Can you tell us a little bit more about Heat transfer? Like ideias, inspiration, dabbles or whatever?

Nonnie!! I'm so glad you asked!! I love Heat Transfer! Just FYI, the next chapter should be out in a day or two. I'll put a snippet under the cut BUT OFC I WANNA TELL YOU LORE ITS LIKE YOU ASKED ABOUT MY KIDS AND I'M A PROUD MOM!!!

Baby is actually a shared OC with @gouraminnow. They had a dream one night in 2024 where they were the monster pet Darling of a yandere. They approached me with the idea and I came up with the plot of Heat Transfer and Baby's specific personality / lore. Heat Transfer was supposed to be a lot more Yan heavy but Baby had other plans.

Baby is based on IRL sea kraits which is why she's black and white striped and venomous. She's also a naga, but I created the subset of Sea Naga which I think fits the OP world pretty well.

She met Shanks in a little spin off but that didn't end well for him...don't touch venomous snakes, friends.

“Baby, that’s too many eggs. We’re not buying all that,” Ace humphed at Baby. He was hungry and wanted to either buy ready made food or snacks or fruit or something but not 3 gross worth of raw eggs. Baby’s sight hadn’t wandered since she’d taken in the display of eggs, her interest lazer focused on the hundreds of eggs available for purchase. Ace tried to use his haki to will her to change her mind but he was pretty sure even if he used Conqueror’s on her it wouldn’t work.

“Buying eggs,” Baby said excitedly, gripping Ace’s arm tightly.

“Yeah, yeah. Buying eggs,” Ace grumbled, taking a few packages of the eggs off the shelves. Baby scoffed at the three cartons in his arms.

“More eggs,” she demanded. Ace took two more cartons.

“Need more!” Baby complained, grabbing five more cartons in her own arms as her tail thumped against the floor.

“Baby, we don’t need that many eggs! You can’t eat that much in one sitting -”

“For share with Ace,” Baby said with a smile, her eyes closing with the happiness she was emitting. Fuck that’s cute, Ace thought. His heart melted even as he tried to keep his face impassive. 

“Fine, we can get ‘em. I still don’t think we can eat that many between us -”

“Sshare with Fossa, Namur, and Issou too. Thatch get one -” you speculated, counting off the people on your fingers. Ace barked out a small laugh.

“Thatch has to cook all this and he gets one egg?” Ace asked, now holding 10 cartons of eggs. Baby hissed her dissent and poked one of his cartons with a claw.

“One box for Thatch, one box for Fossa, one box for Namur, one box for Issou…rest for Baby and Ace,” she explained. Ace was taken aback - Baby was buying presents for the crew with the money she’d earned by kicking their asses.

tell me the story of how you found tdp

I think this is somewhere in my forbidden op lore tag but I found TDP at first in Nov 2017, as it was announced Aaron Ehasz from ATLA and Justin Richmond from the Uncharted video game series would be working on a new fantasy show together. I've been a big lifelong fan of both properties so I was pumped to say the least. ATLA has such great characters and worldbuilding (& at the time was my #1 fave show, although now it is TDP), and the Uncharted games have such cool mysteries and puzzles to solve. I kept an eager eye out since then!

Then in July 2018 (I think it was SDCC?? the info might've been released earlier, but that's when I saw it) we got our first summary for the show. I made this sideblog right then and there (I believe it was "crowndragonprince" to start with). I changed my url twice (once to raylaswife iirc) afterwards as they released little character snippets and names that summer on twitter.

After s1's release and the ship name for Callum/Rayla (who grabbed me thanks to a screencap of them sitting under the show released 8ish days before s1) was settled on as Rayllum (initially I was rooting for Cayla), I added the extra A and here we are... 6 and a half years later.

It's been a wild ride but every moment watching and talking about TDP with friends is something I'll treasure forever. Here's to another 6 years!

Controversial take: Hoid is a tumblr sexyman.

