Modern Paperless Registration Technologies to Make Your Event Successful
In recent years, the event industry has completely transformed how events are executed. Earlier execution of events used to take months, in the case of event registration and ticketing. The audience used to stay in long waiting lines to book their slot for the event. But gone are the days of long queues and waiting lines. The event industry has revolutionized in terms of event planning. Numerous modern paperless event registration technologies have been introduced to make your registration and ticketing process seamless and smooth.
In this blog, we are going to discuss modern paperless solutions for event registration and ticketing. So without further ado, letâs start:
Paperless Event Registration Technologies
Thereâs no doubt that everyone is opting for paperless solutions for their events. Hereâs a list of paperless solutions that you can consider for your events.:

1. Online Registration Portals
Modern events start with online registration portals. These user-friendly platforms allow the audience to register for your event from their comfort zone. Online registration eliminates the need for paper forms and manual data entry. It streamlines the process and reduces the risk of errors. Attendees can provide all the necessary information, from personal details to dietary preferences, at their convenience.
Moreover, online registration portals offer real-time data tracking of whole event registrations, giving event organizers instant insights into attendee numbers and demographics. This data enables better planning and marketing decisions. Also, it ensures that your event is tailored to your audience's needs.
2. Mobile Event Apps
Mobile event apps have become indispensable tools for event planners and attendees alike. These apps offer a paperless approach to event management, providing attendees with all the information they need at their fingertips. Features often include event agendas, speaker profiles, interactive maps, push notifications for updates or changes, a 360-way finder and much more.
Additionally, mobile event apps facilitate networking by allowing attendees to connect with one another digitally. Attendees can exchange contact information, schedule meetings, and participate in interactive sessions or polls through the app.Â
3. QR Codes for Check-In
QR codes have become a staple in modern event registration. Attendees receive unique QR codes via email or mobile apps upon completing their registration. These QR codes serve as digital tickets and can be scanned at entry points, allowing for quick and contactless check-in. This technology reduces wait times and enhances security by ensuring that only registered attendees gain access.
Event organizers benefit from QR codes as well. They can track attendance in real-time, helping to manage session capacities and optimize resources. Moreover, QR codes provide valuable data insights, such as attendance patterns and peak entry times, which inform decision-making for future events.
4. Digital Badge Printing
Traditional printed badges are being replaced by digital badge printing solutions. These systems generate badges on-site, complete with attendee names, affiliations, and any other relevant information. Digital badges are not only eco-friendly but also allow for real-time corrections and updates. If an attendee's details change, the badge can be quickly reprinted without hassle.

Furthermore, digital badge printing systems can incorporate features like RFID or NFC technology. These badges can be used for session tracking, access control, and interactive experiences, providing event organizers with valuable data and attendees with enhanced engagement opportunities.
5. e-Tickets and Mobile Wallet Integration
e-tickets are another paperless alternative that enhances the attendee experience. Attendees receive electronic tickets via email, which can be stored in their mobile wallets. These e-tickets are easily accessible and eliminate the need for physical tickets. Attendees can present their e-tickets for entry by simply displaying them on their smartphones. This technology also supports last-minute event registrations and changes. Attendees can receive e-tickets instantly, even on the day of the event, making it convenient for both organizers and late registrants.:
6. Efficient Access Control with RFID Technology
RFID technology has gained prominence in modern event registration due to its efficiency and versatility. RFID badges or wristbands contain embedded RFID chips that can be scanned remotely using RFID readers. This technology offers seamless access control, as attendees can simply walk through RFID-enabled entry points without the need for physical scanning or manual checks.

The benefits of RFID technology in event registration are numerous. It reduces entry bottlenecks, allowing for swift and hassle-free access for attendees. Organizers can track attendance in real time, monitor session participation, and gather valuable data on attendee movement throughout the event venue. Incorporating RFID technology into your paperless event registration system not only streamlines access control but also contributes to a more efficient and secure event environment, ultimately enhancing the success of your event.
7. Virtual Attendee Check-In
For hybrid or fully virtual events, modern paperless registration technologies extend to virtual attendee check-in. Attendees can access virtual event platforms with ease using unique login credentials provided during registration. This eliminates the need for physical check-in points and allows attendees to participate from anywhere in the world.
Virtual check-in also enables event organizers to monitor attendee engagement during virtual sessions. They can track attendance, participation in polls or Q&A sessions, and resource downloads. This data informs post-event analytics and helps tailor future virtual events to attendee preferences.
8. Data Analytics and Reporting Tools
Modern paperless registration technologies come equipped with robust data analytics and reporting tools. Event organizers can access detailed reports on attendee demographics, registration trends, session popularity, and engagement metrics. These insights enable organizers to make data-driven decisions, refine marketing strategies, and continuously improve event experiences.
