Please Leave Elizabeth Yu Alone.
Okay, so as you all may know, the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender has made its announcement of Season 2 coming soon, so you know there's a lot of excitement and thrill among the fanbase. I was scrolling through my for you page (on TikTok) and came across the video with the announcement, and I was enjoying the actors expressing their happiness, wrapping up the 2nd season, and prepping for the production of the 3rd one.
I was hoping that my feelings would be mutual amongst the fans, but to my surprise, it was DRENCHED with backhanded or snarky comments about Elizabeth Yu's appearance.
(This is how Elizabeth Yu looks now, my apologies, I can't find a better picture).
Tumblr media
Some of the criteria stated, as I quote, "She now looks suited to play Azula", "Oh, thank God they recast her" (even though it's literally the same actress), "Oh Azula, I wasn't familiar with your game", and "Seems like the bully paid off . Look at her now" (yes, this is an actual quote).
Mind you... All she did was lose a little weight, and now EVERYONE loves her.
Elizabeth Yu was never "fat/chubby" as those losers claimed that she was.
Tumblr media
She has a normal body that most people her age would have had (she was about 18/19 at the time of filming). They are over here talking about how she would be able to perform stunts (due to her weight) and whatnot (mind you... those would have been performed by stunt doubles anyways, regardless of the actor/actress' weight, so...???).
Not to mention, back then, people were suggesting that Ashley Liao (given her role as Clemensia Dovecote) and, even now, with her recent fame, Miku Martineau (Yumeko in Netflix's "Bet"), should have been the one to play Azula instead of Elizabeth.
(Ashley Liao)
Tumblr media
(Miku Martineau)
Tumblr media
So I'm here sitting and thinking to myself... y'all would have HATED if Miku or Ashley was given this role, saying some dumb shit like, "They should have been casted as Ty Lee", "Their features are too soft", or just whatever BS, they can pull of out their asses.
(This was on a TT video of a Miku Martineau's interview on playing Yumeko)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like, dont get me wrong, Ashley Liao and Miku Martineau are SPLENDID actresses and I would love to see them in more roles, but... I really doubt they would approve of anyone dogging on Elizabeth just to uplift them (Ashley and Elizabeth follow each other on Instagram ffs).
I really dont give a rat's ass how you feel about Elizabeth's casting as Azula, but don't you EVER harrass her. She's just trying to make a name for herself in this vigorous industry, and Asian representation is very limited as it is. Avatar: The Last Airbender is such a good stepping stone for so many (unknown) Asian (and Indigneous) actors in this project... so to see so many people shame and bully them just trying to get their name out and then go ahead and suggest more known Asian actors (just because they're a more familiar face or they look more "accurcate" to a few pixels (some of them wouldn't even pass as 12-16 kids)) is really disheartening.
I just really hope that Elizabeth "lost" weight because she genuinely wants to and not because of the relentless bullying by the asian fetishers, the 50 y/o grandpas w/ 2 kids, and the "no posts/content" losers who can never have their face as their pfp for some reason...
It really isn't hard to just not leave a nasty comment on an actor's socials, they're people too with feelings and thoughts of their own.
Elizabeth Yu IS Azula. And if you have a problem with that, it's simple;
Do. Not. Watch. The. Show.
There are tons of fan remakes of iconic ATLA scenes on YouTube. Go watch those instead.

Do you think when Sarandos talked about Meghan’s impact on culture, he’s also talking about the impact of Meghan’s accusations against the BRF? Ever since Meghan accused the BRF of racism, there’s been an influx of shows and movies about the monarchy with color blind casting. Anne Boleyn was played by Jodie Turner-Smith. Edward VI was played by a black actor in My Lady Jane. In Netflix’ very own Queen Charlotte show, there was even a storyline about Lady Danbury fighting for her son to be allowed to inherit a title.
Also Sarandos saying that Harry and Meghan are “over-dismissed” feels like he’s justifying their decision to keep backing them up amidst other companies like Spotify dismissing them. They weren’t dismissed by people in the beginning. They were overrated, and then dismissed because people realized there’s not much substance. I’m sure Netflix didn’t sign them in the first place because they were willing to bet on over-dismissed individuals. They signed them because of their connection to the monarchy. I guess Sarandos decided there’s still value in that.
Colorblind casting (eg Hamilton) and race-based casting (eg Bridgerton*) in predominantly/historically white stories were happening long before Meghan met Harry. For example:
Eartha Kitt played Catwoman in 1967.
Morgan Freeman played Red in Shawshank Redemption in 1994. (Red was written to be an Irishman.)
David Oyelowo played Henry VI in 2000. (He also played Javert in the 2018 Les Mis.)
David Harewood played Friar Tuck in a 2006 production of Robin Hood.
Miss Moneypenny in the Daniel Craig Bond franchise was played by Naomie Harris, and Jeffrey Wright played Felix Lester. Daniel Bond began in 2006 with Casino Royale.
So if anyone should get any credit for being the catalyst that let Black actors play historically white roles, it’s Eartha Kitt. Certainly not Meghan Markle. Meghan did make it much more relevant, though, particularly when it came to stories about the British monarchy.
Also, some quick research about these productions would have told you that two of them were cast and in production *before* Meghan accused the BRF of racism. Her accusations came in March 2021 via the Oprah interview; Jodie Turner-Smith was cast as Anne Boleyn in October 2020 and Bridgerton* cast their principal stars in July 2019. So that theory, that these characters/plots were developed as a response to the racism allegations) isn’t valid.
But the overlap of those roles with Meghan’s allegations certainly made them much more relevant. But that’s all - relevant and coincidental. Art imitates life and life imitates art.
*the creators intentionally had a diverse cast because they were interested in exploring race. The inspiration came from the 1940s scholarly discourse of Queen Charlotte being a Black woman, plus Shonda’s own desire to make the show fresh and relevant. You can find interviews where they talk about this.

Tumblr media
Information: this is inspired by the Netflix film 365 Days
Warnings: toxic premise (but hey it’s fantasy fanfiction!), cursing, mention of sex, abduction by sedation
Mature 18+ readers only, please
He had to have her.
It had been hours. Days. Weeks. He couldn’t go on like this. He needed to claim her as his very own. The only thing better than reading her words or seeing her face in his mind over and over again, was to have her right there, physically in front of him.
And she couldn’t get away.
He needed her in order to survive. She helped him. Without even meeting him, she soothed and comforted him more than anything, any person. No drug on earth could fill him the way she could.
