just wanted to ask, what is wrong with the amish.tripathi books? I'm curious to know
Nothing is "wrong" per se. It's just that they're not exactly my cup of tea. They're kind of tropey and clichéd, for me. I won't deny that the author tries to incorporate creative elements or venture into the unknown territory. It's just that in whatever sphere it is- research or creative elements, characterization, world-building etc. the author doesn't venture too far from the tested path. It often feels like some stereotypical fantasy retelling with the same stock characters with a sprinkle of south Asian culture into them. And I don't really blame the author for that. The genre he's working with is still quite untested as an arena in India, it involves substantial risk. He sure as anything is trying to go for something new while sticking to the safe path but that's kinda off-putting for someone who desires something avant-garde. And it's slightly annoying when they tout the same old thing as a "fresh" perspective, every single time.(And this applies to most mythological retellings, not just Amish's books)
And by this I'm not dissing those that love Amish tripathi's book. I made that ask to papenathys because I wanted something that suited my personal preferences.

Shiva Trilogy by Amish Tripathi - Book Review
The Immortals of Meluha - 3/5
The Secret of the Nagas - 3/5
The Oath of the Vayuputras - 4/5
I absolutely love Hindu mythology, so my interest was piqued when I heard about this trilogy. While I have read various interpretations of Hindu epics, an exploration of the lives of Gods if they had been mortals was a new experience for me. All in all, I would say it was a pretty unique take on the life of the revered Lord Shiva.
The books certainly read like an action movie which isn’t without its flaws (convenient liberties taken to keep the plot moving and etc). But they weren’t bad enough to steal too much from the reading experience. There is also some commentary on the perceptions of Good vs Evil and philosophical concepts.
I could tell that the author had definitely done his research well and the tidbits of information that he linked up were delightful.
I personally felt that these books were fun to read! I enjoyed the adventurous tone they took and finished reading in a matter of days. That being said, I did not rate them as generously because there were glaring loopholes and the editing could have been better. I may have been able to look past these factors with this series, but I understand it isn’t always the case for others. I also would not recommend this to people who do not like retellings that take a very different direction from their source material.

#20 Book Name📚: The Oath of the Vayuputras Author: @authoramish 🤩The final book of the series, yes this was amazing as I was expecting and the only thing which was affecting me was that the book was a little longer as it could have been few pages less. The further review might be a spoiler for some people so sorry in advance to everyone. 😵*Spoiler Alert*😵 The action in this part is very well written that is commendable, each emotion has been perfectly shown. The most hurting part was the death of Sati, I mean why did that happened and after that, the rage was shiva was justified. Why didn't Sati get to meet Shiva in her last moment, that was shocking for me and I'm still in shock with that part. 😱Bhraspati was alive, I mean how can someone has this amazing way of telling a story, the war strategy was interesting to see but some parts were over-explained that made me lose interest in few parts and one thing I didn't get from this that way didn't there were more about the Vayuputras as other two parts were perfectly titled centric but this was little out of the way in some parts. 🤯The ending was EPIC! I totally like the story narration of Amish and would recommend this Trilogy to everyone as it has so much to give to enter this world which Amish will create in your mind. 🥰Special thanks to @book.it.up for recommending me this amazing series I enjoyed it to the core. Format: Paperback Pages: 565 Genres: Mythological 🌟Rating - 4 / 5 #books #bookstagram #booklover #reading #bookworm #bookstagrammer #bookish #read #booknerd #bookaddict #bibliophile #booksofinstagram #instabook #bookaholic #bookshelf #booksbooksbooks #readersofinstagram #bookphotography #reader #booklove #instabooks #literature #amish #shivatrilogy #singhreads (at Chandigarh, India) https://www.instagram.com/p/CNF0QehLnUp/?igshid=1qhfb0omzdwca

I don't know. It was probably a bit of both. WE learnt from their noble culture and they learnt form ours. Ofcourse, we can go on about who learnt how much and from whom, but that is nothing but our ego, showing our desperation to prove that our culture is superior to others. That is a foolish quest. It is best to learn from everyone, regardless of the cultural source of that learning