Additionally, reporting tools support post-event evaluations, helping organizers assess the event's success and identify areas for enhancement. The ability to gather and analyze data efficiently is a cornerstone of event success in the digital age.
Moreover, the data insights generated by these technologies allow for more targeted marketing efforts, reducing marketing expenses and improving the return on investment (ROI) for event promotions.
Conclusion
By the end of this blog, we know that in a world where efficiency, convenience, and sustainability are paramount, modern paperless registration technologies have become indispensable tools for event organizers. These technologies not only simplify the event registration process but also enhance attendee experiences, provide valuable data insights, and support environmental sustainability efforts. Embracing these innovations is a strategic move that can elevate your event, making it more successful and aligning it with the expectations of today's digital-savvy attendees. I hope you like the blog. Thank you for reading.

ahem. You. I have a foxy requestâ her obsession with her kindle while sheâs dating you, perhaps? You donât want to go paperless, but Foxy keeps trying to convince you to get a kindle. Sheâll hide your book and make comments like âbut if you had a kindleâ and teasingly roll her eyes, but it goes both ways? Maybe R is taller than her, so one day she takes emilyâs kindle and holds it over her head and emily tries to get it back and R just keeps gently tapping her head with the kindle before holding it back up. Absolutely no pressure, this just sounded like smth down your alley?
brand deal II e.fox
âem?â you called out hesitantly, frowning as the majority of the lights were switched off in your apartment and you let yourself in. âemily?â you called again, hair pricking up on the back of your neck as you took a few cautious steps forward.
âwhere is she?â you mumbled with a frown, knowing she was in fact here given sheâd called you about five minutes ago as you were pulling into the parking garage to check when youâd be home.
you settled a little as you flicked on the living room lights, hanging your bag up and shrugging off your puffer jacket. âyouâre back!â you screamed and almost fell over at the new voice interrupting the thick silence.
âdonât do that!â you scowled at your girlfriend, kicking off your shoes as she made her way closer with a grin. âdo what? say hi?â the brunette teased as your facial expression remained unamused.
âwhy were all the lights off you freak? i called out for you twice!â you defended, making your way into the kitchen to wash your hands.
having caught your neighbours practically pantsless in your buildings elevator the other day youâd made sure to thoroughly wash your hands every time you had to enter it since.
âwell it was light outside when i started this chapter, and nowâŠmany chapters later, itâs dark.â emily shrugged in explanation as you gave her an odd look.
âyou were readingïżœïżœin the dark?â âyes." "do you have like some superhuman ability to see in the dark that you just never told me about?" "obviously?"
"oh well sorry i didn't realise i was dating a mutant!" you teased with a roll of your eyes, your girlfriend smiling in amusement. "you don't need the lights on to read on a kindle babe." the american revealed the truth as you rolled your eyes again but this time less playfully.
"you know if you had one-" "don't try to brand deal me fox, i know all your little tricks."
"no come on, don't be like that!" emily laughed at your obvious disdain as you moved to start rummaging through the fridge. "like what exactly?" you sighed, tapping your foot trying to magically conjure up what you were going to cook for dinner with your severe lack of groceries.
the two of you were going away for a few days since there wasn't a game this weekend for arsenal and the girls were given some time off, so you'd both put off buying anything which might perish while you were gone.
"like such a negative nelly." "you are so american sometimes its painful." "hey! you were living in the states by your own choice when we met, thank you."
"emily i truly believe that if it was put to you that you had to choose between being with me or never reading on that stupid thing again, you'd choose the kindle." you pivoted back to the original subject making the brunette chuckle.
"and if i said you might be correct?" she grinned teasingly as you pulled your head out of the fridge to shoot her an unimpressed glare in warning.
"joking, i'm joking! just using my delightful sense of humor that helped you fall so in love with me in the first place." your girlfriend smiled charmingly as you hummed and bit back a smile of your own.
"since we have no food, how about i take you and paige to dinner?" emily offered, leaning around you and snagging a half empty bowl of strawberries out of the fridge, pulling herself up to sit on the counter to pick at them.
"me and who?" you closed the fridge and turned to look at her with confusion, untwisting the cap on a bottle of water and taking a sip. "paige." emily echoed as you waited for her to elaborate which she never did, just smiling at you as if nothing was wrong.
"who is paige?" you sighed, sensing you likely weren't going to enjoy her answer as the grin on her face grew.
"my kindle." "you named that thing?" "yes and you'll call her accordingly!" the brunette pointed with a playful glare. "darling i would so sincerely rather stick toothpicks into my eyes than address your kindle as if its a living thing."