Timothée was reeling from the disappointing reaction to his last film, Bones and All. Even though he'd been cast in a new movie about Willy Wonka, it had been hard to shake the feeling of defeat. Bones had been a passion project; it was his first producing credit as well. But it didn't translate to audiences or critics well at all. It threw him into a depression like he hadn't experienced before.
He moved to London temporarily to work on Wonka. After everything with Bones, all he wanted to do was work and fuck. And that's what he did. He did little else besides those two things. He had his roster picks of women flown to London for a rendezvous on numerous occasions while he was there. But there was no spark in his life. Nothing that piqued his interest.
His performance at work started to suffer. He wasn't immersed in it, and it showed, making other people take notice. He knew that he was becoming difficult to work with. He was ashamed but didn't know how to change it.
On top of it all, his grandmother wasn't doing well. Perhaps that was the main cause of his withdrawal from normalcy. All of it mixed together made for the worst year of his young life. This was supposed to be an exciting time. His career had been blossoming before Bones and All. And with Wonka, there was hope. But he remained practically catatonic.
And then she happened.
He saw her the day he heard the news of his grandmother passing. He passed her on the street in New York, he was taking a break from filming to be near his sick grandma. It was so random. He had no way of knowing that he'd be struck by someone's presence. As devastated as he was, he couldn't help but notice the glow around her. Like she was planted there just for him to see.
He couldn't get the strange young woman out of his head from that day on.
He saw her again, but it was only a photograph, a photograph on the back cover of a book in his mother's living room. She was an author, named Cameron Reese. He couldn't believe that it was really her, but he'd bet every cent to his name that it was the same woman he'd been entranced by before.
It felt like fate to Timothée.
He bought every book she had ever published. All seven of them. They were of the romantic genre, mostly. But the books were clever, and often sexual. Her stories really spoke to his soul. These were characters he could relate to in ways he hadn't felt before when he'd read books by other authors. She was brilliant, as well as beautiful.
He was able to do a Google search on her and found a couple of televised interviews she had done. He ended up falling even harder for her.
It was her voice, the way she spoke from her heart so endearingly, the way she pondered in her mind over every question, she was quirky but not in a 'hey look at me I'm so relatable' way. She was real, and unapologetically herself.
She wasn't vain or vapid like the women he was used to dating, or rather forced to be around for publicity reasons. She wasn't so much into fashion, or the beauty industry. She had more depth. She was able to joke without being mean or offending anyone. She was genuinely interested in what others brought to the table. She was a creative soul, he could tell.
She brought him back to his early days of wanting to become an actor, and how he felt back then. What it felt like to just want to learn and be better, to be an artist. That's what she was, an artist.
Timothee loved her. He decided that she would be his wife one day. She was the only person he could see standing next to him for the rest of his life. A real partner with a great head on her shoulders. His absolute equal. He also wanted to fuck her brains out, day after day, year after year, until the day he died.
.......
Everything went according to plan. She was there, in his L.A. mansion, still sleeping due to the heavy sedation. Now, Timothée just had to explain everything once she was awake.
He knew what he had done was terribly, morally wrong, but he was drowning. He was bound to grab onto someone as the sorrows became too much to bear alone.
.......
He waited anxiously for a few hours. In his head, he went over everything he wanted to say to her. He knew she would be afraid, as anyone would be in her situation. But he would try to soothe any worries she had. He didn't wish to harm her. He wanted to give her the world, to treat her like a queen. All she had to do was let him.
One of his guards let him know that Cameron was awake and was let out of her room. She remained in the den, waiting.
She needs to know what the hell is going on, he thought. The poor girl must be terrified. But she would soon be assured of her safety. Timmy made haste, heading to her location in the sprawling mansion.
Timothée stepped into the den; Cameron was standing in the middle of the room, as if she was in a daze. The sedative was still affecting her.
"Cameron?" he said as carefully as he could muster, so he didn't startle her too much.
She turned to him, she wasn't crying or anything, but she was scared, he could see it plainly. She blinked a few times, then her eyelids closed, and she collapsed.
Timothee reacted quickly to catch her in his arms.
A bad reaction.

Steven Soderbergh Concerned About Lack of Streaming Data Transparency
"Labor unrest has fully taken hold in Hollywood amid the ongoing dual WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Although the AMPTP and WGA agreed to resume talks, a gulf between the two sides remains as writers and actors fight for better pay and better protections within the workplace. A number of issues beyond compensation need to be addressed too, including fears of generative AI taking over human jobs - a fear that studios have done nothing to assuage. Academy Award winner Steven Soderbergh has never been quite as concerned by AI's ability to replace workers. Rather, in an interview with Defector for his new web show Command Z, he explained why he's more concerned about the lack of data transparency from streamers and how it affects creatives.
"Data transparency is the one that keeps me up at night," Soderbergh said when discussing where he stands on AI. Since working with Max on projects like Let Them All Talk and Full Circle, he revealed that the streamer gave him next to no information on how his work was actually performing on the platform, opting instead to use vague statements like "We feel good about these numbers," and "The comps are right in line with what we were hoping for." If a show is successful, the public, too, is usually given only a confusing metric to go by to define that success. To Soderbergh, AI is a tool that can be dangerously misused, but this adherence to keeping numbers hidden indicates a deeper rot in the industry.
"Well, it's just, there are two potential reasons that we're not getting all of the information," he continued. "One is that they're all making a lot more money than anybody knows and that they're willing to tell us. The other is they're making a lot less money than anybody knows. And they don't want Wall Street to look under the hood of this thing in any significant way because there'll be a reckoning that will be quite unpleasant." While all signs point to the former, he thinks either result is bad news for the industry as a whole. He believes there need to be sweeping changes to how streaming as a whole works, starting with getting information into the hands of the public and, especially, the creatives.
"It's one of those two. My attitude is, I'd rather work in a version of the business where I know what's going on. And if I have to take a haircut, to work in that business, and bet on myself more and take less upfront, which I've done a lot, then I'll do that. That could, though, mean, potentially, a drastic reduction in the amount of things that get made. If we tear this thing down to the studs, and find out that the math is funky, it's going to be quite a transformation. And so my feeling—and I'm operating from a place of real privilege—is the sooner we find out the better, because one way or another, it's gotta get rebuilt, you might as well start now."
