During the last week of July, the city of Omuta hosts the famous Daijiyama dragon festival with more than a dozen dragon floats. From what I’ve pieced together, local legend holds that there was once a battle between a dragonsnake and a crab on nearby Mt Miike. The crab defeated the dragon, creating 3 (healing?) ponds, of which one still exists today. During this festival, people are held up to the mouth of the dragons, which is believed to bring protection from illness. Many Yo-kai came from various design contests and other such things.

The first of these is where Dracunyan and So-Sorree originate from, with them being designed by Yuta Yamamoto and Sakigake Jikumaru respectively.

Horizontail and Sighborg Y come from another one of these contests, designed by Fuka Okawa and Souta Fukushima respectively.

Slippy and Bitter Batter were designed by students of Class 5-2 in Omuta Municipal Ginsui Elementary School. While not a contest, this was broadcasted on Japanese variety show program Kagaijugyō Yōkososenpai.

And finally, a cat Yo-kai with similar design aspects to Tomnyan in Bobnyan also originated from a design contest, though it's hard to know if the inspiration was intentional (I unfortunately can't find the name of the person who designed Bobnyan on the wiki, so if anyone has any idea, please let me know!).

高齢者が多く住む市営団地が取り壊されるにあたって、住民のみなさんが新しい団地に引っ越しする際の〈リロケーションダメージ〉を減らすための試みの一つです。専門職が住民とコミュニケーションを取りやすくするため、メンバーの自己紹介や、団地を大切に思っていること、捨てられないものの開示などを記事にしています。読みやすよう文字を大きくしたり、他のチラシ等との差別化を図るためリソグラフで印刷したりなど、工夫をしています。

Train Theme Cafe by Discover Fukuoka & Kyushu - Tenjin, Dazaifu, Yanagawa

Harah Harmony Coffee café opened on the retro train commonly known as “Tram No. 204”, which has been set in the station square of Nishitetsu Omuta Station since 2019. 

The café offers authentic coffee that inherits the taste of Omuta’s long-established coffee shop “Coffee Salon Hara” and “Fruit Sandwich” with plenty of fluffy whipped cream.
