almost yours — a satoru gojo fic (teaser)

pairing — college satoru! x reader

teaser wc — 1.4k
expected wc — 15 - 20k
taglist status — open
warnings — explicit sexual content, tiny bit of angst, yearning (ur downbad for him), satoru is kind of a gym himbo in this one, nerdjo turned fratjo (physics major satoru), will add more as i go along
authors note — well. so.... uh... hi i'm too giddy reading what i've written so far so here i am, releasing a snippet because why not <2
“You go down there!”
“No, I already went when I went to get some chips, it’ll look awkward if I did it again.”
“Okay, let’s both go down there together then!”
“Fine, but you’re gonna have to talk to Suguru on your own, his earrings are scary—”
“Wait but I’m scared too—”
You don’t wait for a response, already on your way out the door before Seiko can trap you into her nerves again. She’s panicking about Suguru’s earrings and his intimidating smirk, and you can’t afford to get tangled in her spiral—not when your own is spinning just as fast. Your heart’s pounding in your chest, the way it always does when he’s downstairs. Loud and stupid and unstoppable.
Satoru’s here.
That’s the real reason you said yes to coming over today, and you know it. You knew it even when you told Seiko, “Yeah, totally, I’ll help you go over functions again,” like you were some loyal academic comrade. She said she wasn’t in the mood to start until later—“We’ll just chill for a bit first”—and you nodded like that wasn’t the exact outcome you were counting on.
He was going to be here. You’d overheard her say it in class on Friday, casual, “My brother’s back for the weekend before his flight. He and Suguru are crashing at mine until Sunday,” and your body reacted like it heard a fire alarm. Instant adrenaline. Sweaty palms. A weird twist in your stomach like you hadn’t eaten all day.
Her older brother.
The one who used to help you with math back when you and Seiko were dumb little middle schoolers with pencil cases full of glitter pens and zero dignity. He never laughed when you got your decimals wrong, never treated you like you were slow or irritating. He’d just nudge the worksheet toward you with a little grin and say something like, “Wanna try that again, hm? You accidentally turned your eight into a three.”
He was kind. And cool. And way too old for you, even back then.
He used to wear big, floppy hoodies with strange anime prints on them, crooked glasses that slid down his nose, and he always smelled faintly like fabric softener and shampoo. He’d ruffle your hair as he passed by the dining table where you and Seiko did your homework, like you were some tagalong puppy. And every single time, you’d sit there for at least ten minutes after, heart pounding, replaying the exact way his hand felt through your hair like it was forensic evidence.
But he doesn’t look like that anymore.
Not since the summer after his junior year. Something changed. You don’t know what, exactly—maybe it was just time, maybe it was something else—but when he came back from his trip with Suguru that August, he was… different.
Taller. Way taller. His shoulders had filled out like crazy, broad and solid under tighter shirts. He didn’t wear his glasses anymore—got contacts, Seiko said, rolling her eyes like it was nothing. But it wasn’t nothing. It changed his whole face. His eyes, already bright, looked sharper, clearer. His jaw had become something out of a magazine, all sharp lines and clean edges.
And he got hot. Objectively, unavoidably, annoyingly hot.
So hot that suddenly he was everywhere at school. Seniors above you whispered about him in the hallway. Seniors with perfect nails and shiny hair giggled when he’d be in the cafeteria with his group of friends. Even the teachers liked him. Everyone did. Liked him in a normal way.
Except you—you liked him in that humiliating, unbearable, long-standing way that made your chest ache and your stomach twist and your voice go all weird and high-pitched when he so much as looked at you.
You remember the first time you saw him again after the summer. You’d put on lip gloss—strawberry-scented, sticky as hell—and you’d worn that white, metal supported bra not your bright, training ones—even though you’d barely matured enough to form… well, boobs—even though it dug into your ribs and made your shoulders itch.
And there he was in the hallway, laughing with Suguru, hair pushed back, earbuds hanging around his neck, and you remember thinking—Oh. I’m in trouble. I have the fattest crush on him and he won’t even look at me.
It didn’t matter. You were sixteen now. Practically an adult. And he was actually an adult. Second year of college— physics major—nineteen years old. Except now he was going to this stupid 3 year accelerated scholarship program with Suguru in Japan.
Now here you are, halfway down the stairs, hovering just out of sight with your heart going insane in your chest like it’s trying to physically escape your body.
Suguru’s the first thing you see—sprawled across the couch like royalty, all black clothes and nonchalant confidence. His hair’s tied up half-assedly, dark strands falling into his face, and he’s twirling something silver in his fingers. Probably a ring, or maybe a lighter. He looks dangerous and beautiful, and honestly, you get why Seiko’s so worked up.
And then—there’s him.
Satoru’s on the floor, legs folded in a messy tangle, like he hasn’t grown a day since he was twelve, except that he has. So much. His plain white t-shirt clings just a little too tightly to his chest, sleeves hugging his biceps in a way that feels like a personal attack. His hair’s a little wild—fluffier than usual—and he’s wearing mismatched socks, one black, one striped, like he got dressed in the dark and couldn’t be bothered to fix it.
He’s laughing at the TV—some variety show with screaming and subtitles—and the way his head tilts back as he laughs, the way his jaw catches the light—
Your heart actually hurts.
You stand there a little too long, shameless, helpless, your entire body screaming don’t look, don’t look, but your eyes refuse to obey. You feel twelve again. Small. Invisible. Watching from the sidelines like always.
And then he speaks. To you.
“You creeping or coming down?”
Your stomach plummets.
“I—what?! I wasn’t—I wasn’t creeping,” you splutter, stumbling down the last few steps in a panic, cheeks already burning. “I was—just walking!”
Satoru looks over his shoulder, grinning lazily. He scoots over and pats the carpet beside him. “Come on. Sit. You’re just in time—Suguru’s getting smoked.”
Suguru flips him off without looking. “This trivia show’s rigged.”
“You just suck at memory games.”
You lower yourself onto the floor, trying not to hyperventilate. You’re acutely aware of how close his knee is to yours, how warm he feels even from here, how his scent is something minty and expensive and a little too much for your nervous system.
He tosses the chip bag into your lap without looking. “How’d that mock exam go?”
You blink. “The—what?”
“Math. You had that calc practice test last month, right?” He glances at you, amused. “You and Seiko were complaining about it for like a week straight.”
You feel yourself short-circuit. “Oh. Uh… kind of ass?”
He laughs, reaching for a chip. “Figures. You always made the dumbest faces doing fractions. Like the paper personally offended you.”
You scoff, mostly to hide your dying brain. “Well, maybe if I had a better tutor—”
“Excuse me?” He gasps. “I was the best tutor in a ten-mile radius. Ask Seiko.”
“She failed.”
“That’s on her. I saw her bingeing dramas at 3am instead of studying.”
“I HEARD THAT!” Seiko’s voice rings out from upstairs.
You all crack up. Even Suguru snorts.
And for a moment, it’s perfect. Easy. Like it’s always been this way—like nothing’s going to change.
But you know it is.
He’s leaving. He’s going halfway across the world, and this stupid little crush, this years-long secret you’ve carried like a favorite book, is going to stay just that—yours, and only yours. He won’t remember this night. He’ll have new friends, new people. And you’ll still be here, sixteen-going-on-seventeen, sitting on the floor of your best friend’s house pretending your heart isn’t breaking just from how his knee brushes yours.
Then—
“Hey,” he says suddenly, quiet, leaning in slightly.
You look up, startled. “What?”
His eyes search your face, like he’s seeing something he’s not used to seeing there. Then he reaches out and tugs lightly on the ends of your hair.
“You’re growing this out?”
Your voice almost fails. “Uh… yeah?”
“It looks good,” he says, simple and real, and you can feel your entire bloodstream catch fire.
He’s still watching you.
But then the moment breaks—Seiko barrels down the stairs yelling about Suguru’s Instagram story, and everything shifts back into chaos. He turns away, laughing again, and the quiet slips between your fingers like sand.
Still. You tuck it away.
Into the little folder labeled him.
Because you’ll remember this night.
He won’t.
But you will.