Soderbergh's thoughts ring very true in the context of a few streaming horror stories, namely that of Orange Is the New Black. Last month, it came out that the cast of the hit series that put Netflix on the map was exploited with unfathomably low pay and residuals relative to the success of the show to the point that several members were earning more from their day jobs. This was all despite CEO Ted Sarandos bragging about the universal acclaim and attention the series was receiving. Despite becoming overnight superstars, the cast and even the series creator Jenji Kohan weren't shown data on just how strong the performance was until after the final season was done.
A better deal as a result of the dual strikes could ultimately remedy many of these issues by making streamers send more residuals and revenue to the pockets of the smaller actors and writers who need it to get by. Transparency, however, helps keep these streaming services and studios accountable. With better data available, it would mean a better understanding of the success of a show or film and fewer opportunities for companies to mislead those working on the project about how much their work is pulling in."

Zawe Ashton doesn't believe in using checklists to find love
"You have to be open to the human vibrations when it comes to making a match for yourself," Ashton, who is expecting a child with fiancé Tom Hiddleston, told TODAY.
Tumblr media
Zawe Ashton's character in "Mr. Malcolm's List," a Regency-era period piece out July 1, is an accidental matchmaker.
After being spurned by Jeremy Malcolm (Sope Dirisu), a gruff and exacting bachelor, because she doesn't strike off all the characteristics on his "list" of qualifications, Julia concocts a scheme to get revenge. Then Mr. Malcolm and Selina Dalton (Freida Pinto), the woman Julia taps for her plan, end up developing genuine feelings for each other.
In real life, Ashton says she's a better matchmaker than her "Mr. Malcolm's List" character — because her pairings are deliberate.
"I'm quite a good matchmaker," Ashton said. "I have an eye for finding people who complement each other very well. People go, 'Oh my God, are you sure that's going to work?' I just always have a sixth sense about opposites attracting."
So far, Ashton's matchmaking skills have been limited to the professional realm, connecting producers with directors or actors with writers. She has not made a romantic pair — or, as she put it, she hasn't yet.
"Mr. Malcolm's List," which was first a 2019 short film featuring most of the original cast, is all about the unpredictable nature of connections, the very thing Ashton bets on when she makes her matches. Sometimes, as the film shows, the person you expect to like isn't who you want.
Mr. Malcolm's courtship strategy is guided by the list of 10 qualities he needs in a woman. The list, written to attract the right person, also keeps the grumpy bachelor from opening his heart: After a single transgression, a woman (like Julia) is nixed.
"(The list) becomes this metaphor for him. Finding his vulnerability, letting his guard down and opening up to true love," Ashton said.
Ashton, on her end, doesn't believe in having any set characteristics in mind during one's journey toward love.
"I'm a very list-free person. I genuinely believe that you have to be open to the human vibrations when it comes to making a match for yourself," Ashton said.
That said, if Ashton had to make a list, she can name the single essential quality you'd find on it.
"I've said this over and over again, but it would be kindness," she said.
Ashton met her fiancé, Tom Hiddleston, while co-starring with him in the Broadway show "Betrayal." Hiddleston confirmed their engagement in a 2022 interview with the L.A. Times, saying, "I'm very happy."
The couple also is expecting a child. Ashton debuted her baby bump while walking the red carpet for "Mr. Malcolm's List."
With "Mr. Malcolm's List," Ashton — who has starred in contemporary shows like "Fresh Meat" and dystopians like "The Handmaid's Tale" — said she feels she's "found her era."
But while period pieces have always been possible, movies like this are a relatively recent phenomenon. "Mr. Malcolm's List" was first a 2019 short film starring most of the original cast, though Ashton's character was played by Gemma Chan. Then, the 2020 mega-hit Netflix series "Bridgerton" envisioned a Regency-era England where people of all races mingled on the ball room floor.
Other inclusive period pieces have followed suit. Jodie Turner-Smith played Anne Boleyn in a miniseries; Dev Patel played David Copperfield in a movie. Jane Austen gets a diverse remix via the upcoming "Persuasion" adaptation. (x)

Same people worried about TCR are the same ones that worried about Uncharted and we see how well that turned out at the box office. It may not have been your cup of tea but the general public proved that your worries don’t matter. They showed up and it cranked out $400 million and was number one on Netflix and digital when it drop. Feelings aren’t facts, numbers are. No matter your own personal feelings about Tom’s career, the numbers keep proving that you’re worrying for no reason. He has 68 million followers on Instagram, more than any other MCU star and more than Timothee and Austin. His Prada Ad did insane numbers and brought in a shit ton of revenue for them and he posted like two things about it. His interviews on YouTube pull in insane numbers. His Hot Wings episode is about to hit 30 million. Lip sync battle goes viral at least once a month. Even if you didn’t like Cherry or TDATT, they pulled in great streaming numbers. He’s the youngest person on the biggest box office list, the one TomHollandfiles post about. And I can keep going but I won’t. As I said, numbers and statistics speak for themselves. If you’re so worried about what a random person who has absolutely no bearing on anyones decision says about Tom and his career just look at the numbers because those empirically prove that there’s nothing to worry about. A producer whose trying to make a profit on their film is going to want to cast a Tom Holland who can make them get back in the green. They aren’t worried about what Jimbob or Susie from fuck who knows where said about his film or hair, they’re looking at the numbers and are going to bet on him. Y’all have to come offline sometimes and listen to what the general population say about him.

"the writers and actors aren't talking about phillip in interviews and keep pushing theo so it's made me insecure they will replace phillip with theo."
there is no reason to think this when:
phillip has already been cast in the show and has made an appearance in every season so far.
the writers have not yet replaced a canon love interest for the bridgertons so why would they start now?
cvd did an interview with vogue april 2022 and re-confirmed they are not changing the book romances.
as for why the show-runner and actors are refusing to talk about phillip? the answer is quite simple:
it's a spoiler.
i know that sounds silly given the book has been out for almost 10 years, but it is. bridgerton has the largest viewership of any netflix show and most of those people have not read the books! talking about phillip and eloise in an interview about the SHOW that SHOW VIEWERS will read would be a HUGE spoiler!
they don't "care less" about phillip. they aren't neglecting him. when an interviewer asked cvd if we would see marina and phillip again, he flat out refused to answer the question. he said "i can't speak to that".
when simon ashley was doing promo for bridgerton before s2 dropped she was being incredibly coy, didn't talk about about kanthony, would say things like "whoever anthony ends up with" and dodged questions about kanthony by talking about edwina and sisterhood instead. kanthony stans at the time we're complaining that "simone doesn't seem enthusiastic about kanthony :(" and accusing her of preferring edwina and even inferred the show probably "ruined" kanthony and that's why she wasn't taking about it. 🙄 but once s2 dropped, all her interviews are about how much she loves kanthony and how much they love each other. it really wasn't fair to see fans get mad at simone just because she was trying not to spoil the general audience, just like how it's not fair to see fans now accuse claudia of preferring theo or not supporting philoise or not wanting eloise to get married. in fact, i'd bet money she was told specifically not to mention tspwl in interviews, just like how luke thompson never talks about sophie. claudia literally took a cute little photo with chris fulton and winked, she knows.

