I haven't made any secret of the fact that I don't think the 2000 LM miniseries is good like...at all...in any way....BUT I am extremely intrigued by their unaging Immortal Gavroche, which I'm pretty sure was unintentional and just another symptom of the really ruined timeline they have going BUT IT HAPPENS NONETHELESS

and ALSO intrigued by this bit where he walks into the barricade, sort of ambles around, and then absolutely zeroes in on Bahorel (yes, that's Bahorel! It's even verbally confirmed later! and he has a red waistcoat! One Actual Point to LM 2K from me XD) like that's who he was looking for in the first place

...the intrigue is not lessened by me being highly suspicious that Bahorel is also kinda immortal in this one (again: probably not on purpose, there's just. there's a lot of issues with the editing in this. Whoo boy this is not a good show.)

ANYWAY thanks for the 1.5 minutes of blorbo interaction , show, I'm taking this and the Immortal Gamin and nothing else

thinkin'bout factions in wargames, specifically, I'm thinking about the sort of biopunky magic as science, uses fleshy abominations as troops sorta faction that I've seen pop up now 3 times, I think, and I'm wondering if it's actually a thing

My first encounter with this faction is The Alchemists Of Dirz from the old, now sadly very defunct wargame, Confrontation, from Rackham Miniatures, the faction I would have played If I'd had the money for wargames in my early teens, they were a weird bunch of scientists hiding in the desert, producing clone soldiers and biological abominations to try and conquer the world

More recently, I've seen Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings, from Para Bellum Games, a very pretty if a bit edgy wargame, The Spires first struck me as being heavily inspired by the alchemist, as far as I can tell, they're a bunch of weird extradimensional wizards producing clone soldiers and biological abominations to try and conquer the world, and sure they're not exactly the same in look or theme, but there are similarities

Have you seen Corvus Belli, the creators of the well-known Infinity, has a new fantasy skirmish wargame, I took their faction quiz, taking all the magic as science options, and the factions they've given me is the Scions of Yaldabaoth, a group of rebel-ish elf mages, who serve the architect of flesh, and though I think there's a little less clone soldiers, they still go in for bioaugmentation and biological abominations

so, is this a thing? are there other examples that you can think of? particularly in fantasy wargames, but also elsewhere in fantasy

ah the readalong is already marching off to the barricades! Somehow this part always seems to come up before I'm ready, even though I know the order of events...

anyway today is Gavroche, and the explanations of his poetry, which means I am obligated to note this bit:

Got some cool minis from para bellum games, wargame conquest.

These are bone golems, and they are honestly so cool, I decided to try some additions of candles and extra skulls to this first one and I think it really pulls it together.

Texture paint Stirland mud for detail less surfaces, blizzard for spots where I want to have some moss growing, and bloodgod (because I had no hardcoat) for candle wax. The mud and the blizzard ended up looking the same after a basecoat so that's something to keep in mind.

I'm gonna paint more from para bellum and post them as well.
