i really like this song, i love listening & when i do i always start crying
i feel my interpretation doesn’t like up with others, and ive seen it being interpreted as a romantic relationship falling apart, but i believe it’s not. to me, this song is being sung from the perspective of a parent seeing the collapse of their child’s mental health as they get older. this collapse, eventually leads to suicide. however, i dont think the entire song is sung from the parents pov. i view some phrases as being said by bystanders and the child.
-ex;  what has got you distraught? (bystander questioning or parent questioning  - it's negative attention at best (bystander/parent assuming)                                -But call it nothing (the parent noting to themselves on how their kid dismisses their sadness as just being nothing or how they say that they’re not sad)                                                                                                                         -Maybe it's something, a little bit, a little bit (they don’t believe it, in the back of their mind they know something’s wrong.)
i also think the song is song as a reflection, post suicide. so memories and signals from the past are mentioned.                                                                ------don't put me to rest/ go on and hand me your clothes (an interaction between the parent and kid playing out in their mind when they were both younger.when remembering, a brief thought flashes through the parents head that replaces dialogue from their kid, what i assumed was a complaint about having to take a nap, is now replaced. the line “don’t put me to rest” is speaks to me as as a future statement? i don’t know how to explain it. i’ll edit this part later.)
Tears falling down at the party (edit) Saddest little baby in the room (reflecting on how their kid cried at a party, affectionately referring to them as their baby even as a teenager.) Fears, tell me fears, don't get me started  I get a little grey hair for every scare you share (they’re so stressed about what’s going on with their child, scare possibly referring to negative incidents that happen to the kid that have been shared to them, such as bullying.)
Those aren't meant to bend No, those aren't meant to bend Those aren't meant to bend No, those aren't meant to bend (edit)
I hear your eyes and I see those cries I hear those eyes and I see those cries I can't be the only one who hears you  (putting themselves into the time where they noticed more and more, but no one else did.)
after interpreting this way, i was confused on the title of the song, so i searched up some stuff abt oklahoma relating to suicide
-In 2015, Oklahoma had the 7th highest suicide death rate in the U.S. (https://www.ok.gov/health2/documents/FS-Suicide_Region6_GroupSE.pdf)
-  Adolescent suicide is growing at an alarming rate in Oklahoma.Suicides among ages 10-24 in the state have increased 41 percent since 2006, compared to a 33 percent increase in the youth suicide rate nationally for the same time period, Oklahoma’s 2017 Youth Risk Behavior Survey indicates. It is the eighth leading cause of death in the state, and the second leading cause for ages 15-34, reports the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. (https://www.fcsok.org/why-is-adolescent-suicide-on-the-rise-in-oklahoma/)

Set the phasers to rot What has got you distraught? It's negative attention at best But call it nothing Maybe it's something, a little bit, a little bit Maybe it's something to do a little bit It's all about ascension, I guess Don't put me to rest
Go on and hand me your clothes (O-oh, here you go) Take a picture or two (Two or three?) I can see you (Oh)
Tears falling down at the party Saddest little baby in the room Fears, tell me fears, don't get me started I get a little grey hair for every scare you share Those aren't meant to bend No, those aren't meant to bend Those aren't meant to bend No, those aren't meant to bend