I have this theory that they filmed a lot more scenes so much stuff the actors just didn't know what would actually make the final cut. I bet there was even another character (probably Will) who was supposed to get Vecna'd, but for whatever reason it was cut. Maybe even more characters were supposed to die. It's just that none of the cast's interviews added up to what we actually got. There just had to be loads more then what was shown and not even the actors knew what would be in the finale.
I don't think so. Considering how expensive the show is for Netflix, they would not have been allowed to do this. I too don't get why Will was in a harness but I don't think he was Vecna'd because of the whole '4 people' thing. I wish that Will got Vecna'd so we could explore his feelings around his personal identity and his time in the Upside Down but after watching Volume 2 it would probably just end up being m*leven motivation where Eleven seeing Mike in his trance would make her want to go to him or something like that.
I also highly doubt more characters died because that would've taken a lot of filming and scripting which would cost millions. I think the reason the interviews do not line up is because filming wrapped ages ago and it would've ended just with refilming parts and might not have all been shot in chronological order as well, meaning the actors might forget elements or get a bit confused.
Thanks for the ask (:

HSMTMTS 2x08 Review
Most Likely To was the best ep of S2 so far and ended one ship while launching another. Let’s dig in!
Gaston was super fun, a very nice showcase for both Larry and Matt. This is the kind of energy that early S2 was lacking. Also feels like the first ep where East High might actually have a shot at beating North High. Covid restrictions played a role but we really needed to see more rehearsal scenes and scenes of the wildcats just being theatre kids. This also may be one of the last times we see EJ perform as a student in the musical so I’m glad we got this.
EJ has been criminally underused for most of S2, he’s marketed as part of the big 4 along with Nini, Ricky, and Gina and Matt Cornett’s name is listed 3rd in the credits but in the early eps of S2 you’d think he was guest star. Lately he’s started to become more important and tonight was an excellent showcase of why he’s such an interesting character. I’m not gonna check but this feels like it’s the most EJ screen time in a single ep that we’ve gotten all season long.
Of course, the main reason for EJ’s increased screen time is because of Portwell. I’ve been neutral on them but tonight they really won me over’ their scenes were so sweet that they warmed even my cold black heart. Matt and Sofia are good friends irl and that shines through in their easy rapport and great chemistry. Gina snorting at EJ’s joke was cute and I loved the shot of Gina accidentally walking into the shot for EJ’s confessional. As an aside, they’ve been doing some fun stuff with the confessionals lately which helps add a bit of the metaness that helped make S1 so great.
The real big Portwell scene tonight was EJ and Gina talking on the couch at Ashlyn’s. Lot’s to love there. Gina’s speech to EJ about what she sees when she thinks of him was sweet and her saying that EJ tried to do the right thing and often failed but kept trying echoes what she said of herself during her confession to Ricky. Also when EJ asked Gina if she understood the feeling of having her life mapped out she replied, ‘’not really’’ which is almost certainly the inspiration for Gina asking a question to EJ and him responding ‘’not really’’ in their pre S2 face time call on the hsmtmts instagram.
EJ is still wracked with guilt for the guy he used to be but Gina reminds him that he’s grown and is a good guy which leads to her slip up about her seeing him that way vs the rest of the gang hinting that she’s beginning to catch feelings for EJ. Which leads to EJ complimenting her and them having a moment that could well have led to a kiss if Ashlyn hadn’t come home. And they cap it off with Gina falling asleep and EJ covering her with his Duke sweater.
It’s been nice not seeing Gina upset over Ricky these past two eps and it’s a damning indictment of the poor writing and pacing of S2 that her story in the first 6 eps can be summed up as Gina being upset over something Ricky said or did. Not only has Portwell allowed EJ to rise in prominence but also it’s allowed Gina to escape the rut her character was stuck in pining for Ricky.
I hope after S2 is over that we get an interview where Tim explains how the Portwell plot came to be. The S1 finale set up some possible interest between them as did the pre S2 face time call but nothing came of it during the first 4 eps, they stood next to each other a lot but barely interacted otherwise. Notably in 2x01, which Tim himself wrote, EJ tries to grow a beard and tells Ashlyn that he says her as so young which is extremely jarring now that we know that EJ is crushing on Gina who is Ashlyn’s age.
Was Tim not set on doing Portwell until he realized he needed to give Gina something else to do other than hopelessly pine for Ricky? Narratively, it made sense after Rini got together in S1 to put the other two Big 4 characters together in S2 but did Tim not want it to seem so obvious to the audience so he deliberately kept Portwell apart until 2x05 where EJ’s feelings make for a nice plot twist? Was he just reluctant to plug EJ back into the love square due to how much more complicated it would make things but later felt he had no other options? Or was it just plain old bad pacing and writing?
Of course, I wish that there wasn’t such a large age gap between Sofia and Matt but there are no Gina ships that avoid that problem, there’s also an age gap between Sofia and Joshua, just as there was between Olivia and Joshua and Matt in S1. Depending on when they film S3 there’s a good chance that most of it will be finished before Sofia even turns 18 which is deeply unfortunate. There’s a broader issue of teen girls being cast in mostly age appropriate roles while their male love interests are older adults and in particular it often affects female characters of colour. Netflix has a really bad track record with those kind of age gaps but Disney has problems too as we’ve seen on HSMTMTS and on GMW where by the end of S3 they had 18 year old Peyton Meyer as the boyfriend of 14 year old Rowan Blanchard’s character (not to mention canon Joshaya which didn’t have such a bad age gap between the actors but was problematic regarding the ages of the characters themselves).
A knock I’ve seen on Portwell is that EJ is just gonna leave for university next year but that was never gonna happen, Matt’s under the same 4 season contract as all the other mains and he’ll be sticking around in some capacity much like Sharpay ended up doing in the movies. It is true that EJ will probably have to move on at the end of S4 while Gina still has her senior year left but that will also happen with her and Ricky since he’ll be graduating at the end of S4. It was a big mistake to make EJ a senior but it also may end up being a big mistake to make Gina a sophomore. It would have been too messy to retcon EJ to be a junior but Tim probably should have taken the chance to retcon Gina into being a junior in S2.
