The Octonauts were human five years ago, here they are. I made Barnacles a bit younger cause apparently he’s in his 30s in the real show but I made him 60 😭 So now hes about 50? Or 40 but looks older. They’re living through the apocalypse I think they’re not paying much attention to skin care.

Ages: Inkling (70s-80s), Barnacles (45s-50s), Kwazii (40s), Tweak (late 30s-40s), Dashi (mid 30s), Peso (Mid to late 30s), Shellington (40s)

Also yeah Tweak has THE blue eyed stare.

V1 OCTONAUTS REDESIGNS!!!!!!!!! i am not joking this took me an entire day for how rusty it looks because i couldn't decide on a lineart style. but for now this mostly serves as a guide for myself

i love them with all my heart and added some insults jotted statements or headcanons on how i view each character

anyway I'll work on their clothes, especially for shel, kwazii, peso, and dashi for as long as my interest runs

I think it'd be funny if Kwazii was telling Peso some pirate adventure he was on and he's like "Oh Im sure ye'll go on tons of adventures soon Peso! What're you, like, 30?" Peso deadpans while bandaging a horseshoe crab "I'm 38" Kwazii's like "Oh okay thirty- THIRTY WHAT!? YER OLDER THAN ME!?!?"

FINISHED THE REST OF THE TEAM

Alright! So, before anyone asks, no, I will not redesign the vegimals. I can't add upon perfection.

However the rest are free game.

Tweak gets a more mechanic and engineering appropriate attire. So of course she has oil stains on her overalls and more faded clothes. I also made her bulkier and a bit more on the muscular side as a side effect of working with metal and building ships.

Shellington is the absolute dad. He is tired and exhausted wearing the simple wool sweater and pants with muted colors. His satchel is used to carry books and such, but the badges on it are made by each of the vegimals. He also carries around some pictures they made for him.

I seen Dashi's hair clips and ran with it by keeping a softer pastel look with lots of stars. From the patterns on her skirt to her hair clips. I gave her longer fluffier hair and shoes vaguely bases odd some Doc Martens I used to have.

I didn't want to add too much to Inkling since I already loved the way he looked. So I kept him the way he is and just adapted him into my style.

Octonauts Headcanons #18

The octopod is slightly sentient. Not like fully in control of everything but if Peso needs a certain medication it tends to end up right in arms reach and if Inkling is looking for a specific book it may just end up falling out of the bookshelves even if the octopod is stationary.

Captain Barnacles!

He has a cold suit under his uniform due to being a polar creature from the Arctic. It helps regulate his temperature

Kwazii!!

His sleeves are unevenly rolled up, and he has two belts to show his pirate side!

Peso!

Peso also has a cold suit under his clothes

He has a medic uniform instead of the normal uniform

Tweak!

She has gloves and goggles for protection!

Her outfit also has more pockets and a tool belt

Dashi!

Her bracelet has beads for each of the crew members! (Not all shown in the photo)

Shellington!

I gave him a sweater vest because it feels fitting

Peso— real name probably Pedro since it’s quite similar, Dashi - Darla, and Inkling, Professor (First name) Ivanovich, perhaps? Irvin?

I know they’re all anthropomorphic but things like Fish etc wouldn’t be. Poor Professor Ivanovich got octopus’d so he’s got allll the legs! He doesn’t mind through. Can hold more books at once.

Dashi tries to keep on the bright side. She’s a dog! Can’t be thaaat.. bad… But anyway, she’s kinda like Kwazii in that she likes getting into trouble. Maybe not as intentionally as him but she’ll do what it takes for a great picture.

Peso is fine with being a penguin but he kinda wishes he could un-bend his knees so he wouldn’t have to waddle— if you’ve ever seen a penguin skeleton you’ll see! It’s kinda like they’re always crouched.

Octonauts Headcanons

May add to this, as I go:

Captain Barnacles:

Just everyone’s Dad™

All of them, except for Professor Inkling, has called him Dad at least once. He doesn’t mind.

