Yesterday there were two pics for things that happened #onthisday, but here are two more for 5/9, but this time in 1965. These appeared in the Ft. Lauderdale Sun Sentinel . First, Frank Warren BM1/C the OIC (Keeper) at #HillsboroLighthouse was featured cleaning the exterior windows of the Lantern Room (look close- it’s not easy to pick out, but it’s a dangerous job) and a shot in between the lens with the three large 250 watt bulbs it used to use. The second photo of the article incidentally was directly under the pictures. The reason it’s here is that the story is of Dr Raymond McAllister starting Ocean Engineering at #floridaatlanticuniversity . He was a founding member of the Hillsboro Lighthouse Preservation Society and grandson of former #lighthouse keeper Raymon Pinder. 2020: Indonesia as World Maritime Axis (angan-anganku tentang dunia maritime dan kebaharian)
Negaraku Poros Maritim Dunia
Sesungguhnya menurut Dr. Ir.

Going with the flow
Most of us don’t give a second thought to suspension bridges spanning across bodies of water, offshore oil platforms straddling ocean waves, or power transmission cables strung across the sea floor.
As long as the structures perform as designed, what happens beneath the surface remains out of sight and mind. Unless they fail, underwater cables and pipes — typically circular cylinders — withstand the dynamic loading of the ocean without much attention.
However, in the engineering world, the wiggle is a big deal.