That Rini breakup was so sad (missed opportunity for gotta go my own way). They managed to get in a Troyella reference with the treehouse. This was inevitable they just have not been communicating well though now that we know that Ricky thought Nini left YAC for him some of his desperation to spend as much time together as possible makes more sense. I think Rini is endgame if the series has 4 seasons but it wouldn't shock me if we never seem them dating again and they only get back together in the series finale. It also wouldn’t surprise me if Nini never dates anyone else for the remainder of the series or at least not seriously.
We’re not even halfway through the series so it’s way too early to permanently slam the door on Rini though this time apart will probably help Joshua and Olivia move on from their own bitter break up before it bleeds too much into their performances. I do wonder if Tim really has a clue what he's gonna do with them for the remaining 24-28 eps of the series, assuming S3 and S4 have 10-12 eps each.
Roman Banks killed If I Can’t Love Her and the montage of all the couples or ex couples was great.
It was nice to finally meets some parents other than the Bowen’s and Salazar-Roberts’. Kourtney’s mom was played by Dara’s actual mother and their dynamic was great as expected. It seems from their conversation that Kourtney's father is dead which I don’t believe has been mentioned before. Cash Caswell.... well it gets what the character is about across. He really looks and sounds like a rich Utah republican, I bet he knows Mitt Romney personally. I liked EJ going to tell his father that he’s not going to Duke and recognizing that he wants to build his own life on his own merits.
We saw a bit of that S1 Miss Jenn energy tonight which was fun though I didn't like how curt she was with Seb nor did I like how rude Carlos was to Seb although we know that blows up in 2x10.
Jazzara rising! I really liked how Jazzara and Portwell are sort of mirroring each other and since Mazzara knows about EJ’s feelings for Gina it wouldn’t shock me if helping EJ out is part of him showing a softer side in 2x12.
Of course Ashlyn is VP of the Nostradamus society. It's clear her family has some kooky new age beliefs (her parents are probably members of some naturopathic medicine group on Facebook that doubles as a gateway into Qanon)
It was nice to see Big Red being such a good friend to Ricky and the return of Ricky’s infamous pillow hugs. Lmao at Ashlyn just chilling while Big Red is comforting Ricky
Also Miss Jenn saying sexy and Big Red referring to pillow talk, the writers are adding a bit of spice when cooking up these scripts.
Looking Ahead:
Looks like Gina may be wearing EJ's duke sweater next ep according to some posts I saw. Jack presumably is there to somehow help Gina decide what she wants with Ricky and EJ though him having wanderlust might also feed into Gina’s thoughts on settling down in SLC or moving with her mom around the country.
Let's see what mom of the year, Lynne Bowen, has up her sleeves. Ricky’s bedroom at her place in Chicago looks much nicer than the apartment Mike Bowen has so perhaps she makes a lot more money than he does.
Not looking forward to the Zoom portions of the ep but I guess it was inevitable.
There’s only two paths for Gina’s story to go in the remainder of this season; either she decides to move on from Ricky and give EJ a chance or she decides that Ricky is worth trying again and squelches her budding feelings for EJ. The former looks much more likely after tonight’s ep but either way it needs to be handled with care. Inevitably Gina and Ricky need to talk about what happened between them but if Tim really wants Ricky to continue being a viable love interest or even a good friend to Gina then he needs to really have Ricky apologize and show a thoughtful, kinder side of him that’s largely been missing this season.
What I think Tim is doing is setting up Portwell getting together in 2x12 but Ricky pining over Gina until Portwell break up late S3 and Rina get together in the S3 finale before they break up later in S4 and Ricky gets back with Nini near the end of the series. If I had Tim’s ear I would tell him that he should pick which ship he wants to do, Rina or Portwell, but don’t do both. He wants canon Rina? Great then end Portwell before it starts and have Rina happen in S3 and introduce other obstacles to them getting together rather than having to damage EJ’s character and make him lose another girl he likes to Ricky. He wants canon Portwell? Great then have Gina and Ricky’s conversation be closure for the both of them and have Gina and EJ get together and break them up without Ricky being a cause of it or waiting in the wings to get with Gina soon afterwards. Doing both will be a disaster and I truly hope that Tim Federle carefully thinks over his mistakes in S2 and really plans out the remaining 2 seasons of the series while there’s still time to prevent things from going really off the rails like GMW and AM did thanks to the bad decisions of Michael Jacobs and Terri Minsky.
Until next week wildcats.

Chapter 2 - Show Time
2.8k words
Synopsys: The name of the series is super random, don't mind me. Reader is a postgraduate student at NYU, made a docuseries on her research, and the show got picked up by Netflix. She goes on a press tour and meets Tom on a ‘chat show’. They get together and she decides to stay for a few days in London with him. This could be an amazing few days or more? It’s been interesting writing how they’ll deal with distance and tight schedules once ‘honeymoon’ is over...
Heads up: my first language is Portuguese, so that might explain some things here - of course, I wrote thinking about myself hahaha
Warnings for the series: mention of illicit drugs, angst caused by distance, smut (next chapters, very explicit), anxiety caused by paparazzi, and rude random people taking photos.
Other than that, this is just my guilty pleasure writing so lots of caring sweet Tom and fluffiness.
Chapter 1 - A new city
Chapter 2 - Show time
Chapter 3 - Unexpected texts
Chapter 4 - A new day
No extra warnings. A lot of it was adapted from the real interview, so you might wanna watch it again before reading this, for refreshing. The docu-series doesn't have a name, so you can imagine your own favorite subject.
Tumblr media
HEY THERE EVERYBODY! MY NAME IS TOM HANKS AND IT IS MY GREAT PLEASURE TO SAY WELCOME TO THE GRAHAM NORTON SHOW!
You walked down the corridor led by the stage assistant, but you could already hear the cheering and claps close by. “Don’t worry. There’s a monologue and then he’ll introduce you guys.” She smiled at you. You smiled back. Nervous smile.
“I think I need to poo.” You said.
“What?” She stopped and looked at you.
“No. I don’t really need to poo. I’m just really nervous.” You said. She definitely thought you were in way over your head.
“Okay, just wait there and you’ll go on stage when he calls your name. Frank is there to signal, don’t worry. Good luck!” She said and turned back running.
“Ok. Thank you!” You shouted after her but she was already gone.
