Configure Multiple IP Addresses on a Single or Multiple Network Cards In certain scenarios, assigning multiple IP addresses to a single Network Interface Card (NIC) can be incredibly useful. Whether you’re managing multiple applications that need to listen on the same port, or connecting to different network segments with one interface, understanding how to configure multiple IPs on a single NIC…

i just need the general population of tumblr to know that the CW of destiel fame is doing a sherlock holmes adaptation and despite being a certified expert i genuinely cannot tell if they're queerbaiting Holmes/Watson or actually going for it and i can't decide which one would be funnier

I loved Sherlock Holmes in the original books, which I first read in the 1970s
My Doctor (in my heart) will always truly be Tom Baker
Loki was one of my favourite (not technically a god) gods some three decades before the Marvel Cinematic Universe was even a thing
I argued as a child about whether Darth Vader could have a redemption arc
I read and re-read my 1990s copy of Good Omens until it fell apart
I am OLD, and damnit—if they do make Murderbot into a TV series I will welcome newcomers to the fandom with arms wide open: because they’ll have very bit as much right to be in it as anyone else

How I would adapt House of Leaves to television
A miniseries with three segments:
The Navidson Record. It is this found-footage-esque horror of the weird house itself.
Zampanò's comments and reenactment of the Navidson Record.
Johnny's vlogs and reenacted events and stuff that happened to him.
As the episodes go on, these three parts shift between each other. As in the book, more and more screentime is taken over by the third one, eventually forming a meta-arc.
An entire episode that starts with the Navidson Record, interjected by Johnny's in-the-corner commentary, which eventually turns out to be longer than the actual footage of the Navidson Record in the story itself.
Screen next to screen, with multiple different arcs going on at the same time.
Will Navidson says a sentence, cut to Zampanó's reenactment of the same scene being different, which stops mid-sentence to Johnny's comments, which then turns into a short story, then we DON'T finish the second layer of reenactments.
Maybe even a fourth layer on top, a "making-of", which starts straight enough, but turns out to be a fictionalised version of the very series itself.
But that is just my take. Maybe others got better ideas. I mean, there is a reason why Mark Z. Danielewski doesn't let us into this house.

Idk if this is a super hot take or not, but given that Battle Network already has more of a completed story compared to other Mega Man series, I'd be perfectly content with never getting a new mainline MMBN game if we instead got a new animated adaptation that stuck closer to the game canon (and included Network Transmission, Battle Chip Challenge, and both mobile games) than NT Warrior did
I know the odds of Capcom even doing something like this are low but god dAMMIT I NEED TO HEAR THE WORDS "SAITO-NIISAN" SPOKEN OUT LOUD AGAIN PLEASE MY CROPS ARE DYING