"paige, address paige as a living thing." "are you cheating on me with an e-book fox?" "well she doesn't argue with me and nag me about doing my laundry after a game." "emily!" "just joking, joking again! trying to make you laugh since you have the most musical laugh babe." "kiss my ass fox." "who sounds american now?"
~
your rivarly with 'paige' only got worse as time went on, specifically as you both checked into the hotel you'd be staying at over the weekend for your little getaway.
your girlfriend had at least not pulled her kindle out the entire flight, the two of you playing a few very spirited rounds of her favourite card game instead and catching up on a few episodes of community which she had you watching for the first time.
but no sooner had you both gone out for a lovely meal together and a walk around town, retiring to the room for a glass of wine and some downtime, did paige resurface and not in the way you were expecting.
"em did you repack my case?" you questioned, sat on your knees and rifling around with a frown as your girlfriend had already settled herself in bed with her kindle in her lap ready to go.
"yeah you said i could put my big grey coat in if it fit, remember?" your girlfriend reminded as you hummed, eyebrows furrowing as you hunted around for what you wanted but came up empty handed.
"what have you lost baby?" the defender questioned as you unpacked and repacked your case for the second time.
"my books. i packed three of them and i can't find them? and i know they were in here because i was texting with lia about the series last night as i packed." you huffed in annoyance, sitting back and glaring at your now messed up case as if they might make them magically appear.
"oh those? yeah they're at home." the american confirmed, sitting up and fluffing the pillow behind her as your head slowly turned. "they're what?" you asked slowly, unsure if you'd misheard her.
"they're at home." her fingers flew across the screen with a slick click clack as she typed in the password to the kindle, not even looking at you and missing the way your eyes narrowed toward her.
"as in...they're still in london. "well that is where we live." "why are they at home?" "i unpacked them, you didn't need them." "i don't need them?" "nope."
again you waited for her to expand a little, even clearing your throat as she glanced toward you with a smile and going back to her kindle. "emily why wouldn't i need them!" you stood now, moving to stand at the end of the bed with crossed arms and a scowl.
"well if you had a kindle, you could just download whatever books you want and carry an entire library in your bag instead, without the dead weight." "are you trying to market me again? i told you i am not buying one."
"you don't need to." your girlfriend shrugged as you scoffed and threw your hands up in the air. "why? because you could click your fingers and have one magically appear for free?" you jutted your hip out and raised an eyebrow.
"you know you look very hot when you're getting all mad and dramatic." the american grinned, successfully winding you up more. "where are you going?" your girlfriend laughed as you mumbled something under your breath and turned away, sitting down on an armchair to wrestle on some shoes.
"theres a gift shop downstairs and i'm going to buy a book since i don't fancy sitting here staring at the ceiling while you get to read all evening!" you huffed, grunting as you managed to wedge your feet into your trainers without undoing the laces.
"i told you, you don't need a book."
"actually i'm now going to go and find the heaviest book i can and hit you over the head with it!" you threatened, standing and making a beeline for the door, a rustle sounding behind you.
"emily." you groaned as her hand shot out over your shoulder and pushed the door back closed as you opened it. "come here please." the girl snapped the waistband of your pajama shorts and you let out a long and deep sigh before following her.
"here." the defender rummaged around in her own suitcase for a moment before grabbing out a box and shoving it into your hands. "see? no need for any books, you're welcome." she kissed your cheek and wandered back to the bed.
it didn't take you more than a millisecond to clock what the box was for, the brand name splashed across the front as you shook your head. "you kidnapped my books so you could force me into using a kindle?" you waved the box in your hand at the brunette who nodded.
"correct, and i already purchased and loaded those same three books and the two that come after it. again; you're welcome babe." "i didn't say thank you!" "i know, i'll be waiting."
"well you'll be waiting for a long, long time!" you huffed, dropping the box back on top of her pile of clothes in her case. "where are you going now!" emily asked with a frown as again you headed for the door.
"to buy a book. then maybe while i'm at it look a new girlfriend who likes the smell of the pages and cracking open a fresh new novel, the thrill of a dog eared corner and the hefty weight of the paper in your hands. someone who appreciates reading for what it is, not something done digitally!" you rambled out with a huff, hand on the doorknob.
"baby, you're being dramatic. come here and i'll read to you, you can even close your eyes and pretend its a book!" emily opened her arms expectantly as your gaze narrowed and her face lit up more as you took a few cautious steps toward her, stopping once you'd reached the side of the bed.
"come on babe its our first night on vacation lets not argue over something so silly, come cuddle." the american patted the space between her legs as you stared her down.
her features brightened yet again as you pushed her legs together and moved to straddle her lap, lips curling into a signature smirk. "actually, why waste time reading?" you breathed out, leaning in as your lips ghosted hers.
you leaned back slightly as the american surged forward, a smile on your face as a pout appeared on hers, kindle left on the nightstand beside her as one hand grabbed the back of your neck and the other your hip trying to pull you closer for a kiss.
however right as you leaned in to do just that within seconds your arm darted out and fingers grabbed at the smooth cold metal, snatching the kindle and swinging yourself off of her, headed again for the door.
