I LOVE ALL OF THESE CHARACTERS BTW. I DO NOT WANT TO SEE YOUR HATE FOR THEM ON MY POST
#textboxes#deltarune#susie deltarune#lancer deltarune#kris dreemurr#ralsei#my art#long post#hi welcome to my secret notes about this textbox adventure!#my developer's commemtary if you will.#i originally drew susiezilla in her light world color palette. but i changed it afterwards because i realized she likes herself better in#the dark world than in the light world. if she were to draw an idealized version of herself it'd be based on her dark world form.#if you pay attention to kris' drawing you'll see that they tried to give it big angel wings. but it's kind of hard to do that when you can'#control yourself.#i named Urisk that to complete the . uhm. quadfecta?#Frisk Urisk Chara Kris. or FUCK for short.#i was going to give urisk angel features because they're so Good. but i realized ralsei probably considers devils to be good rather than#angels. since he exists to banish the angel's heaven and all the heroes have strong devil motifs surrounding them.#i still gave them a halo though bc i still wanted them to seem Good.#i feel like the pacing on this one could have used some improvement#but overall i'm just happy i got it done! i'm very proud of it :]#that's the thing about these textboxes. it's really hard to go back and change previous textboxes#you've just gotta keep on chuggin forward until you reach the end! no looking back!#anyway i hope you enjoyed this one! :3#oh also. i put kris on the opposite side of everyone else to symbolize their isolation from everyone else bc of the soul#okay actually i have more to say. so susie's drawing looks like something hou could actually draw on a paper#meanwhile ralsei's was based on the drawing on his unused manual. which has pure black outlines and perfectly filled colors like it was mad#in ms paint. also i was originally going to include noelle and berdly in this too#berdly's OC was going go be Super Lord Berdly; Mayor of Smartopia#and noelle's OC was going to be really beautiful but really tragic

Hindsight is 20/20, but I don't think you needed to be psychic to guess that destroying ALL the shimmer supply was a bad idea.
In Act Three it took three whole doctors to save Vi's life after she gets slashed by a Noxian blade across the chest. Yet in s1 it took a single drop of shimmer to save Vi from the deep stab in the gut Sevika gave her without any other form of medical intervention.
There's just a really gross sense of irony that Caitlyn and Piltover at large took away Zaun's main source of medical care (as controversial as it may be), and then put it's people through a meat grinder battle while withholding such care.

It doesn't help that the meat grinder battle was useless ploy for Jayce to get close to Viktor and so a lot of people, specifically Zaunites, died for nothing.
#arcane#caitlyn kiramman#vi arcane#gertie arcane#arcane meta#on one hand there's this completely unexplored aspect of arcane#where zaun is a place that actually has developed advance technology to deal with it's ailing population#while Piltover's side lagged behind bcuz they're culture has no real sense of urgency to care for the disabled and ill#Piltover's clean and healthy environment is already a large preventative measure for it's populace so they don't race to develop treatments#and cures#but just like the overall nature of the PnZ conflict in arcane it's inclusion in the show is outright shallow and ultimately dropped by s2#bcuz the writers aren't in fact interested in it#but oh well bcuz i am#that whole finale happened without any sense of shame remorse of self awareness from anyone on the piltovan side#and that wud be fine if ANYBODY else acknowledged including the writers#srsly the only zaunite necessary in that fight was ekko and that's it#everyone else was literally set dressing

"i dont hate this female character, i just have a nuanced take on her" and the nuanced take is comically stereotypical misogyny
#cough cough#i dont think i need to say it#meows post#edit i changed my mind im tagging this#teruhashi kokomi#mabel pines#ashley campbell#princess celestia#madoka kaname#also wanna say princess bubblegum and pink diamond but ik people are just gonna go 'blah blah blah but they actually did things wrong blah'#like yea i KNOW and thats not what im talking about#ALL these characters did things wrong because theyre developed and well rounded characters#like yes if pink diamond were a man she would still be criticized for what she did#but would people talk about him the way they do her? would they debate if his naivety was just disguised evil?#would they treat every mistake like it makes him an overall evil villain and erases all the things he did right? and his good intentions?#would they ignore all reasons he had for going as far as he did and say 'he shouldve found a better way' no matter how hard he alr tried?#pink diamond#rose quartz#princess bubblegum

One of the strongest points of Mass Effect, if not the strongest, is just how well written the characters are. From Shepard, to the squad, to the side characters like Anderson and Bakara, to barely-there NPCs like Ereba and Charr the lovers, Etarn Tiro the enthusiastic turian merchant, Kargesh the krogan who wanted a fish, Lia'Vael, the quarian who gets falsely accused of theft, and the Salarian who wants to buy a memento to his asari lover to remember him by once he's dead.
I feel like so many of them are memorable, and they all serve a purpose to the overall world building. The krogan show that they are not the violent thugs the galaxy has made them out to be. The salarian shows the struggle born out of building relationships with people of a species with a life expectancy so beyond your own. Lia'Vael illustrates what Tali says about the quarians being treated like second class citizens. Those small little side quests have a meaning and a purpose, it doesnt feel like they are Just There, and they add more to the lore of them game to those who care about that stuff.
#Romance is an exception- I am 100% an outlier here but most of them are hmm. not quite as developed as they could#Most shippy feelings I've acquired are more like headcanons based off the stuff that happens in canon#Than canon things that happen during the game (but MAYBE it's because femshep can't romance talizorah)#That's just my opinion though lol and I don't think it makes the game bad. I think it's logical#You can't make space for too many branches based off romance or it'd be madness#So to keep the story more or less linear they have to be independent of the story by default#Mass effect#Mass effect liveblog#Txt#Of course I'm sure there are exceptions. And contradictions (ahem samara being the mother of all ardat yakshi)#But overall and taking into account just how many there are it's pretty good