“Shhh!” The other guy with a headpiece, Frank you assumed, shushed you.
“Sorry.” You whispered. You looked to the side and Jake Gyllenhaal and Tom Holland were talking. Jake was taller than you imagined. Tom was shorter.
“Oh don’t worry. You’re the star here, you can do whatever you want to.” An older voice said to you. He was obviously joking. You looked to see Tom Hanks. You smiled and nodded. God, please don’t let me freeze from starstruck now. Please.
“Ehh…” You’re pathetic.
“Hi!” Said Gwyneth Paltrow to everyone in the dark zone, having just arrived after you. Everyone responded excitedly.
“You guys are on. On my mark.” Said Frank pointing to Tom and Jake. They looked at you and said hello but you could barely answer before hearing Graham Norton’s voice going:
HES THE OSCAR NOMINATED STAR OF BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN, NIGHTCRAWLER, AND DONNIE DARKO. PLEASE WELCOME JAKE GYLLENHAAL!
And Jake went up the small flight of stairs. The curtains opened for a while and the sound got really loud and everything went bright. You took a look at Tom Holland and boy was he hot. He was looking at you too. You smiled and he smiled back.
HE’S YOUR FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN. IT'S MISTER TOM HOLLAND!
“See you out there.” He said and walked out. You barely had time to process anything when Frank pointed at you and said: “You’re next”. You were still trying to remember how to walk when you heard:
SHE’S THE PRODUCER AND STAR OF A BRAND NEW NETFLIX DOCU-SERIES. STRAIGHT FROM NEW YORK: MISS (Y/N)!
Up you go. You walked out and Graham Norton went to greet you. He went for a kiss on the cheek and you went for a hug. Great. Off to a good start. He laughed it off and showed you the couch where Tom and Jake were standing in front and clapping. You went for a kiss on the cheek this time with both of them when you greeted them.
“Hi!” You said casually. Graham was speaking and soon Gwyneth was standing by your side. She greeted you and the actors by your side and then there was only Tom Hanks left. His introduction was longer and the cheering was way louder. But you weren’t surprised by that. This place was massive. There are so many people here. Way more than you’d think by watching from home.
“We met backstage.” Tom Hanks said pointing to the other guests on the couch.
“You all chatted backstage. I went backstage, I didn’t see the two of you. Nor you (y/n). Where were you guys?” Graham asked.
“We were there” Jake said.
“We waived” Tom said.
“Yeah, I- I was late.” You said laughing a little.
“Very suspicious. I bet you were having your own private party with your entourage.” Graham said making everyone laugh.
“Welcome all! Welcome all!” Graham went on to start the round of interviews and apparently, Tom Hanks was the first topic. You just smiled and laughed along, copying the way Gwyneth Paltrow was sitting and concentrating to keep your posture straight. Once in a while you would laugh and moment by moment you were getting more relaxed, even touching thighs with Tom accidentally when you laughed.
“I started recording Woody in 1991.” Tom Hanks said.
“Guess who wasn’t born then?” Graham said and both you and Tom raised our arms laughing.
“I was having sex I think, by 1991.” Gwyneth said.
“And so were our parents.” Said Tom gesturing between you and him. Everybody laughed.
“He probably meant his mom and his dad and my mom and my dad. Separately.” And everyone laughed even harder.
“Ok. We painted a picture now.” Graham said.
“You never know, it was a crazy time back then in 91” Jake added making everyone bust out laughing.
“Now, our newest guest tonight is the beautiful (y/n). This is your first time in the show!” Graham said looking at you. Oh boy. This is it.
“Yeah! This is crazy. Thank you for having me! And my first time in London!” You answered, blushing a little by the claps and cheering from the audience.
“Now, of course, (y/n) you’re the star and the producer of a documentary. The new Netflix series everybody is talking about. Have you guys seen it?” He asked the other guests.
“Absolutely! It's so good! I loved it!” Tom Hanks said. You stared at him like he just said the most absurd thing, and then Gwyneth said:
“We loved it! It's so different from everything we’ve seen out there.” She complimented you. You put your hands together and bowed your head in gratitude.
“I started watching it today when I knew you were coming here, but everybody is talking about it! It's so good! I wanted to binge-watch everything but then we had to come here.” Jake said.
“Own! Thank you, that’s very sweet.” You said.
“What about you Tom Holland? Have you seen it? Or have you guys met before? Because you have the same age, isn’t that right?” Graham asked him, pointing between the two of you.
“I was the one who told Jake to watch it! I must have seen it twice already!” He said laughing.
“What? Twice?” You laughed.
“Yeah because every time someone’s watching it if I’m passing by, I’ll just sit down and watch along. And all my friends decided to watch it now, it’s like some fever, I don’t know, it’s just really fun and you actually feel smarter binging it!” He said making everybody laugh along.
“But did you guys knew each other already? Because you sure sound like a fan!” Graham teased him. Tom shook his head no and you answered first.
“No…well, I know you. I definitely know all of you. But we’ve never met.” You said vaguely, trying to change the focus from you and Tom. But Graham was on a mission.
“Are you sure? Because the two of you weren’t seen early on backstage so I’m just wondering…” He said cheekily.
“I was late today! It was quite not British of me, I know, but we were very late so I didn’t get the chance to say hello before. Sorry, everyone” You said apologizing to everybody on the couch who waived and laughed politely.
“That’s quite alright. Thankfully you’re not British so we won’t punish you. Well, maybe we’ll leave that to Tom later if you’re into that sort of thing” Graham said making you and Tom very much embarrassed.
“These 90’s kids are crazy man” Jake added making everybody laugh.
“Anyway, we have a clip for you guys.” Graham announced.
[CLIP FROM THE SERIES]
“That’s so great! By the way, I introduced you saying ‘from new york’, because the show was taped there, but you’re not really from NY are you? You’re actually…uh… from (your city/country)! Is that right?” Graham asked you and the rest of the cast looked at you interested.
“Yes! That’s right. But I’ve been living in New York for a good while now so, that’s ok.” You answered.
“You’re getting your PhD, isn’t it?” Tom Hanks asked you.
“Yes, the show was part of my research, actually. I’m surprised you know that.” You said.
“Dude, I told you to pick up a book once in a while. Jake said teasingly to Tom, who just laughed and shook his head looking down.
“You guys are making this so much easier to me. Thanks!” He said sarcastically. Now it was your turn to get embarrassed.
“He’s right though, you might wanna step up your game here cause she’s both smart and beautiful. Do you speak…how many is it? 5 languages?” Graham stepped in.
