#OC Bios and Refs

Hey, it's bio man! Or at least that's my way of using his "nickname" that would translate closer to "A marital-man-partner to beating-objects" or well, a nature guy. He's one of the main characters of the story, directly involved with the expedition to Pimple Island.

At the moment, he lives among 'monk-priests' of a Ciwan monastery but isn't one himself. He seeks shelter there in exchange for service to the pack. Most people in his position only wash away their family name, then gain a new monk name, and eventually also take on the new gender and title among the workers of the gods. Bio man has been living in the monastery for years without trying to get any of that and is considered something of a freak for his way of isolating himself from the social groups that slomen so strongly gravitate to. Some of the slomen there even think he's only there to gain access to the archived knowledge, or is even some sort of spy.

But bio man is just a person who wants to be alone, untouched, unsensed - an easily overwhelmed guy. Humanoid in attitude but still emotionally lacking due to, well, not being a human that can just do his own stuff forever.

He has his own plans and motivations, but for now, his actions mostly include collecting plants, rocks, and carcasses to bring back to the house to stare at (as some would put it). And thanks to the pity of the higher priests, this only affects his nickname. (Well, it also got him the mark of knowledge, which he has to wear in public as one of his services to the house. It makes outsiders aware they can ask him questions, mostly nature-oriented.)

I already posted him outside Tumblr, hoping I would be done with his other outfits when I post him here, but I think I will just post them in a reblog later with more context for them and the setting.

Quinn Soulthorn is relatively young for a dryad - his sapience began forming only 19 years ago. He belongs to a Soulthorn, a dark thorny tree that grows in areas thick with death magic, often atop corpses. Quinn himself sprouted in the Wyrd, atop an unlucky member of the wild hunt. Perhaps this macabre existence lended itself to his natural talents with necromancy. For Quinn, tapping into the magic around and inside of him is as easy as breathing, not that he would know, mind you.

Curious from the start, Quinn has always had a deep interest in the nature of everything - life, death, and the way magic intertwines with it all. He loves nothing more than closely observing everything, be it animal or person, with the same rapt gaze, prodding until something interesting to happens, if he must. He twisted himself into a more mobile form so he could follow his subjects around, for further inspection if need be. This pestering every froudling, fae, and spirit he came across was how he taught himself.

It was inevitable really, in such circles he would eventually hear talk of the man some called most powerful mage Avalon had ever seen, Merle Ambrose. More fascinating to Quinn was this Ravenwood he ran away to, a place one could glean wisdom from the even trees. He knew from the moment he heard of such place that he had to go there. He doesn’t know why he felt such a call, or how he managed to get through the Spiral Door without a key. He simply says he was doing what he knew was right. That the Spiral itself wanted him to. That he felt the leylines reverberating up through his roots, beckoning him forward.

It’s inevitable people tend to find Quinn off putting. He watches people like they’re insects, he talks about magic in ways that confuse his fellow students, and the way he speaks about the beauty and inevitability of death makes most people deeply uncomfortable. Deep down even Merle is somewhat wary of this mysterious froudling, after all, was the Wyrd not the source of the horned crown that doomed Avalon and his star pupil? He doubts it’s a coincidence this dryad managed to uproot and present himself to him right when Ravenwood needed a champion. Though he tells himself it’s the work of Bartelby, or even a blessing of fate itself, deep down he can’t fight the worries of something more sinister.

Quinn is doing his best. He is not oblivious to his strangeness as some may think, it just doesn’t concern him the way it does them. He doesn’t know any other way to be, and it suits him perfectly fine, at least for now. His magical focus is a harp, crafted from the spine of the Deer knight who nourished him and wood from his own tree, a powerful connection to death magic indeed. People have mixed feelings on his music, some saying the notes he plays are truly captivating, while others claim they get the feeling of someone walking on their grave when they hear his songs.

Quinn needs to regularly revert back to his tree form and plant his roots to recoup his energy - his own form of eating and sleeping. He leaves behind mushroom circles whenever he does so. Dryads do not normally identify with genders the way other Spiralfolk do, but Quinn has adopted a male identify, it just feels right. His pet, Old Dakota, is an Avalon crow that flew straight into his tree and croaked. Not normally one for depriving the cycle of life and death, he feels especially attached to the bird, keeping it reanimated as a travel companion.