after reading Peter Clines Ex-Heroes pentalogy I can confidentiality say that Danielle Harris is one of the coolest heroes ever, what do you think of her?
^This lady So what I like about Danielle Morris/Cerberus is that she's a take on the Iron Man archetype in the context of an otherwise deliberately incredibly low-budget superhero universe, a setting where, with the exception of one millionaire, the superhero population consists almost entirely of working-class people in kludged-together wetsuits and motorcycle leathers who only get away with their low-rent costumes by virtue of the fact that they do, in fact, have incredibly potent superpowers. This is a hard circle to square, aesthetically, if you also want to introduce a hero who uses power armor, because that shit's expensive.
The solution? Cerberus doesn't debut after the other half of the book's elevator pitch, the zombie apocalypse, is already well under way. The fact that there's only one set of the armor despite the extensive documentation that must exist is due to the fact that the armor is a prototype, slated for eventual mass production but hastily deployed as a show of force by a rapidly disintegrating military that's at the point of just throwing whatever they've got at the wall to see what sticks. The typically-inadvisable trope of the suit's chief engineer also being the field pilot is initially justified by the fact that she's the only person left who knows how to operate it; and then by her reluctance to train a second person on how to operate it because she comes to be psychologically dependent on the physical protection it provides her. Protection that's at least somewhat illusory, to boot, because if you take a shot for every time the suit very realistically suffers a power failure or mechanical failure at a crucial juncture, you're going to lose your liver. The collapse of the logistics network impedes the armor's ability to work at full capacity almost from the start; those bracers on her arms in the above illustrations are for .50 Caliber machine guns that ran quickly out of ammo after her first skirmish and had to be mothballed. The series is very clear that Cerberus wouldn't be viable in the long run if she weren't on a team with several other superhumans, including an electrokinetic and a technopath, who can help cover the suit's weak points. Ironic, given the implication that the original point of Cerberus was so the army would have an answer to those same people. Overall, the armor is paradoxically portrayed as both viable and nonviable.
One of the really interesting things about Ex-Heroes's worldbuilding is that superheroes numbered in the dozens before the apocalypse, but supervillains only start to emerge in any real numbers after the apocalypse, when the prospect of being able to start a fiefdom or a cult of personality without someone noticing and coming to kick your shit are significantly greater; before that, criminals with powers mostly kept what they were capable of on the down low because there was no sane reason to adopt the kind of comic-book classic presentation that would call a superhero down on their heads. Thus the quiet thesis of the series is that quite a bit of classic superheroic nonsense would be actively facilitated by the end of the world and the collapse of society; the incentives and the restrictions would change, but heroism would remain pointedly necessary. Cerberus is also part of this quiet thesis. The perpetual tension of Tony Stark is that we know him to exist in a world full of cultural, legal and logistical restrictions, against which the specific fantasy of being Iron Man would inevitably run aground. Cerberus, as a superheroic identity, never existed alongside any of that. It's way easier to be a knight errant or a lone ranger if that's the only version of those things left that anyone can be.
#ex-heroes#peter cline#ask#asks#it's been a while since I've read the series in full beyond some skimming necessary to respond to this ask#so it's possible some of the details are flattened#particularly the specifics of her complex surrounding the armor-#a combination of severe agoraphobia control freak tendencies and insecurities about her usefulness outside the suit#but I don't recall the precise amount of each in the overall cocktail#thoughts#meta#zombies#her character development does IIRC involve loosening that death grip on the suit and prepping sucessors

Watching Phineas and Ferb and how have I never noticed how sweet Jeremy is as a boyfriend?!!!! Like he's actually so kind and caring and he genuinely likes Candace for who she is with all her big emotions and her need to bust her brothers. This is such a sweet and healthy relationship and I love it so much!!!
#like this is my first time actually really rewatching the show and looking at like character developments and little details and stuff#and there's so many good things in this show#just in general how kind and sweet everyone is#nobody judges ferb for not talking much#candace's mom never tells her that she needs to stop or gets angry at her for no reason#nobody ever makes candace feel like she's too much or annoying#their parents also have a very healthy and loving relationship and their mom never gets annoyed at their dad's quirks or 'weird' behaviors#just overall this show is genuinely so good and shows a lot of healthy relationship dynamics that you don't see so casually portrayed in#other shows#i just love it a lot <3#phineas and ferb#pnf#candace flynn#lea's random thoughts
