In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Flurrie’s Gale Force move has the chance to instantly remove regular enemies from battle, completely skipping having to fight them normally. As is standard design philosophy for RPGs, moves that have a chance of instantly ending the battle do not usually work on bosses.

However, there is one exception. Due to an oversight, in the first miniboss fight against Lord Crump at the very beginning of the game, Crump is coded to have a 100% vulnerability to Gale Force, instead of a 0% one that he (and all other bosses) has in all other battles. This cannot normally be exploited as Mario is not supposed to have Flurrie as a partner at that point, so it can only be showcased by using cheats to make her present in the battle. Note Crump flying away and Star Points being immediately awarded.

In addition, note Mario clipping into Goombella. This is due to Goombella not actually being coded as Mario’s partner in this battle, but rather as an NPC. By using another partner and switching places, Mario will occupy the same space that is meant for Goombella, merging with her.

I can’t describe just how happy I am to see TTYD’s visuals enriched THIS perfectly. The papercraft builds! The extra details and new faithful character sprites! (Flavio actually sings now! That custom shop sign in Twilight Town!!) But also - THEY DIDN’T OVERDO RENDERING! Thank you so very much for adding atmospheric lighting that matches the look and tone of the original scenes while not bludgeoning our eyes with bloom & blur.

Are you going to buy Paper Mario TTYD when it comes out on Switch?

Probably, lol. I'm surprised they revealed it so soon after revealing the SMRPG remake when the latter isn't even out yet, even if TTYD presumably won't be released until much, much later.

Would have been nice if they tackled the original Paper Mario beforehand, but I can live with it... unless they also do Super Paper Mario (for those who aren't aware, I'm not too fond of that one), THEN I'll be annoyed at the original's exclusion. :P

For now though, this is the first time in a while where I've been excited for multiple games at the same time. With how a certain 2022 game left me feeling burned, it's appreciated.
