Top thing is a procreate doodle showing the typical exagerration of female cartooning I tend toward. I want to send an entry to a Mike Hoffman call for fan art. Drawing his character Octavia. It may take tracing her up before I embed the model in my drawing brain.

hi! sorry to bother! any sci fi recommendations with women in them? gay women would slap but i don’t want to be too demanding.
that is not too demanding at all! all of these are heavily focused on women & almost all have gay protags:
This is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar & Max Gladstone - poetic romance novella about two women on opposing sides of a war spanning all of time, unfolding through letters
The Space Between Worlds by Micaiah Johnson* - a tense, dark story about a world in which travel between parallel universes is monopolized, and a woman who is dead in almost every single one
Ammonite by Nicola Griffith - 90s lesbian/feminist scifi classic; thoughtful social sci-fi set on a world where a virus killed off all men and most of the women, about an anthropologist who's come to study the inhabitants and test a vaccine
The Echo Wife by Sarah Gailey - domestic thriller about a brilliant scientist whose husband clones her to make a "better" (more docile & housewife-y) version of her - and is then killed by the clone, leaving the two women to cover up the murder
The Luminous Dead by Caitlin Starling - unsettling, claustrophobic horror about a caver on an alien world, her untrustworthy handler being her only contact with the surface world
The Fortunate Fall by Cameron Reed* - bleak, heartwrenching 90s cyberpunk about a lesbian news reporter in a dystopian regime who uncovers more than she bargained for
Light From Uncommon Stars by Ryka Aoki* - emotional & hopeful scifi/fantasy mix about a trans violin prodigy, her teacher who has a deal with the devil, and an alien running a donut shop
some more, rapid-fire: Dawn by Octavia Butler* (iconic classic sf, first contact); The Telling by Ursula K. Le Guin (social sf, envoy-on-alien-world); The Seep by Chana Porter (utopian, unique take on alien invasion); The Splinter in the Sky by Kemi Ashing-Giwa (space opera, spy thriller); The Paradox Hotel by Rob Hart (time travel, murder mystery); The Outside by Ada Hoffman (cosmic horror); Gearbreakers by Zoe Hana Mikuta (dystopian YA, mecha); Woman on the Edge of Time by Marge Piercy* (classic sf, time travel)
(*books with an asterisk are ones I'd particularly recommend looking up the content warnings for, as they can get quite heavy)

Note
since reassass takes place in roughly the same time period the early saw movies came out, do you think any of them would enjoy saw? iand like which characters that theyd like^^ since you mentioned something about liking it one time lol.
oh yea absolutely!!! onion's the horror movie buff of the cast, and they'd probably watch it with jaundice too (who'd have to sneak them into the theatre cuz they're only 16). octavia would probably also enjoy it. i think onion would like adam the most and get (spoilers) really upset at his death. jaundice and octavia both like amanda of course, tho i think jaundice would also be a hoffman fan. she loves villains and bad guys :P

