tony is heavily affected and this shows the reader tony is not as carefree as we thought.
He is seen to have had a very close relationship with nell goldstein who he sees as a mother and participates in short and quick banter, showing his love and appreciation. He still keeps his witty characteristics within the banter but is used differently from when he is fighting demons.
When nell dies it affects his so greatly that he ends up changing his name back to dante symbolising ripping off his mask altogether.
Then after changing his name, dante shows real emotion and fear infront of gilver.
"Ive never had any friends" dante said coldly.
This gives the reader a sense of dante's true inner self. Without wit or saracasm and a charasmatic facade shown throughout the book in a place of fear and a buffer for feeling.

Family is an important theme in every DMC game. Dante and Vergil are always grappling with Sparda and Eva's legacy, and now Nero has to deal with Dante and Vergil's baggage. It seems DMC characters tend to have complicated relationships with their parents, and the supporting characters are no exception.
Lady is an obvious example. She became a devil hunter in DMC3 because her father, Arkham, murdered her mother in a bid for demonic power. Near the end of the game, Lady kills Arkham, which a line in DMC5 suggests has weighed heavily on her since. On the note of family, an ancestor of Lady's happened to be a priestess who aided Sparda in a ritual to seal away the demon world.
Side note, I've been told it's canon that this ritual killed her, but that doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Sparda didn't have to give a lethal amount of blood for the sake of the ritual, and Lady didn't give a lethal amount of blood to break it. Neither did Dante or Vergil, for that matter. It means little either way, the sacrifice was almost certainly willing, and she'd be long dead by the present anyway, but it still bugs me a little.
Trish doesn't really have parents in the traditional sense, but she was created by someone: Mundus. But Mundus saw her as expendable, easily recreated, little more than a tool to lure Dante to his death. Ultimately, Trish aided Dante in defeating him, and she became a devil hunter herself.
Trish was also made in the image of Dante's mother, Eva. While Trish never met the woman, it's an undeniable fact that Trish wouldn't exist in the same capacity without her - one could also consider her to be a parent to Trish, or at least like some kind of magical sperm donor.
Wether you choose to look at it that way or not, Trish has definitely endured both Dante and Vergil (as V) projecting their feelings about Eva onto her, though the former seems to have gotten over that, and the latter hasn't interacted with her much at all. Despite this, Trish continues using Eva's face, even though she can change her appearance.
On the subject of Dante, one could assume that she was adopted into his family in some way, given that she was trusted to wield Sparda's sword and his pistols. She carries his legacy just as much as Dante does, even though she doesn't share his blood.
Lucia, like Trish, was artificially made, in her case by a human sorcerer named Arius. Mundus only remarked that he could easily recreate Trish, but Arius actually proved it - Lucia is one of many "secretary" demons, and a defective one at that. She was discarded by Arius, and adopted by Matier, who raised Lucia as her own daughter. Later, Matier directly states that Lucia being adopted doesn't diminish their relationship, and that shared history is more important than blood.
Learning of her true nature was disastrous for Lucia: believing she would eventually become a threat to innocent people, she attacked Dante and demanded that he kill her. She later volunteers for a suicide mission because she sees herself as "expendable". I'm not aware that she ever came to terms with these feelings, and I wonder what would become of her if she no longer had Matier to support her.
I suspect that Nero and Kyrie's dynamic - as it's been said, Nero wouldn't be so well-adjusted without her - would be relatable to Lucia.
Moving on from characters who've been playable (so far), Nico's parentage is extremely important. Her father is Agnus, a scientist who created many kinds of artificial demons for the Order of the Sword, even becoming one himself. Agnus abandoned Nico at an early age, and when her mother died, she was adopted by her uncle, Rock Goldstein, who happens to be the son of Nell Goldstein, the gunsmith who made Ebony and Ivory. Nico became a gunsmith herself, and later used her biological father's research for the benefit of a devil hunter, Nero.
Finally, Kyrie's parents were killed before the events of DMC4, so the only family she had left was her brother Credo. In that game, Credo turns out to have become a demon, and to be involved in a plot by her religious organization to open hell gates in Fortuna to draw out and destroy demons (or something). Once Kyrie is used as bait to capture Nero, Credo turns on his superiors, and is promptly killed for it. Suffice to say, Kyrie must have some very complicated feelings about her family, as well as her religion, but such feelings haven't been made known.
It's also worth noting that Kyrie, along with Nero, has taken in three children - Kyle, Carlo, and Julio - further continuing the theme of adopted family.
With the exception of Lady, all of the characters above have some relationship with an adopted or chosen family. With the exception of Lady and Kyrie, all of them have had apathetic father figures who abandoned, discarded, or used them.
So if we ever get that female-led spinoff game (and it's actually any good), then family should be a major theme. But unlike the main series, this entry should have an additional emphasis on chosen families. And whatever tangible threat the cast faces, it should be one that can be a vehicle to explore those themes.

Ask game for Nell Goldstein?
This is gonna be a hard one. I've only read the DMC1 novel once.
favorite thing: old woman characters are great and there should be more of them. She's cool.
least favorite thing: how few appearances she has
favorite line: I honestly can't remember any of her dialogue
brOTP: Nell & Dante <3
OTP: Nell/Not Dying
nOTP: (throws a dart at a board) Nell/Arius
random headcanon: not necessarily about Nell, but Dante takes care of the guns she gave him better than he takes care of himself.
unpopular opinion: I don't have enough opinions about her to have an unpopular one
song association:
favorite picture: there are literally only two pictures of this woman

Dante's care for Nero is something that is so important to me
The absolute joy Dante has after learning about Nero is something I'm never going to get over.
"...though Dante really didn’t care one way or another - he’d never expected to earn actual money from a job that came from Lady, after all - and what he’d ended up finding in Fortuna was something that no amount of money could buy."
Even though he self-imposes this separation between them due to his own experiences with losing those he cares for (his mother, Vergil, several friends like Nell Goldstein), it doesn't bother him as much because he's just so relieved and happy to know he's not the last one. He still has family and that's what matters to him.
It's so obvious to us that in DMC5 Dante is doing everything he can to get Nero away from the whole situation because he doesn't want to lose Nero. Yes, fighting your father to the death is bad but I think it's clear Dante's true reason is that he knows Nero cannot win against Vergil. He doesn't want to even run the risk of putting Nero in danger, but V throws a wrench in that plan by bringing Nero and to make the situation worse, Nero's lost Devil Bringer.
It's not till Nero backhands him with his DT that Dante is forced to see that Nero can handle himself. He'll be okay. That comfort is what lets him go with Vergil to stay in the Underworld, he knows he doesn't have to worry about Nero.
[small note cause I don't know how to fit it in]
The two times we see Dante's actual level of care instead of the front he puts up is when he says Nero's name. The first is in DMC4 when he shouts for Nero in the Savior, which is the first time he ever says his name. We get that moment of fear, that "please be okay" that goes unspoken but is heard in the way he calls out Nero's name. The second time is when Nero stops Vergil and Dante and we get a "Nero?" It's a mix of shock, disbelief, and possibly some relief at seeing Nero exhibiting such power. I half-wonder if Nero's demonic presence that Dante had felt before had faded when he lost Devil Bringer and that this moment is the first time Dante is sensing it since then, and it's stronger.