You dropped onto Olivia's couch with a huff, tears still threatening to break through your stubborn facade.
"Are we gonna talk about it or do I need to have someone beat him up?" Liv asked you, a small smirk gracing her face.
"As much as I'd love to see his ass get handed to him, I think we should avoid committing any crimes," you said lightly.
Olivia sighed softly and reached over to put her arm around you. You leaned into her shoulder and began to let your guard drop. Olivia had been your best friend for over a decade now, your time working together in SVU having brought you closer than you could have imagined.
"He was an asshole, (Y/N/N)," she said softly. "You deserve better."
"You say that, but I guess I just don't believe it," you muttered.
It nearly broke her heart to hear you speak so negatively of yourself, but she knew no matter how many uplifting words she spoke, you would still refuse to believe her.
"Maybe there's something wrong with me," you whispered, tears finally beginning to fall. "Maybe I'm broken--unloveable."
"Hey," she chided. "You are so many things, (Y/N), but broken and unloveable are not among them."
She tightened her grip on you, pulling you into a proper side hug. She let you cry into her shoulder, her own heart breaking along with yours.
You knew, objectively, she was right--your now-ex was indeed an asshole. He'd never treated you well and had often put you down and made you feel terrible about yourself. Your self-esteem had been lower than usual when you met him and in the 6 months you'd been together, he'd managed to destroy whatever vestige of self-love you had left.
There wasn't a single thing about you he didn't belittle. Whether it was your physical appearance, your career, your hobbies, your dreams...he made you feel like everything you ever did was a mistake. In his estimation, you were too fat, unintelligent, boring...and your choice in career was just about the worst thing you could do.
You'd made it your mission in life to help the victims of particularly heinous crimes, which is why you'd been working at SVU for almost 12 years. You were the squad's forensic psychologist, and you loved your work. In many respects, it was the one thing that really brought joy to your life. It was your greatest passion--and the amount of time you spent at work certainly showed it.
Yet during those 6 months with him...your love for the job had begun to wane. Every time you'd stay late or have to cancel a date, he'd berate you for it--mocking your job and your inability to 'be a real person'. Now that you'd finally taken the leap and broken up with him, you were hopeful you could fall back in love with your work.
In this moment, however, all you could think about were the horrible things he'd said to you when you told him you wanted to break up. He'd been especially cruel, calling out every physical insecurity you had and making you feel like an absolute pile of human garbage. He'd called you fat, ugly, unloveable, gross...and a million other things you couldn't bear to repeat.
You weren't thin--you knew that, but you weren't gross. That was just offensive. Unfortunately, he wasn't the first ex to make comments about your weight--something you'd been struggling with for most of your adult life. The words had hit you harder than you'd expected, making you actually think he might be right...maybe you were the problem.
Olivia's voice broke you out of your thoughts, "Do you want to stay here tonight?"
You just nodded, not trusting your voice to answer her properly.
She squeezed you a little tighter, her reassuring presence grounding you in ways you desperately needed. You were always thankful for her friendship, but it was moments like this where you were reminded how much she really meant to you.
**********
You'd spent most of the weekend at Olivia's and by the time Monday rolled around, you were feeling a little bit better. She always knew what to do and say to make everything okay. It was a gift you'd always envied and appreciated.
It was very typical of you to be the first person in the office, having been an early riser most of your life. So you were more than a little surprised when you walked into the precinct Monday morning and spotted Nick Amaro sitting at his desk.
"You're in early," you commented lightly in lieu of greeting.
He turned his gaze to look over at you and shot you a disarming smile. "I couldn't sleep, so I figured I might as well get a head start on some paperwork I've been putting off."
"Wise man. Wouldn't want to upset the boss."
He grinned. "She's strict." His voice was teasing and warm and it made you feel something in your gut you always tried to ignore.
In truth, you were extremely attracted to Nick--it was undeniable. You had not, nor would you ever, tell him or act on it. Nick was so far out of your league it wasn't even funny. Besides, he was newly single, still fresh from his divorce.
"She can be calmed with good coffee and blueberry muffins," you said conspiratorially.
Nick chuckled. "I'm gonna have to write that down."
You offered him a smile before continuing past him to your office. You were surprised when his voice stopped you after a few steps.
"How was your weekend?"
You turned back to face him. "Friday was absolute shit," you said honestly. "But I spent Saturday and part of yesterday with Liv, so it's better now."
A look of concern crossed his face. "Everything okay?"
You feigned a smile. "Everything's fine. Thanks for asking."
His eyes narrowed as he gazed at you skeptically. "Is it that guy again?"
Your cheeks darkened, embarrassed Nick even knew about your ex. "We broke up."
Nick almost looked relieved. "I would say sorry, but it wouldn't be honest. I never liked the guy--he didn't treat you right."
You were surprised he paid enough attention to the things you said to know just how badly your ex had treated you. "Oh?"
Nick stood up and took a couple steps closer to you. He was still a professional distance away, but he could speak quieter so only you could hear him.
"You deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. You're an amazing woman, (Y/N), and a good man would never treat you the way he did. He clearly didn't recognize your worth."
His words slammed into you with surprising force. "I-um-thank you," you muttered softly.
"You can thank me by dating a man who will love you the way you deserve," he said lowly. "Como una reina." [Like a queen.]
His last three words were so quiet you weren't even sure you'd heard him properly--or if you were supposed to hear them at all. You weren't fluent in Spanish by any means, but you understood the basics...enough to know he'd said something about a queen. That is, if you heard him correctly.
You were about to ask him to elaborate when Olivia came into the squad room. She sent a warm smile your way and issued greetings to both you and Nick. Her arrival broke whatever spell Nick had been under, and he went back to his desk quietly.
You went into your office, leaving the door open behind you so you could hear the goings on and the arrival of the rest of the squad. There were plenty of things for you to do, but you couldn't get Nick's words out of your head.
**********
Olivia looked up from her computer when Nick knocked on the doorframe entering her office.
"Mind if I come in?" he asked.
"Sure," she said with a smile.
He came in and quietly shut the door behind him.
"Uh-oh...closed door conversation? Everything okay?"
"With me, yes," he answered. "But I wanted to ask you something and I don't want anyone overhearing."
"Okay..."
"It's about (Y/N)."
Olivia raised her eyebrows. "What about her?"
"She mentioned she'd spent the weekend with you and she and that asshole broke up."
Olivia chuckled softly, glad to hear she wasn't the only one who hated your ex.
"I know it's not really my business, but I can tell something is really upsetting her. Hell, I've noticed a change in her since the moment they started dating--and not in a good way."
"He isn't a good person," Olivia conceded.
"Tell me about it," Nick muttered. "Anyway, I just--well, I just want to know if she's okay? I mean, really okay."
"Why don't you ask her?"
"I did, but I know she wasn't being honest with me."
Olivia sighed. She had a feeling he was asking about you for a reason, but she wasn't sure it was her place to tell him the truth. She was torn between being honest with her partner and keeping her best friend's pain to herself.
"I don't know if it's my place to tell you, but he did say some particularly cruel things about her when she broke up with him."
Nick's eyes narrowed and Olivia could see the anger flare in them. "What did he say to her?" Even his voice was laced with fury--the mere idea someone would hurt you sent him off the edge.
"I can't tell you," Olivia answered. "But if you really want to know, then I think you should talk to her. She trusts you, so she may open up to you."
Nick nodded, anger still boiling beneath the surface. "You're right--I didn't mean to intrude or anything."
Olivia shook her head. "It's alright. I know you care about her...I guess I'm just a little surprised by your anger."
He winced slightly, feeling embarrassed for his display of emotion. "I don't like the idea of some guy making her feel like shit."
"Neither do I," she said honestly. "I am curious though...what made you ask about her?"
"Wha-what do you mean?"
Olivia smiled slowly. "I mean, why do you want to know badly enough to ask me?"
Nick had a feeling Olivia could see right through him--they'd been partners for a few years after all. He wasn't sure how to answer--or if he wanted to be entirely truthful. In the end, he opted for vague honesty. "I care about her."
Olivia watched his expression in silence for a long moment before responding. "So do I."
Nick could see the meaning behind her words as clearly as if she'd spoken them aloud--don't hurt my friend. He didn't say it, but he hoped Olivia knew he would never hurt you...it would break his heart.
**********
"Hey (Y/N/N). You busy?"
You looked up to see Nick standing in your office doorway, leaning against the frame. You swallowed thickly as you pushed down the improper thoughts blazing through your mind at the sight.
"Uh--no. What's up?"
He stepped into the room, edging closer to your desk. "I was wondering if you wanted to have dinner tonight. My treat."
You raised your eyebrows at him, unsure of the cause of his request. "Is there some sort of celebration I'm unaware of?"
He chuckled lightly. "Other than your new-found freedom, no. I just...well, I wanted to spend a little time with you. Ya know, if you want."
You bit your bottom lip as you contemplated his offer. "Well, I don't have any other plans, so why not?"
He grinned. "Excellent. Do you want time to go home first or just leave from here?"
You looked down at your outfit, suddenly feeling very frumpy and unattractive. You knew he wasn't asking you out on a date--just a friend inviting you to dinner to cheer you up. Even still, you really didn't want to go out looking like this. "Do you mind if I go home and change first?"
"Not at all. I can pick you up from your place, if you'd like?"
"Oh, uh-yeah. Sure."
He smiled again. "Perfect. 6:30?"
You nodded. "Sounds good."
You watched him walk out of your office, mind racing as you tried to figure out his motivations and what the hell you were gonna wear.
**********
By the time 6pm rolled around, you'd managed to change your clothes somewhere in the realm of 50 times, and you still weren't entirely satisfied. Even your favorite outfit didn't feel right--you could hear your ex's voice in the back of your mind telling you everything you tried on looked bad.
You dug further into your closet, looking for something simple--cover the things you wanna hide and accentuate the things you wanna show off. Your eyes fell on a beautiful black dress you'd actually never worn. You'd purchased it on a whim because you'd loved it in the store and Olivia had insisted it was too perfect to pass up on.
You pulled the dress off the hanger and put it on, pleased it still fit properly. When you turned to look in the mirror, you almost didn't recognize yourself--you actually felt pretty. The bodice of the dress was tight, but the lower half was flowy. The material was a soft, stretch satin, with a low neckline and flutter sleeves. The dress hit right above your knees and it practically screamed for a pair of heels.
You found your favorite black pumps, slipping them on and smiling at your reflection. You put on some jewelry to spice up the look, sprayed your favorite perfume, and double checked your hair and makeup one last time. You didn't wear much makeup on the daily, so you didn't go too wild with your makeup for the evening. You'd added some eyeliner and lipstick, but otherwise you looked natural. You'd actually been having a good hair day already, so you were pleased to see it was still behaving properly.
You'd just put the last finishing touches on the outfit when you heard the buzzer ring. You quickly went to answer it, and upon hearing Nick's voice, told him you'd be right down.
You took one last look in the mirror, took a deep breath, and headed downstairs feeling both excited and trepidatious. You reminded yourself once again this was just two friends having dinner--purely platonic...but you'd be lying to yourself if you said you didn't want it to be an actual date.
Nick was waiting just outside the front entrance to your apartment building, and he turned around when he heard the door open. Nothing could have prepared you for the look on his face when he saw you.
"Santa mierda," he breathed. "You look incredible." [Holy shit.]
You blushed and looked away. "Thank you," you mumbled softly.
He stepped towards you and gently touched your chin, lifting your face to meet his gaze. "You're very welcome."
He dropped his hand, but his eyes stayed fixed on your face for a long moment. "Do you like Italian?" he asked.
"Of course," you answered, silently pleased your voice sounded normal.
"Excellent." He gestured towards his car and you followed behind him. He opened the passenger door and helped you in before getting in the driver's seat.
The drive wasn't very long, and your nerves kept you quiet for most of the ride. You listened to him chatter on about nothing, simply enjoying the sound of his voice.
When you arrived at the restaurant, he once again opened your door and helped you out, but this time his hand didn't leave yours. He placed your hand through the loop he'd made with his arm and guided you to the entrance.
Once you were seated, your nerves began to ratchet up even higher. Unfortunately for you, Nick was both an extremely good detective and an annoyingly perceptive person. As such, he noticed your discomfort immediately.
"You okay?"
"Yeah," you lied.
"It's just me, (Y/N/N)," he said quietly.
You exhaled slowly--realizing he was right. It was Nick for God's sake. He was your colleague, your friend. There was no reason to be nervous. "You're right."
He smiled, reaching across the table to squeeze your hand. He pulled it back to his side of the table as the server arrived for your drink order.
You were grateful for the glass of wine he delivered moments later, lifting it to your lips almost immediately. You knew the liquid would calm your nerves--maybe then you wouldn't embarrass yourself.
"I'm glad you agreed to have dinner with me," Nick said softly as he sipped his own glass of wine.
"I was a little surprised, in all honesty."
"That I asked or that you agreed?" he teased lightly.
You smiled. "Definitely the former."
"I hate seeing you upset," he admitted. "I thought I might be able to cheer you up a little."
"Thanks, Nick. You're a good friend."
His face fell slightly, but he quickly hid it behind a soft smile. "May I ask you something?"
"Sure."
Whatever he was going to ask was cut off by the arrival of the server to take your food order.
As soon as the server left the table, Nick leaned forward and lowered his voice. "What did he say to you that hurt you so much?"
"What?"
"Your ex."
Your expression shifted and you looked down at the table. "It doesn't matter."
"It does to me."
"Why?"
"Because whatever he said hurt you--and I'm willing to bet my career that he was wrong."
Your eyes snapped back up to meet his. His expression was deadly serious, yet it somehow put you at ease in a way only Nick could. "He said some unpleasant things about my physical appearance that I could have lived without hearing."
Surprise lit up his handsome face. "Unpleasant things about your appearance? I'll bet my life he was wrong."
Now it was your turn to be surprised. "I wouldn't make that bet, Nick."
"I'm confident. Tell me what he said and I'll judge for myself."
You took a deep breath, exhaling slowly before giving him a quick overview. "Essentially he said I'm unattractive and fat--I recall the word 'gross' being used as well."
Nick's temper flared instantly, the urge to punch that son of a bitch in the face nearly overwhelming. "He said what?"
Even if you didn't know Nick, you would have been able to see the rage simmering in his eyes, hear it in his tone. "It's not a big deal."
"If he was here, I'd launch him through a window. Bastard."
"I'm okay," you reassured him quietly.
Your soft voice grounded him, as it so often did, and he felt his anger dissipating. He was still angry, but the urge to hunt that asshole down had begun to fade.
"He was wrong, you know."
"Huh?"
"He was wrong. Not only are you one of the most beautiful women I have ever laid eyes on, but your body is perfectly proportioned--deliciously soft and curvy. You're about as far from gross as a human being can be."
He spoke with such conviction, such assuredness, that you almost believed him--almost.
"While I appreciate the compliment, Nick, you've never seen me naked...your opinion would change, trust me."
Nick's eyes flared with a new kind of intensity. "I highly doubt that."
"His did," you said quietly.
"He clearly didn't know what he had."
Your eyes met his, shoulders tense, discomfort obvious in every movement you made.
"Listen to me, (Y/N). I'll say it as many times as it takes for you to believe me--I think you're gorgeous. Stunning. Elegante. Sin fin perfecta." [Elegant. Endlessly perfect.] He reached for your hand and you let him take it in his. "You are a prize, (Y/N). Any man worth a damn would be honored to call you his."
You didn't know what to say. His words surprised you and warmed your soul at the same time. You could also feel the familiar tightening in your gut, accompanied by an entire swarm of butterflies dancing in your stomach.
"Forget every terrible thing he ever said to you, hermosa. Let me fill your mind with praise. Let me remind you of your beauty, inside and out, of your brilliance, of your kindness, your empathy...of all the little things that make you the incredible woman you are."
"Nick..." you whispered, his name the only coherent thing you were able to utter.
The moment was shattered by the arrival of your food. You'd been hungry when you sat down at the table, but your body was now flooded with a very different kind of hunger--a hunger you now believed Nick shared.
"Thank you, Nick," you said softly. "I know it's not nearly enough, but thank you."
"You don't have to thank me. I meant every word."
You gave him a small smile. "Still..."
He returned the expression.
The two of you ate in silence for several minutes, minds clearly elsewhere. After a while, Nick noticed you'd done more moving the food around the plate than actually eating and he called you out on it.
"Eat your food, querida. You'll need your strength."
Your head snapped up, eyes meeting his gaze. "For what?"
He leaned forward. "If you'll let me, I'm going to spend several hours showing you exactly how sexy I think you are."
You gulped. "And how do you plan on doing that?"
He grinned wolfishly. "By worshipping that amazing body of yours...over and over again, until you're screaming my name."
You suddenly found it very difficult to breathe, let alone eat. Nick, on the other hand, went right back to eating his food as if he hadn't just threatened you with an incredibly good time.
You had to force yourself to focus on your food, desperately trying to ignore the throbbing between your legs.
As soon as the meal was over, Nick asked for the check and paid, revealing just how desperate he was to get back to your place.
Once again, he helped you into the car, only this time his hand lingered on the small of your back.
Anticipation flooded through you as Nick drove through the streets of the city. You'd wanted him for so long--never once thinking he'd reciprocate the desire. Despite his words earlier in the evening, you still felt a shred of self-doubt...worrying he might not find you as attractive once you were naked.
"Where's that pretty head at, querida?" he asked softly, noticing your anxiety.
"Can you promise me something?"
"Of course."
"If you don't want to go through with this...you know, when you see me without my clothes on...please just tell me. I don't want you to feel like you have to do something you don't wanna do."
He reached over and grabbed your hand, squeezing it tightly. "I don't have to promise that because I know what I want, (Y/N)...and that's you. You could be a alien underneath those clothes and I'd still want you."
You laughed lightly. "I promise I'm not an alien."
He grinned. "Then we're gonna be just fine, baby."
You closed your eyes, silently willing yourself to believe him. You trusted him with your life--something you'd never experienced with any of your past relationships. Every fiber of your being told you Nick would never hurt you on purpose--never. You just needed to trust him--let go of your pain and give in to your desires.
When you finally made it back to your apartment, Nick gave you a gentle reminder. "We don't have to do this if you don't want to, (Y/N)."
"I want to," you whispered.
He inhaled slowly and took a step towards you. "Say 'no' or 'stop' and I'll stop immediately, okay? No hard feelings--I won't push you."
"I don't want to say no, Nick."
He took another step towards you, effectively backing you against the wall. "If you wanna stop--"
"Nick, please just kiss me," you begged softly.
He groaned softly before leaning in to press his lips to yours. His kiss was like fire and ice--more addictive than any drug known to man. He kissed you like you were the air he needed to breathe--like he would rather suffocate to death than stop.
He pressed his warm body against yours, wedging his knee between your thighs to keep you from squeezing them together. His tongue tangled with yours, quickly asserting dominance as he deepened the kiss.
Your hands went to the buttons on his white button down, quickly undoing them in a desperate need to feel his skin. He helped you remove the shirt, followed by his undershirt, leaving his toned chest bare for you to see.
You bit your lip and stifled a soft groan as you appreciated his form.
"You can touch me, querida," he said softly. "I wanna feel your soft hands on my skin."
You did as he asked, hands gliding over his smooth, tan skin. He sighed softly and leaned into your touch, lips grazing your jaw affectionately.
Your hands traveled to his hips and you began to loosen his belt. He allowed you to unbutton his pants and he helped you remove them.
"I think you're a bit overdressed for the occasion, hermosa," he teased huskily.
You tensed slightly, a feeling of dread washing over you.
Of course, Nick felt it and instantly began to sooth your worries. "You can keep on as much as you want, querida, but I want to see you. I've wanted to touch you like this since the day I met you. But if you're more comfortable keeping your clothes on, that's alright."
You looked up at him, his dark eyes warm and honest. You took a deep breath and pushed him back slightly, giving yourself the room to pull your dress off over your head.
You dropped your dress to the ground, but your eyes didn't meet his gaze--you couldn't even bring yourself to look at his face, too afraid of what you might see there.
"Querida, por favor," Nick whispered. "Look at me."
You looked up at him slowly, a soft gasp leaving your lips as you took in his hungry expression.
"I wanna kiss every square inch of your beautiful body, hermosa. Will you let me?"
You nodded tentatively.
"I need to hear you say it, baby," he pleaded.
"I want you Nick, please."
He groaned and pressed his body against yours again. "Say that again, querida."
"I want you," you whispered.
"Fuck--" He slammed his lips against yours, sliding his tongue into your mouth almost immediately. You melted in his arms, reveling in the feeling of his body against yours.
He finally pulled away to catch his breath, but his hands didn't leave your body. Now that he'd touched you so intimately, he never wanted to stop.
"Come with me," he whispered, before guiding you to your bedroom. "Lay down on the bed for me, querida."
You did as he asked, noticing how his eyes never left your body.
He made sure you were looking at him before he began to lower his boxer briefs, slowly revealing his large cock. He was already painfully hard, a bead of precum lingering at the tip.
You licked your lips in anticipation, an action he noticed with pride.
"Like what you see, hermosa?"
"Very much so."
He smiled and climbed onto the bed, covering your soft body with his hard one. "May I take off your bra?"
You nodded.
"Baby..." he said in a clear warning tone.
You understood his meaning instantly, a flood of arousal going straight to your core at the order. "Yes, papi."
His eyes widened for a moment, surprised and pleased at your use of the title. "Such a good girl, aren't you?"
A soft moan left your lips at the praise and he smiled to himself, pleased he was able to suss out what you liked.
His hand snaked around your back, deftly unclasping your bra with surprising ease. The moment your breasts were bared to his gaze, his mouth descended on you, taking a pert nipple into his mouth.
You moaned softly, fingers intertwining into his dark locks. His lips and hands massaged your breasts, giving them equal attention. True to his word, he moved tantalizingly slowly down your body, kissing every inch of skin he could, while avoiding where you needed him most.
By the time he made his way back up to your face, you were begging him to touch your pussy--pleading for some relief.
"Nick, please--I need you."
"What did you call me?" he asked harshly.
Your eyes widened lustfully. "I'm sorry, papi!"
He smiled, ghosting his fingers across your still-clothed pussy. "That's my good girl."
You whimpered at the feather-light touches he placed to your mound, desperate for more. "Please, papi."
"Hmm? Qué deseas?" [What do you want?]
"Please touch me," you begged.
"I am touching you, querida."
"More, papi. Please!"
He smiled. "Normally I'd take my time teasing you--making you beg for what you want...but if I'm being honest, I'm as desperate to touch you as you are to feel it, so I'll be nice to you this time."
He tugged your panties off quickly before spreading your thighs as wide as he could, revealing your dripping wet folds.
"All this for me, baby?" he growled.
"Only you, papi," you responded.
"Yeah? No one else makes you this wet?"
You shook your head vehemently. "No one else."
"Now I have one rule, hermosa. I wanna hear you--every little sound coming out of that pretty mouth. Be as loud as you want. Entiendes?" [Understand?]
"Si, papi," you whimpered.
He smirked as he lowered himself down onto the bed between your legs. His strong hands gripped your hips and he tugged you as close to his face as he could before diving into your pussy with a deep groan of pleasure.
You gasped at the sensation, the sound quickly becoming moans of enjoyment. Nick was quite skilled with his mouth--his tongue alone made you feel things you'd never before experienced.
Your fingers tangled into his hair, tugging at the roots as you desperately sought your release.
Nick held you in place as he continued his assault on your pussy, ensuring he had complete control over your pleasure.
"Feels so good," you gasped. "Gonna cum, papi."
He groaned against your clit, the vibrations sending a shockwave of pleasure through your body. He could feel how close you were by the way your thighs tried to close and your grip on his hair tightened.
Your moans became more desperate--needy, and he slid two fingers into your pussy, gently pressing into your g-spot rapidly.
You cried out, legs shaking slightly, seconds before your orgasm ripped through you like a tidal wave. His name left your lips in a gasped scream as he worked you through your high, only stopping when you began to squirm away.
You were completely breathless when he lifted his head, mouth and chin soaked in your juices. He licked his lips and wiped his mouth on his hand, licking it clean as he maintained eye contact with you. "You taste so good baby...I can't get enough."
You reached for him and he obliged, leaning forward to kiss you softly. You tasted yourself on his lips and tongue, a soft sound of pleasure escaping into his mouth.
"Querida," he whispered against your lips. "I need to be inside you."
"Please," you whimpered.
"Do you have protection?"
"I'm on the pill..."
"I'm clean," he assured you.
"Me too."
He lined his cock up with your entrance and looked back up at your face. "Are you sure, hermosa?"
"Si papi. I want you to fuck me."
He groaned softly before thrusting into you, sheathing himself fully inside of you in one swift movement.
You cried out, the stretch both overwhelming and extremely pleasurable all at once. You clutched his neck and he breathed deeply, trying to calm his racing heart.
"You can move," you whispered.
"Not yet, querida. I need a moment."
"Are you okay?" you asked in concern.
"Your pussy feels so damn incredible, baby...I'm just trying to control myself so I don't hurt you."
You bit your lip and lifted his face up to look at you. "I like a little bit of pain, papi." You clenched your pussy tightly for emphasis.
"Mierda," he ground out. "You sure?"
"Fuck me senseless, Nick. Por favor."
As much as he loved you calling him 'papi', hearing you say his name like that made him feral. He pulled out and thrust back in harshly, starting a fast, hard pace.
"Baby, say my name again," he begged.
"Nick," you moaned lowly.
"Fuck." He was fucking you like it was the last thing he was ever going to do and you'd never experienced anything like it.
You felt the coil tightening in your abdomen, and for the first time in your life, you knew you were going to cum during penetration. Your moans were loud enough to wake the neighbors, your nails dug into his muscular back, and your pussy had his cock in a vice grip.
"You gonna cum for me, (Y/N)?"
You nodded rapidly, unable to voice a response. The only thing coming out of your mouth was a string of incoherent moans and pleas.
"I wanna feel you cum, baby. Cubre mi polla." [Coat my cock.]
"Nick!" you whined.
"What do you need, querida? Tell me."
"More," you whimpered.
He slipped his hand between your bodies and began to gently massage your clit. "This what you need, baby?"
"Nick!" you screamed. "Don't stop!"
"That's it, baby. That's it. I've got you. Cum for me, querida. Ven por mí." [Come for me.]
You cried out in ecstasy as the waves of pleasure overwhelmed your senses. You clung to him desperately, as if he was a life raft while you were adrift in the ocean.
He began to chase his own high as you came down, your awareness coming back to you. His thrusts were fast and rough, his breathing ragged.
"I want you to cum for me, papi. Fill me up," you begged.
"Dios mio! You feel so good, baby. Wanna cum for you."
You clenched your pussy as tightly as you could, desperate for him to enjoy this as much as you did.
"(Y/N)!" he cried out as he came, his hot seed filling you up.
His thrusts slowed and faltered before he finally collapsed on top of you, breathless and satiated.
You held him close, running your fingers through his hair as he caught his breath. You were a little worried he would regret this now that it was over, but your fears were assuaged the moment he lifted his head to look at you.
His beautiful brown eyes were warm and loving as he gazed at you, happiness and contentment clear in his expression. "That was incredible," he murmured softly.
You blushed slightly. "You were incredible."
"As were you, querida."
He pressed his lips to yours as he pulled himself up. He rolled onto his side and pulled you with him, so your head rested against his chest.
"I'm thinking we take a power nap, then we go for round two," Nick said softly.
"Round two?!"
He grinned. "I did promise you I was gonna worship this sexy body of yours for hours."
"I didn't think you were serious, Nick," you said with a chuckle.
"Oh, baby, I'm always serious about worshipping you. I think you'll learn that very quickly."
You smiled and kissed his chest softly. You debated whether you wanted to voice the question that popped into your head, but once again, Nick beat you to it.
"You know this isn't a one time thing, right?" Nick asked gently. "I mean, unless you want it to be."
You looked up at him, expression soft and affectionate. "I was actually just going to ask you that."
He grinned. "So...you saying you might wanna see me again?"
"I see you every day, Nick," you teased.
"I mean like this, hermosa. Naked in your bed, making you scream my name, giving you as much pleasure as your pretty little body will take."
Your breath hitched in your chest, giving away just how badly you wanted that. "That too."
He chuckled and kissed the top of your head. "If I'm lucky, you'll let me take you out more too. Dinner, dancing, walks in the park, musicals...whatever you want. Wherever you go, I want to be there too."
Your eyes widened in surprise and tears filled them. You'd never had someone speak to you the way Nick did, let alone want to be with you in the way he just described.
"Querida," he whispered as he wiped your eyes. "Don't cry."
"Tears of joy," you assured him. "I promise."
His expression warmed, filling with the love and admiration he clearly felt for you. "So you'll be mine then? Exclusively?"
Your lips parted and you smiled. "I would love that."
He smiled back. "Thank god...because whether you knew it or not, I've been yours exclusively for the past year."
"What?"
He blushed slightly. "I...well I've wanted to be with you since my marriage fell apart, but I didn't want you to think you were some kind of rebound, so I kept myself professional. It's gotten harder and harder to do and then seeing you dating someone who treated you so terribly knowing full-well I would die for you made it nearly impossible."
"I didn't know," you whispered.
"I went to great lengths to make sure of that," Nick said softly. "But now that I have you? Now that I know what it's like to touch you, hold you, kiss you, make love to you? Baby, I can't walk away. You're stuck with me."
You pulled yourself up into a sitting position, straddling his strong body. You leaned down to kiss him softly, pouring all of your emotion into the kiss. "There's no one I'd rather be stuck with, Nick Amaro," you whispered against his lips.
He grinned and wrapped his arms around you, kissing you with as much passion as he could muster. He was determined to spend every minute of the rest of his life making sure you knew how incredible you were, how much he appreciated you, and how madly in love with you he would always be.