I like Brandon Sanderson, I think he's a good writer, but I never thought he was a great writer until the 'dog and the dragon' chapter of the Rythem of War at which point I realised that 1, Sanderson really knows how to use the story within a story device to communicate both to characters and the reader different information at the same time, and 2, Hoid is the ultimate tumblr sexyman: it's not the fact he's a super powered badass normal OP, it's not the fact he's sarcastic as hell, or the fact you need to peice his backstory togeather from a rabbit hole of internet lore and snippets of about 20 different books, and it's not the fact you could read him as Neurodivergant or bi, or the fact that his canonical appearance is a white haired pretty boy with cheekbones aka he looks like Jack Frost from that Guardans film that made us all wet back in the day. It's this: his in universe plan for defeating a litteral god of evil is shitposting. In universe shitposting. Whenever one of the heros is at their breaking point, Kaladin or Shallan or Lift, rather than actually act directly, he sits them down and tells them a long, rambling, often funny story that directly connects in no way with thier current situation, but speaks to their personality strongly enough to inspire them to keep going through their own darkest moments, and I think that is beautiful. It's the power of story itself to make the world a better place... just canonically delivered in the most annoying way possible by a massive and unapologetic troll (hell he beat up Kesler as much to teach him as anything), and i think that makes him more tumblr than any other recent litteraly character: his commitment to, in the face of Armagedon, be a silly little dude till the last.

I guess my Roman Empire in this ship is exploring the concept of forbidden, in one way or another, relationship. Mostly between two characters that are antagonistic in their core and life courses but that might also gravitate towards each other in their worldviews, personality traits, morals. Something that starts as a cautious, very murky and blurry arrangement, situationship even, and gradually evolves into something so much more complex and multifaceted, something the characters themselves have a hard time navigating, verbalising and at the same time aren’t even allowed to by the circumstances. Between me and my friend we say: “y’know, that indefinable thing”. You can’t call it a shallow, periodic interest, but neither is it love in its common form. The thing. Long distance relationship is also something I like to explore for them. Fun fact is that I don’t really believe in such concept in real life. However, their relationship can be spurred on by so many factors within the context of One Piece’s universe that it becomes a solid possibility. And one could notice that these ideas are soo repetitive in both my art and fics it’s a bit awkward to think about haha

As for AUs— I have so many... But my faves right now are the mer! ones (3 of them, all different… with human!Zoro and mer!Smoker, the other way around and, well, mer&mer), only one of them has grown a proper plot x). Aand the one with asura Zoro. This one’s set within the canon universe, but Zoro meets Smoker before he does Luffy. Also kind of trying to fit the concept of actual demons into op for this one... I’d really like to write a lengthy thing for the asura!zoro au but I think that I’m lacking the skills for that, so it’s a goal for much later

I actually have a lot of things planned and currently in work. A bunch of illust sketches, several short comics, maybe half a dozen ficlets in my drafts? I’ve also set to depict a preface for their relationship because I’ve mostly been showing their future days. And it’s pretty hard to backtrack since they’re married like 5 times in my head by now… the silly stuff, when one’s been shipping the two for several years x) Gotta give people some lore while I’m at it to go with the contextless smooching. However, i don’t have much free time these days with uni and the upcoming internship and attempts at job hunting ouhh… But I will! Get to all my plans eventually

Straight up dipped and left poor Jazz to deal with commanding the Autobots and dealing with the GHOST alliance! What an asshole, am I right? OP has his reasons, but still wtf dude lmao.

I love OP but I also love OP being less than perfect, and I want his Autobots pissed off at him.

Curious on how missingno plays a role within the au, are the twins not corrupted?

TLDR: Nope! The Pinkies are not corrupted by a Missingno in JarbleAU.

Maddox (Missingno) is it’s own person within the AU!

Originally in Jarble, the concept just didn’t exist at all. I was ripping them out of their current plot/setting so I didn’t see a need for it.

It wouldn’t make that much sense in the current setting/lore of Jarble. As it’s vastly different from all the blog counterparts.

Then I shifted and went “oh maybe MissingNo could be like, a metaphor for something”

But then shrugged that off, I figured what the characters were going through shouldn’t have been mixed up with metaphors or anything.

Then I thought “oh since they have weapons, maybe Missingno could be the names/symbolize their weapons!”

But then I didn’t like that either

EVENTUALLY I settled on a much funnier option. What if it was just a guy. What if I smashed Bones and Ghost together and made a guy. Originally was going to have another set of twins to be “rivals” to the Pinkies… but there are already another set of twins that fill that.

