Marriage Story (2019, Noah Baumbach)

Marriage Story is a 2019 film written and directed by Noah Baumbach, starring Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson.

When Nicole is offered a role in the pilot episode of a new television series in Los Angeles, she decides to leave the theater company and temporarily go to live with her mother together with her son.

Charlie decides to stay in New York, as his show is about to be performed on Broadway.

Charlie wins a MacArthur Fellowship and uses the first money he receives to pay his lawyer, Jay. Nora highlights Charlie's infidelity and her emotional distance, while Jay magnifies Nicole's drinking habit, portraying it as alcoholism.

In November 2017 it was announced that Adam Driver, Scarlett Johansson, Laura Der, Merritt Wever and Azhy Robertson had joined the cast of a film written and directed by Noah Baumbach, produced by David Heyman's Heyday Films and co-financed by Netflix, which would also have handled its distribution. In March 2018, Kyle Bornheimer joined the cast, followed by Ray Liotta in June of that year and Julie Hagerty in November.

Filming of the film, which had a budget of approximately 18 million dollars, began on January 15, 2018 and ended in April, taking place in New York and Los Angeles.

The first trailer for the film was released online on August 20, 2019.

The film premiered on 29 August 2019 in competition at the 76th Venice International Film Festival.

The US premiere was held on October 4, 2019 at the New York Film Festival. The film had a limited distribution in US cinemas by Netflix starting from November 6 of the same year, being then released on its streaming platform starting from the following December 6. In Italy, the film was distributed theatrically by the Cineteca di Bologna starting from 18 November 2019, and was then released on Netflix at the same time as the of the world.

In January 2020, it was announced that the film would receive a DVD and Blu-ray release from The Criterion Collection.

The Italian dubbing of the film was carried out at Dubbing Brothers Int. Italia and edited by Stefanella Marrama.

57 years ago today...

"Batman" premiered on ABC TV, January 12th, 1966. The series quickly became a cultural phenomenon. Children were able to watch it as a straight adventure series, while adults could appreciate it's camp sensibilities and dead-pan humor. The series had a colorful pop art style that was unlike anything else on TV. The series also had a huge impact on sales of Batman comics, as well comic books in general, and helped launch Batman into his current status as the most popular comic book character of all time.

The series was originally intended to be an hour long, but ABC only had two half-hour time slots available, so the episodes were split in two. Which the first part of the Episode would leave our Dynamic Duo in a cliff hanger for the BATFAN’s to stay tuned into the the second part of the story and wonder how their Heroes will escape from the rogues gallery of villains

Nora Frances Elizabeth Collyer (1898-1979) pintora canadiense.

Nació en Montreal, Quebec. Su padre, Alfred Collyer, abandonó Inglaterra a la edad de dieciséis años y, después de graduarse en la Universidad McGill, se unió a la General Electric Company de Canadá. Alrededor de la época del nacimiento de Nora, la familia se mudó a Tupper Street en Westmount, un suburbio de Montreal, donde vivieron hasta 1916.

En su juventud, asistió a la Escuela para niñas de Trafalgar desde 1910 hasta su graduación en 1917.

Nora dejó AAM en mayo de 1921 y luego compartió estudio con Anne Savage. En 1924 las artistas ya no podían costear sus estudios; sin embargo, las mujeres supervivientes Mabel May, Lilias Newton, Mabel Lockerby, Anne Savage, Sarah Robertson y Nora Collyer formaron una red que se expandió para incluir a Prudence Heward, Kathleen Morris y Ethel Seath.

Nora comenzó su carrera docente en septiembre de 1925. Aunque no tenía formación previa en enseñanza, fue nombrada profesora de arte en la Trafalgar School.

Después de cinco años, su carrera docente se detuvo abruptamente debido al fallecimiento de su madre, Gertrude Palmer en 1930. Nora la cuidó todo el tiempo que pudo, pero finalmente tuvo que internarla en un asilo de ancianos. Nora vivió en el dúplex hasta que murió, apenas doce días después de su amiga.

Woody gave us the song, “This Land is Your Land”—a land for all people. He taught people how to view America and social issues through the lens of a song, saying, "I hate a song that makes you think that you are not any good. I hate a song that makes you think that you are just born to lose. Bound to lose. No good to nobody. No good for nothing. Because you are too old or too young or too fat or too slim or too ugly or too this or too that."

Das ist ein typischer Frauenroman. Mein weiß von Anfang an wie er ausgeht. Das Buch ist unterhaltsam geschrieben. Es hilft, wenn man die Anspielungen auf Nora Ephron Filme und Friends versteht. Mir hat es gefallen.