unpopular opinion but i really enjoy "field of fire," the ezri dax "to catch a serial killer" episode. for all the scenery chewing and deep space nine's continued vulcan smear campaign, i'm not going to pretend it's objectively the best of the ezri a-plot episodes, but it's my favorite for what it reveals about her.
jadzia was emotional, headstrong, and sometimes impulsive (as was curzon), but ezri is reckless.
of course she is! she's young! she's unqualified for everything that has happened to her, and honestly, so are all her peers. she ran away from a fucked-up home to starfleet at a time when, as we saw with nog, they're field-promoting cadets at top speed to fill the ranks as starfleet suffers massive war casualties. she's more or less the same generation as the red squad cadets on the valiant who decided to fight the dominion war by themselves behind enemy lines.
and she wouldn't be ezri dax otherwise. the reveal in "equilibrium" is a secret known only the symbiosis commission and the starfleet offiers who were physically in the room. to the medical staff on the destiny and ezri tigan herself, the odds of rejection from an improper trill joining are overwhelmingly likely and fatal. but ezri still volunteers to join with dax! she's probably going to die in this uniform anyway, right?
jadzia was a focused, rule-following, straight-a student before she met the party worm, and it took dax a season or two to loosen her up, but ezri was probably already unhinged.
so of course she's the one who decides to take her inner murderer off the leash at the slightest provocation. sisko asks her to help odo out, and ezri somehow interprets this as feeling like she's solely responsible for finding the killer when she only took one class at the academy in forensic psychology and didn't even like it. odo and o'brien are continuing their own investigation off-screen the whole time! meanwhile, she probably had to look up the trill emergence ritual in a book. she has not read the fine print on ANY of this.
and she sticks with this crazy plan, even when it becomes clear that she's right on the edge of becoming a danger to society. but ezri's whole starfleet career, maybe her whole young life of ignoring and plotting her escape from her emotionally abusive family, certainly her whole joined experience, has been lived right on the edge.
all the scenes she has with joran in and around quark's bar to me are her technique for staying grounded in reality. they often happen after joran pushes her too far, so she uses being public as a distraction from that one-on-one intensity—even though it means she looks insane and everyone's staring at her. even joran is like ".... shouldn't you have told sisko about me?" she is full in dax stubbornness on this deeply dubious plan.
and it works!! and in the final account, i think she liked it a little: the power of playing a killer, the power of being stronger than joran, and the soft ending she has with him during reintegration.
her symbiont, her whole life on the station, her friends, her romantic interests, they were all jadzia's first, but jadzia was afraid of joran and would never have played this game. in this one way, ezri has a closer relationship to her unearned symbiont than jadzia did.
ezri's beta canon trajectory of switching to a command track is okay, but it makes me sad to think she'd ditch her chosen career entirely. i could see her getting into criminal psychology. her brother's a murderer (she hasn't unpacked that AT ALL), one of her past hosts was a murderer... with that backstory, she'd do numbers in a federation law & order procedural series. i'd watch it.
but honestly, in the federation spirit of rehabilitation, she might be uniquely qualified to treat violent criminals as well, rather than hunting them down. she could reach in and heal that part of herself and then use that experience to reach others.
#ezri dax#trillblogging#deep space nine#this is not well thought out meta here this is just me watching this episode and going HEAR ME OUT#star trek thoughts#let's put a readmore on that

