so the data science company that previously accidentally considered me for a software engineering role sent me a new challenge to complete for the data science role...

except the challenge they sent me last time also involved data science work

...and this one seems about a million times easier?

I am so nervous that I'm somehow doing it completely wrong because all I really did was fit a curve (quadratic) (simple regression) and then chucked the data in a graph and applied dijkstra. whereas last time I spent days looking at complicated statistical models?

I feel like this can't be right and yet. I can't see where I might be wrong. both my steps and my results make sense.

do you have any advice for making stickers? your designs are all so pretty!!

ahh thank u sm!! yessir here's some tips i keep in mind when i design/make stickers (mostly from the perspective of someone selling stickers but these can be for personal sticker making too):

design:

try to use the same brush size/type if youd like all of your stickers to look similar. i personally have two i like to alternate between whether I'd like a smooth vs sketch look

also try to use the same size canvas if youre gonna make a lot of 3 inch stickers or 4x6 in sticker sheets (for example) to keep everything looking consistent

find artists you're inspired by and that'll be very helpful to avoid art block. for me, i adore artists who have similar taste and it helps me feel so happy and inspired to make my own art.

people like stickers that are all kinda the same vibe! i like to design stickers that are cute and vibrant and either feature characters i like or aesthetics i like. you gotta like what you make! (they dont all have to have the exact same vibe of course. but ive found that people will like getting all my cute fandom stickers bc they look like they all go together for example)

printing:

if youre cutting these out yourself, rotate the paper, not the scissors for better control. take breaks too! you don't wanna strain your hand! also its worth it to have big girl scissors (i am a big girl with big girl scissors btw ahahaha)

if youre using a cricut or silhouette machine to cut, please consider making all of your stickers easy peel (basically making the sticker its own mini sticker sheet so you remove the outer border so it's easier to peel) because this helps make sure that people from many backgrounds and lives can enjoy your work! It would break my heart to find that someone who has joint pain, for example, can't use the stickers they bought from me because they're too difficult to peel. (If you're hand cutting your stickers, I have no idea how you'd do this so don't worry! Maybe in the future if you decide to invest in a machine, this is something to think about)

if you're using a cutting machine, yes it will take up a lot of time and supplies running tests to see what works with your stickers! and yes you will have to readjust how you do things with the life cycle of the machine's blades. augh........ such a hassle sdjfhksd

when printing for the first time, you may need to spend time running tests and adjusting the colors. some printers need help with the vibrancy and stuff!

when printing your stickers, please only have a few pages loaded in your printer if you're still testing (or in general! i have my paper loaded in one at a time JUST in case I forgot a setting)

if you're printing at a print shop, make sure your file is PDF and that they're printing "actual size" bc otherwise it may change. this would be bad especially if you're planning on using your machine to cut later.

i personally would not recommend ordering your first several stickers outsourced bc you may end up with stock that never sells.

i hope these helped! some may not apply bc theyre for like,,, a sticker biz but maybe someone out there wants this info too :3 ill leave my current supply list in the tags so i can change it if i find that something changes and i dont wanna recommend it anymore

Uh, anyway, procedurally generated rocks! Middle is the default settings for the procedural setups, and the left and right I played with the settings just to see what I can do, and accidentally-on-purpose made Praenost and Avoalet rocks :D

I'm sure there's precise details I'm missing to make them accurate to the game, but I'm still so stoked with the results n_n

i use csp on my tablet all the time but tbh i'm kinda pissed that i pay yearly what i paid for the windows version on pc that i almost never open bc i can't get it to work smoothly (and my computer isn't the problem)... like.. i know about the updates and ok, do that if you've concluded that it's the best for you, but i wish there was a one time puchase option if you don't care about all the updates bc, tbh i probably use 10% of csp's potential mdrr...

but i definitely can't do everything i need to do with just procreate so :I

anyways.. it's been the same thing forever, i've never been able to find ONE software that has it all, and i just have to use 3 (and another one i don't pay for 🙄)

[i was gonna say that in the tags but !!!! try csp for free before you buy it !!!!!!!!!!!!! just asking around isn't enough... see if your pc can run it, and if you can get the pens to work smoothly first !!!]

i'm sorry to be that one person but ... what program do you use for ur drawings?

Don't be sorry for asking these questions, it's perfectly okay. I am using Clip Studio Paint. I got used to it only on my second try, so it's okay if there will be failings using it in the start. For animations I am using Photoshop though. But I want to learn Blender for 2D animation finally. My inability to focus doesn't let me do that at the moment, so yeah, PS animations only. I will also share updated brushes later when I sort them out, if anyone needs them.

I love being able to set my phone to the side and have it purely for music, I am working on my physical media collection though, whenever I'm doing stuff. Especially stuff around the house, cooking or baking and with the weather warming I'm gonna be working on my garden too. I'm someone who is plugged into technology alot because I like playing video games, alot of my friends and my partner are long distance, and I'm broke so watching movies/TV shows is something I do with my family/partner.

I have a nasty habit of scrolling while I'm watching things which I'm trying to kick, and I want a kindle so I can read without getting distracted by other things and bc I don't have the space for physical books. I've been feeling a bit.....restless? Bored? With some of my scrolling. It's all very frustrating trying to navigate for me sometimes -damian anon

Kind of a vague question, but how do you get your renders to look the way that they do? Is it all in the editing or is it something in blender itself? I feel like I can never seem to get my renders to look like how I envision them.

its a rly big mix of both! ive changed up my rendering process a lot since ive come back, i follow a lot of things in this tutorial when it comes to shadows and lighting and bloom and what not

and then in photoshop i use a LOT of overlays that add muah muah texture<3 my beloved. i have a whole folder thats FILLED with photos to use from light leaks to stains to noise n dust. once i started playing around more in photoshop using things i havent touched even tho ive been editing photos since i was a fkn 12 y/o on mmd deviantart i found a lot of new shortcuts n shit that rly helps too :-) i can make a lil """tutorial""" post abt the things i ALWAYS put on my edits if anyone would find that useful