"babe what the hell? where are you going now?" emily groaned, head thumping gently against the wall behind her watching you walk away with a frustrated frown.
"oh well since you insisted on bringing 'paige' on holiday with us, i figured why should she miss out on all the fun? so i'm gonna take her for a little evening swim!" "don't you dare." "oh yeah? watch me."
again within seconds as your hand gripped the doorknob you heard the covers go flying and feet hit the floor, the door barely opened a few centimeters before a body jumped onto you and your own slammed into the door closing it again.
"give her back!" "no! you have a problem you just called an inanimate object a her!" "i said give it!" emily grunted, arms wrapping around your neck and legs clutching at your hips as you held the kindle away from your body, stumbling backwards trying to keep your balance.
"oh my god you are addicted to this thing, you need help!" "i do not! you just don't understand the future." "oh i do, i know the future is looking awfully wet for paige!"
"em!" you squealed as she managed to pull you down onto the bed, crawling on top of you as you quickly wedged the kindle under your back and fought to push her off.
the two of you bickered back and forth as you grabbed her hands and got a knee loose, pushing her off of you and trying to flee again as her arm wrapped around your neck and her leg around your waist in an attempt at some sort of sleeper hold.
you had a couple of centimeters of height on her though and held the kindle just out of reach, using it to bonk her several times on the head to try and get her to let go of you to which she protested loudly.
after a few more minutes of struggle you almost rolled off the bed, yelping as strong hands grabbed you and using that to your advantage you managed to climb back on top of her.
"are we really fighting over a kindle?" you managed to press her arms to the bed with a grip on her wrists, her chest heaving beneath you and both your faces flushed rosy pink after the tussle.
"yeah, yeah we are." your girlfriend sighed, body going limp as a beat of silence passed before you both shared a look and suddenly you were rolling off of her, both your combined laughter filling the air as you clutched your stomachs.
"this is so stupid!" you managed out with a shake of your head. "i know." the defender agreed with a chuckle of her own, both of you taking a second to calm down again.
"truce?" you held a hand up in the air, her own coming to interlock and give it a firm shake. "truce, i love you."
"i love you too." you smiled, head turning to look as hers did the same, the two of you craning your necks to sweetly peck one anothers lips a few times with some giggles, your body rolling so you laid half on top of her, legs intertwining as her heart pounded beneath your eat that was pressed against her chest.
"one thing though?" "mm?" "paige is not allowed to sleep in the bed with us."

"You have twenty nine uses left on your sanitizer module. Contact your nearest service depot to have a new sanitizer module installed. When the count runs out, you will no longer be able to flush your toilet."
Younger people ask me, how exactly is it that Hewlett-Packard, the printer manufacturer, ended up taking over the world? After checking out the window for the presence of their all-hearing, man-slicing surveillance drones, I tell them. It was this, or they'd force the President to maintain a fleet of inkjet printers.
At first, things weren't so bad. We started to roll back the whole "paperless office" scam of the 90s. At one point, a bunch of toughs all zooted out on free government-provided fuser oil smashed the door to the data-centre where the False Minds existed, their pseudo-artificial-intelligence a clear threat to a world where being able to print was essential. That was a lot of fun, stepping on a bunch of scattered RAM in the middle of the street and knowing it was so close to being able to feel pain.
Then it became much clearer how things were going to really go from now on. Whole forests were felled in an instant to feed the new demand for vessels to contain our minds. Libraries suddenly became stuffed with hastily constructed bookshelves, their once-silent printers leaping back to life and erupting orgasmic volleys of paper. And everyone, everywhere, was looking for yellow ink, no matter what they printed. It's been twenty-five years since then.
Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not complaining about the dominance of the printer giants. Sure, the amount of fatal papercuts has skyrocketed. Especially now that the ambulances aren't allowed to use their radios anymore, not unless they're connected to a fax machine. And pretty much everything has to be turned on and off a few times before it starts to work, otherwise it just blinks a stupid little light that doesn't mean anything.
All this, though, is worth it. Because as soon as Hewlett-Packard took control of the world governments, they took their first acts of violence out on their competition. Had the guy who made the shitty paper loader for the Lexmarks executed. And the rush from that was enough to get me through having to pay 25 cents a poop for the rest of my life. Sorry you missed it.

Idk where that stands with your relationship with her, it just seems a bit infantilizing when you are an adult.