“Well, I mean…sort of, yeah. I guess.” You answered kind of embarrassed for being in the spotlight, but glad it was about your brains and not looks.
“And the show is so good! I’ve seen a critic saying that is (your reference) meet Humans of NY. In a good way! Where the idea came from? Did you always wanted to film a tv show?” Graham asked you.
“Well, first of all. Thank you for the compliments and I’m truly honored by the comparison to (your reference) and Humans of NY, because I truly watch and admire those projects, so they’ve definitely inspired us. But uh…about filming a TV show, I guess not. I’m researching (your subject of preference). But I’ve always loved to, you know, get in there and get ‘my hands dirty’, I wouldn’t want to write about something I haven’t experienced. So I got to know so many incredible stories and amazing people. I followed their routines and there were so many great plots…I just couldn’t let that go. And I’m really glad I didn’t. It’s like we’re highlighting the extraordinary in the ordinary. I’m really glad people liked it as much as I did because it would have been really heartbreaking if nobody cared, I guess.” You laughed. Everyone was staring at you in awe. You got really excited when you were talking about this project. Maybe a little too excited.
“How did you do that by the way?” Gwyneth asked you.
“Did what?” you said.
“Get them to care about it. To give it a shot.” She explained.
“I’m not sure. I think there’s so much noise out there. And everyone is just competing for our attention, but they don’t always have anything to say. And these people have so much to say. To teach us. I just tried to show that.” You answered honestly.
“Well, thank you for that. And not jinx anything, but I have a feeling we’ll be hearing a lot more about you too. Any new projects coming soon?” He asked you.
“Uh…not really. I’m just living in this high for now, I guess. But it really has already opened so many doors, I’m very grateful for that.” You answered honestly.
“And your boyfriend must be really proud too" Graham asked teasingly.
“No, no boyfriend.” You answered suspiciously.
“Ah! Of course.” He winked nothing discreetly in Tom’s direction.
“So there’s a chance Tom! You might want to pay attention to this next one. Gwyneth Paltrow! What is this I hear about vagina steaming?” Graham continued making everyone bust out laughing.
The show went on and soon, the topic was Tom again. “I was making a film with Doug Liman, in Montreal. And I was playing a real tough kid and he asked me to grow as much facial hair as I could.” Tom told everybody. You just looked very closely at him, because his face was very much hairless.
“I think we got a picture.” Graham said. And then everybody was laughing out loud.
“(y/n)? Is your heart won yet?” Graham teased. You just laughed.
“Oh come on! The kid’s got better moments! You got to give him a chance!” He teased some more.
“Oh man! What is going on with this show? I swear I did not put him up to this!” Tom said looking at you and you just laughed awkwardly.
“It’s true! I did!” Jake said laughing and then got up to high five Graham.
“You know, if this wasn’t going so badly I’d ask if my mom put you up to this. Cause she’s the only other person I know who’s so focused on getting me matched.” You teased.
“You think its going badly?” Tom asked and the crowd “aww” loudly. Silence and some laughs.
“Right, moving on.” Graham joked and everybody laughed. You were feeling a little awkward, especially because you did not want him to think you weren’t interested, just not while in a tv show. But you can’t get things mixed up. This stuff is new to you, but you’re not some schoolgirl. Focus on the job. Stormzy was singing now, so the show must be almost over.
“Oh this is wicked! I was really happy when I saw you’d be here!” Stormzy said when he sat on the couch.
“Me? Wow! Really?” you asked him, surprised.
“Oh-oh looks like you got competition Tom Holland” Graham joked and Tom just laughed and shook his head.
“Well cause your show is just really cool” He said to me.
“Wow! Thank you for saying that!” You couldn’t believe this, someone from all across the world liked something you did. You’re going to get emotional.
“You know that we live really close to each other?” Tom asked him.
“Is it? Where do you live?” Stormzy answered and the conversation went on.
AND THAT’S IT FOR THE SERIES! IF YOU’D JOIN ME NEXT WEEK FOR A LOOK BACK AT SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE PAST 12 WEEKS. WE’LL BE BACK IN THE AUTUMN, TILL THEN HAVE A GREAT SUMMER! GOOD NIGHT EVERYBODY BYE BYE!
This was becoming routine now, but there’s no other way to describe it other than to say that you loved and hated every minute of it. Well, at least it’s done now. The lights went out and when everybody stopped clapping and cheering the producer approached you guys and said you were taking a picture. Graham went for the back of the couch and everyone snuggled a little closer. Tom put his hand on your thigh and you instinctively looked at it. “Sorry.” He mumbled and took it off. You just smiled and shook your head lightly. After some pictures, you made sure to thank everybody and say how much of a fan of them you are. When it was your turn to talk to Tom he said laughing: “Sorry about that whole thing” You could tell he was uncomfortable.
“No, common! He was playing with us. Well, you more.” You dismissed.
“Yeah! It was fun though. Had a great time, it was great to meet you!” He said politely.
“You too. Love your movies! Can’t wait to see the new one.” You offered and heard someone calling your name.
“Right this way Miss.” The stage assistant called.
“Ok, so…bye! Good luck on growing your facial hair!” What. You. Idiot. He just laughed it off. And touched his chin.
“Right. I’ll try my best. Thank you! Good luck with (your research subject)” He said back.
“Alright, thanks” You had to go, the stage assistant was getting impatient. “Bye Tom.” You offered your hand and he hesitated a bit before taking it and shake.
“Bye (y/n).” He said.
David was already waiting for you down the small flight of stairs. “That was really great! Congratulations!” He hugged you.
“That…wasn’t bad, right?” You said. “I actually had fun.” You completed while you two made your way to the little room where you did your makeup and hair earlier.

And more thoughts on Trese with the voice-acting news (bonus thoughts on accents and stuff)
-  Re: Liza Soberano as the Tagalog voice for Alexandra Trese, I’ve seen people say her Tagalog is too ‘elite’-sounding for the part, but idk, she sounds okay to me? Granted I have only seen her in one movie, but she sounds fine.
Now if people are just disappointed are that they got a very popular mainstream actress instead of one of the professional Filipino VAs, then I get it.
-Re: Shay Mitchell as the English voice for Alexandra Trese, I do very much appreciate that they cast someone of Pinoy heritage!