When you look through All For One’s actions, you just have to wonder… what the hell?
Lets Shigaraki out of the house at all, when he could have died as early as the USJ.
Somehow lost Yoichi’s hand while being hunted down by All Might (what, did he keep it on his person??)
The ranged attacks at Kamino to weaken All Might were smart but loops back around to dumb when he decides to outpunch All Might.
Didn’t inform Nagant about anything concerning Midoriya.
Managed to Rewind himself out of existence, unlike Midoriya. Yea, I know they work different for some reason, Midoriya still would have found a way not to Rewind himself.
This is barely scratching the surface of his ineptitude. Let's have some more
Despite knowing that he's rapidly Benjamin Buttoning away to nothing, spends precious time grandstanding at the Heroes.
Considers stealing Dark Shadow, but decides against it solely because Mineta was there.
Despite knowing that he'd rapidly Benjamin Buttoning away to nothing and that he's wasted precious time grandstanding at the Heroes, physically cannot resist trying to bully All Might.
Keeps a Quirk on hand to change his blood type so he can avoid forensic evidence... despite the fact that as the leader of a criminal organization he himself is never present at crime scenes. And also that he grew up in the apocalypse, so there isn't any forensic evidence of his existence. Or birth records. Or anything.
Blames Kudo for Yoichi's death despite the fact that all Kudo did was tell All For One that All For One murdered Yoichi, a fact that All For One already knew.
Can't be bothered to train any of his Quirks, or to collect Quirks that might require training, or to understand Quirks at all. Shigaraki is the one who does the Quirk analyzing.
Following up from that point, All For One had a copy of Overhaul and fucking broke it! Instead of keeping around a spare copy which he might use to, I don't know, fix his larynx, he took the one copy he had and shattered it solely for his plan to groom a child he let get shot and stabbed.
Never considered attacking UA while Midoriya was preoccupied elsewhere during the Villain Hunt Arc. Like, at all.
Similarly, reveals at Kamino that he knows Midoriya has One For All, but never made any attempts to use Midoriya's loved ones against him to force him to give it up. It seems to have genuinely never occurred to him.
Tried to kill Midoriya with a bomb despite needing him alive for One For All.
Has gotten his mental self obliterated by Shigaraki like three times and yet still claims to be the total master of the shared body despite the fact that Shigaraki is still present enough to be screaming aloud.
Despite successfully conquering Japan in the past, I guess he just??? Forgot??? to deal with the MLA??? Because they're still around. As are the Creature Rejection Clan.
Never objected to the Noumu having exposed brains
Genuinely thinks the world works exactly like the Captain Hero comics and is confused and surprised on multiple occasions when that's not how people behave.
Gets outplayed by children because they know his top priority is being a petty bitch instead of any of his schemes
And that's just off the top of my head!