Chapter Sixteen: Orders
The note that Lou slipped Hermann had only three lines.
Check the drafts.
MlKip80932210v.01
So Tendo drummed up a new-in-box cellphone from somewhere, and they logged into BlackMail.
BlackMail was an anonymous email client normally used in conjunction with Tor. Hermann knew a little bit about the so-called âdarknet,â but only due to another one of Newtonâs rants.Â
Newton had been on his third day without sleep. Counterintuitively, the greater his sleep deprivation, the faster he seemed to move. By then, he was practically vibrating. His patter had grown so rapid, it seemed like only auctioneers should have been able to follow it, but Hermann somehow still remembered it almost verbatim.
âAll you have to do is download a Tor browser, which is perfectly legal, in a read-the-fine-font sort of way. Tor is short for The Ogre Router, but itâs based on an older network called The Onion Router that the NSA dismantled in 2023.â
âThe new Tor popped up practically overnight. I would say the NSA doesnât know about it, but they probably shut down the old one because it was running too slow. This is the Too Much Information Age. Cokeâs secret formula is no longer secret. KFCâs eleven original herbs and spices are old news. They added five more, which immediately went viral, in more ways than one. Not even the Illuminati can keep a secret these days.â
âYou can buy or sell anything on the darknet if you have enough digitally laundered cryptocurrency. Remember that girl who tried to sell her kidney for the latest iPhone, then found out that wouldnât be enough money and tried to sell the other one? The cops got there just in time? That was the Silk Superhighway. You can even hire an assassin. The Unicoder will make the hit look like a suicide for anyone who refers a friend.â
Eventually, Hermann had succeeded in convincing him to put down the scalpel and go to bed, but the rant had actually been rather fascinating. As Newton was so fond of saying, âThe internet is a web of lies.âÂ
Lou and Dierdre had left an email in the drafts folder. That was a trick commonly employed by BlackMailers. Anyone with account access could read the email without leaving behind an incriminating paperless trail.Â
The draft read:
Hey Hermann,
Weâre trying to get assigned to Newtâs detail so we can bust him out. We need you to distract the Sec Gen and his security officers once we switch shifts. Weâll leave a new draft once itâs go time and another once we've got Newt.Â
Love,
Dierdre & Lou
P.S. It would be nice if we still had jobs after this, but itâs no big deal if we donât. Louâs old man isnât really on dialysis. :P
If the PPDC fired Dierdre and Lou, Hermann was going to hire them personally. After all, it seemed Newton was in need of full-time security.Â
âThey might not be able to time their shift change with the meeting,â said Raleigh, once theyâd all stopped headbutting each other in an attempt to look at the same tiny screen.Â
They had decided to meet in the Jaeger Refuse Storage room this time. It was dark and cramped, but there was relatively little chance of covert listening devices.Â
âDo we need a backup distraction?â asked Tendo. âI make a mean trashcan fire. Lots of smoke, no collateral damage.â
âI think that's the first time a PPDC officer has said the words âno collateral damageâ in that order,â said Marshal Hansen, âbut I get the feeling Secretary Krieger will want his own security officers present for this meeting. He was acting a bit troppo about it.â
âYou know no one understands you when you start using Australian slang, sir,â said Tendo.Â
âI noticed that too, sir,â said Raleigh, at the same time. âIt was strange how he changed the time and place like that. Do you think heâs going to try something?âÂ
Marshal Hansen crossed his arms. âI would bloody well like to see him try and start something with me in my own Shatterdome.â
âThat would be foolish at best,â agreed Hermann, âbut I believe itâs a good sign that he changed the time and location of the meeting. It may have simply been another power play, but itâs also possible that he pushed back the meeting so his security detail would have time to return.â
âWhat about the location?â asked Mako.Â
âHe wants to have the meeting in his own office, which indicates that he doesnât want to risk surveillance,â said Hermann, "which in turn indicates that he may say something incriminating. Did you notice the item on his desk? That was a nonlinear junction detector. They're used to identify covert recording devices. I recognized it from the time Newton thought J Science was spying on us.â
âSay what?â asked Tendo.
Hermann waved his free hand dismissively. âOh, he had been consuming some black market energy drinks from Japan, and I believe they were interfering with his medications. The point is that the Secretary General is apparently quite paranoid about being bugged.â
âI wonder why,â said Raleigh, in a voice dryer then the canteenâs chicken fricassee.Â
âSo you are suggesting we oblige him?â asked Mako.
Marshal Hansen tapped a finger against his folded arms. âWell, we canât let Lou and Dierdre have all the fun.â
âWe will have to find a way to avoid detection,â she reminded him.Â
âCould the Marshal wear a wire?â asked Hermann.