But…I was really hoping they’d get someone who can, well, speak English in a Filipino accent, not in a Western accent. The original comics are set in Metro Manila and have the characters speaking in English, so when I imagine Alexandra and the other characters speaking, it’s like this (that’s Ian Pangilinan and Paolo Pangilinan in an interview for Gaya sa Pelikula).Though of course with characters like Datu Talagbusao  and Datu Gantes, I assume they speak either Tagalog or one of the (many, many) local languages of the Philippines and what we see in the speech bubbles is the for-the-reader “translation.”
I guess this is really just more about my personal grievances with how we treat accents than about the actors. Honestly, when we grow up with English as a second language, sometimes we get taught that we should “Westernize” our accents while speaking it, and um...why should we? Why twist our tongues? And so,  I feel like if they had cast a Pinoy voice actor who can speak English in their own Filipino accent (and there are also many, many Filipino accents!) it might have carried a message of: hey, we can speak this foreign language well while still sounding like ourselves, and it’s on a Netflix show that people around the world can watch!
- That said, I wish both ladies well of course, and I’m crossing my fingers that they do a good job with Alex.
-Netflix hasn’t said yet who he’s playing, but Darren Criss is totally the English voice of Basilio and/or Crispin (not sure if usually cast one person for twins in voice acting ), right? At the very least, I’m betting Basilio because from what I remember, he tends to sing a lot when in flirting mode (or maybe that’s just my headcanon, lol). Either way, if they cast such a popular actor, it’s for a main role.
-I’ve never heard of Carlos Alazraqui, but based on his age, pretty sure he’s Captain Guerrero.
-Twitter tells me Steve Blum is also in the English cast. Glad they got at least one high profile voice actor there! He’s Maliksi, maybe? Or papa Anton Trese, or one of the major warlords.

Squid Game Season 2 Could Center the Front Man
https://ift.tt/3a4ra34
This Squid Game article contains MAJOR spoilers.
One of the most intriguing unanswered questions in Squid Game‘s nine episodes is how Front Man In-ho, revealed to be not only rogue undercover cop Jun-ho’s missing brother but also a previous winner of Squid Game, went from a desperate contestant in the deadly competition to an active part of its execution. Now that the Korean social horror has become the most-watched original Netflix series ever, there’s a good chance we could get another installment of Squid Game sometime in the future. And, while creator Hwang Dong-hyuk did not set out with the intention to make anything past these nine episodes, he does have some ideas about what a potential Season 2 could look like. And one of them centers our complex Front Man…
“If I do get to do [another season],” Hwang told The Times in a recent interview, “one [idea] would be the story of the Front Man.” The Front Man is one of the central antagonists in Squid Game‘s first season. Before we meet any of the VIPs who bet on the contestants’ lives with an air of bored glee, the Front Man is our main insight into the machinations behind the horrific game. He monitors the rounds, watching seemingly dispassionately with a drink in hand (a coping mechanism that could hint at his own misery) as players die on the video screen in front of him. He lives in a luxurious apartment within the Squid Game complex where he receives phone calls from him higher-ups and updates them on the state of the games. When the VIPs arrive in Episode 7 to watch the game in person, he is their host.

Squid Game’s Scathing Critique of Capitalism
By Delia Harrington
In Episode 8, the Front Man is revealed to be Jun-ho’s brother, who the cop risks his life to search for within Squid Game. While it’s initially implied that Jun-ho’s brother, In-ho, was a contestant in the competition who was culled in the bloody first round, we learn by season’s end that In-ho is actually a former winner of the Squid Game and now the game’s chief on-site administrator. For some reason, after winning the game and its massive prize, he decided to return to the fold as an employee of the global gambling enterprise. The Front Man is played by Korean actor Lee Byung-hun and is likely one of the most recognizable members of the Squid Game cast for both domestic viewers and those international viewers who otherwise haven’t watch a lot of Korean-language content (he plays Storm Shadow in the G.I. Joe franchise, and has also appeared in Red 2, Terminator Genisys, and The Magnificent Seven).
Presumably, a Squid Game Season 2 story focused on In-ho would also follow-up on the fate of his brother, Jun-ho. The last time we see Jun-ho, he has just been shot by his brother (notably, not in the head) and has fallen off an island cliff into the sea below. If we never get another season of Squid Game, it seems fair to assume that Jun-ho is dead. But, if we do get another season, it would make sense to bring Jun-ho back, as he presumably represents one of In-ho’s strongest tethers to his life before he became tangled up in Squid Game.
For creator Hwang, who set his thematic sites on wealth inequality in Season 1, a potential second season could use In-ho, and perhaps his brother Jun-ho, as a gateway into the exploration of policing as an institution. Hwang told the Times: “I think the issue with police officers is not just an issue in Korea. I see it on the global news. This was an issue that I wanted to raise. Maybe in season two I can talk about this more.” Apparently, In-ho is a former cop, which is not a detail I absorbed in watching Season 1.
An exploration of cop culture is a heavy issue, one that simultaneously has both global relevancy and can be incredibly culturally specific. As an American, I can’t speak to the state of police institutions in South Korea, but I would definitely be interested in learning more about it, especially from someone like Hwang, who has proven himself adept at handling the exploration of complex social issues in a fictionalized series format. Netflix would presumably be up for it as well. One of their other recent Korean releases is D.P., short for Deserter Pursuit, a drama that follows military police assigned to capture deserters. The series has struck up a conversation, in particular in Korea, about the mental and physical abuses depicted as an institutional issue within Korean military service, which is mandatory for all able-bodied men in the country.
Would you want to watch a second season of Squid Game? If so, what would you want it to be about?

Note
I remember the pic of Gillian with Peter at the TC premiere last November. He wasn't smiling and he looked sad. They probably broke up at that point.
If you believe in the sincerity of this relationship-this is your right. If you believe that Peter looked sad in some photos because of the breakup - that's your right, but ask yourself one question: if this was a real relationship, then why don't Peter and Gillian put up with each other for another two or three months? They are professionals and lockdown makes it easy for them - there is no need to be close to each other at all interviews and pretend to love each other. The PR is over - the relationship is over. I think that at this point, Gillian has completed her PR task and she is no longer needed to promote Peter and his show. I assume that Netflix will choose a different PR strategy to promote the next season, and Gillian has no place in it. The rapid end of this relationship leads me to believe that this is due to the fact that Netflix has now placed its bets on the promotion, including awards, of other participants in the show. And Peter is beneficial to Netflix as the lone creator of "the great show", surrounded by a fine cast. Gillian doesn't fit into that narrative, so she was quickly eliminated from future advertising for the show. Gillian will still promote the show, but only as part of an ensemble cast.
