I feel like I should say since there's been a recent uptick in a lot of communities I'm in/see stuff from a lot of white people pretending to be Asian, but you are not welcome here if you are in anyway stealing from Asian cultures for clout or the aesthetics of it
This includes if you're white and you give your self inserts Asian names, I truly do not care if your f/o is from an anime, you should not be using an Asian name under any circumstances. I hate that whenever I see someone using an Asian name online, I feel like I have to start searching their account to see if they're actually Asian or just a white person who likes the aesthetic of it bcs far too many white people will use Asian names here just bcs it sounds cool, with no regard for the actual cultural meaning behind it. Meanwhile actual Asian people will be mocked for their names, or treated like their names are too hard to learn to pronounce, or discriminated against based on their names
Asian cultures are not a fun little costume for people to dress up with. They aren't just a nice aesthetic, they aren't just a thing you can borrow from bcs you think it sounds cool

“What art does is to coax us away from the mechanical and toward the miraculous. The so-called uselessness of art is a clue to its transforming power. Art is not part of the machine. Art asks us to think differently, see differently, hear differently, and ultimately to act differently, which is why art has moral force.”
— Jeanette Winterson (Winterson, 2006)

SELF PUBLISHED AND SMALL PRESS AUTHORS: CHECK YOUR AMAZON PAGES
Recently I found out that my book was just gone. Completely wiped from Amazon. My author page said I never published anything. I got word from my publisher that this was a glitch with Amazon and they were working on fixing it. That was three days ago, and my book is not back up.
According to my publisher, small presses (between 200 to 1000 books) randomly had several titles “dropped” from Amazon.
My worry is that this may have also affected self published books that are only sold through Amazon. Please go check and make sure your work is still up. Even if just to make sure.

the book trend that needs to be left in the dust for the new year is greek mythology retellings. i am so sick and tired of "retellings" of greek (or roman, but mainly greek) mythology from authors that clearly have a very surface level pop cultural understanding of the myth(s) they're adapting and the culture(s) they're depicting. especially the many that market themselves as "feminist retellings" where the "feminism" is basically just "men bad sometimes", and especially when they're "feminist retellings" that take some of the few mythological women who get happy endings and take it away from them for the sake of saying "men bad sometimes". it's all so shallow and they exploded this year and i'm sick of it.

To make up for the fact that I didn’t do anything for them for Christmas, here’s another fake shoujo magazine chapter cover :]
pose ref ↓
HAHA ITS FROM ITAKISS!!!! Naoki and kotoko are nothing like the blorbs but I thought this pose worked for that scene (it’s apart of a much large page split into two images, but I decided to crop it cause the rest of it doesn’t matter tbh)

Bruv people have been saying being any flavor of queer would be made illegal and have you sent to a camp since trump won in 2016. There’s a lot of horrific human rights violations and fucked laws it’s not an easy existence but they’re not going to make concentration camps for gay people in the USA people are fear mongering in a way that wouldn’t even be helpful if it had an ounce of truth to it like what do you expect people in red states to do when you tell them they’re going to be split and quartered by the government if trump wins

the thing about mclennon is it's got published analysis by beatles expert saying they were basically married in every way but romantic. like yeah they weren't gay or having a secret relationship but they were in love and wanted each other badly but only in music lol haha. also we will compare the band's history to a romantic relationship between them and make every song they wrote together about them. I am a rock and roll historian btw

Girl, help, the book authors are trying too hard to be "hip" with the fleeting "teen lingo" and trends again, immediately dating their works before they're even released

I find it interesting that Barnes and Noble is calling themselves trying to take an 'anti-porn' stance now after the increase in sales that 'Spicy BookTok' and monsterfucker-adjacent novels gave them.
It's giving 'thanks for the money, harlot, now go rot in the street'.