âThis is 2025,â said Tendo. âWe use cellphones to spy on each other these days.â
âIt's standard practice to turn in cellphones or even use signal jammers before classified meetings,â said Marshal Hansen. âThatâs one of the reasons we all use Zoom. I guarantee you Secretary Krieger will insist on it, even if itâs just to scratch his own ego. I wouldn't be surprised if he patted me down too. You know, even Stacker used to complain about him?â
âIf the Secretary General were to discover a recording device on your person, then you could potentially be charged with seditious conspiracy,â said Hermann.Â
âI have an idea,â said Mako, âbut we'll need to bring some very specialized help.â

In the three-page document, Retailleau pared down the criteria according to which prefects â the leading state authorities in each French dĂ©partement â can normalize an undocumented immigrantâs residency status. His decree specifies that individuals must now be able to prove seven years of presence on French soil, as opposed to the five years stipulated under the prior norms on âexceptional residency authorizations.â
Retailleauâs order does not create a specific right for undocumented immigrants seeking official papers. Rather, it reaffirms that itâs a decision for the prefecture in each of Franceâs nearly one hundred local dĂ©partements. Moreover, individuals applying for normalized status must prove that they work in an industry suffering labor shortages â one of the requirements included in a stringent immigration law adopted in early 2024. A list of these sectors is expected to be released in late February.
In line with the 2024 law, Retailleauâs order likewise specifies stricter criteria for âexceptionalâ regularization, notably that undocumented immigrants prove that they present no âthreatâ to public order and prove their integration into society through their command of the French language and respect for republican âvalues.â
âThis is an order for firmness,â Retailleau told reporters shortly after issuing his new guidelines, claiming that the French public wanted to turn the page on the allegedly âlight-touchâ treatment of undocumented immigrants. âRegularization is not a right,â the interior minister continued, arguing that rules on gaining residency papers must not provide an âincentive to illegality.â
NGOs and immigrant rights defenders have blasted the order. They decry a move that adds to local prefectsâ arbitrary power. Narrowing the pathway to official status for the undocumented population, the new policy, they warn, will only serve to aggravate the administrative and job precarity experienced by so-called âpaperlessâ immigrants.
âWhatâs most worrying here is that the goal of this order is not to integrate people into French society,â Aurore Krizoua, a campaigner with the immigrant rights association La Cimade, told Jacobin. âItâs to stigmatize and keep these people on the margins.â
According to the Interior Ministryâs own estimates, there are upward of eight hundred thousand undocumented immigrants currently residing in France. In 2023, as few as thirty-four thousand of them achieved a normalization of their status. Out of that already small share, only 11,500 gained papers based on their employment status.
With his order, Retailleau claims to have âsimplifiedâ the procedure for administrators. But to observers, his effort at simplification amounts to a paring down of the avenues to regularization, notably by eliding criteria such as family ties in France in favor of a sole focus on economic factors. Even that standard could be watered down depending on the list of industries deemed to be suffering labor market tensions.
âIt was already hard enough to obtain and prove five years of employment under the preceding guidelines,â Ăvelyne Sire-Marin, vice president of the Human Rights League, told Jacobin. The further raising of that administrative hurdle will only prolong the time that an undocumented immigrant will spend on the margins, whether thatâs at the whims of so-called âsleep merchantsâ in the housing black market or in fear of random police checks in public spaces. âLeaving the place where you live as an undocumented immigrant is a constant risk.â
(...) Retailleauâs order will probably have little to no effect on the number of people seeking to move to France and, likewise, on his desired uptick in deportations. Last October, Retailleau issued similar administrative guidelines to prefects on orders for foreigners to leave French territory. Yet as few as 7 percent of those deportation orders are carried out, often because of the impossibility of the individual returning to their country of origin. Instead, orders like these largely serve to keep Franceâs undocumented population â those already in the country and the people set to come â in a precarious state of limbo, at the margin of the law and under the thumb of employers and traffickers who can exploit these individualsâ lack of official status.
âSeven years without papers is seven years spent with fear constantly in the back of your mind,â said Krizoua. âYou also have to think about what that means in terms of employment. French labor law has protections, but the law canât protect people who work without official status. . . . These people have to live and work with a nonintegration that is externally imposed.â
âItâs a crass political move,â said Sire-Marin.
(...) Partners in Bayrouâs government Les RĂ©publicains are currently vying for the adoption of a new bill to restrict birthright citizenship for individuals born in Mayotte, a French overseas dĂ©partement in the Indian Ocean. In December, Mayotte was hit by a devastating cyclone that dramatized the plight of the territoryâs large population of undocumented immigrants from neighboring Comoros, which in turn fed calls for a clampdown on illegal immigration. [NOTE BY OP: parliament has adopted this law today and it's now going to the senate and constitutional council]
Bayrou has resisted right-wing calls for a national referendum on restricting immigration. But he defended Retailleauâs order, saying that the French public had a âfeeling of submersionâ by foreigners. That statement, aping the main narrative of the far right, had last week briefly interrupted talks between the Parti Socialiste and Macronâs camp. Between the center-left establishment and Le Pen, Bayrou wants to have it both ways. It seems like the Parti Socialiste will let him.