So I smashed Ghost/Bones together and made a single entity. He’s just a guy.

The “jarble” aspect making it so he’s no longer this super powered glitch entity but is instead… a little guy. Congrats on being a fupking kitty.

Maddox DOES have extreme story relevance still, as per my Jarble rules I can’t eliminate everything but. He isn’t some OP super glitch villain anymore. As for who/what he is in Jarble…

Maddox is a project created by the Mending Ring. I mean come on, can’t have the illegal science going on if they aren’t creating life!

He’s a test tube baby made by a sperm donation that Wem made when he was younger. Despite Maddox being a “”mew”” I still use heavy mewtwo symbolism because I think it’s funny.

Maddox was originally used for basic testing and whatnot. That old chestnut. But eventually showed stronger intelligence and eventually became a scientist himself, being one of the Mending Ring’s top scientists. Also him being the Mayor’s favorite/some weird parental relationship between them, Maddox gets a lot of special treatment.

He’s useful to the Mending Ring and the various studies and experiments that they do! However he does not really work with other scientists, he is still somewhat considered a threat due to him being a literal test tube baby experiment.

So, he lives in a basement type area that also functions as a laboratory! Socially isolated for the most part, he CAN technically leave if he wants to but he doesn’t. He actually enjoys it a lot and does his own thing.

That man is down there in his lab, in his boxers doing experiments and tinkering with things. OSHA and lab safety doesn’t exist to him, it’s his house and he will wear nothing but boxers if he so pleases. He will eat take out food and tinker with robotics while sitting like a shrimp. He does what he wants and he’s the Mayor’s special little guy.

He is technically Wem’s son, so he that means he is also the older brother (only by a few years) to The Pinkies. He dislikes this greatly however, he knows who his father is and hates him. He also knows of the pinkies and thinks they are annoying smelly spoiled brats.

Twin Compasses – first and formost, my big ongoing fic about Gale and Laerie, #verseweave as I call it. This is a retelling of the game with my elf bard of lore, Laerie. Two nerds falling in love. Angst will be later on.

The Blue Flower – a comfort fic in a modern AU, where Gale and Kitani are academics and friends (initially). In this one Gale comforts Kitani, who had had a surgery. Just fluff and some feelings.

The Intricacies of Cherries – Gale and Tav cannot understand each other, when it comes to sweet and sour cherries. Spicy moment ensue (not explicit).

Free – fluff with the same #verseweave as the first fic, but just a short snippet. Gale and Laerie climb atop of the tower in Baldur's Gate, and eventually Gale discovers that she had plans (nothing spicy or explicit).

Coffee – modern AU again. Kitani and Gale are just fellow academics yet, Kitani is pondering upon the awful coffee she has to drink on the conference. Gale has a solution.

let's start with some fun facts:

when I first started writing BOTRD, it was entirely in Rosalie's pov and it was intended to be a straightforward romance (i refer to this as draft zero). i got about 80% of the way in and then realized 1) it's not really romantic at all and girlie needs to get out of this situation and 2) there was another story hidden in Theodore's pov that i wanted to explore

the first completed draft is sitting at 95,267 words and is organized into acts and scenes, not chapters. here are the names of the first scenes from each act (only used for outlining purposes):

act 1: "sunrise" act 2A: "old flame" act 2B: "ten seconds" act 3: "mouse thunder storm"

after finishing the first draft, i jumped straight into writing the prequel, Judas Wept. and im so glad i did! it really influenced how i'm approaching future drafts (and it gave us Elias! i love Elias!)

my favorite character to write dialogue for is Emily. my favorite character to write period is Marcella

some rapid fire lore!

at the beginning of botrd, Theodore has consumed 2 souls: the soul of the person that killed him, and Andrew's. at the end, he's got around 6,000 (most from Mortae voluntarily sacrificing themselves to make him OP)

Marcella only targets men due to her past trauma and a desire to protect young women. she thinks it's funny when they beg. she has no qualms with murder or lawlessness. if she had Theodore's abilities, we wouldn't have a story. she would've dealt with this mess a century ago

Rosalie is very subdued and passive in act 1. she thinks more than she speaks or acts in her first few POV chapters. stuck with one foot in the past kinda thing. once she starts processing her grief, she becomes more of an active participant (which is not necessarily a good thing! but! she's healing!)