Introducing the Reverse Age AU Brozone parents! Reed and Mercury! ft. Clay and JD egg mode Reed (they/them) is the adopted child of Rosiepuff after they were orphaned at a young age, and worked as a teacher in the Troll Tree. Very tall, absolutely where Clay gets his height from. A very warm and optimistic individual. Mercury (she/her) is actually a Rock Troll who also happens to be the sister of Barb's mother, making the brothers and Barb cousins, and the bros Pop/Rock! Which none of them realize... yet. Mercury was always adventurous and when her sister got married to King Thrash she decided to go off on her own to find out what was out there for her. She eventually found herself near Bergen Town and was actually chased around and ended up at the cage and saved from the clutches of a Bergen by Reed who pulled her to safety. The two clicked and a few years later settled down and started a family.

Important Information

A scientist working for the GDA on Project Janus, a top-secret weapon/tool that allows the GDA to recreate their greatest minds should they be lost by reuploading their consciousness to a backup system and emulating them via hologram technology and AI communication systems taught by the memories input by the deceased before the time of death. 

Closest with Cecil overall, which, of course, leads to untimely death. 

While working on Project Janus, she believed it did not work when she initially uploaded her consciousness as a test run. Trying to activate it reared no results until months later when she’d die at the hands of Omni-man or Nolan Grayson. 

During the altercation with Omni-man following Donald’s death, when Cecil was teleporting in to try and buy some time, Amelia grabbed onto his arm in an attempt to stop him – afraid he wouldn’t come back. Instead, however, during one of the many times Nolan lunged at Cecil, she’d throw herself to push him out of the way, ending up nothing but gore. (Episode of death is S01E07)

Once the dust settled after the massacre in Chicago, Cecil would return to Amelia’s office to look over her belongings. Only to see a blinking green light on that new device she’d poured herself into over the last few years. Pressing the button revealed a hologram of Amelia’s face and shoulders. Project Janus was a success. And here she was to prove it. 

From this point on, Cecil keeps the device on him. It is used as a sort of AI assistant like Cortana or Siri, although it has much more weight behind it, considering the unspoken feelings between the two. Feelings he’d never be able to tell the ‘real’ her again.

Fun Facts 

The GDA had employed her for the last 20 years before her death.

Once Cecil became director of the GDA and Amelia was still just a technician, she began to model her work ethic after the man. Sometimes being referred to as his shadow. 

She and Cecil were ‘partners’ or ‘lovers’ for lack of a better term, and due to the two of them never establishing a relationship in any official context before her passing. 

When she learned about how Donald and other GDA agents had been brought back with robotic exoskeletons, she quickly decided she wouldn’t want that in the unfortunate time of her passing. Instead, she poured herself into researching and beginning Project Janus to continue to be useful even after her death without losing her sense of herself like Donald did at times. 

She spent her entire adult life devoting herself to work until she began seeing Cecil. Even their ‘relationship’ originated from the workplace and her admiration for him. 

The hologram version of Amelia that Cecil carries around and uses as an assistant is not truly her. It only contains her memories up to 6 months before her death because that was when she uploaded the backup of her consciousness in the testing stage – meaning, she does not remember the moments leading up to her death or that she sacrificed herself for Cecil until he tells ‘her.’ 

Cecil knew she loved him, and she died not knowing he returned her feelings. 

Before she and Cecil began to see one another outside of work, Amelia was known for working late and falling asleep at her desk. 

She only really stopped because Cecil began to check in on her around the end of their days and escort her to his home.  

While it was obvious to most other GDA employees that she and Cecil were close, only Donald ever actually found out about their romantic entanglement. 

After her death, Cecil keeps a framed photo of Amelia in his office beside the framed picture of Donald. 

Cecil tries to move on and act as though her death was just another one of many in this line of work, like it didn’t bother him more than usual – but it does, pushing him further instead.

Luco is a common Pretztail. A species found almost everywhere on Piñata Island. He prefers the pronouns: He/Him and They/Them. Though ultimately doesn't mind. Luco is Bisexual, but doesn't yet have an official mate.

Like most of his species, Luco is mischievous- and above all else, likes to have fun! He's Nomadic in nature, But can be tamed with the usual Pretztail methods.

His favourite candy is of course 'Bunnycomb candy' But a close runner up has to be 'Cluckles candy' then 'Joy candy'. He has a distain for anything sour- Especially 'Sour candy' and spends most of the day searching for his favourite snacks!