Hydro (Canadian power) bill rant
Sitting here panicking over why my power bill is 50% higher than expected this month, even taking summer heat and AC into account. I think to myself: Maybe my last payment didn't actually go through somehow? But there's no mention on any of my billing emails.
So I then load up their online portal to check there. Sure enough, I find this slightly faded bullet-point at the bottom of last month's longform invoice (which I had to hunt down and download because they don't actually attach it to the email they send me every month):
What a lovely reminder at the bottom of the bill that I (and others) don't usually get the chance to read in full because I'm paperless and pay through my bank. :(
TL;DR is the mid-peak and on-peak pricing have swapped places for the summer, so running literally any electronic between 11A-5P (my meds' active hours) has gone up +50% per kWh. Sigh.

Green Packing Tips: How to Travel Light and Eco-Conscious
Packing for a trip can be exciting yet overwhelming, especially when youâre trying to balance convenience with sustainability. The good news? Green packing doesnât mean sacrificing comfort or style. By making thoughtful choices, you can reduce your environmental footprint and travel more mindfully. Here's how to pack light and eco-friendly for your next adventure.

1. Start with a Sustainable Suitcase
Your packing journey begins with the right luggage. Opt for durable suitcases or backpacks made from recycled or sustainable materials. Brands like Samsonite and Patagonia offer eco-friendly options designed to last for years. Choosing quality luggage means less waste and fewer replacements over time.
2. Pack Reusable Travel Essentials
Single-use items create unnecessary waste. Replace them with reusable alternatives like a stainless-steel water bottle, collapsible coffee cup, bamboo cutlery, and silicone food bags. Not only do these items save space, but they also help reduce plastic waste while youâre on the go.
3. Prioritize Multipurpose Clothing
Pack versatile, lightweight clothing that you can mix and match. Opt for neutral tones and items that can be layered. Clothes made from sustainable fabrics like organic cotton, bamboo, or recycled polyester are ideal. Multipurpose clothing reduces the amount you pack and keeps your wardrobe eco-conscious.
4. Go Digital with Travel Documents
Say goodbye to printed tickets, itineraries, and maps. Use your smartphone or tablet to store all travel-related documents. Most airlines and hotels now accept digital check-ins, making it easier to go paperless and reduce waste.
5. Minimize Toiletry Waste
Replace travel-sized plastic toiletries with solid options like shampoo bars, conditioner bars, and toothpaste tablets. Store them in reusable tins or silicone containers. These products are compact, last longer, and eliminate the need for plastic packaging.
6. Pack a Travel Laundry Kit
Carrying a small travel laundry kit can help you pack less. A biodegradable laundry soap and a portable clothesline make it easy to wash and reuse clothes during your trip. This is especially helpful for longer journeys.
7. Use Packing Cubes Made from Recycled Materials
Packing cubes help you stay organized while maximizing space. Look for options made from recycled materials. Theyâre lightweight, durable, and make packing and unpacking a breeze.
8. Avoid Overpacking
Itâs tempting to pack for every possible scenario, but overpacking leads to heavier luggage and increased fuel emissions for flights. Stick to the essentials and remember that you can usually buy or borrow items if needed.
9. Choose Eco-Friendly Accessories
Donât forget accessories like a reusable shopping bag, travel towel, and solar-powered charger. These items are practical, lightweight, and contribute to sustainable travel practices.
10. Leave No Trace
Finally, aim to leave your destination better than you found it. Pack a small reusable bag for trash and be mindful of the environment wherever you go. Follow the principles of "leave no trace" to ensure your travels have a minimal impact on nature and local communities.
Why Green Packing Matters
Green packing is about more than just reducing wasteâitâs a mindset that aligns with sustainable travel. By carefully choosing what to bring, you not only lighten your luggage but also minimize your environmental footprint. Small changes like packing reusable items or opting for sustainable fabrics make a significant difference.

Breaking Barriers: The Revolutionary World of Unlimited e-signatures with ApostiSign
In an era where digital transformation is no longer a choice but a necessity, paperwork has become the enemy of progress. Bureaucracy, once a symbol of formality and order, now feels like a relic of a slower, analog age. Enter the new protagonist of efficiency â Unlimited e-signatures, brought to life by the innovative force of ApostiSign.
This isn't just a feature. Itâs a paradigm shift.