Forensics: Blood Spatter Analysis
This is a bit of a deviation from my normal posts, but I used to be the TA for the forensic chemistry lab, and the spatter analysis lab was always my favorite. So, I wanted to share some of my knowledge on this topic. If you want more information on what blood is composed of, I talk about it a bit here.
Types of Spatter: Blood spatter can be divided into three main types: passive, transfer, and impact. Passive stains come from blood dripping onto the ground due to gravity. These are usually larger and circular. Transfer stains are from objects coming into contact with the blood, usually resulting in a smear or pattern. Impact spatters are created by some type of force, and the shape of the spatter can be used to determine the velocity of this force.
Impact Spatter: This is probably what most people think of when they hear "blood splatters." These spatters are due to velocity, whether that is from a spurting artery or splash from a force. This can be blunt force, gunshots, knife wounds, etc.
One concept I want to highlight is called "back spatter" and "forward spatter." Back spatter is blood that flies back towards the attacker, while forward spatter goes outwards towards the environment. Think of a gunshot producing spatter from the entrance would (back spatter) and from the exit wound (forward spatter).
Gunshot spatter varies wildly because of the caliber of bullet, distance from the gun to the tissue, and the area of the body struck. Cast-off is another type of spatter that comes from flicking something covered in blood. This can give us clues to if the attacker used multiple blows to inflict damage, as each time they rear back with an object, another set of cast-off will be created. Expirated spatter is from hemoptysis (coughing up blood). This could be do to injury or disease, and usually mists the area in more fine particles of blood.
Reading a Drop of Blood: With a drop of blood, there will be a central body and outgoing projections (called spines), which end in satellites (the little dots). You can see this easily if you look up a blood stain. The spines and satellites may not connect to the central body. The angle of impact of the blood will change the shapes and connection of the parts. Blood that falls straight down will create a more circular main body with connected satellites. As the angle to the ground decreases, the body will become longer and the satellites may not be connected anymore.
Finding the Origin: By figuring out the angle at which the blood spatters were created, the origin (where the victim was) can be found by finding the convergence of the trajectories. This can be done digitally or with string. You use basic math and physics (like how triangles work) to do this. Velocity can be determined by more complex methods that analyze known patterns of blood droplets.
Conclusion: I hope you guys liked this one. As always, you should do your own research, as what I presented here are just the basics I had to know to help with a lab. I'm not a forensic chemistry major, but I hope nothing here is too incorrect.
Notes: This is just a fun story of how I had to set up the lab for this. My university had a farm which I did research at, so my professor had me go get the blood for the lab. I had to drain two gallons of blood from the school's cows (which were super sweet animals), and I definitely looked like an absolute weirdo to the other students who were having class at the farm. I had a good time TAing for the forensics professor overall, even if he definitely was a strange guy.