Disrespectful Adaptations (Continued)
So picking where we last left off, upon hearing about The CW Powerpuff Girls series, pretty much everyone went....
youtube
For starters, this was literally announced a year after the last reboot had ended.
So this was WAY too soon to do.
And there's also the fact that the show would be on THE CW!
The CW is generally regarded as the bottom of the barrel of television.
Tumblr media
Well, scripted television.
Apart from a few shows like Supernatural, The 100, The Vampire Diaries, iZombie, Everybody Hates Chris, and Superman and Lois, just about everything else The CW has made has either been at best, mediocre and painfully average, or at worse, so God-forsakenly awful, that it'll make you wish television was never even invented.
From some of the worst writing you'll ever see on television, to pretty obvious shoe-string budgets.
And not helping the show's case was its premise.
The show would see The Powerpuff Girls as 20-somethings left disillusioned by their childhood and now having to reunite in order to save Townsville from a new threat.
From that description alone, this show seemed like it was gonna be yet another gritty and realistic adaptation of a beloved classic property.
Which at that point, people were already tired of seeing.
Not helping was that The CW was home to one of the most well-known entries of that trope.
Tumblr media
However, one of the most surprising aspects of this upcoming show was that it actually got a blessing and support from the creator of the OG series himself, Craig McCracken.
I forgot to mention this last time, but while he wasn't very vocal about it, Craig HATED the 2016 reboot for how transparently profit-driven it was.
Though you're probably wondering why he didn't come back to serve as the showrunner for the reboot.
Well that's because he was wrapping up production on his latest show at the time, Wander Over Yonder, over at Disney.
Tumblr media
And even with that, he probably didn't want to join the crew because once again, he knew how cyncially-driven the reboot was.
And even if he was onboard for the series, I feel like he wouldn't even have much say in anything.
The reboot generally feels like it was more driven by the higher-ups at Cartoon Network rather than the actual crew.
But back on topic, Craig surprisingly gave his blessing to the upcoming show.
He said that it would've been different enough to not taint the original series.
And you can kinda see where he's coming from.
One of the MANY flaws of the 2016 reboot was that it had a bit of an identity crisis.
It was clearly trying to still be like the OG series, but that failed miserably due to how much they half-assed just about everything that made it so great!
But everything changed when in May of 2021, almost an entire year after the CW series was announced, the script of the pilot was leaked online.
And reaction it got was something to behold.....
People's expectations for this series were already not very high, given everything I just said, but this pilot script was the definition of.....
Tumblr media
One thing that was a surprise to people was that the script wasn't really all too gritty as they were expecting.
It was actually going for a more comedic and campy tone.
And like almost everything The CW does, it failed miserably at it.
The "humor" is the epitome of modern movie/TV show humor.
Where everyone is constantly quippy and being quirky.
Because literally everyone wants to be the next Joss Whedon.
Which like, why would you?
Tumblr media
And the writing was just the purest form of ass.
Just like many of The CW's shows, the script reeked off trying WAY too hard to relate and be hip with the young adult audience it was obviously aiming for.
You can so tell this was written by a bunch of out-of-touch, middle-aged/old white people.....
But where the writing really falls is with the drama and conflict.
The entire conflict of the pilot and eventual series is The Girls having to confront their childhood, as they never got to have a proper one due to Professor Utonium exploiting them.
And not in that way thankfully!
Two things to note here.
This is completely antithetical to the original cartoon. While yes, The Girls did fight crime all the time, they still got to be normal kids! They went to school, they had friends, and they had a bedtime!
This just reeks of pretentiousness. You know those particular fans/viewers? The ones who think EVERY piece of media needs to be as logical and realistic as possible and have themes? Yeah this script is FUMING with that! Like, who the hell asked to see the exploration of complex emotions and childhood trauma in the fucking Powerpuff Girls of all things?! I swear. The people who wrote this would probably unironically say the "you need a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty" phrase. And if I ever met those people, I would give them a swirlie.
But the worst aspect of the script is the characterization.
The Girls themselves don't feel or act like the ones from the original series.
Bubbles especially, given how she's now a washed-up TV star desperately trying to relive the glory days of her childhood.
And the other characters aren't much better.
What they did to Professor Utonium where should be qualified as a crime.
They took easily one of the best fathers in cartoon history, and made him into a total piece of shit!
He exploited his own daughters for the sake of profit and started creating more monsters for them to fight after he accidentally drained their trust funds, which they were suppose to receive on their 25th birthday!
And you know how I emphasized that The Professor didn't exploit the Girls in the way most of you were probably thinking?
Well, that was because of the unfortunate first name he was given for this show.....
Tumblr media
Ms. Bellum was just.....there.
And Mojo Jojo literally gets killed off and the main villain is now his son, Jojo, who becomes the new mayor of Townsville.
Whatever happened to The Mayor we know? I don't know. I don't think even they explain it.
Now with all that being said, this adaptation is already sounding pretty disrespectful to the original.
But what truly makes this adaptation disrespectful is one particular line…..
When talking about how The Professor exploited them, The Girls mentioned one of the merchandising they got was a cartoon, which totally WHITEWASHED them.
Tumblr media
Somebody wrote that.
An actual human being wrote that.
The moment I heard that line, I lowkey wanted to crash out.
It’s no surprise that a lot of live-action adaptations of beloved IPs then to have a track record of carrying this sense of contempt and embarrassment for their source material.
Because as we all know, nothing that isn’t live-action is worthy of any sort of respect.
But this may be the first time I’ve heard an adaptation just….flat out say it.
The fact they claim the original series whitewashed them is not only insanely insulting, but makes no goddamn sense!
It came out almost 23 years before this adaptation did.
It only applies to two of the three girls!
Plus they’re straight up saying THEY’RE the real Powerpuff Girls, which just REEKS of ego.
But the worst part about this line is just how insulting it is to Craig and the many talented people who worked on the original.
Like, imagine how Craig must’ve felt reading that line.
Not only putting down the original series and saying they’re the true versions of the characters, but also lowkey calling him and everyone who worked on that show racist.
Seriously, whoever came up with the line needs to get drag out into the street and shot.
I’m certain Craig was like goddamn Homelander after he watched that movie after reading the script.
And that appears to be the case given that in 2022, it would announced that The Powerpuff Girls would not only be getting ANOTHER damn reboot, but this time with Craig coming back to helm it!
I think it’s safe to say the reason why is because he’s so damn sick of seeing his creation continually being mishandled.
And like, can you blame him?
But anyway, the near-universal scorn the leaked script rightfully got resulted in The CW announcing that they would be rewriting it.
And this was a surprise to many.
The CW has like, no standards whatsoever!
Why do you think we had seven seasons of this?!
youtube
So the fact that the script was so bad that even The CW believed it needed a rewrite, is genuinely telling!
But after that announcement, news on the series would be radio silent for the next two years.
As a result of this, many people speculated that the series was cancelled.
And those speculations would be confirmed when in the summer of 2023, it was announced that The CW Powerpuff Girls series was indeed, cancelled.
And everyone reacted the way you would probably expected:
youtube
And so, people moved on as the planned series was no longer coming out.
But as I'm sure many of you already know, discussion on the series would re-emerge when unexpectedly last month, the trailer for the series was leaked online, revealing the series was gonna be titled "Powerpuff".
As you would expect, people thought it was shit.
All the writing woes that were present in the script were all there.
But most people didn't expect the trailer to look as bad as it was.
As I mentioned before, The CW are known for working on shoe-string budgets.
And as a result, their effects leave much to be desired.
I mean, have you seen The Flash?
youtube
But even by The CW's lousy standards, the effects on Powerpuff were pretty abysmal.
Especially the flying and use of powers.
Like, people were saying that the trailer looked like a skit made by CollegeHumor and even SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE!
And if my project was ever compared to Saturday Night Live in any sort of capacity, I'd probably kill myself.
The only good thing about the trailer was the fact that they got Tom Kenny to reprise his role as The Narrator.
Though I feel really bad for Tom, because I can only imagine his embarrassment with the lines he had to say.....
But that's it!
Let me know what you guys thought about this two-parter!
And let me know if there's any other disrespectful adaptations I missed.
I may make a part 2 to this.
But until then.....