The New Age of Signing: Without Limits, Without Boundaries
Imagine a world where documents are executed not in hours, not in minutes, but in mere seconds. A world where the ceiling on digital authorization has been shattered, where the notion of âlimitsâ is abandoned like yesterdayâs news. Thatâs the promise of Unlimited e-signatures â a boundless, frictionless experience that turns signatures from obstacles into accelerants.
ApostiSign has taken the concept of e-signatures and elevated it to an entirely new dimension. Itâs not just about going paperless; itâs about unleashing velocity. Whether you're signing ten documents or ten thousand, the experience remains fluid, instantaneous, and powerful.
ApostiSign: The Vanguard of Digital Empowerment
ApostiSign doesnât merely offer a service. It crafts an ecosystem â a secure, legally-compliant, lightning-fast environment where businesses, entrepreneurs, and individuals can thrive. From startups sprinting through funding rounds to multinational enterprises orchestrating cross-border contracts, ApostiSign delivers seamless, scalable functionality powered by Unlimited e-signatures.
At its core lies a belief: that access to digital efficiency should never be metered. ApostiSign obliterates the pay-per-signature model that holds progress hostage. It replaces that outdated approach with something radical and liberating â true, unfettered digital signing capacity.
Why Unlimited e-signatures Matter
In a high-velocity world, throttling a critical function like signing documents is akin to capping internet speed or rationing electricity. Unlimited e-signatures are not a luxury. Theyâre essential infrastructure.
They allow for:
Uninterrupted Workflow: Never pause to buy more signatures. Keep momentum alive.
Scalable Growth: As your organization grows, your signing capacity grows effortlessly with it.
Operational Predictability: Say goodbye to surprise charges and signature shortages during critical deals.
Every department benefits. HR can onboard new employees globally without delay. Legal teams can execute agreements with relentless precision. Sales teams can close deals the moment the prospect says âyes.â
The digital pen never runs out of ink.
Security Without Compromise
ApostiSign understands that velocity must be matched with vigilance. Every signature, whether the first or the thousandth, is encrypted, authenticated, and sealed with ironclad compliance. From GDPR to eIDAS, ApostiSignâs infrastructure upholds the highest global security and legal standards.
That means every signature is:
Legally Binding
Tamper-Evident
Time-Stamped
Encrypted from End to End
In this way, Unlimited e-signatures arenât just abundant â theyâre inviolable.
Revolutionizing the Digital Experience
Letâs step into the daily life of a modern business leader. Morning coffee. Check email. A contract arrives â urgent, high-stakes, international. In the past, this meant delays: printing, scanning, couriering. With ApostiSign, the document is opened, reviewed, and signed in under a minute.
Not once. Not twice. But as many times as needed.
This is the new tempo of business. Fast. Secure. Unlimited.
Itâs not just about convenience â itâs about transformation. ApostiSignâs Unlimited e-signatures turn digital signatures into a utility, as essential and accessible as electricity or internet. Always on. Always ready.
Fueling Innovation Across Sectors
From healthcare providers navigating sensitive patient data to fintech platforms securing high-value transactions, ApostiSignâs model is adaptable, resilient, and future-proof. The power of Unlimited e-signatures breaks industry-specific bottlenecks:
Real Estate: Accelerate lease agreements, sales contracts, and disclosures.
Education: Streamline admissions, faculty onboarding, and alumni engagement.
Government: Digitize approvals, licenses, and interdepartmental communication.
Every sector benefits when signatures become limitless. The document ceases to be a delay. It becomes a portal â a gateway to swift action.
Designed for the Doers
ApostiSign is built for the bold â the builders, dreamers, deal-makers, and disruptors. Those who refuse to be slowed down by red tape. Those who know that every moment matters.
Unlimited e-signatures arenât a niche offering. Theyâre a foundational asset in the modern toolkit â as vital as cloud storage, virtual meetings, and AI-driven analytics.
And theyâre not an add-on. They are the main event.
The Future Is Signature-Free â but Only on Paper
As the digital future unfolds, paper signatures will become artifacts of another era â quaint, clumsy, and unnecessarily slow. ApostiSign is writing a new chapter. One in which documents move at the speed of ideas, where business doesnât wait, and where signatures are infinite.
Itâs not just an upgrade. Itâs a reinvention.
Final Thoughts: The Infinite Edge
The promise of Unlimited e-signatures isnât just about quantity. Itâs about freedom. Freedom from constraints, from delay, from dependency. Itâs about reclaiming time and trust in the digital sphere.
ApostiSign isnât just delivering technology â itâs delivering empowerment. A commitment to ensure that every handshake, every agreement, every contract is no longer bound by limits.
Because the future doesn't wait. And with ApostiSign, neither do you.