T4t B&B anon:
I hadn't really thought of trans!Brennan before, but seeing all the trans!Booth stuff made me wonder! I did have thoughts about m!Booth and f!Brennan and how their different approaches to life and gender would impact their relationships. I think Brennan would perform her feminity whilst also studying and criticising from a more objective anthropology standpoint, but Booth seems more like he has to blindly follow, and perform in the best possible way.
Yes I wish the show gave Tempe more space to do this. They only very surface level let her talk about gender with 'alpha-male' this and that, and I know expecting really thoughtful stuff from a mainstream Fox show in 2006 is asking too much, but.....
This is all a small part of my rant about how they didn't let an Actual Cultural Anthropologist write Tempe. idk how much power Kathy had, but even Kathy herself isn't a cultural anthropologist. She's a forensic/physical anthropologist. There's a huge difference. The show lumps all anthropologists together and purports to make Tempe an expert in all of the above and it.... well it only works if the writers actually know things about contemporary cultural anthropology. They have her saying things about gender and other cultures that are out of date for the 1950s! Girl what the hell did they teach you at Northwestern?
If Tempe was actually up-to-date on cultural anthropology and gender, she would have way more interesting and deconstructive things to say about gender and gender roles. But none of that is what Fox viewers would be okay with, lol. They like the misogyny and Exotic Other that Tempe talks about.
EDIT - I had a brainwave. The only rational explanation is Tempe hasn't taken a cultural anthropology class since sophomore year of undergrad and has a really shitty memory for it. A misremembered 200 level class from ten years ago explains a lot.

Ancient Roman Elite Necropolis Discovered in Italy
A two-year dig to install a solar power plant near Rome has unearthed an ancient Roman necropolis containing 67 skeletons buried in 57 ornate tombs.
Archaeologists were baffled by the find — thought to date between the second and fourth centuries — not least because the skeletons were discovered wearing golden jewelry and expensive leather footwear, inside tombs designed to resemble their homes.
The discovery, on a 52-acre patch of land close to the ancient city of Tarquinia, north of Rome, was a surprise to authorities, despite the area being renowned for such findings.

Silver rings with amber and engraved initials, precious stones, terracotta pottery, coins, shiny glasses, amulets and even items of clothing were found alongside the golden necklaces and earrings.
“We found several skeletons still wearing their expensive stockings and shoes,” Emanuele Giannini, lead excavation archaeologist at the site said. “All these riches, and the fact that the bones show no sign of stress or physical labor, (leads us to believe) these weren’t local farmers, but upper-crust members of Roman families coming from cities.”
Giannini said techniques of “pre-emptive archaeology” such as field surveys and trial trenches were used to identify potentially ancient constructions below ground.
“We did have a faint idea that some treasure could lie there, as historical sources mentioned the location of a postal station for travelers near the site,” explained Giannini. “Many Romans would stop (here) for the night to eat and rest, but the magnitude of the discovery is unmatched.”

The diversity of funerary objects laid near the remains, and the luxurious designs and linings inside the tombs, have led archaeologists to believe that the occupants wanted to recreate heavenly spaces similar to their earthly homes. The interior of many tombs originally featured elaborate cloth linings, or were surrounded and covered by tiles or terracotta pieces like little houses.
Giannini said another astounding aspect is that most of the discovered tombs were communal — built for at least two occupants who likely shared a family link. A few skeletons were found wrapped around each other.
“Building tombs for entire family nuclei is a typical ancient Roman trait,” he said, “but these are outstanding in their inner decor, which shows wealth and status.”
The shallow tombs were found just 20 inches below the surface — almost popping out of the grass — yet nobody had ever noticed anything peculiar.

The site’s unique state of preservation has been attributed to the fact that “huge limestone blocks that stick out of the ground (made) ploughing, seeding and modern farming impossible in the area,” said Giannini. “It has remained untouched (for) centuries.”
Findings from the dig, which started in 2022, are being preserved as they’re found and many are going on show at the castle of Santa Severa in the coastal town of Santa Marinella. The skeletons however, are being analyzed to determine their origins and will not be put on display until forensic tests have been carried out.
Whatever their genesis, authorities are certain more hidden wonders will come to light as digs for the solar park move to another nearby site.
“We are excavating a huge rural area to redevelop the land and are balancing the need to avoid ruining such unique wonders with the goal of boosting clean energy production,” Margherita Eichberg, art heritage superintendent of the provinces of Viterbo and southern Etruria for Italy’s Culture Ministry said. The area where the necropolis has been discovered will not form part of the solar park and will be cordoned off for safety reasons, without public access.
“This is the fascination and beauty of Italy: Each time there’s a dig, incredible wonders from the past come out of the ground which need to be preserved.”
By Silvia Marchetti.

bh6 au bh6 au bh6 au!!! AHUAHSF but heya, hope you're doing well, and we dont have a specific name for this au yet, mayhaps we can find one but yesyes bh6 au!! (i am going insane /lh) me is attempting to write rn hehe <3
BH6 AU💪💪💪
It’s so cool, me and the asker have been working on it <333 instead of gifts, they specialize in certain tech and stuff 🗿
Basically Pedro is there. And it’s Antonio’s presentation at the college (he’s still 5, they’re all prodigies and presented at 5, except Mirabel who presented a little later cause she hadn’t decided her science concentration yet 😭😭). Anyway, Pedro sacrifices himself to save Señora Guzmán and boom died.
Alma hid the project he was gonna show the family that he was working on for a long time: Baymax. Basically Mirabel and the grandkids find him and he’s chill, helping them grieve and stuff. The pressure for this au is Alma taking Pedro’s saying “someone has to help” as the family needed to use their tech and intelligence around the city to help other people. And never expand on their tech. Always the same thing.
Anyway, here’s their sciences (all the Madrigals, including the husbands + Alma and Oedro are like. Literal prodigies, mostly in science, but other stuff 🤧):
Fields of Study:
pedro - robotics
alma - forensic engineering
-------
julieta - health sciences
agustin - language and literature
pepa - meteorology
felix - sociology and music
bruno - physics
-------
isabela - botany
dolores - acoustics
luisa - kinesiology
camilo - neuroscience
mirabel - psychology
antonio - zoology
—————
There’s so much more about this au but like. That’s the gist of it <333 if you guys have any ideas LET US KNOWWWWW ‼️‼️‼️ the adults actually later becomes hero’s and funnily enough they’re all hiding it from each other and Alma is entirely clueless 😭😭
Well, the grandkids become super cool heros and obviously Baymax is there (I didn’t draw him YET 💀) and here are their designs <333 COLOR COMING TO TUMBKR DASH NEAR YOU📸📸
Here’s their tech and stuff:
Isabela, maybe something similar to Honey Lemon, but she uses the chemicals of different plants that has different (non lethal) effects? She throws pollen pods like honey lemon does and whatever plants she makes all disappear after a certain amount of time or something, oh and her vines she uses to swing ofc, they're very durable. CARBON FIBER VINES ❗❗
Dolores, maybe she uses soundwaves and sounds in general, and uses something similar to a giant megaphone and speaks; does a lot of knockback.
Luisa, I feel like she would have attachable enhancements, kinda like gauntlets and boots that allow her to further utilize her strength and stamina etc etc
Camilo, maybe his tech tricks the mind, lots of illusions and stuff, and he definitely has a camouflage suit, so he's good for stealth and sneaking up on enemies. He might also go beyond from just people, might even have animals and objects too since its really illusion (mayhaps an upgrade later down the line in their endeavor) Ohhh, a upgrade would be really good and show how he (and the others) develop his tech further
Mirabel’s tech works with Baymax, so it's pretty similar to Hiro's, though I think she would be a jack of all trades as well. Also mentioned in what i wrote that she has a bag of tech goodies (inspired by her good ol bag in canon and also that one ask i saw about her magic bag)
Antonio, like I said before, uses robot animals. He builds them and sends then out, controlling them maybe via a headset similar to the microbots, and the animals have cameras so he can see what they see. I think maybe when he builds P.A.R.C.E (the giant robot jaguar; a.k.a Precision Automated Robotic Companion Entity) the other grandkids will let him go out to battle. Also lets him be at the final battle.
Still working on the adults 🤭🤭🤭
#my asks#my asks are open#encanto#encanto au#au#encanto mirabel#encanto antonio#encanto isabela#encanto dolores#encanto camilo#encanto Luisa#encanto alma#encanto Pedro#bh6#bh6 au#big hero 6#big hero six au

