#POLE ROUTINE

Went to a pole class today (would recommend!) and now I'm thinking about how Tendou would initially think poling is weird and so of course he joins a taster session in the spirit of endorsing weird things and making himself weirder. but, upon seeing the pole, he would immediately gravitate to messing about pulling himself up the pole and twisting around it and have so much fun that he'd get really into it. I defo see him being a lil trickster who is super bendy and loves dropping down the pole in a trick until he almost slams his head on the floor just to hear people gasp and clap.

I think he'd invite Ushijima to come watch him in a showcase or competition or something, not really expecting him to show up, but then he does and Ushijima's distinctively very out of place, being huge and intimidating amongst half-naked people when he greets Tendou and the other performers. But he's very supportive and claps respectfully during the routines when other people do (though he doesn't understand the cheering and whooping) and he really likes watching Tendou do something he enjoys and gets a kick out of.

And then I'm imagining Tendou inviting him to a class but Ushijima doesn't really know what to do and Tendou does his best to introduce him slowly to it all, teaching him steps and footwork before even touching lifts and spins on the pole. But then I think Ushijima would start testing how he can lift himself up the pole, just a grab and pulling his body up to start with. And it's easier than he expected. And then he's just pulling himself up the pole and he's scrambling like a lizard and he reaches the top or the ceiling and he looks at Tendou and there's just pure joy in his eyes because he really, really likes scrambling up and down the pole like something feral and it's fun. I just think Ushijima would just really like being in the air and perfecting his form and then he'd just tag along with Tendou who'd be so so surprised and so so enthused by it all. They'd be the strong and talented giants that everyone loves to watch perform and I love that for them.

okay so a headcanon

Quackity does pole dance, but Wilbur instead of only seeing it as something sexual, he mostly sees it as some sort of art like ballet, something gracefull. Of course, sometimes he gets aroused and he always is blushing, but he is usually just blushing from looking at Quackity doing sonething he sees as so dificult.

Wilbur admires Quackitys habilities, and sometimes Quackity tries to teach him a bit, and after sometimes Wilbur learned just a bit, like how to climb the pole, how to go down (wich i think he learned a sometime after learning to climb, so usually Quackity would have to help him get down, and now Wilbur sometimes Wilbur acts like he cant is "afraid of the heights" and he needs Quackitys help, just so Quackity would carry him down) and like really simple postures, but its nothing near how professional Quackity is, espcially since Quackity does phisycal things daily and Wilbur just does that when he is with Quackity while Quackity is doing something physical

I love this as a concept, and the first part is absolutely true

BUUUUUTT - and here's some random Fern trivia - I actually do pole, and I'll be honest, Wilbur is not learning to climb without determination. The very beginning your skin hurts like an absolute B I T C H. Like, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he couldn't do it - it's not impossible, obviously - but if it's just him learning a couple tricks, then he's not gonna learn to climb, especially if we go with the hc that his body isn't in the best shape post revival

Also he'd have to jump down and have Q catch him, cause I can't imagine the amounts of leg and abs strength it'd require to go down a pole while holding someone else in your arms--

Also pole isn't that high off the ground, and always during practice you'll have a mattress underneath, so jumping off even from a higher point is usually safe. And before climbing you learn to sit, and alongside that you pick up on how to safely jump/slide off a pole from lower heights

But like in all fairness I'm being mostly pedantic, cause pole is my favourite sport ever, and I had to temporarily give it up recently, so now I'm hanging onto any chance to talk about it lmao--

hello lemon! i'm so sorry this took so long to answer but i come to you humbly with a response that is like... * checks watch * 4 months late sweeeeet ok ok no one look at me.

for context, yes, you can absolutely do a group (including doubles) routine. i actually have the best idea for this but i CAN'T use it because i'm so obsessed with this particular theme idea if someone ever put it on stage before i got the chance to i'd be absolutely shattered so!!!! it must remain a secret.

therefore, i choose my backup option. i had considered some classic ideas here - charlie's angels etc. - but then my partner leaned over and said 'has anyone done a Wiggles themed routine?' and no. they haven't. so that's what we are doing. Big Red Car, Hot Potato, Fruit Salad, Wake Up Jeff (except it's going to be Wake Up Pez), the works. It's gonna be a 4 min medley of Wiggles songs. Obviously, costumes will be coloured bodysuits. People think that pole dancers wear no clothes just to look hot, but actually you need skin grip to do half the tricks, so the standard Wiggles costumes will need to be adapted.

NOW. as to the people.

Obviously, Pez. I don't actually think Pez would be the best pole dancer, but he is very enthusiastic and fun and would bring great energy. I'd probably allocate him to the task of rolling around on the floor and just slaying the stage generally. Also, he has a name that will work with the Wake Up Jeff song. So, he is the Purple Wiggle.

I think Zahra would actually have a concerning level of flexibility and obviously the raw competitive energy. We need her. She's gonna be that bitch that does a back handspring on the stage or something. Plus, she's bossy as hell. So she can be the Yellow Wiggle aka. The Main Wiggle.

Lastly, I would pick June. Idk why. She's giving dancer energy. She's giving team player. She's giving hotness. She would be that person who would actually do the doubles tricks with you and you know she wouldn't let you go. She's probably not the most excited about being on stage, but neither am I, so we can hold each other and cry. Everyone knows the Blue Wiggle is the hot wiggle, so she would be that one.

I would be the Red Wiggle which like... doesn't suit my brand but whatever. Sacrifices have to be made for this routine.

Honourable mentions - I considered Dani Rojas but he is just way too chaotic and uncoordinated, plus, he can't wear dress shoes, imagine him in 8 inch pleasers. absolutely not. I also considered Nancy because she's hot. But she also seems kinda uncoordinated. sometimes having very long limbs can be a limiting factor. Henry was probably my fourth choice, but he missed out because he seems even more hesitant of the stage than I am.

Absolute no go - Owen and Ellen, because no one needs a limelight hog when you're trying to do a group routine. TK unfortunately does not have the rhythm we need. Mateo - I just couldn't imagine it. If the theme was Avengers, maybe I could have included him. I really WANTED Sam to be in this, but he also just didn't fit the vision and I also think he'd just be way too embarrassed to do something this stupid. You actually can't have too much self respect if you want to do a Wiggles routine.