Azmaveth has a whole secret backstory (Uriel, too! i dont know if we ever unlock that one on page) but basically: he lost a child, so now he's ultra protective of his wards (Theodore and Marcella) BUT he has to balance that with his loyalty towards Morrigan so she doesn't come by and just slaughter all of them

i affectionately refer to Rosalie's friends as "the humans" and they're a bunch of goobs. Mike is a golden retriever. James is a chihuahua. Henry is a dachshund. Emily isn't a dog, she's a mountain lion

and now, a favorite snippet:

I start silently amending my statements without her having to ask. I lived in California for a few years and recently moved back. Truth. I work at my foster father’s restaurant. Lie. I don’t follow any sports, but baseball is my favorite. Truth. She coughs to hide her chuckle, but I don’t think anyone is fooled. Baseball? It’s the great American pastime, is it not? Aren’t you French? Her eyes dance with laughter. I’ll give her all of my secrets if she just keeps looking at me like that.

I work. I eat. I sleep. I go to family dinners once a week and participate in conversations and drinking games and try my best to quell the worry in their eyes. It’s easy, or it should be. I don’t tell them about Theodore, and they don’t ask. Not directly anyway, but I see the questions in Emily’s eyes when she catches me twisting my wrist in the lamplight, studying smaller scars that linger above the others, the promise I’d made, the debt owed. I try not to think about it and succeed, mostly.

Video OP's referencing. Wasn’t the original idea for Vaggie that she was a prostitute who committed suicide from a drug overdose?

If Viv stuck with that concept and added some deeper lore, she would actually be the perfect test for Charlie’s plan AND maybe throw in a good love story too.

Think about it: have Vaggie raised in an abusive house. She becomes used to the abuse and gets into prostitution as an escape. Maybe she was groomed as a kid ( very common ) so she doesn’t know it’s wrong or if she does, she has internal conflict about it.

Then when she sees where her life is, she commits suicide.

The angles might have seen her life without full context or presumed she was inherently bad because they only saw snippets. This would give Charlie and Emily ammo.

I know people will say, “what about Angel Dust? He fits the same role.” He does, except he’s canonically a drug addicted and murderer who loves doing both ( pilot was confirmed by Viv to be canon still ). He doesn’t like any of this with Valentino because he’s abusive but it’s implied, in context, it’s only because he’s abusive. That is - if he weren’t for Valentino he’d enjoy it even more. Vaggie is more of a blank slate in canon. Or if Viv wanted that with Angel, which - as a fellow fujo I get why she would, that should've been Angel's setup. That he objectively didn't want to be in the mafia. Maybe he was disowned because the mafia hates gays ( historically true ). Maybe he tried but his dad was like, "son - ya' too much ofuh fagget" and he had to turn to prostitution. didn't enjoy it because of his beliefs as a god-fearing Italian catholic or whatever, and overdosed on drugs via suicide - bam.

Like - I've been around OF chicks. There's a certain illusion they put on. It's been a while since I've seen Taxi Driver, but I remember that being a more accurate and nuanced portrayal of of pimp ( Sport ) and his prostitute ( Iris ). I know half of this is pacing issues, but - yea. In that movie, you could see how someone like Iris became who she is and if sent to hell but given actual judgment, might get some leeway.

Just an idea based on personal experiences, my observations of these kinds of people in rl, and what’s given in canon.

This one is hard for me to answer because I feel like I'm bragging, but in general I think it's worldbuilding + plot. Even for a modern AU like LLG, I put a ridiculous amount of thought into the ghost lore, and it's really hard for me to write a fic that isn't plot-driven. So a fic with lots of worldbuilding + abundant plot twists is probably my trademark.

🌬 Wind - What was the easiest part of your WIP to write?

I really love a flashback, and Enough to Go By has a lot of those. I really enjoy trying to fit the small ones into the larger scenes. There are a few bigger ones coming up, though, so I'm looking forward to what response (if any) there is to them.

🌫 Fog - What was the hardest part of your WIP to write?