Z-lister joined the Meghan Markle-led Sisterhood tearing down perfect Princess Kate with nonsensical spray about the future Queen by u/EleFacCafele
Z-lister joined the Meghan Markle-led ‘Sisterhood’ tearing down perfect Princess Kate with nonsensical spray about the future Queen “Wow, she’s really been getting stuck into those Marlboro cigarettes” was not a thought that crossed my mind when I saw images of a solemn Princess of Wales at London’s Remembrance Day service recently.Instead, like any decent and mature person, I was mesmerised by her bravery.Again. The Princess didn’t need to stand poised and reflective as she watched the wreath-laying ceremony. Wouldn’t any other exhausted 40-something mother-of-three, understandably nervous about every future blood test, give obligation a hard pass? wreath-laying ceremony. ‘To Di For’ Podcast host Kinsey Schofield has blasted Narinder Kaur for “attacking” Princess Kate’s physical appearance. But the constantly-scrutinised Kate put duty first.Meanwhile a wannabe celebrity in the UK called Narinda Kaur thought this would be the perfect time to post on X: “Genuine question – why has Kate aged so much? Isn’t she only 42? Is she a smoker? It’s the only explanation.”Sure, there was plenty of back peddling to follow because condemnation was swift, so much so that Kaur, 51, says she contacted police over the “sexual, racist and violent” abuse she received. Notwithstanding, other female keyboard warriors unleashed, triggering a digital blizzard of icy, bitchy “gosh Kate’s aged”-style commentary.Kaur said a stupid thing by trolling the Princess’s visage and she knows it, however I don’t buy her excuse that the “stupid” thing was to ask about ageing. Ergo, lest Kaur and others be reminded that is not a capital crime to age and in fact look older. But let’s address the real issue here.Following the balcony appearance from the royal, Narinda Kaur posted on X: “Genuine question – why has Kate aged so much? Isn’t she only 42? Is she a smoker? It’s the only explanation.” Picture: ITVEvery time former chemo patient Kate steps out in public and pauses in the forensic glare - and how her heart and stomach must sink at this - you can feel the swell of inane analysis. How sick does she look today? Why is she wearing that catwalk-level mascara and smokey eyeshadow? Are those tears in her eyes?Is that all her own hair? Didn’t she look a little chunkier around the middle last time she wore a fitted, wool coat by her favourite designer Catherine Walker? So.What will it take for a certain type of woman, often the same ones circling the Z-list drain, to lay off and let her be?It is bewildering that some women find Kate’s dual humility and polish such a trigger that they spew out anything, smug in the knowledge that their algorithm will get a bump and she won’t respond. And there’s been nigh on 12 months of this. You’ll recall how last December, Meghan Markle did not step up to defend her sister-in-law over claims in an ‘Endgame’ book translation that she, along with Charles, questioned Archie’s skin colour. For all her “truth” bombing, Meghan has let that one fester. And fester. It remains one of the Duchess’s most egregious acts in my view. Then in March, Kim Kardashian, Blake Lively and others were falling over themselves to exploit the trending ‘Where Is Kate’ narrative for their own nefarious business objectives before issuing breathless apologies. The wife of the future monarch was absent from public life and no one knew why.see the whole article: https://ift.tt/nWP6oBF post link: https://ift.tt/LE1f2ck author: EleFacCafele submitted: November 17, 2024 at 08:58AM via SaintMeghanMarkle on Reddit disclaimer: all views + opinions expressed by the author of this post, as well as any comments and reblogs, are solely the author's own; they do not necessarily reflect the views of the administrator of this Tumblr blog. Some Fortune 500 companies have begun testing software that can spot a deepfake of a real person in a live video call, following a spate of scams involving fraudulent job seekers who take a signing bonus and run.
The detection technology comes courtesy of GetReal Labs, a new company founded by Hany Farid, a UC-Berkeley professor and renowned authority on deepfakes and image and video manipulation.
GetReal Labs has developed a suite of tools for spotting images, audio, and video that are generated or manipulated either with artificial intelligence or manual methods. The company’s software can analyze the face in a video call and spot clues that may indicate it has been artificially generated and swapped onto the body of a real person.
“These aren’t hypothetical attacks, we’ve been hearing about it more and more,” Farid says. “In some cases, it seems they're trying to get intellectual property, infiltrating the company. In other cases, it seems purely financial, they just take the signing bonus.”
The FBI issued a warning in 2022 about deepfake job hunters who assume a real person’s identity during video calls. UK-based design and engineering firm Arup lost $25 million to a deepfake scammer posing as the company’s CFO. Romance scammers have also adopted the technology, swindling unsuspecting victims out of their savings.
Impersonating a real person on a live video feed is just one example of the kind of reality-melting trickery now possible thanks to AI. Large language models can convincingly mimic a real person in online chat, while short videos can be generated by tools like OpenAI’s Sora. Impressive AI advances in recent years have made deepfakery more convincing and more accessible. Free software makes it easy to hone deepfakery skills, and easily accessible AI tools can turn text prompts into realistic-looking photographs and videos.
But impersonating a person in a live video is a relatively new frontier. Creating this type of a deepfake typically involves using a mix of machine learning and face-tracking algorithms to seamlessly stitch a fake face onto a real one, allowing an interloper to control what an illicit likeness appears to say and do on screen.
Farid gave WIRED a demo of GetReal Labs’ technology. When shown a photograph of a corporate boardroom, the software analyzes the metadata associated with the image for signs that it has been modified. Several major AI companies including OpenAI, Google, and Meta now add digital signatures to AI-generated images, providing a solid way to confirm their inauthenticity. However, not all tools provide such stamps, and open source image generators can be configured not to. Metadata can also be easily manipulated.
GetReal Labs also uses several AI models, trained to distinguish between real and fake images and video, to flag likely forgeries. Other tools, a mix of AI and traditional forensics, help a user scrutinize an image for visual and physical discrepancies, for example highlighting shadows that point in different directions despite having the same light source, or that do not appear to match the object that cast them.
Lines drawn on different objects shown in perspective will also reveal if they converge on a common vanishing point, as would be the case in a real image.
Other startups that promise to flag deepfakes rely heavily on AI, but Farid says manual forensic analysis will also be crucial to flagging media manipulation. “Anybody who tells you that the solution to this problem is to just train an AI model is either a fool or a liar,” he says.
The need for a reality check extends beyond Fortune 500 firms. Deepfakes and manipulated media are already a major problem in the world of politics, an area Farid hopes his company’s technology could do real good. The WIRED Elections Project is tracking deepfakes used to boost or trash political candidates in elections in India, Indonesia, South Africa, and elsewhere. In the United States, a fake Joe Biden robocall was deployed last January in an effort to dissuade people from turning out to vote in the New Hampshire Presidential primary. Election-related “cheapfake” videos, edited in misleading ways, have gone viral of late, while a Russian disinformation unit has promoted an AI-manipulated clip disparaging Joe Biden.
Vincent Conitzer, a computer scientist at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh and coauthor of the book Moral AI, expects AI fakery to become more pervasive and more pernicious. That means, he says, there will be growing demand for tools designed to counter them.
“It is an arms race,” Conitzer says. “Even if you have something that right now is very effective at catching deepfakes, there's no guarantee that it will be effective at catching the next generation. A successful detector might even be used to train the next generation of deepfakes to evade that detector.”
GetReal Labs agrees it will be a constant battle to keep up with deepfakery. Ted Schlein, a cofounder of GetReal Labs and a veteran of the computer security industry, says it may not be long before everyone is confronted with some form of deepfake deception, as cybercrooks become more conversant with the technology and dream up ingenious new scams. He adds that manipulated media is a top topic of concern for many chief security officers. “Disinformation is the new malware,” Schlein says.
With significant potential to poison political discourse, Farid notes that media manipulation can be considered a more challenging problem. “I can reset my computer or buy a new one,” he says. “But the poisoning of the human mind is an existential threat to our democracy.”

Not that I have a horse in this race, I’ve never been a wilbur enjoyer and I don’t listen to Lovejoy, but don’t tell me the same people who could do forensic analysis on Manatreed’s chin and read documents about Dream’s creepy ass Snapchat dms are gonna cover their eyes and plug their ears and go “don’t speculate” when there’s years of publicly available evidence that Wilbur Soot is a biter. Come on…
There’s 4 women all saying the same thing and describing the same guy, some of them naming Wilbur outright, no one says you have to immediately burn your Lovejoy CDs to support the victim, but the evidence is pretty undeniable and the least you could do is just be quiet and check back in to see what plays out in the next couple days. Getting mad at people for putting together publicly available evidence of physical abuse, when you obviously wouldn’t object to it being done to other harmful public figures in the content creation world, is mega cringe. If it doesn’t end up being him somehow, then y’all can go back to life as normal and no harm will have been done to him.
If this is true, and from the clips of Niki and Shelby talking about it, I’d be fucking shocked if it isn’t, Wilbur AT THE VERY LEAST needs serious help. Biting people repeatedly to the point that they’re bruising and having to cover up their arms is not fucking normal. I just don’t know what else to say about it
#the dream situation#the manatreed situation#<- adding those for tag blocking since I mentioned them#the Wilbur situation#<- if you need to block the tag go ahead idk how much I’ll actually be talking about it here but I’m just disappointed at what I’m seeing in#some other places about it and it must be said#you can’t ignore it just because it’s a guy you really liked this time#you don’t have to talk about it you don’t have to follow the situation closely you don’t have to delete your fan accounts but you shouldn’t#shame others for talking about it#mango speaks sometimes