Premades Connected to Legacy
Throughout the legacy there are a number of Premades that make it into the story. At the beginning of the legacy I had no intention of adding premade stories into my storyline but I did want to give my heirs (Uriah and Abigail) backstories and families so I selected two premade families that already had children and renamed them. The first two generations I did not try very hard to stick to the integrity of the characters so many of the early characters have made up histories, changed names and regrettably (in the case of Cecilia Kang) changed skin tone so that their similarities to the originals are very slim.
Tumblr media
Watson Family - Renamed as the Hoffman Family and given an 1890’s makeover. Rahmi and Rashidah were both renamed to Miriam and Rebecca. I added Abigail as their oldest daughter. According to lore Thomas’ family owned most of Old New Henford which is a concept I kept along with Rashida (Rebecca)’s relationship with Rahul.
Tumblr media
Harris Family - Renamed to the Mizrahi family. Faye and Francine were renamed to Faline and Fallon. Uriah (my heir) was added into their family as the second son in order to give some backstory to my legacy. Though not directly mentioned in the story I imagine Faline originated from Evergreen Harbor and brought some unconventional ideas that made people like Thomas Hoffman look down on them.
Tumblr media
Rahul Chopra - I kept the original relationship between him and Rebecca (Rashidah) and his poor upbringing. Even though they never moved out of Henford they both have aspirations of leaving.
Tumblr media
Cecilia Kang - Cecilia meets Gideon Mizrahi (Harris) while in Windenburg. The only thing similar to the premade character is her desire to move to farm country and her name. Her appearance was completely changed in my legacy due to my original concept being that the family had Jewish origins and needed to marry other Jews. Later that idea changed into marrying within one’s world of origin.
Tumblr media
Bailey-Moon Family - Thorne was accidentally added into the family when Daniel Mizrahi fell in love with Elena Bailey. After a generation Thorne and Octavia had had at least 5 children in addition to Orange. I did not realize that Elena was Thorne’s daughter until I decided to have Daniel go and ask her father’s permission to marry. From this came the concept that all the worlds were growing and moving around each other and had yet to settle into their permanent location which is how Thorne could live in the Valley be the Dean of the college and send his daughter to Henford for school. Octavia only has a small interaction when Elena’s family comes for a visit. Orange is never seen.
Tumblr media
Knox Greenburg - The first premade I specifically selected for the storyline though I did not look closely into his lore but focused mainly on his most well-known characteristic of being a Recycle Disciple. He was childhood friends with Anabelle Gillain and lived with the 3rd gen characters as hobos eventually marrying Kaylee Hoffman. He and his wife founded the first Community Center in Evergreen Harbor
Extra Trivia: William Pigulock was specifically named after the Pigolock Manor in Evergreen Harbor with the intention of eventually inheriting the place.
Tumblr media
Don Lothario - Don is known for being a Serial Romantic though beyond that his character is considerably changed in my legacy where he’s a pimp. Initially I intended to have the Caliente’s be dancers that worked for him and be friends of Sofia but when infants were released the focus of that generation shifted.
Tumblr media
Landgraab Family - The Landgraab’s were the first family I really worked to stick to their lore while also putting my own twist on them. Nancy was introduced as a child and grew up with Ava Mizrahi allowing me to introduce her parents at one point and give a backstory of how she met and fell in love with a doctor. Nancy fit well with Ava who had her own mean streak and Geoffrey fit right into my San Sequoia Secrets arc. By the time Ava’s gen was done Nancy had taken over her father’s business and had baby Malcolm.
Tumblr media
Holly Alto - Holly is the only Alto in Sims4 and only had a small part in the legacy but her Uncle Bert had a slightly bigger part as the scummy fiancé of Nancy Landgraab until she fell in love with Geoffrey
Tumblr media
Kyle Kyleson - Kyle was the first premade to marry directly into the family tree. Growing Together was released just before Ava was born and since she was my 70s heir I knew he would make a great SO. While I mostly made him his own character I did develop an arc where he couch surfed for a short time and took on his classic look.
Tumblr media
Michaelson Family - As the most well known family living in San Sequoia it didn’t seem right to leave the Michaelsons out of it so when Ava moved to San Seq she became close friends with Celeste. I hadn’t initially intended to include Celeste’s sexuality but eventually made it a part of the San Sequoia Secrets and made them adopting their children a big part of the plot after deciding to introduce the lesser known Dudley Landgraab as Nancy’s bastard son who the Michaelson’s adopt.
Tumblr media
Johnny Zest - Johnny was introduced briefly at the beginning of the Fast Generation in a flash forward where his career is slipping. In current times he has just started releasing music as a Ranch Singer and is all the rage among the young ladies.
Tumblr media
Sienna & Flapjack - A famous Equestrian rider who is Kylan Marie’s hero. She has just recently been introduced.
Tumblr media
Grove Family - Has not fully been introduced. They are related to one of Kylan Marie’s love interests and have a connection to the spirits of the Ridge.
Tumblr media
Mai Prescott - Went to high school with Kylan Marie and has currently only been seen as a teenager in flashbacks where she is good friends with Lindsey Prescott.

Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman This is a book that makes me happy in a way I cannot explain well enough. The movie is amazing and part of my childhood but the book... I don't know, I think you have to have been a weird girl in a small seaside town to understand.
Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones You take a doomer 18 yo girl and turn her into and old lady that goes in an adventure? Like!!! Made for me, honestly.
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley Victor and I have a lot in common. LMAO.
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë There's so much in this book that is Made For MeTM from Jane's childhood queer platonic relationship with the girl from her boarding school to her falling in love with the worst man ever.
Dom Casmurro by Machado de Assis Social criticism against the white middle class in hilarious prose and a crazy bitch of a protagonist? Amazing!
Il Pentamerone by Giambattista Basile The fairytale bible, also, hilarious. One of those things that makes me feel warm "people has always been people" feelings.
Kindred by Octavia E. Butler I grew up watching telenovelas in which enslaved people was tortured, can't say this story was the first in which the protagonist was a black woman in that situation (because Xica da Silva and A Escrava Mãe exist) but like it has been a while since I watched either and this book fucked me up. Also I had dengue (they call it ague in the book) just after I read it, and I know it makes no fucking sense but I blame Rufus disgusting ass.
Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman Hilarious shit, this book is like a crazy anime I love it so much.
The Secret Garden by F. H. Burnett Because I was once a moody neglected little girl too.
Orlando by Virginia Wolf I too began as a pathetic incel and I am in hope of one day mature enough to turn into a woman.
Extraordinary Stories by Edgar Allan Poe Read this book way too many times as a child, my brain is forever goth shaped.

Mike Hoffman put a call out for artists to contribute pin-ups for his character Octavia. These will be in an anthology issue and the image above should be part of it.

Estrella Hoffman, my ghost sim for life and death. She's Octavia Hoffman's sister, and died young and tragically at the hands of a murder of crows after one taunt too many.
She hopes to find her soulmate, is chased by death, romantic, and cheerful. :)