SMUT. Oh my god. It takes me about five times as long to write my anemic version of smut as it does to write any other part of the story. The scene in Chapter 3 of Haunting for Beginners was especially tough, for a lot of reasons. I brought it on myself, but still.

☀️ Sun - What's your favorite part of your WIP?

I'm going to be garbage and put one for all my Shigaraki WIPs:

Enough to Go By - the scenes which occur in the gap between Seasons 5 and 6 of the anime. We're a ways away from them but I loved writing them.

Skin Hunger - my favorite so far is probably the last scene and a half of Chapter 3. It was not a happy chapter but I felt like it packed a punch.

Bloody Valentine - I like the scene snippet I posted, but my actual favorite part so far is the first chapter when Shigaraki and the reader get kicked out of chem lab.

Opposites Attract - the next official meeting between Shigaraki and the reader cracked me up while I was writing it.

Expiation - my favorite scene is the entire next chapter, featuring the duel between Sir Tomura and Sir Katsuki and all its aftermath. I'm excited to post that one.

Blind Date - the post-date post-op featuring the League, which will be in the next chapter.

Tam Lin - ...all of it? This one is weird and probably will be my least popular, but I'm so excited to add more of the legend into part II and III of the fic.

I have a feeling I forgot one. Why do I have so many WIPs.

So. This got LONG. Sorry not sorry.

This not-story has the working title “For Such a Time As This” owing to a scene in my head where Delenn says “Perhaps the universe has brought us all together for such a time as this.”Appropriating Bible verses for the Minbari, oh yeah.

Right now this document is just a collection of ideas about how these universes might interact, and a few scenes/ideas. Such as:

- Infinity’s communications officer falls and breaks her nose when they crash out of slipspace. Lasky is shoving gauze at her when Babylon 5 makes contact. He shows up on the station with blood all over his uniform and his first conversation with Sheridan is something like “Do you have laundry around here? Also, what year is it?”

-Garibaldi and Palmer have to chase Halsey around the station. They bond over a shared love for Loony Toons. Palmer is a Roadrunner and Coyote girl, change my mind.

- Franklin is utterly furious when he finds out about the Spartan program. And that’s just the IVs. He doesn’t even know about the IIs.

- Lasky is insanely envious that B5’s computer can turn the attitude OFF and that cryo is not widely used in their world.

- Ivanova and Palmer become besties and give their respective captains a few headaches.

- Garibaldi wants to keep the Spartans because WOW are they useful for security.

- Various Halo characters grappling with the “who are you/what do you want” questions (I have ideas about this I will save for another post).

- What a fight with the Shadows might look like with Infinity in the mix. Seeing as Infinity is more powerful than anything in the B5 world. Sheridan and Lasky would make a fascinating team, too.

- How the Shadows would end up using Halsey, because even she couldn’t outwit them, and the trouble she could make in another universe.

- Lasky muses at some point how Babylon 5 gives him hope that one day humans and aliens can all work together peacefully; maybe the UEG should give something like this a shot. Palmer tells him, “You know they’d want you to run it” and Lasky is like F—- NO.

Now, all my reasons for why this epic will never make it out of my head:

Altering the B5 storyline (namely having to scrap the tensions with Earth for simplicity’s sake) would feel to me like sacking the Jerusalem temple.

I’d need to know even MORE about B5 lore than I already do, not like I’d have a problem with that research project, and a whole lot more about Halo than I do. On that last point, I am married to a walking Halopedia who would gladly tell me everything and then some.

There’s also the matter of having to make several OCs for the Halo side. Aside from Lasky, Palmer, and Roland, we don’t meet many of the Infinity crew. Does Lasky even have a first officer? I mean, he obviously does, but does he ever talk to this person? We got through all of Spartan Ops and Halo 5 with nary an XO in sight.

Finally, silly as this may sound, I’m no Straczynski and don’t trust myself with his characters and universe. I have no problem taking a sledgehammer to Halo because it’s great and fun and sometimes just mind-bogglingly stupid. But B5 is so brilliant I can’t bring myself to touch it. I would be scared of incurring the wrath of my fellow fans and also probably feel like I had to write JMS a letter of apology.