The smell of someone’s hand can reveal if they are a man or a woman, a study has found.
Key components in body odour are increasingly being used by scientists to unpick a person’s identity, with age and ethnicity already able to be determined by smell alone.
Now, research from Florida International University found that machine analysis was able to tell with 97 per cent accuracy the gender of a person from a swab of their hand sweat.
It opens the door for law enforcement to be able to use scent recognition to find criminals at some point in the future. However, the scientists say the work is still in its early stages and more analysis is needed to rectify the findings before the technique is used by police forces.
The hope is that a hand mark, which does not have any DNA or fingerprints, could still be used to help identify a perpetrator.
15 key chemicals
“We identified 15 key chemicals, and seven were the most important in differentiating females from males,” study author Dr Kenneth Furton told The Telegraph.
“To date we still cannot say what men and women in general smell like but we can say that they smell different chemically and we are now closer to discovering which chemicals are responsible for that difference.”
Dogs have long been used in criminal investigations to reliably identify and track people based on their odour, but replicating the hyper-sensitive nature of the canine nose with a machine in a lab has proved difficult.
Scientists used a technique called mass spectrometry to analyse the scent compounds present on the palms of 60 people – half male and half female.
Participants were asked to squeeze a piece of sanitised material for ten seconds and their skin secretions were then taken from the absorbent pad and put into a machine.
Odour ‘barcodes’
The scientists found odour “barcodes” which each person possesses that is unique to them and found they were able to pull apart male and female individuals based on the olfactory signature.
“Criminal activities involving robberies, assaults (sexual, simple, or aggravated), and rape are often executed with the use of the perpetrator’s hands,” the scientists write in their study.
“As a result, hands are a focal point of investigations as contributors of trace amounts of evidence that can be deposited on everyday objects through touch interactions.
“There is an exchange of both biological and inorganic material between the perpetrator and the crime scene during these interactions.”
Trace evidence
They add that the interaction and contact between a criminal and victim, or the crime scene, will leave behind trace evidence, but sometimes in quantities too small to help solve the crime.
“Fingerprints and DNA are the biometrics most commonly utilised to identify a suspect or victim of a crime,” the team continues.
“However, these forms of evidence can be found in quantities that are too small to be used, leaving little to no forensic evidence that can be used for prosecution.
“Even in these instances where no physical fingerprint or DNA evidence is found, human scent evidence may still be recovered and used as an individualising feature in an investigation.
“Though previous works have revealed this using an individual’s human scent from either breath or armpit, this study expands on this capability using hand odour which may be of great forensic value.”
According to the study, published in PLOS ONE, the analysis successfully predicted a person’s sex with a 96.67 per cent accuracy rate.
Sexual arousal
Studies are increasingly learning more about the role of human scent and how it may be detected not only by machines but by people too.
One study recently found the chemical makeup of a person’s exhaled breath changes when in a state of sexual arousal and it could be picked up by others around them.
Researchers from the Max Planck Institute of Chemistry found a noticeable spike in three chemicals called indole, cresole and phenol during arousal. There was also a significant drop in the level of CO2 and another molecule called isoprene.
Prof Jonathan Williams, the lead researcher, also found last year that humans have an invisible aura around our bodies which could be cleaning the air we breathe.
A study found that an invisible haze of air-cleansing molecules is produced on human bodies when ozone in the air reacts with oil made by our skin.

I don't know if you're comfortable talking about this anymore, but i was thinking about you today and i remembered why you went to jail for and everything that happened to you there and i got so fucking angry. i can't fathom how someone can put a 19 year old mentally ill girl in solitary confinement for months because she killed a cat. like that just seems absolutely insane to me. i'm not trying to justify what you did because it was very obviously wrong but there's something deeply evil with the justice/police/prison system and the way it treats certain people while also completely ignoring their age and background. i'm sorry you had to go through that.
Mm hm...kinda weirds me out that you were thinking about me and I dont know who you are, anon. Clearly a long term follower. A mutual or stalker... but eh whatever. Wow, thank you...its so odd to me when other people have feelings FOR me. But thank you for thinking of me kindly, and caring about my life.
Yeah putting a teenager in "the Hole" for months was pretty fucked. And illegal. And technically torture. And they neglected my needs for days. It wasnt just me, they ignored other inmates too. A lot of the guards are total assholes, naturally.
But eh, it really wasnt That bad (narrators note: It was that bad). I didnt get shanked or raped, and I think thats all you can ask from jail. I consider myself lucky, that I got off easy, and Im still glad I had the interesting life experience- I actually wanted to have the experience of going to jail. It was a lot more boring horror, slow pain, than any exciting adventure like I had hoped. It really changes your perspective on so many things, it makes you learn. I also met a friend there who seriously dated my sister, and she met her current serious bf because they were friends. So she met her two most serious loves because I went to jail lol. I was just glad I wasnt going to be serving my sentence in the suicide watch ward, where they first brought me, like I thought I was. That would have been hell.
I think that showing me early how shitty life in prison would be, and how not worth it it is, might have prevented me from escalating antisocial behavior into murder. Because I was really deep in it.
There were a lot of other inmates that were actually insane. And Im not even talking about the men constantly shouting yelling screaming so loud you could hear it clearly in the womans block (impressive really. But highly annoying). Some women screaming yelling too. Ok I did too a few times so what lmfao. But no, some inmates clearly should have been in forensic psychiatric care, not jail. They were clearly incoherent and not orientated to reality, so idk how you can deem them criminally competent even if they dont strictly have psychosis? They prob do anyways. Its wrong to put them in a cage and chains, theyre not mentally there. Although she Did have to have full chains and a 4 guard escort at all times due to a classification requirement (I did too- hilarious) so that means she did something physically violent, minor or major. Idk maybe she did something really heinous. But still, thats what forensic psych hospitals are for so maybe she'll go there after trial.
"Very obviously wrong" I mean ok yes, for the suffering I caused, but is it though... I mean is it really any worse than killing a chicken, or a pig? Pigs are a lot smarter than cats. Its just a cultural repulsion, a bias of attachment. Some countries eat cat and dog meat regularly... I know psychopathy is culturally relative in how its defined. But objectively, animals killing animals is natural. Most people eat meat, theyre just not seeing it happen. Modern Western society is alienated from death- we talked about this in a class once. Abuse is wrong though, its unnecessary suffering. Killing is normal but suffering should be minimized. A lot of the other inmates in jail didnt give a single fuck either. I mean some of them are actual murderers, so... This one older black guy told me he purposefully swerves into cats running across the road just for fun. Then he gave me a cookie. Wtf man. A few did, but they changed their minds about me. This one older white lady refused to even speak to me, but after dorming together for a while she ended up sneaking in cigarettes and candy for me, hah. (Um because she realized I wasnt that bad I guess, not because I beat her up or something). Sorry, ASPD is gunna ASPD. Lack of remorse and all that. But whatever, I paid the price to society fair and square, my social contract is intact.

So I’m not the same anon. But I’m a law student.
And I would add a few things.
First, under criminal law, there is a fundamental principle called the presumption of innocence — meaning the accused must be considered innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. A vague text message, without more direct evidence of wrongdoing, does not satisfy this standard.
The statement could easily be interpreted as an attempt to avoid discrepancies that might make them look suspicious, even if they were innocent. In high-profile cases like this, especially involving young athletes under intense media scrutiny, individuals might coordinate to ensure consistent, accurate storytelling, not to hide guilt, but to protect themselves from misinterpretation.
Legally, circumstantial evidence like this must be approached very carefully. It can raise suspicion, but it cannot replace concrete proof of a criminal act or a conspiracy to lie about one.
Furthermore, the phrase is ambiguous. It does not specify what “thing” they were agreeing on. Without direct evidence showing they intended to fabricate events, the defense can argue that the message is consistent with innocent behavior driven by fear, confusion, and social pressure.
Therefore, this message alone cannot be used as definitive proof of guilt.
And there are several reasons why maintaining doubts is reasonable:
1.) Emotional reactions and public outrage cannot replace solid, tested evidence in a courtroom. It is not enough for an accusation to exist, it must be proven with strong, objective evidence.
2.) The alleged event happened in 2018. Delays in reporting or investigating can affect the reliability of memories, availability of witnesses, and preservation of evidence. Human memory naturally degrades over time, especially under trauma or stress, which can create honest but inaccurate recollections.
3.) Media coverage can heavily influence how cases are perceived before all facts are known. When a case becomes a public scandal, witnesses and even alleged victims might feel pressure to fit certain narratives. Similarly, accused individuals may feel pressured to defend themselves in specific ways, not necessarily because they are guilty, but because they fear automatic condemnation.
4.) If the case relies mostly on testimonies, group chats, and circumstantial evidence (instead of clear physical evidence like forensic results), it becomes harder to meet the standard of proof required for a criminal conviction. In a fair legal system, suspicion is not enough, there must be clear and convincing evidence.
5.) In events involving multiple people, group psychology can complicate the situation. Actions and statements that seem suspicious after the fact (like coordinating stories) could stem from panic, fear of being misunderstood, or fear of being blamed for things they didn’t do individually.
6.) In some cases, one party may genuinely believe an encounter was consensual while the other party experiences it differently. Miscommunication, intoxication, and different perceptions can happen. However, criminal guilt requires proof that the accused knowingly violated consent, not just that discomfort existed. In this case, according to tweets from a reporter familiar with the investigation, it has been suggested that the complainant did not explicitly say “no,” but rather appeared uncomfortable and did not verbally express her unwillingness at the time. While clear discomfort is serious and concerning, from a legal standpoint, proving intentional violation of consent is critical for a criminal conviction.
And i just want to add, that doubt is not disrespect toward the alleged victim; it is respect toward the legal principles that protect everyone’s rights. In cases like this, where emotional narratives are strong but direct proof of criminal intent is weaker, maintaining reasonable doubt is both fair and necessary to uphold justice.
It may seem cold or even harsh, but this commitment to careful doubt is what separates justice from injustice. A fair trial demands that we judge based on verified evidence, not on emotion or public pressure. Respecting reasonable doubt is the only way to ensure that every individual — whether victim or accused — receives true justice.