Nobody has ever seen him cry.

He spends one on one time with each of the crew members whenever he can (typically once a week with each of them).

Sings in the shower

Showers in the morning

Has pretty strict routines, but can also be flexible, given the unpredictability of life as an Octonaut

His birthday is in October. (I Googled when that flower that blooms every twelve years does so, to see if I could narrow down what time of year his birthday is. Apparently, the peak blooming period is in September/October and with OCTOber, I figured it fits!) I headcanon the 4th October because that was the air date of the first episode.

Cross-eyed (based on this post:)

If anybody on the Octopod were to go to his room and tell him they had a nightmare, he would let them sleep with him. (The only ones who do are Peso and the Vegimals.)

Despite that, he doesn't really like to be seen in his pyjamas, thinking it's unprofessional. (But he's so cute in his little pyjamas!)

Sort of a joke headcanon, but I'mma add it anyway: He has reoccurring dreams about playing his accordion on stage, with hundreds of adoring fans cheering for him. (That's what he's dreaming about here:)

Kwazii:

ADHD

Not just afraid of spiders, but needles too (not that he’d ever admit it!)

Often takes the GUP-B out just for the fun of it, but will also do so to get out of something (normally cleaning or when the Captain’s playing his accordion)

Sneaks into the Captain’s room to play with his model ships

Such a sweet tooth

Favourite kelp cake flavour is jelly

Messiest of all of them

Peso:

Intimidated by Captain Barnacles when they first met

Stopped feeling that way after a difficult mission, where the Captain told Peso he was very proud of him

Puts the Captain on a pedestal

Looks up to all the Octonauts, but of course, he looks up to the Captain the most

Youngest and most recent to join

Still pretty recent to join when the series started

Anxiety

He has hundreds of family members and he remembers the names and birthdays of every single one.

Shellington:

Autistic

Bullied as a child; Pearl stuck up for him and they were extremely close as a result

His satchel is a comfort item and a seemingly bottomless pit. If you see him pull things out of it, you’ll think, Wow! How did you fit all that in there?

Mother calls him Shelly; she’s the only one who does so

(I can’t remember where I saw this theory, but I think it makes a lot of sense.) In addition to marine biology, he has an interest in linguistics. That’s how he was able to learn Vegimalese.

Does not care if you interrupt one of his infodumps. He will just keep talking.

Clumsiest and most absentminded of the crew

Do NOT watch any nautical themed cartoon with him (e.g. SpongeBob or Finding Nemo). He will just spend the entire time pointing out all the inaccuracies.

Dashi:

Octopod’s unofficial DJ

Loves strawberries and strawberry flavoured things

Completely ignores danger while trying to get the perfect photo

Second best artist

Just loves babies! Any kind of babies!

Tweak:

Mother passed away when she was young; Ranger Marsh raised her all by himself

Known Captain Barnacles longer than any of the others

Even though the Captain is her dad and Kwazii’s her brother, she’s the mum of the Octopod.

Plays the banjo

Professor Inkling:

Most painfully slow driver you can imagine

Other than the Vegimals, he's the best cook on the Octopod

Gives the best advice

Shellington was one of his (most talented) students. That was how Shellington got the job with the Octonauts.

Never leaves the library unless he absolutely has to

Leave him alone with a child and he has no clue what he's supposed to do

Also the case when someone's crying

Vegimals:

Always make sure they have a supply of everyone’s favourite flavour of kelp cake in case anybody needs some emergency comfort food

Often sleep holding hands (they learned this from Shellington when they were babies)

Sometimes sleep with one of the Octonauts (mostly Shellington, but sometimes the others as well)

We know they get stuck in the kitchen vent. Well, I bet half the time, they get stuck while showing the other Vegimals how they got stuck!

Favourite kelp cake flavour is classic kelp
